The breakfast burrito isn't bad. But the coffee here is terrible. I accidentally picked the wrong latte option for a iced latte. So when I got there and it was hot I asked of they can make it iced. But nope I had to spend extra 4-5bucks on a iced hazelnut latte and it was loaded with so much syrup, it was gross. The coffee quality isn't great. Maybe i'd come back for food but def will cross the street to Paderia for coffee. Shoot ill even take starbucks over this. read more

I just reminded myself this morning of why I don't eat here. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado. I got an egg and cheese sandwich. They added the bacon after I said something. I stated there was no avocado to which she pointed out there was avocado. I had to pull the sandwich apart to find the tiny slice they had smeared on one side. Really? If I am going to pay $11+ for a breakfast sandwich then I would expect it to have more than a tiny slice smeared on one side of the bread and have the bacon I asked for. Won't be eating here anymore. How do you not have Bread or other ingredients for a sandwich? And how do you do it several times? Impressive. And snarky staff, another bonus. The food is ok and cheaper than Specialties (who's single handedly destroying the rain forest with all the layers of paper they use to wrap a sandwich), but it's time to go with Ambrosia. This place is amazing! I am currently sitting here eating my Tuscan chicken panini as I write this review and it is absolutely delicious! I don't know how anyone could leave a negative review about this place, especially over silly things like not getting a free cookie. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and they always greet me when I come in. I eat here 2-3 times a week and have never had anything short of great food and service. Yes lunch time gets a bit busy, but that's bc this place is worth the wait. And it's definitely not pricey. I've never paid more than $9 for anything on the menu and their portions are quite large! Food quality is great too, and healthy. I'm a personal trainer next door at Equinox and I can tell you 90% of our trainers come here when we need a quick healthy bite, they have great options! 10/10 recommend read more

Ordered a coffee and an avocado toast online through their website - easy ordering and payment options. When it was time for my order to be ready I went down there and it was ready. Best of all, it was beautiful! Thick wheat toast, arugula, a lot of avocado and a sprinkling of a spicy salt on top. Delicious! For a really great lunch I will add an egg on top next time. I work in the this office park center and will no longer be going to MJs. The food is mediocre at best. Also, the prices they post on the board are less than what they actually charge you. I attempted to ask a employee named Eldi about this and we told that "he could care less and could not change the price to reflect what it says on the board." Great for breakfast; pretty average lunch spot. This place is tucked away inside the Wells Fargo building, so it's taken me a couple years of working in this complex to find it. But the lunch special is not a bad deal - for about $7 you can get a half sandwich (build-your-own; points for customizing!) and cup of soup, which is plenty of food for a meal (adding a drink would make it a GREAT deal). The tomato basil soup is thick and delicious. The service was friendly and the wait was very good, although I came substantially after the lunch rush. I went again when I had a little time for a bite in the morning, and totally agree that the breakfast is the better deal here. For under $4.00 you can get a croissant/bagel/burrito concoction and delay those lunchtime hunger pangs into 1:00. read more

I placed an online order here for delivery since I work in the same complex as their location. I requested a certain type of bread (Sub Roll, which i have always done when i ordered from them and never had an issue previously) and when I received and opened my order, I realized they had not honored my request. I understand that mistakes happen (although i put the request twice in my online order). Instead of taking another 20-30 minutes out of my work day, I simply contacted them through the form on their website to explain the issue and request either a refund or a credit for my next order. I did not even receive a reply from them at all. They simply ignored my email and my issue and chose not to make any attempt to resolve it. For this reason, I do not recommend this company. Hopefully they learn to actually respond to customers about service issues in the future, but as far as i'm concerned, they showed their true colors. I have to say I am kinda disappointed by these guys. The food is good, the staff/owner are terrible! I order the same thing every time they deliver. They don't post the hours in which they serve certain foods, aka breakfast is served till 10:30, if you order won't go out until after 10:30, then you don't get it so forget about ordering at 10:30 cause you won't get it. The reason I got today was, we throw everything out at 10:30, yet somehow my order was in at 10:29, how does that happen? Needless to say, I won't return. Between noon and 1:30pm, there is always a long line. After I order, I usually need to wait a lot more for my order to get ready. Sometimes, I had to wait for 30 minutes in total to receive my order! I wanted to try ordering online today. Their website is terrible. It is like a kid built it for them for free. Anyway, I ordered online and went there 15 minutes later. My order is still not there to pick up. I asked their cashier and she couldn't find my order even though I received an order confirmation email. How can you really lose an online order??? This is a business district with full of professional people working at financial companies, real estate, tech, etc. The only non-professional company(!) as far as I know is MJ's Cafe. The food is average though if they don't lose your order and if it is Ok for you to waste half of your lunch time standing there. read more

