They did not call to see where the location was and returned the order. Fast forward to receiving the now 2 hour late order of WARMED RAW SEAFOOD. One piece tasted off and I decided to not eat any of it out of concern for food poisoning. The overall restaurant appeared clean and well kept, however I did not care for the seating. The lunch special is well worth it, because you get to order two rolls for under $10. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll, plus the Shrimp Tempura and I was shocked on how quick we (4 people) received our food. I preferred the Shrimp Tempura over the Spicy Tuna because of the lack of taste. We moved here a couple of months ago and Miyabi Sushi was the first restaurant we tried when moving here. We hadn't been there since with trying other restaurants, so we figured we would sample more with our takeout and for the most part enjoyed our items. We got the Virginia Roll, Spicy Roll combo and Tuna & Yellowtail combo as well as Fried Rice and Pork Gyoza. We have plenty of leftovers, but all the sushi, we thought was tasty and tasted fresh. The Pork gyoza filling was good too. I didn't expect the Virginia Roll the way it was though. From reading the description, I thought the items would be all on it but it was more like shrimp tempura inside with each of the segments having either tuna salmon, yellowtail, or eel. The sushi was pretty good, but their ordering system was a little off. They kept forgetting the drinks that we had ordered. I guess the drinks andd food are separated, or just the kitchen staff sees the tickets and they don't come out with the food. I was super delighted with my experience with Miyabi Sushi. Yesterday I tried to place an order at 9:55pm(store closes at 10) the employee was kind enough to take my order and wait for me to pick it up. I ordered again today, this time with Ubereats, and I wanted to change sushi which I had already placed. I called them and they told me they would include both items free of charge because they can't keep sushi overnight. No business has ever gave me this type of service and treatment, no wonder my girlfriend has also loved this place for many years! Now on to the food, I ordered the spicy Nabe udon with spicy roll combo, crispy rock shrimp, and gyoza. As an Asian-American, who has eaten oriental cuisine for my whole life, I approve of this restaurant. Nabe udon tasted VERY fresh with lots of vegetables. Crispy rock shrimp was just so-so. Sushi was also very good. Also good value. But the best of all was the gyoza. This is not your typical fried dumplings you find at a chinese takeaway. This was an authentic gyoza pan fried, semi steamed. My girlfriend recommends the bento boxes. Better bento boxes than any other Japanese restaurants for sure. Take my word for it and try this restaurant if you haven't. My girlfriend has lived in Richmond for many years now and this is her go-to spot. This was the perfect place to satisfy a hungry traveler. I was visiting Richmond, and by the time I got in town, many places were getting ready to close. I found Miyabi Sushi on Yelp before opting to just get fast food. I'm so glad I did. Ordering was easy to do online, and it was ready in about 15 minutes! I ordered miso soup, California Rolls, and pork gyozas. All were delicious, HOT, and hit the spot. The soup was my favorite of what I got. It just really hit the spot after my long drive. I order from Miyabi Sushi through EatStreet all the time. They used to have free shipping but now they have $1 delivery fee. Their food is not the best but good enough I guess. It's good for college students around the area to get sushi delivered. However their service is horrible and will not take in any special requests such as asking for no wasabi or if I ask for a hand roll instead of the classic, they just give me the classic roll most of the times. The female host that always picks up the phone is not the best at English and is very rude most of the times. She also has to put me on hold every time I ask her something to go ask someone else for the answers. Hosts should really be trained well and improve their customer service skills. read more

