    Angry Dragon

Mizu is right next to the Publix I shop at. I'm there 2-3 times a week some weeks, and I'm shocked I've never stopped in Mizu. My desire for a specialty sushi roll finally sent me inside! I ordered the Angry Dragon. Tempura shrimp, mango, spicy tuna, wrapped with soy paper and topped with krab salad and eel sauce and mango sauce. I love sauces and both were great! When you got a bite with all the flavors I described above, it was a great bite. Where things feel short was if you didn't get that perfect bite. The rice had no seasonings. The tempura shrimp had no seasoning. And the spicy tuna had been pulverized into almost a spread. Not what I was expecting at all and not appealing. I will try a roll again and just stay away from the spicy tuna. I like the use of soy paper over seaweed, so I'm thinking next up, the Winter Roll.

Mizu is right by my grocery store, and everytime I would go shopping, I would always smell how AMAZING their food was. For some reason, I never tried it. Until today I had a craving for a spicy chicken bowl over white rice. After looking at several different menus at different places and not finding what I was looking for, I decided to look at their menu to see what they had to offer. Not only did they have your classic hibachi style meals and sushi, they also had a cheaper section of the menu called "Kitchen Bowls," and they had the EXACT meal I was looking for- The Spicy Chicken Bowl. I placed the order online, and when I arrived, I noticed they had a drive thru window for pick up orders on the side of the building. So I drove through the drive thru, picked up my order, & went home. The bowl had white rice, spicy fried chicken bites, peppers and onions, topped with white sauce and spicy Mayo. I also got a side of fried rice (not pictured), and it tasted JUST like Yokoso fried rice- my favorite I highly recommend Mizu, you will not be disappointed- with the taste OR price!

This place is in the same spot the burger place Hwy 55 was at. I was skeptical at first since they just opened but I saw the menu prices and decided to give it a shot. The staff is very inviting and accommodating. I ate during lunch hours and everything I ordered tasted really fresh (sushi and sesame chicken). The portion sizes are very generous and I was able to save half of my order to take home. The presentation of their plates is very beautiful even if they aren't a fancy sushi place. I was happy with the variety of the menu and also the prices. In general, I recommend giving this place a shot. I will say it's better than Yummy Yummy across the street. Both places are great but Mizu's sushi fish tastes a lot fresher and of better quality. Definitely plan on coming back especially as I do some weekly shopping at Publix grocery store.

On one side it is an "all you can eat" menu. On the other side, you order à la carte off of a regular menu. On the all-you-can-eat side, it appears you'll probably need a reservation, as it is quite popular. We did not have a reservation but didn't want all you can eat anyway, so we sat on the side with the regular menu. The menu is quite large, with a good variety of sushi and other dishes. We got there during happy hour, and they had some great deals on appetizers, certain types of sushi, and drinks. Every employee that we encountered was friendly and helpful. The presentation of the food was lovely, as you can see from the photos below, but overall, the food was just so-so. The sushi was good, but definitely not the best I've ever had. It wasn't terrible, just nothing to write home about. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer and that was not great, compared to other restaurants. It was fairly thick and heavily battered (as far as calamari goes), and tasted as if the oil hadn't been changed in a while. We also ordered regular egg rolls, which were OK. As far as ambience, for some reason many restaurants play loud music that isn't suitable for dining (have they always done this and I just never noticed?), and this is one of them. Overall, I do feel that we received good food for the price, and again, all of the employees were stellar. We will probably try this location again.

I appreciated how they filled their spicy tuna rolls with chunky pieces of fish instead of the usual ground tuna used in other sushi restaurants. Their offerings and methods of preparation, paired with their higher price point, suggests they are a higher end establishment. However, the atmosphere was undoubtedly on the casual side, and their service, although friendly and knowledgeable, exuded a lack of experience and the same attention to detail that they put into their food. This was especially apparent after coming from eating at other restaurants in a similar price bracket, where you can sense the waitstaff had a lot of pride and passion for their craft, and it didn't feel like it was just a job for them. In contrast, our experience at Shiki felt far more transactional, and lacked that "customer obsession" and genuine warmth. That said, it's difficult to judge a restaurant's culture just from a single night, and maybe other customers had a different experience from us. Ultimately, if good sushi is your priority and you are willing to splurge a bit, Shiki meets and even exceeds that bar.

They exist, but some of the best are so unassuming you can walk right past them. Shiki is exactly that kind of place--a small, warm, inviting restaurant tucked into a strip mall that feels like a neighborhood secret. Loc, our waiter, greeted us as soon as we sat down with water, a friendly welcome, and a helpful walk-through of the menu. We started with wine and sake--always a promising beginning. The first course was seaweed salad with baby octopus, and I could have happily sipped that dressing like a cocktail. Light, bright, perfectly balanced, with tender octopus that added just the right bite. From there we decided to sample our way through the menu and ordered a lineup of rolls: Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Shiromi, Rainbow, Spider, Lemon Salmon, and Eel. Each one seemed better than the last. The Spicy Shiromi was the clear standout--absolutely spectacular. What really sets Shiki apart is that every roll has its own distinct flavor instead of the one-note sameness you find at so many sushi spots. You can tell real care goes into the preparation. If you're searching for fresh, thoughtful, genuinely delicious sushi, don't overlook this little gem. Shiki is the real deal.

Very limited seating across the room but we luckily we snagged a reservation. Our server was very friendly and went over some specials with us before taking our drink orders and inquired about allergies. We went family style and started with the crispy tuna rice, marinated cucumbers, dumplings and pork bao. We added on a few rolls and ended with the sesame lamb noodles and duck fried rice. The dumplings were unique with this crispy shell on top and had a creamier sauce. We did have to ask for soy sauce which is usually something we expect to get right away after ordering sushi. He gave us one dish of soy instead of all of our own which I thought was weird so we asked for more. I enjoyed the textures of the dumplings but I felt the sauce lacked a bit in flavor to complement the dumplings. Crispy rice looked appealing but we were all disappointed with the lack of flavor, especially in the tuna mixture alright the textures were on point. The sushi rolls were made well and you get about 5 bigger pieces. The best thing we had were the cucumbers! Simple and delicious, packed with flavor. The sesame lamb noodles were also prepared well, and had nice flavors overall that were unique. We spent about $200 per couple which I felt was quite steep for the amount of food we got, but overall I would say we enjoyed ourselves but a few things just fell short on flavors.
