The environment is clean, inviting with lots of space. There is a ramen and sushi menu however, sushi is not served on Monday's. Sadly, I dined here on a Monday so my review is only accounting for ramen and some appetizers. The food did the job but nothing wowed me. I honestly think the presentation was better than taste. I was disappointed with the takoyaki. The octopus pieces were very small and the batter tastes bland despite all the abundant toppings. I'd definitely try here again for the sushi, but wouldn't come back for ramen. read more

Coming from Hapuna Beach and was craving pho soup but all the Vietnamese spots closed early (8 pm) this spot closes at 9 pm so this was the next best bet to curb my soup craving and I was worried the ramen wouldn't be good since I'm used to loving tonkotsu pork broth but the Yuzu Shio Ramen felt light (no greasy heavy after feeling) and tasted really good! If you're a yuzu lover it's a must get, you really taste the yuzu and they add some lemon zest in it. The texture of the noodles were amazing too. However the "chicken chashu" and soft boiled egg kinda tasted a little off but still good protein haha. Pan Gried Gyoza were great! Super Crispy and pork filling was a treat. We went to the MOA Kitchen last night, and it was warm and full of great food smells when we opened the door. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but unfortunately, the sushi chef was in Japan, so there was no sushi to be had. I had the chicken katsu, which was good, along with a salad with what tasted like sesame dressing, a standard-tasting miso soup, and rice. My wife had the ramen and liked it. I had the spicy miso ramen. Very flavorful broth with excellent tasting ramen noodles. I also had the 3 peices yakitori chicken set of breast, thighs, and meatball. Moist and cooked well. We just ate here yesterday and it was beyond Yummy! I got the Ramen shoyu chicken, meat medley yakatori and sake. The broth for the ramen was beyond delicious. The ramen was perfectly cooked and I wanted to order seconds but I knew it would be too much food. The yakatori had lamb, chicken, and pork fat. So very delicious. I'm sorry but I don't remember the actual names for what we ordered so it's more of a description than the name. We also ordered the vegetable medley yakatori, which was egg plant, squash, and mushrooms. These were very tasty as well. The service was fantastic. The ambiance was awesome. We showed up without reservations but were seated quickly. They have an open kitchen so we could see a bit of the activity in the kitchen from our seats. Misoyaki butterfish - this entire plate was perfection. The fish was just melt in your mouth buttery and soft. Delicious with the lemon squeezed over it. The portion was very generous, with two medium sized cuts of fish. Some bones but they're large and easy to pick out. Even the side salad was delicious, and the edamame was perfectly salted. Spicy miso ramen - t really enjoyed this with all the meats added in. He did say the butterfish was his favorite though. I tried a sip and was shocked at how spicy it was!!! He claimed he didn't add that much chili oil but who knows. Haha. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The prices were very reasonable as well. My family and I arrived without a reservation about 7/8pm a few weeks back. I'm so thankful they were able to seat us. We sat at the bar side, which is totally fine by me. Got some fries and edamame (sorry no pics) but was delicious. I have photos of the two dishes myself and my bf ate. And the mochi ice cream desserts. Overall a nice experience. The food here is excellent. I would give it 4.5 stars all day long. The reason I give it 3 star is because the "no aloha" service here is about 1 star. No one smiles or interacts with customers. I wasn't offered another beer or another sake. We had to get our own napkins and utensils. Reminded me of public school cafeteria. Wow, so many dishes to review since we ordered a lot. First of all, I would like to say that the portions are small. I think it will do you well if you ordered more than 1 entree per person. Sashimi Dinner - 7/10 I thought it was decent. Everything was very light and flavorful. I was able to taste the freshness without second thought which I appreciated. I think it was just not as diverse as I wanted it to be as there are 3 pcs of each sashimi in it. Yakitori Gourmet - 5/10 It's about average. Nothing too special about it, but I wouldn't order it again Butterfish - 8/10 would definitely order this one again, but maybe I'm bias towards fattier fish. I just think the $value is not too worth it as they only give you 2 pcs. Nigiri 10 pcs - 8/10 excellent variety of food as well as the quality being quote good as well. Nice. The other dishes, were also average. This place deserves a 4 star rating because of its decent quality food, small portion sizes (although this could be my own detriment as I'm a fat American D: ), and the service being excellent. read more

My "medium" spiced miso ramen was deliciously satisfying with a very thick and creamy chicken broth.. almost gravy-like in its consistency. The Hokai sashimi chirashi had 8 small to medium sized pieces set in a bamboo basket and not on top a bed of white sushi and not brown rice-- definitely not worth the $38. The sukiyaki had a lot of fat and overcooked as evidenced by dark brown color. Rice had a chunk of hard rice. Atmosphere is nice. For better Japanese cuisine go to Sakura in Kailua. read more