I find it funny that half of the photos posted to this business is to the wrong MJ's Cafe. This MJ's cafe is a little sandwich shop located on the 1st floor of a big Irvine Business Building. Unfortunately there is no boba here; and no Taiwanese food. :( Instead they have lots of soups, salads, sandwiches (the usual deli fare). I've also heard from my co-workers that the breakfast sandwiches here are yummy! If you get a sandwich or wrap here it comes with a tiny side of pasta salad. They need to spruce up the pasta salad as it's very bland and dry. i usually just tell them not to give it to me since i hate wasting food. :( The price is a little expensive for what you get, but I get that I'm paying for the convenience of it being in my business complex and of course we are in Irvine. The staff is very rude. Food is just barely ok, the only thing they had going for them was they would deliver to your office (within the 5 building vicinity, all walking distance). now they charge minimum fee + delivery fee thats more than most of their meals! Breakfast: Bagelwich sandwhich with jalapeno bagel. Ham and swiss cheese! Then I douse it with lots of tabasco and bring a bunch of ketchup with me. I usually don't like eggs, so I have lots of ketchup and tabasco to cover up the egg. Lunch: Panini sandwich. I switch it up alot. I love the pastrami the most! Always on sourdough! I order via online and I go pick up. I work on the next building. Usually they are done by the time I head over. In occassion when they are super busy, they'll forget to make my breakfast until I come there. Or if you walk in, you'll wait like 20 minutes for your food. They need to work out a better system. Otherwise their food is great! I like the salad too except it's like $7 for a large. A buck less for a small (and trust me, regardless how good it is...it's not worth it. Great food! Order online for a quick pick up. It can get busy. Also make sure to park in 2hr parking if you aren't working in a nearby building. Very helpful. I've gotten two sandwiches, both are sublime. The Tuscan Chicken panini was scrumptious. Don't think I took a breathe. And the Natural sandwich was pretty filling and fresh. I basically eat here everyday. The breakfast menu is the really gem here. The breakfast burrito, breakfast panini, breakfast bagel and breakfast croissants are all great, for around $4 each....a bargain. Lunch isn't as bargainy, but still good. If you work in the area you can save time by ordering online and they will have it ready to skip the wait. Very nice option. Sandwiches are good. Nice variety. Southwestern Chicken is my favorite but many are good. Additionally they usually have a daily special, to help dull the monotany of daily sandwiches, which are often very good. Chicken Picatta, Enchiladas and the carnitas burrito come to mind but there are many more. The staff is cool, friendly and quick. read more

Ive had both the oatmeal and chocolate chip and they are equally good and really big! other items that i got here so far: philly cheesesteak - dont expect phillys best cheesesteak, it does the job comfort combo - panini sourdough grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. extremely cheesy, extremely crispy, extremely delicious. this is stick to your ribs greatness. the tomato soup pairs very well with this combo bacon- got a side of bacon, they are healthy sizes of bacon strips. panini sandwich(bacon) - another super cheesy crispy deliciousness. panini sandwich(sausage) - the breakfast sausage disbursement in the sandwich is lacking. i had mostly egg and cheese. its a good sandwich, but it could be better eith a sausage patty tuna melt - this is a great lunch time item here. i enjoy it very much. again, same great crispyness. the tuna isnt dry nor is in swimming in mayo green juice - (i forget the name), i get it with pineapple. this is my goto when i dont want a heavy breakfast. i like the mix they use this juice. i usually swish the cup with water at the end to grab any left overs in the cup. read more

