Review update- I know I've been here before five years ago what my last review says, but recently came over for a lunch between work. Boy It's as good as I remember. All you can eat is the way to go, $19 for lunch. I got the spicy Kani salad to start which was just perfect texture and spice and all things nice and then I ordered three rolls and my business partner got three rolls as well and the Kyogi and crab Rangoon. Everything was delicious and tasty and again you just can't go wrong with that. All you can eat service was friendly and quick and easy. You pick a drink from their drink wall and I believe you can get ice cream too, but we were too full. Definitely would recommend. read more

The service is always friendly and attentive, the price is insanely good for the value... and the options are nearly endless as they include appetizers, salads, sushi, fried rice, noodles, ice cream, soda, and more. Favorite apps: spring rolls, tuna, and gyoza... and don't skip the salad with the ginger and carrot dressing! Nagoya has an amazing value for the selection and quality sushi on their all you can eat lunches and dinners. I've been here a few times and the service is always very fast. It's not a buffet, you order each menu item separately, but it still comes out very quickly. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. They recently doubled their amount of seating by taking over the space next door so I've never had to wait on a table. I was in GR yesterday and searched for AYCE sushi, and this was the top of the list in the area, so I took a leap. It was about 6 pm, so I was happy to get a table for 1. The menu was pretty decent, and for $29, I was excited. The waitress was excellent and helped me to get some quick appetizers and a beverage within 5 minutes of sitting down. I had all three apps from the menu along with a salad, followed by a nice sampling of sashimi and then 3 rolls and a little ice cream. Not a thing ordered disappointed me! The sashimi was cut nice and thick and was presented nicely. Each app was flavorful and different than the other, so I was happy to taste each of them. The mango was freshly cut and diced too, which was excellent. The three rolls I got were packed full of flavor, and my favorite was the Hellfire, followed by the Crunchy Crab. I wish I had room for more because there were so many to choose from. In the end, I will definitely be back again soon and hope the next experience will be even better! read more

This hibachi grill was over rated. Chicken and scallops were over cooked and way too salty for me. Miso soup, salad and lots of vegetables were great! Brandon was entertaining and we tipped him to show him our appreciation. It too forever (longer than 20 minutes) to get boxes and our check after asking for it. I normally come in and get the same roll everytime I come in. Today they made my sushi incorrectly. They told me to bring it in so they could fix it & then once I came in told me they couldn't fix it & then made me pay for what they messed up. On top of that they wouldn't remake it even though it was cold because they told me to bring it back in. This used to be my favorite sushi place but I will not be back after this. Especially with your hosts laughing about it to my face. Super disrespectful. Why tell me to come back to fix it if you're not going to fix it? Then when I had to pay for what THEY messed up and they try to tell me this is the same shrimp??? It always has 2 pieces & today it had one and they tried to give me the excuse of they lined it up when it's the smallest I've ever had. So that seemed pretty intentional too. Ordered a dinner for delivery on a Sunday evening. Ordered miso soup, shrimp shumai, salad, edamame and shrimp tempura. My first and last time with this place. The best and only good item was the salad with a very nice ginger dressing. Second was the edamame which was ok but sopping wet. All the rest were ruined by the addition of Way, Way too much salt!!! They must have emptied an entire salt shaker on just my food. Without the excessive salt the tempura would have been ok. As would have the soup although it was very thin and almost void of tofu, seaweed and onions. The shumai was horrible, being a dumpling shell with some watery paste inside. Shrimp or even shrimp flavor was totally absent. I eat Japanese food quite often and this is a terrible excuse for a Japanese restaurant. If you want good, authentic Japanese go to the Tokyo Grill in Kentwood. Which I normally do and will not stray from again. It's now Tuesday following my review. No response from Nagoya, no apology or even an excuse. As I said, this is a dismal excuse for a restaurant. read more

