i decides to mixt it up with a salad, so i was glad when i found this neat salad spot in san francisco. you gotta look for street parking, and once you enter the establishment, you can order one of their salads, or customize your own: i got and customized my own. inside ambiance is so neat and pacific: it was no surprise to see other students on their computer, or couples enjoying their sunday afternoon here at mixt customized salad (7.7/10) my salad contained grilled chicken, ham and other veggies. i enjoyed this lite lunch, yet price point was above average. i felt like i ate it quickly: expected a bigger portion

I ordered Mixt for a healthy salad for lunch and they delivered for sure! I got the bachelor which comes with greens, arugula, grilled flat iron steak, blue cheese, herb roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, savory herbs, balsamic vinaigrette, topped with caramelized onions and breadcrumbs. This salad was packed with proteins, greens/veggies, and it was hardy/very filling! I'm a big fan of the compostable packaging as well. This picture is unassuming, but the salad was 12/10 for lunch!

    A tiny piece of bread

I have ordered from Mixt before, and now they are engaging in some wild shrinkflation. I requested bread with my meal because salad isn't very filling. In the past, they gave you a decent slice of bread with your salad. Today, it was half a tiny little slice. I laughed when I took it out of the bag. The photo is from before it was eaten. Maybe just charge for it instead of misleading customers with child-size portions?

Slam dunk. Phenomenal fresh ingredients, endless varieties of seasonal produce and freshly made house dressings. This is my favorite salad chain, to the point I got their app! I love to customize my own, rather than get their pre-made concoctions. Parking in this location is tough, but the customer service is reliably friendly and sweet. Prices are great and portions are huge, each salad easily enough for two.

    Bachan's (fried chicken) bowl

When I'm craving a fried chicken sandwich in winter and find myself in the Mission District, I love opting for a healthier alternative: the Bachan's Bowl at MIXT. It's a cozy, satisfying mix of warm cilantro brown rice, crispy fried chicken, fresh veggies, Japanese barbecue sauce, and a refreshing ginger-lime dressing. In winter, it's absolutely perfect--warm and hearty because a cold salad simply would not do.

Gee, what's a salad lounge? I remember the golden days when MIXT was Mixt Greens, but apparently they decided one name was enough for them like Cher, Madonna, Adele... Back when I was an office drone, I used to go to the ones in the FiDi with alarming regularity, but this was my first time at this unexpected Mission location, the land of tacos and kofta balls. I was expecting a lot of skinny vegan types in silk pajamas as that was my preconceived image of a salad lounge. But no, it was empty save for one senior next to the window. I was familiar with their menu and went with an old favorite, the $12.95 Beetnik Salad, to go. It consisted of 620 calories of mixed greens, arugula, roasted beets, avocado, and more... Goat cheese, toasted walnuts, dried cranberries, and shaved fennel rounded out this MIXT creation with a balsamic vinaigrette on the side (photo: https://bit.ly/47998ce). It was tasty in the way an excess of ingredients in a salad manages to accomplish. But don't expect a low calorie delight, and the grain bowls were all that much higher. Hey, at least they were upfront about it. FOOD - 4 stars...the Beetnik was tasty excess for a salad and not low calorie AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...this is a lounge? SERVICE - 3 stars...automatic pilot TOTAL - 4 stars...giving up the rating for the salad RELATED - Exploring the Mission? Before mixing. Build-your-own. You can't see all the layers but there is a ton under there!

My body was craving some greens and veggies so I gave in and ordered takeout from MIXT. I decided to go with the option to design my own grain bowl, with a base of quinoa and kale. Even though you cannot see it in the images, there was a good amount of quinoa and tons of kale. You choose 5 veggies to add on top, and they have a great selection of veggies and toppings as well as a pretty extensive list of dressings to choose from. All-in-all I was super pleased with my salad, even though ideally I would have paid slightly less. That said, the prices are not astronomical and I enjoyed my meal so much that I will definitely grab food from here again in the near future!

Parking is hard, but the service is fast. The place is clean, self-seating. Got the brussie salad and it was delicious!