I've been a customer of MJ's Cafe (Irvine) since 2002 and simply can't say enough great things about their stellar service, delicious food and fair prices. I work in the adjacent building in which we have our own cafe in the lobby and still choose to walk over to MJ's. The funny thing is, I see numerous people doing the same. That, in and of itself speaks volumes about MJ's reputation. MJ's for me is what Central Perk is to the crew of "Friends". I know just about all of the staff and I've never seen such a dynamic group of people work together as they do. I've been twice and got a sandwich once and then a panini. Overall, their food lacks flavor and isn't especially inexpensive. It may be healthier due to the lack of oil, mayo, sauce...in general any fat, but I'd rather you make it tasty and I have the option of asking for less mayo to make it more healthy for me. Also their bread (as a result) is dry. Even their bacon was bland on the panini. How to make bland bacon? I've heard that their soups and baked potato are good, so I may come back to try something other than a sandwich. read more

I had the following items from past lunches: Salami Panni: tastes good, cut thick like Honeybaked ham. Maybe that was really ham? lol Chicken Pesto Panini: chuck of chicken, really chicken I hope! Walked in to MJ'S after 9:30 on a Friday for breakfast. The menu: Lots of choices. Full of salads, Panini's, smoothies, Sandwiches and more. There's something here for everyone. The Service: The Greeter was friendly, patient as I decided and asked the right questions. The attitudes behind the counter seemed great and they were working as a team. The Price: Very good. No individual item on the menu was priced over $8.00 which kicks the teeth out of this cafe's local competition. The Food: I ordered the Newport Panini and Grand Slam Smoothie. My smoothie was huge. The taste of the Smoothie and the Panini were great. I was very happy with my visit here. read more

Noise level is typical and nothing out of the ordinary. Just a classic cafe look and vibe. I got the South of the Border Turkey Panini for $6.95. The menu however says $6.45. I just assume they raised everything by 50 cents (to account for inflation etc.) but didn't update the menu. Taken from the menu, the sandwich contains turkey, tomato, sliced red onion, pepper jack cheese, avocado & chipotle on foccacia bread. Has a nice little spice kick to it, but I can't handle spice that well so if you're a spice lover you might not even taste it. Also, the flavors overwhelm the avocado so I couldn't really tell it was there but it definitely is. Overall, a pretty good sandwich. It comes with the sandwich, a pickle and a small cup of fruit. Food is pretty good and fills me up, especially for lunch hour food. I definitely feel like I get my money's worth here. I work in the area so I'll be back for sure. read more

This place always greets me with a smile. Carl and Eldi are just welcoming people. I visit this place for breakfast like 3x week. I also order our company lunches and my clients always are impressed with our spread. Erica who cooks my food always says " HI Kristi" .. its just warm feeling. NOTICE: This location has jacked up its prices to unreasonable levels! Don't get screwed with a 10-11 dollar bill like I did! A half sandwich and soup is outrageous at that price!!! New remodel = Ludicrous prices. Full review down below... I don't normally write reviews, but I thought it was quite important to write one this time! Last week MJ's was closed for a "remodel", which I would welcome, but upon visiting them on their first day open I was highly disappointed. Firstly, they decided to raise the prices by about 50% which means a decent lunch that you could get for 6-7 dollars now costs 10-11! Which in my eyes is just flat out ridiculous. I used to love going here for a decent lunch that wouldn't break the bank, but at the new cost it's not even worth it! Secondly, their new layout is just confusing. They ditched the tables and seats for a more open area, but it just made the area worst. Thirdly, they updated the menus to TVs (which I wouldn't mind), but the new menus were small and very difficult to read even for someone with 20/20 vision such as myself. Lastly, after all this they forgot my order and when they finally made it they did it all wrong. They also over charged one of my co-workers for a sandwich she didn't even purchase and ultimately never received! My suggestion is to avoid the new MJs! I will be boycotting this location and taking my business elsewhere. Which is a damn shame, seeing as I have been a weekly customer of this location for 5 years! I can't justify paying such an absorbent amount for once reasonably priced items.
