I loved Sweetgreen pre-pandemic and went several times a week. During the years I worked mostly at home, Sweetgreen salads were one of the few draws for heading into the office. However, quality and ingredient choice has really suffered as they've scaled up and gone public over the past few years. Flavors are meh, freshness is not always great, portions vary a lot (for the same salad or bowl), wait times are long, and the price is just too high. I still come here occasionally, but it's become a once in a while spot rather than a regular spot, and one I don't feel the need to hurry back to because it just tastes so meh, compared to what it used to be. I was inspired to write this review by the salad that I had today that was only okay. And it made me remember that basically every other salad that I've had here over the last 3 years has been only okay as well. I can see they've made some recent menu updates to try to lure customers back, but honestly what they need to do is bring back the quality and value that the brand had 10 years ago. Anything short of that is unlikely to be enough in a market like SF. read more

I have the Sweetgreen app, but I still prefer ordering in person versus using the app to pre-order. During this visit, there were plenty of employees at the counter helping customers. I ordered the Miso Glazed Salmon ($19.95) because I had a 50% off offer in the app. The employee automatically scooped white rice, but I asked if there was brown rice available. Then my order was passed to another employee for the remaining ingredients. I've eaten at Sweetgreen many times, but this was the first time an employee asked me which sauce I wanted and pointed to the sauce chart, probably because of the spicy cashew dressing. I also didn't realize until now that there are ingredient options customers can choose from. After checking the Sweetgreen website and app later, I noticed the bowl can come with choices like white rice, golden quinoa, or wild rice. It would be helpful if Sweetgreen had a clearer ingredient selection listing at the counter, similar to the sauce options, so customers know they can customize their bowl more easily. The Miso Glazed Salmon includes salmon, avocado, cucumbers, pickled onions, crispy onions, rice, nori sesame seasoning, and spicy cashew dressing. Overall it tasted good, though the salmon portion felt a little small and could have been bigger. read more

This has been my go-to place for lunch for ages. The quality is pretty consistent, with mistakes fairly rare. Unfortunately they're in an area with immense demand, and orders are getting absurdly slow to fulfil. Want lunch? Ordering over an app? Better put that order in up to 90 minutes ahead of when you'll need it, with absolutely no consistency in prep time. The sheer inconvenience of not being able to plan for lunch within a window of even 45 minutes makes coming here less and less appealing. I joined their app and so far so good. This month i can get $10 Power salad bowl with kale salad, some sort of crunchy nut, shredded carrots. I got pesto dressing. Spicy broccoli. This place is my favorite salad place. The bowl is huge. I ate half and saved half. Today I went back to use my $5 off for joining their app. I ordered ahead and got the fish with arugula and quinoa, which is only available with online ordering. So delicious. my first ever 1 star review on yelp. sweetgreens usually is very tasty - i'm a repeat customer, although today's experience has left a bad taste (and literally some bones) in myself. i ordered a build your own bowl with mixed greens, fruits, etc. i was surprised that they charged extra as soon as i added more than 4 toppings. they literally charged me extra for som crispy rice and almonds. in my opinion, id rather have them just raise the price of the bowl then make me feel like i need to limit my choices/number of toppings i choose. the price thing i wasn't too dissatisfied with relatively speaking. it's SF in FiDi, so not surprising/end of the world. what really left a bad taste in my mouth was my sad piece of salmon. usually it's pretty good - today i bit into it and my mouth was full of salmon bones. see below picture for all of the bones i pulled out of my piece of fish. if this bowl costed $10-15, i wouldn't be as upset. this bowl with barely any toppings costed me $21 dollars. and i didn't even finish my salmon since some parts of it literally had 4 bones interlaced in the meat. pretty abhorrent in my opinion - it'll be a while before i come back here. which really is unfortunate, because i've always enjoyed sweet greens. read more

An easy lunch spot if you're in Fidi! They do have 2 locations in the area though. The Harvest Bowl HITs every time especially when you ask for a side of the Green Goddess Ranch with it. Make sure they mix it for you because the goat cheese gets stuck easily! I've also tried the Kbbq Steak Bowl and the Caramelized Garlic Steak; both were very mid since the meat is dry and rough and the sauce is just alright. The Kale Caesar is not bad but not as fulfilling as the Harvest Bowl. This 4/5 is specifically for that HARVEST BOWL! She's solid! read more

