What a delight! I had been wanting some great Ramen since we got back to the states from Thailand and this hit the spot. I tried the veggie Ramen spicy however the tofu they offer is not firm so I did not prefer the tofu. I like my tofu burnt if I am eating it, not soft. I also trued the cucumber salad and it was refreshing! I wanted more! We went during dinner time and it was getting crowded. Thankfully we were able to be seated right away.

Very nice clean modern Japanese decor. And the service was pleasant. And I love that they have open kitchen, so you can actually watch them make your fresh food! The food was all good, but my favorite is the fried oyster and shrimp shumia. The soup was standard.

I've not had the best luck with ramen in RVA, but this has been my favorite so far. I went on a Monday night and they were pretty packed (it's a small spot), but we were still seated immediately. Our server was nice, but they forgot my order almost immediately and couldn't recall it as they were repeating back. They also forgot about one of our apps and it didn't come until we asked about it. The restaurant was a little messy. There were multiple places with napkins and papers balled up on the floor, things that would've taken a few seconds to pick up, just no one had bothered to. The ramen was so good, I got the Miso and my partner got the Tonkatsu. The broths were rich and flavorful, the meats were tender. The portion was on the small side though, which made the price seem too high for what they're giving. It's about $15 and I think I got maybe 3 bites of noodles. We also tried the chicken wings in spicy soy. Some of the smaller wings were way too hard and dry, but the meatier ones were perfect. But again, thoroughly enjoyed the ramen and would come back.

Service was great - everyone was very friendly and kind. I got the tonkotsu miso ramen (medium spice) and it satisfied the ramen craving. For Richmond, this is pretty good ramen. I would definitely go back!

So after a long day at work and it had rained all day a coworker and I decided we needed something hot and warm... We've been talking about going to Takara Ramen, so that was it! The food and the service and atmosphere is really nice. Food is cooked order and an open kitchen that you can see and the servers are very helpful with suggestions and making sure you have everything you need. We got theChicken MisoRamen, the Spicy Pork Ramen and the Bao Buns and if you want hot sauce, they have several different kinds.. They also have a selection of sake, which will have to wait till next time

One of the best ramen spots in the area. All the dishes are so flavorful. The karaage is perfectly fried and I love the hint of citrus in the sauce. They're very generous with the sauce in the age dashi tofu and don't let the color fool you, it's not too salty. You can't go wrong with any of the ramen dishes. The noodles were inconsistent though - some had traditional ramen noodles and others had thin egg noodles. The katsu curry was really good but they must have prepared the rest of the dish way before the pork finished frying because the curry was cold. Overall, Takara will satisfy your ramen cravings but they could be a little more consistent.

Nice little restaurant with a homey vibe. Could tell it was a spot for regulars because of how everyone knew each other and was bubbly. The food was super rich and filling. The broth for my tofu bowl was so good I have no complaints at all. The dumplings were alright, little flimsy but that's what I get for getting veggie dumplings.

A staple for ramen in Richmond! The prices are relatively average for a ramen restaurant, for about $15 not including tax or tips for a bowl. The takoyaki was delicious, and the interior is very cozy.

I got the spicy miso soup. It had pork, egg, beansprout, seaweed. The egg was over cooked which was disappointing. The spicy broth flavor was a bit overpowering, I tasted a lot more spice then savory. The pork was great, good amount of fat to leanness. Noodles were ok. It costed ~$17, which was a little more expensive compared to other places I've been. The the atmosphere felt very chill and open. The staff were very nice. Overall it felt average, but can satisfy a craving!

Been here two times. The staff was attentive. The seating is cozy and intimate. Like ordering the edamame and spicy miso ramen.

My 14 year old son and I drove from Mechanicsville to try their ramen and traditional Japanese curry with beef. It was worth the 20 minute drive. The tables were busy at 7:30pm on a Friday, but we were able to sit at the bar. I would recommend either the Kirin Light or Sapporo beer on tap. After a warm afternoon, it was really refreshing! The edamame was excellent and my 14-year old son devoured the gyoza pieces. I enjoyed the Japanese curry with beef and rice (definitely a classic comfort food dish - especially with Kirin beer). My son got the Tonkotsu classic ramen, but he though it was a bit too salty. I might stay away from this dish if you prefer less sodium. All in all, we left Takara Restaurant in a happy and satisfied state of mind. Overall, I think this is the best option for izakaya style meals and ramen in the Richmond area.

The interesting thing about placing the order is that you also pay when the order is placed, then they bring the food out when it's made. They were helpful in explaining to me how to modify a dish and they also gave great recommendations, as well as kept up with my liking of the food and experience while I was there. I ordered their red oil wontons and their cumin lamb noodles, but I subbed the lamb for beef. This came out before the wontons and it looked and smelled great! The beef was very tender, so were the amazing noodles! The spices were so tasty and offered a decent kick, but not too hot. I love stir-fried onions in dishes like this and these were so good that I tried to enjoy one piece with each bite of noodle and beef. The red oil wontons were incredible! The flavor of the oil was perfect! Exactly what it should be and it offered a very nice kick of heat too! This was one of the best wontons I've had in a long time! I'd definitely like to go back and try their soup dumplings. Overall this was a great experience into non-American Chinese food, one that everyone who enjoys American Chinese food should try!

We all got ramen and the portions were huge. Broth was flavorful and delicious. Really loved the beef gyoza too. We ordered from the kiosk because we wanted to customize our sushi. Service was ... not super fast but not so slow that it would be a deal breaker for coming back. Staff was very friendly. Overall - we would make the drive here next trip to KD, even though it's about 20 minutes from the park. If we were local I could see eating here quite often! Edit: we liked it so much we came back our second night in Doswell. I had a poke bowl and it did not disappoint. So much protein - plenty of shrimp and the crab salad on top was delicious. Loved the yum yum sauce. I should have ordered the sauces on the side, though, as it was a bit too much for my taste. My husband ordered the fried chicken and the portion was giant! When you walk in, the staff acknowledges you right away, which I always appreciate. The drinks and food come out pretty fast, and the environment is clean, fun, and relaxed. One of the faucets was slightly broken and the water pressure was very low, but that was the only issue I noticed. The drinks were good, and the seafood boil was amazing. The crabs were big, meaty, juicy, and the flavor was excellent. They play music that fits the culture and the vibe of the restaurant, which makes the atmosphere fun. The only thing I would suggest is possibly keeping the music censored earlier in the day since families and kids may be present. Some people may not mind, but it stood out to me.