Why did they charge me full price but only give me half a portion? I've been there multiple times and know the size it's supposed to be. This just sad. I feel robbed

Especially appreciative of the consistent quality. Always fresh lettuce, spinach. Vegetables, diced to a nice chewable size. Love the Beetnik salad. Question: what are these stems? This is the second time I have gotten these in my salad.

The restaurant itself made a great first impression. It was clean, organized, and even had a nice little area set up for social media photos. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the presentation. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with Greek chicken. The chicken was dry, and it was obvious the seasoning had been sprinkled on after it was cooked instead of being cooked into the meat. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts and fried cauliflower. The Brussels sprouts looked perfectly crispy, which is exactly how they should have been, but they were soft and soggy instead. To make matters worse, the sauce was packed inside the same container, so the steam made them even soggier while also heating the small plastic sauce container inside. The fried cauliflower was equally disappointing. It looked crispy because of its golden brown color, but there wasn't a bit of crunch. Instead, it was oddly firm, almost al dente, making it feel more undercooked than fried. I also tried the garlic chicken soup, expecting something similar to Avgolemono. Instead, it was a thin, watered down broth with the same dry chicken pieces from the Mediterranean Bowl tossed in. The pita bread served with it was honestly the worst part of the meal and the only thing I threw away. Nothing was completely inedible, but for more than $60 worth of takeout, I expected food that matched the clean, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Sadly, this experience fell well short of that, and it's not a place I'll be returning to.

This was a great appetizer to share between 2-4 people. The tofu is soft and chewy while the pineapple is crunchy and fresh. The glaze on top is slightly spicy but pairs well with the sweet pineapple. The portion is a good size for an appetizer and the tofu makes it feel like a substantial dish. - roasted cauliflower (8/10): charred cauliflower florets on a bed of sikil pak topped with pickled onions and cilantro. This was my favorite of the dishes we ordered. The sikil pak is a unique spread that I had not seen before. The main ingredients are pumpkin seeds, tomato, and habanero, with the texture of a hummus but the flavor of a salsa. It is also a good size to share as an appetizer between 2-4 people. - garlic butter udon (6/10): udon coated in garlic butter with macadamia nut crumbles on top. This sounded good but was a bit of a letdown after the appetizers. I was hoping for more unique flavors or textures. An addition of something fresh like a pesto drizzle or roasted tomatoes may have added a boost of flavor and color. - kale walnut pesto rigatoni (7/10): rigatoni with kale and walnut pesto topped with blistered cherry tomatoes. I liked pasta better than the udon. The pesto was creamy yet fresh from the pistachio and lemon. The tomatoes added color and sweetness. The portion is good to serve one person or shared when mixed with other dishes. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes, though I would order more of the appetizers and I liked them better than the entrees.

Wait time: Not an extremely long wait between ordering and receiving food and drink. A buzzer is given to you which rings when your food is completed. Food: The yuzu salmon onigiri had a decent serving of salmon inside and on top of the rice. Good salmon flavor but slightly lacking in yuzu flavor. Chicken Curry onigiri: a mild curry flavor which again had a decent rice to chicken ratio. The chicken did taste slightly dry despite the curry sauce likely due to the nature of being a ground meat. Matcha Latte c Pistachio Cream was easily one of the best tasting matcha drinks I have had in SF. The matcha had a strong flavor and the pistachio cream did not overpower the taste of the matcha. There was a nice sweet, slightly salty, and pistachio flavor from the cream and the addition of the crushed pistachios was not a weird texture for the drink. I would definitely be interested in trying more of their matcha beverages due to quality and size of drink compared to cost.

The ramen broth is very hearty and bold. When I was halfway through, it became a little too much. I do wish you're able to pick the thickness of noodles. I didn't like the thin noodles with the ramen. It actually reminded me of instant ramen. But to each their own with noodle thickness. I just wish there were options. I almost wish there was something else in the ramen to balance out the flavor besides more bold flavors from the pork and egg. It does the job but wasn't a huge wow factor.