This place is truly love at first bite! Yesterday my company did catering from this restaurant and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I've only had the harvest bowl when I come to this restaurant, but it always hits the spot. I'm sure the other bowls are just as amazing but the harvest bowl is where it's at for me. It is packed with the freshest of ingredients, incredibly flavorful, not to mention super filling. Their portion sizes are big and plentiful. This is my go-to salad spot for work. The harvest bowl never disappoints, but ever since the Cote collab came out I've been eating the KBBQ Steak Bowl nonstop. I love getting double steak. The single portion leaves more to be desired. Can get pretty busy during lunch hours so allot your time accordingly. I do pickup and sometimes it's not ready at the stated time so I've learned to just come a bit later. My caramelized garlic steak bowl was supposed to come with wild rice, but I got mushy white rice instead. The sweet potatoes were so raw and hard that I couldn't eat any of it. What a disappointment! I've been eating here 5 days a week for the past few months. The food is good, healthy, and plenty of variations. I haven't gotten sick of salads yet and I've lost over 10 pounds. See photos - 10+ garbage cans in the lobby (and I had to move one with my foot so that I could get past the lobby door), and 1 open one in the elevator. This happens every morning. The smell is disgusting and an indication of the bad food that Sweetgreen serves. Went here on Monday lunch hour rush time and that is generally a good test for an outlet like sweetgreen. Not very impressed with how they were handling it. The place was a bit messy and they were handling food with a lot of rush. The take out container was already leaking by the time I got it. I took hot honey chicken but there was nothing hot about it. After spending 8 hours traveling, I just wanted a healthy meal. The salad looks great but I couldn't enjoy it because there was no utensils whatsoever in my bag. Not even napkins. Being that I'm staying in a hotel I had to use my fingers to eat some of the salad because I was starving. I couldn't enjoy the avocado or egg either, which was an additional charge, because it was whole without a way for me to cut anything up. I have a different issue with the 2nd street location in 2nd in san francisco. I went in yesterday and ordered 2 bowls. One custom and one shroomami. I don't know if the lady did not hear me but for my base I want half wild rice and half lettuce. In the picture you will see that there is no lettuce or double sweet potato/ mushrooms or any tofu. I was charged for double mushrooms but only had one scoop. The shroomami I was charged for extra mushrooms but in my opinion wasn't given extra mushrooms. Please refund me!!! read more

My first time to try it, though I have heard about this popular salad restaurant for a long time. I ordered a miso bowl. The serving size was larger than I expected. With $14.95, this is very reasonable. The ingredients in my salad were all fresh and tasted not bad. Besides, the restaurant was minimally decorated and created an atmosphere resembling nature. I also like their displaying where the ingredients come from. The stuff were also trained and made my salad quickly. So in general I think this place is a good choice for a convenient and healthy meal. Another good thing is that all bowls and plates are labeled with calories. Still it might be better if they could indicate the calories of their dressing, as I saw several (including me) asking dressing on the side. read more

I frequently order from this place and it consistently delivers! They give generous portions, although the price point generally reflects this as well. I usually choose one of the menu options when I walk in (haven't ordered online, but tip taken from some of you other reviewers!) Last time I was there I got the chicken and brussels and it was pretty good with the cranberry dressing! I ordered towards the end of the day and actually got a free dessert, which was dy-no-mite. Highly recommend their take on the rice crispy treat! I think the appeal of sweetgreen is its chain-wide consistency and reliability, and this instantiation delivers on those traits. Perhaps it's a victim of being in downtown SF, but I just wish they could set these prices a littleeee cheaper so I could justify eating here more often! read more

I got the Crispy Rice Bowl which was $13.95 This was my first time having Sweetgreen. It came with arugula, wild rice, chicken, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, almond, lime, and cilantro. He ended up doing another one since he grabbed the wrong salad mix. When it was time to start adding dressings and other toppings, he ended up getting confused with both of our salads and added things my boyfriend didn't want in his salad (Ex: almonds), and didn't seem that apologetic. His other colleague pointed out how he grabbed the wrong dressing that my fiancé wanted and almost used it instead of the goddess ranch dressing. My fiancé asked for a bit more, and it was just a small squirt. When it came to mine, it seemed okay tbh, but the attitude of the worker making our salads rubbed us the wrong way. Even when my fiancé asked for water cups, he ended up just telling him to ask someone else. *END RANT - FOOD REVIEW BELOW* Despite the odd service, the salads were okay tbh nothing exciting or mind blowing about these salads.
