This restaurant is much like all the other's with its name. Food was what I expected and the price is fair. My most favorite part about this restaurant is dessert. They have the best deaserts ever. The food was actually kind of good. However, the wait time to someone getting our drink order was 5-10 minutes. Then after we ate, it took almost 30 minutes to get the check. The servers seemed more busy being social than doing their job. I would not recommend this place to anyone because of the service. I have been eating at Miyo's for 12 years, and can honestly say, there is no better place to find Asian cuisine in the Columbia area! The quality of the food is impeccable, the staff and service outstanding, and the atomosphere inviting. I recently had the opportuinity to dine at the newly opened Miyo's of Lexington, and of course had the same quality and service as always, but with an added bonus. I learned that owner, Michelle Wang, is well versed in area of food allergies, in particular, gluten. She was able to tell us what to avoid, and pointed out several dishes that were gluten-free. She has even read a book to learn more about gluten, as many of her customers are gluten intolerant. That's just one more reason Miyo's is a five star restaurant. So no matter which Miyo's you choose, you can expect consistently outstanding quality food and service each and every time you visit. read more

I have been eating at Myios for years and even after moving to Florida, I do my best to get to a Myios when I do return to SC. Tonight's meal was a big disappointment. Service was mediocre at best. I made a mess of the appetizer sauce on the table, and the waitress never noticed it to clean it up. Just plopped the plates right on top of a mess. I notice my plate has a huge chip on it. I took a picture of it with my fork as perspective. When I complained to the "shift leader" about it, she shrugged and said they try to catch all the broken ones, but stuff happens in the kitchen as they are "slinging plates." She makes it sound as if this used to be fine eating establishment is nothing more than a diner. The only time our water was filled up, my husband's empty glass was filled and mine was not topped off. I know these may seem like petty complaints, but I expect a certain standard of service which was not met, compounded by an attitude by the shift leader that I dare complain about a huge chip on my plate, which, frankly, did not help my appetite. Shame on you for letting your standards fall! And don't try to use the restroom, because the hallway is so dimly lit, a flashlight would be helpful. read more

The only reason gave this a star is because the waitress was good and the lettuce wraps were ok, but overall the food was as good as the cheap Chinese restaurant down the street. Not only is this place suffering from a severe identity crisis, the food's lack luster flavors portrays Asian cuisine in a negative light. I've travelled all over Asia for a total of over 20 years and never have I ever had anything so UN-Asian. To top it all off, due to the shared ventilation system with the tobacco shop next door, you get to enjoy your sorry excuse for food with a side of tobacco. This was a really amazing experience! First off, it's a very nice open and bright restaurant. Also our waitress was very helpful and took extra care when we mentioned that my mom had a dietary issue, letting us know what she could and could not order and getting substitutions made. So that really made our night. I ordered the mu shu shrimp with the pancakes and fried rice and it was delicious. We also had split a tempure appetizer, which was light and crispy, and each had a a soup. Mine was egg drop and it was nice. Also, my dad and I got dessert and while I was denied trying the green tea cheesecake (we went to the restaurant late, so they had ran out, no fault on them.) the godiva chocolate cake was divine. The one good/bad thing is there was enough food that I brought home seconds, but I always like a left over lunch so I'm counting it as a good thing. read more

Great food. It is unlikely you will be disappointed with anything off the menu. For specific recommendations, I can only speak to the sushi as that is what I always order; it is always fresh and they have really great rolls. My only negative is that a meal here can get a bit pricey for a family, but that is to be expected for good food in the Columbia, SC area, I suppose. The service is usually spot on. Very solid menu. General Tso's chicken and beef entrees are off the charts delicious. Szechuan Chicken is very spicy, but so worth it. Egg drop soup is under-flavored, but Miso soup is great. Probably the worst restaurant service we've gotten in South Carolina. Everything took way too long, we should have just walked out during the 20 min we waited for the server to greet us at our table. There were only 3 other tables seated while we were there. Server finally came then disappeared for another 20 min only to get drink orders wrong, didn't provide silverware or chopsticks, was nearly impossible to track down, and frankly just seemed weird. We recently paid our second visit to Miyo's and I must say, it has become one of my favorite places to dine. The appetizer was a beautiful rose made from very rare Tuna. The Tuna was as tender and sweet as I've ever tasted. My entree' was their Szechuan Braised Eggplant. The dish normally includes minced chicken andshrimp, but I opted out on the shrimp. The dish was a feast for the eyes. The beautiful purple eggplant pieces were complemented with a generous serving of minced chicken in a rich and amber colored spicy sauce. It was to die for. We ended the meal with their Godiva Chocolate cake and coffee. Prices were very reasonable and the service was very friendly and efficient. No complaints. Enjoy! read more

So Me and my Wife went to the bar on Tuesday July 2nd for our anniversary. Our bartender was awful first off. Brittney or Brady I think was her name. Wife asked for a Bloody Mary and why did she get a drink full of Tomato juice. The service was decent but she barely came to us. only to give us our drink and food. Not once wanting to come refill my tea. She kept walking in another room on her phone or talking to the other servers. I will not be coming back to this location. Went here on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my friend's academy graduation. There were four of us. I didn't really appreciate the lack of attention we got from our waiter. It took her a long time to come check on us. Whenever we had questions she seemed to be impatient. For my appetizer I got the pork & veggies spring-rolls. I didn't like them because they were full of oil. I could see the oil through the rolls. There wasn't any meat hardly. When I bit into it, oil just dripped out. For my entree I got the Shanghi. It didn't have any flavor at all. I really didn't like it. Overall I would go back to that place. read more

I've been to Miyo's at several locations and this is my favorite. I've never been disappointed with the food. The Hawaiian roll is the best sushi bite I've ever had anywhere. The appetizers are interesting, unique, and delicious. The rose tuna tataki is our favorite. My son always orders the sushi and sashimi combo and loves it. The service is very inconsistent here. Service at the Forest Drive is much better, but the sushi at this location is by far the best. The wait can be very long even when the restaurant does not appear to be crowded. I've been willing to tolerate the poor service because the food is unique and delicious. read more

My husband, daughter, and I had the pleasure of dining here for the first time tonight. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was impeccable. I have dietary issues which do not allow me to eat any sugar at all, and the chef was accommodating enough to work with that. Just witnessed one of the nastiest things that can be done at a restaurant at this miyos location. I personally witnessed a waitress place a customer's used glass into the ice well and filled it with ice. This was the same ice well used to fill our glasses at the bar (we were near the ice well). The waitress removed the customers straw and dipped the cup in the ice well. I immediately decided we should stop eating there given this revelation end asked for a manager. I explained the issue to the supervisor on duty. I didn't get the feeling they understood the issue. I also feel as though they were getting offended that I was bringing the issue up to them. I mentioned that I would be inclined to contact Dhec and the owner of the establishment. What she seems to not understand is that anyone can get sick with the possible transfer of diseases through this practice. After explaining myself I asked for the check and left. I hate this result because the food is always great. This health practice is the worst! read more

I had been told by a couple of people that Miyo's was the best chinese in Columbia. Really? My first trip was pretty nasty and resulted in my not eating but a few bites of my food. I had the coconut green chicken curry. First, I saw no coconut milk at all. Second, no green curry taste either. Third, and worst, the texture of the sauce was gooey, slimy and gloppy. . .like stick to the roof of your mouth feeling. Wow. Truly a terrible tasting meal. On the plus side, my waiter was nice and the ambiance was great. However, if this is the best Columbia has to offer, I have to learn how to cook Chinese at home! read more