Actually pretty yummy for the price. Got a ton of different rolls that I can't remember the names of and I enjoyed them all! Sauces were all fantastic and had that classic umami flavor. I particularly liked the rolls with fresh fish on top (no fishy flavor!) and the fried rolls. The fried rolls had a nice crunch to them and worked well with all the sauces/toppings. The unlimited lunch special is definitely the best value. Appetizers were pretty small and underwhelming but good for the price. I'd recommend sticking to the fancier rolls if you decide to come here. Service was fine, nothing over the top. Inside was tad bit dirty and the menus were really greasy which was off-putting. I could eat sushi every day and never get sick of it. I love most types of rolls and all sashimi. So, imagine my excitement when I learned about Nagoya, an all you can eat sushi spot. It's not a buffet, you just order everything you'd like as you want it. The prices are incredible - I have no idea how they can stay open. For all you can eat at dinner it was only $30 per person, and it's cheaper at lunch, but with fewer options. Nate and I ordered six rolls, a bunch of sashimi, some appetizers, and a dessert. Everything is included in the price. The menu includes soups, five different types of salads, 14 different appetizers, fried rice or noodles, 20+ special rolls, and 30+ classic rolls that you can also order as hand rolls. Plus a beverage (pop or hot tea) and a choice of two desserts. *insert mind blown emoji here* The rolls we ordered were all very good - nicely rolled and not overly stuffed with rice. The menu has the special rolls categorized by cooked vs raw, which was helpful as I prefer mostly raw fish rather than deep fried options. The jalapeno yellowtail appetizer was amazing. The fish tasted really fresh and had a delicious sauce on top. We also enjoyed the spicy kani salad, which was a nice portion and really delicious. I used this as an opportunity to try some rolls I'd never had before, like the salmon skin roll. We had great service while we were there - a server came by our table several times so we could order more food. They don't serve alcohol, but I don't really care about that. The space isn't very big and the majority of the tables were occupied when we arrived, so there may be a wait. I can't wait to go back! read more

I've ordered take out from Nagoya a few times now, and every time I'm not disappointed! Today I decided to stop by with a friend and dine in, and it was great! It was a bit difficult to find, however, I'm not the brightest when it comes to directions. I ordered the sashimi deluxe (which is what I usually get) and it was perfect! The fish quality was excellent and better than some places that I've tried. My friend loved her two rolls that she ordered, and towards the end, I also ordered three rolls for to go for my sister, which she thought were delicious! You can order rolls on their menu separately, or you can do their all you can eat deal (AYCE). On Sunday's they only do the AYCE dinner for the entire day for $26.99. On the weekdays, they have AYCE lunch for $17. I'll definitely have to come back and try it out! read more

Always a plus when parking is easy. As you enter you find yourself in a plain, almost cafeteria style room. Not a lot of decor, or glassware. There were plenty of tables available and we were told to just grab any table. I ordered many rolls, and they were all decent. They made some of them so large you couldn't get it in your mouth. They don't serve alcohol, so I just stuck with water, but I'm a firm believer that alcohol, and sushi are a must if I'm gonna make a place my go to. The service didn't really exist. The waitress only came back to the table once. This seems to be a common thing when it comes to all you can eat. Limit the amount of service so that people order less. Was also a common thing, we found, in Vegas so I can't say I'm surprised. Overall, this was what we expected in a all you can eat sushi restaurant. I can say that the sushi is pretty good. My only comment is that they use a lot of rice and it doesn't have a tight roll so some of them are overly large. Other than that, if you're looking for a great price and lots of food then this place is great. The restaurant is clean which is always great. My review is a reflection of all you can comparisons so I guess you can conclude that it's pretty good. I ordered through door dash for a pick up order for a Friday lunch! It took about 20 mins for it to be ready. Right when you walk in, there is a hostess area where you wait to either be seated or tell them you're there for a pickup. This was the only not great part. A group of 2 ahead of me put their name down on a waiting list to be seated and then walked outside, then the host walked away and didn't come back from another 10 minutes even though it's a small restaurant and he could see me and one other person behind me standing and waiting. Granted they were super busy but I wish I would have at least been acknowledged sooner. Besides that, the food was GREAT! They have a lunch special where you pick 3 classic sushi rolls for $15.95. It is a great deal and it was a lot of sushi. I got the eel and cucumber roll, salmon avocado roll, and spicy tuna roll. It also comes with a cup of miso soup which was very tasty. I didn't know all you can eat sushi existed! Let's go!!! Let me warn you up front...only order what you will actually eat. They will charge you for whatever you don't eat lol....no seriously. At the time of this review it is $28/person and it is totally worth it. Think buffet but made to order. So you can order anything on the menu as much as you want but again, make sure you'll eat it all or be prepared to pay for what remains as to go items. We tried several different rolls and forgive me I have forgotten what all of them are called. I know one was the Godzilla Roll. We got spring rolls and STOP THE PRESSES! The calamari here is off the doggone chain! If you like fried calamari you will love how they do it. This ain't no small baby squid here. Nice good sized pieces and they drizzle this yummy orange sauce over it. We were not expecting the great food we had at this place. It's located in a discreet little plaza but this unassuming gem is a standout. You might expect the service to be bad in an all you can eat place but our experience was really good. Our server checked in on us regularly to see if we wanted to order more food! This is a place that should never get old because of the menu variety and the ability to try so many different things in one visit. We will definitely be back. read more

