I chose not to even give this place a try after she was rude at our first interaction. I said hello, and she snapped back at me 'how many?!' aggressively with a scowl. I looked at her and asked for a menu because I wasn't even sure if I wanted to eat there. During these times, being rude definitely doesn't help local people support local businesses. I went next door and gave my money to Nalu's Hawaiian Fish Grill where they were FAR MORE pleasant. The lady at Miyako sushi's behavior was disgusting because she did this in front of my son and it made him so uncomfortable. Such a sad experience. We were excited to try this place because it seemed popular and it had good reviews. Boy was that a mistake. We were seated at 6pm and we had our order taken like any normal restaurant. We were talking so we didn't really notice how long it was taking at first but around 7:20 the server came back and said that they had lost our order! So nobody had even been preparing our food the whole 1 hour and 20 minutes!!! Not sure how this is even possible but it actually got worse from there... They take our order again and finally bring out HALF of our order after another 10 minutes. We had to ask for chopsticks since we released we weren't given any utensils and then after the server left again we realized we didn't have napkins. Ugh another thing to ask for. Anyway, we ate the half of our order they brought out and the server came back asking how things were and we said we were still waiting on a roll. And then he proceeded to tell us we were WRONG and that was the only thing. So we explain all over what we ordered again and he looks and apologizes as the chefs "got confused" or something. We finally get the other part of our order after another 10 minutes (at this point we just wanted to leave) and they forgot the miso soup that comes with the order...... The best part is that they actually got the second half of our order wrong. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo, but they gave us the sushi combo. So yeah at that point we were done with all this annoyance that was supposed to be our nice dinner out and didn't bother asking for the miso. If you're looking for a place to get sushi, don't bother with this place. There are plenty of other good sushi spots around! read more

Where to begin? This place is amazing and the staff team is friendly. Joy is a fav., I also like their "See you tomorrow"! We just moved to San Clemente and we had to find the best sushi nearby. After trying 4 places we did not have to look further. The atmosphere, comfort, diversity of rolls, & friendly staff did it for us. Normally I'm good with photos but we seem to always be done with the food. :D Each weekly visit includes, 2 Lg Sopporos, 1 Lg Hot Sake, Garlic Edamame, Miyako Roll, Ken Special, & Fiesta Roll. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this spot! They are friendly, knowledgeable and their fish is incredibly fresh. They have more options for celiac customers than I've ever seen, including ponzu! Gin is a bright light, welcoming everyone warmly and somehow remembering everyone's names. It's clear why they're always busy and their fish is always fresh. My wife and I are locals in San Clemente. We are, or were, regulars at Miyako Sushi - usually having dinner there 3 or 4 times a month for the last 2 years. We visited last night after being in Europe for most of May, and we were shocked by how much they had raised their prices. On average it was 24% more. I thought it odd that the sushi bar was nearly empty when we arrive during a usually busy time, but never thought there was an underlying reason. Last night was our final dinner because, in addition to the price increase, the owner/manager informed be they would begin charging $25/bottle corkage for the wine I bring in. It had been no charge for 2 years. My typical dinner would increase by about $55. It's ok food, but certainly not worth the price increase. I told the owner we would never be back again. I got a shrug for my efforts. By the way, their suggested tips are based on the total bill including sales tax. That's a no-no for me. I don't tip on tax. Greedy and short sited restaurants owners don't earn my patronage. read more

I was craving sushi and this place was in my neighborhood so i had to give it a try. I got the green salad, crunch roll, and the chicken teriyaki bento box. They were all soo bomb! The rolls were tightly packed, and the chicken in the bento box was perfectly cooked and not dry at all, which I've sadly gotten a lot in bento boxes. The portion sizes were pretty big too, my boyfriend and I split all this and we were struggling to finish. They also were super welcoming and nice when we walked in, and even said thank you for supporting our business like no thank YOU for making my bomb a$$ dinner! Will def be coming back! And yes a woman that worked there walked by us at least 5 times so they knew we were waiting. Finally my daughter asked if we could put our names in. We usually eat at Full Moon Sushi which is right next door in the next parking lot but they close at 8 so we thought we would try this place. ..I gave 2 stars since the food was decent but when you walk into a restaurant you should be greeted..even if it is just a hello. This place was a bit more expensive but the rolls were bigger. This is one of my favorite sushi restaurant in San Clemente. I got the Ashley roll (which had yellowtail, mango, avo), salmon handroll, and salmon cut roll. I enjoyed everything, which is rare!! My boyfriend (who does not eat that much raw fish and is super picky, thought the fish looked very fresh). The handroll was super good! Lots of salmon, rice and little cute sprouts (aka my favorite). I thought the Ashley roll was nice, never had mango in my sushi but this was really good. I think this restaurant could actually compete against sushi restaurants in LA! Once quarantine is over, my boyfriend and I want to eat in the restaurant since they display the rolls really nicely. Would come back :) read more

Terrible service. They charge for eel sauce even though we dropped over $200 on sushi they wouldn't spare an eel sauce or two. I'm surprised the sushi tasted like grocery store sushi or worse due to the expensive prices and they are near the ocean. Not to mention their prices online are not updated so when we went in to pay our order came out to be way more than we expected. Also it was a 2 hour wait for our phone order since they prioritize the people eating in the restaurant. I've never heard of a place not taking orders in the order they come and prioritizing those in the restaurant even after they showed up way later then us. I DO NOT recommend eating here and will never be back. read more