My experience with Miyabi has been overall hit or miss; I would describe their food as "not phenomenal, but not terrible either". Their food is decently priced, but I will admit they cut their fish pretty thin. At my most recent visit, was impressed with the quality of their yellowtail, but not so much with the quality of their salmon. The Angry Lobster roll was pretty darn tasty though! One butteryfly roll and one crazy salmon roll. One order of edamame and one order of spring rolls. The sushi was disgusting, small, and tasteless and I suspect the yellowtail wasn't even yellowtail. The rolls were surprisingly just as tasteless. How did they manage it? Who knows. Maybe the answer is lost along with the answer to the question about how these guys think they should charge top dollar for this crap. . Moving onto the appetizers. The Edamame was fine, but that's a little hard to mess up. The spring rolls? Well, I bit into it and wondered if there was fish inside. I assumed they would be vegetarian. Horrid experience. Being asked "separate or together" before ordering makes one feel quite unwelcome, as though you're already on your way out the door before even dining. It wasn't mean, just incompetent. The interior was woefully humid with literally no air conditioning on a warm and rainy early June afternoon. There was no music, just stillness, and the dull murmur of a basketball game on the television. When ordering our entrées, we were bafflingly asked, "Soup or salad?". Now what kind of Japanese restaurant, where you're already overpaying because the establishment is somehow more upscale by virtue of the cuisine's reputation, makes the customer pick between the two basic staples of literally any Japanese meal at any Japanese restaurant in the United States? The food was the farthest from "Japanese" any Japanese food I've ever had the displeasure of eating. To add insult to injury, when the salad I picked (I can't believe I just typed that) came, it was evident that the ginger dressing was heavily watered down, and the proportion of iceberg lettuce was not generous to say the least. The tonkatsu consisted of a super-thin fried pork cutlet on a bed of lettuce (!?), not finely-cut cabbage, partitioned with orange (!?) next to a bed of rice topped with hibachi-style vegetables (!?) and an overcooked egg on top (!?). That is not tonkatsu - that is a monstrosity. It was as though the establishment had zero knowledge of what the very simple and traditional dish consists of. The "curry tonkatsu" was the same awful dish with a smidgen of curry sauce underneath the bizarre vegetable, not overtop the pork cutlet as is customary and sane. I'd heavily advise steering clear of this one. Whew! read more

I recently ordered delivery from Miyabi Sushi and I've got to say I'm very impressed! I ordered through grub hub at around 11:45 and was given a delivery estimate of 12:45-12:55 (which is expected). However, at 12:15, the delivery guy was already at my door! The food was super hot, fresh, and well packaged. The serving was perfect as well. I ordered the Miyabi Nabesoba which is a broth based noodle soup which had chicken, beef, shrimp, and imitation crab. I got it at a spicy level (which just meant chili paste was added). The soup was piping hot when I sat down to eat it. Perfectly cooked noodles, a ton of meat, and a poached egg on top! Of course it's not the best noodle soup I've had, however I was VERY pleased with the flavor and the amount of protein. I also got a side salad with the Miyabi nabesoba and an order of shui mai (nothing special - just your typical shrimp dumplings. But I loved the dumpling sauce it came with - I used to dip the protein from the soup as well). A great quick lunch that filled me up and doesn't give me that greasy feeling that other Asian take out places usually give me. Note - I've also visited the restaurant off 17th street for lunch! The restaurant is clean and beautiful. The wait staff is attentive and it's a wonderful spot to stop for a lunch or dinner. Look out for their bento box lunch deals! read more

My roommate and I were literally drooling waiting for our food to come! It took about 30-45 minutes which was understandable. The food was packaged SO nicely and they provided us sauces, napkins, utensils, soup, and salad. For what you pay, the food and service was great and I can't wait to order in on another rainy day. Overall, I would give my experience a 4/5. For the taste, the sesame chicken, spring roll, miso soup, salad, the sushi rolls, and fried rice were satisfying and fulfilled my sushi cravings. The hibachi was too sweet for my liking and the crab Rangoon had too much cream cheese vs. crab meat. Nothing tasted horrible, it's just that those weren't my cup of tea and I am probably not going to order again. Not bad, but nothing special really. I went here while in town on the recommendation of the hotel concierge. The house salad was a good size portion but went very heavy on the ginger dressing. The rolls tasted fresh and were well made, but nothing outstanding. 5 stars to the staff though who was extremely friendly and accommodating- excellent service. Just not a memorable meal overall. One comment on the decor- the flashing neon strip lights throughout the restaurant are a little much, but the ones mounted under the bar are just plain annoying. read more