This is the first 4.5 star restaurant I found on Yelp I thought was really a 3.5. It's not really sushi, it's all you can eat. I had the clear soup and it first came out room temp and when they brought me hot soup it was bland. The sweet potato roll was OK but the rice was missing something. The sushi wasn't very fresh, either. The golden mango roll was the best thing I had and it was meh. My companion had chicken fried rice. It was mostly devoid of chicken and egg and had no vegetables. She had an avocado salad which was also meh. The service was good. It's an all you can eat place with no alcohol. If you value quality over quality, this is your place. read more

We came here because we really wanted to try the all you can eat sushi option. The appetizers were excellent (tried the crab Rangoon and gyoza). We tried a few different rolls and everything was good. The price was great and we definitely ate our moneys worth. The Good: dont let exterior looks fool you... the place is WELL maintained from the inside, all tables and chairs look BRAND NEW! Service was incredible. She kept up with our table just that right amount. It is an "All you can eat" type food. For people who never experienced it, you pay a fixed amount of $26.99 for dinner and almost half that for lunch, and you have to place your orders on the table. You will be charged for leftovers. Some would wonder why I placed that under "Good", and the reason is I support mindful eating. I enjoyed every single item we ordered from their menu. I highly suggest going through the menu one single category at a time. You will be able to explore their menu fully, have sometime between dishes, and get you'r money's worth. Note: this method might not work for everybody, but I like to act like I know what i'm talking about. The Bad: The place was not busy when we dined in which reflects how much business they are getting unfortunately. It looked like they were getting pick up orders tho. Our food took a minute to comeout, although this should be normal for "cooking fresh food", I made it a point to say that out loud because I know other reviewers will exaggerate their wait timeand as a result give lower ratings. I am rating this restaurant "good" because I think the quality of fish that is offered for an AYCE Sushi Restaurant in Grand Rapids is...good! I came here for dinner with my girlfriends on a Friday night. The restaurant wasn't busy; the hostess immediately sat us and grabbed our drinks. We ordered a bunch of random rolls off of the AYCE menu, and they were pretty large. At one point, we were thinking that we weren't going to be able to finish our order, but we powered through! I would say that the rolls here are pretty standard, and you can find them at any other regular sushi restaurant. The thing that really surprised me about Nagoya was that their sushi apps were BOMB. I would come here and pay the dinner AYCE price and just order a copious amount of Yellowtail Apps. The yellowtail tasted fresh, the ponzu wasn't overbearing, and the sashimi slices were larger than expected. I haven't been able to convince my husband to come with me since he's a die hard fan of Tokyo & Beema, but I definitely want to give this place another shot so that I can give it a better review...and have more Yellowtail Apps. read more

I really enjoyed my lunch all you can eat experience. I had to order some of the cooked food already to feed my toddlers as they can't have raw fish yet. While I normally wouldn't do this bc it takes up tummy space that I need to reserve for sushi, I'm glad I did. The fried rice and noodles were pretty good too. I honestly wasn't expecting much with the sushi but oh boy was I impressed! I loved Garden Roll, the Golden Mango Roll, and the 28th St Roll.
