Mixed feelings about leaving a review, but honestly I rely on yelp a lot to find spots to try. This place is NOT for kids and too expensive for the service. I always pass by this shop because I'm local and go to the grocery store a lot when I charge my Tesla. One day I was charging and decided to ask how much a boys haircut is. They let me know it was $15 which is unheard of so it convinced me to come today. There must have been a misunderstanding with the language barrier because the price is a lot more. $35 for kids 10 and under $45 for men (11 and older). They do wash their hair before the cut and use scissors a lot. So i did like that part and the fact that my boys got to try something new. The two men who cut my boys hair did try to do the cut i showed them, but for the price i paid i feel like it could have been a LOT better. the blending wasnt clean and the shape didn't look the same. Their effort is the only reason I feel slightly bad posting this, but the vibe from the owner, or other employee that arrived was weird and parents need to be careful. The reason I will not return is because another man arrived, idk if he works there or owns the shop. He spoke a little better english and when my older son sat next to me the man started to ask my son questions. At first it was normal, asked if he liked his haircut. Then came the questions that i did not like. After he stared my son down from head to toe in a really odd way. Us mothers know when things are off. Mind you my other son was almost done with his cut so my older boy and I were waiting. After i noticed this man looking at my son weirdly he went on to compliment him twice telling him he's a very handsome boy. My son ignored him and so did I. Then he asked my son if he had a girlfriend, this is where I took control of the conversation and let this man know that my son is only 12 and he is a young boy. Luckily my other son finished and we paid and left. I cant describe the energy this guy gave, but as a mom I know it was inappropriate. He stood behind the register and thats how I know he works there or owns it. Got a hair cut recently, def overpriced. I have short hair to start with and the stylist charged me a fee for long hair. The cut was decent. However, when it was time to pay, he asked how much tip I'd give him. I told him that I'd give him 18% and he confirmed it, but then after he printed the receipt, he then jokingly said oh oops i put in 20% instead of 18% tip. :/ Will NOt recommend and will never return. read more

I visited Mobe and had a good men cut with one of the stylist. But I simply don not understand the cost structure of the store and how they are able to get away with charging $40 for a men's haircut. Just to let you know women haircut starts at $50. I have lived all across the US (Chicago, NYC, SF, Miami) and I can tell you the cuts are good but not $40. Late review but better late than never! I called before walking in and Raymond squeezed a last minute spot for me for a cut + color. He understood my concerns about choosing a hair color that will brighten up my skin tone as well as my layering problem. I have a LOT of hair and other hair stylists would usually thin out my hair by adding lots of layers which I do not like. Raymond fixed that problem for me by thinning out my hair but somehow not creating too much layers (don't know how he did it, but yay!) Overall, very good cut+ color. I would say definitely worth it (it is a bit pricey though, I think I paid $230?). The lady in the back giving hair washes could be a lot more gentle with my hair/scalp though (ouch....). read more

I always have my hair cut and colored at a Japanese salon. After referring by a friend and having an idea of the cost of $300+, I decided to give it a try. (My friend's hair is about 5 inches longer than mine) I had my hair colored balayage with stylist May. She bleached the lower part of my hair and later on said it would need a second bleach. When checking out, she pulled out a calculator and pressed and cleared some numbers over and over again, finally she showed me a number of 480! I was stunned, it was way too much than I had expected. I only have $350 cash in my pocket, so I paid her with my credit card. I went home and did some research for the cost of balayage. The average price is $170-$250. I went to the Japanese hair salon I used to go. I had my hair colored back to darker tone, because it turned yellowish 2 days later. My Japanese stylist told me they charge one bleach for $80 extra one is $50. The balayage I had with Mobe would be around $250 if I had done with them. May had never showed me any hair shade chart and communicated with me even though I asked to get a darker shade at beginning. I gave one star because she gave me a bottle of orange juice and she's overall friendly. I also tipped her generously because of that. After reading the reviews, I knew I was not the only one felt misled and fooled. They charge 2 or 3 times more than average charge. I will never go back even the stylist offered me a free hair coloring after I talked with her my issues. I paid you to give me an easily maintained haircut and then you give me a haircut that only looks good if styled one way, which is not practical at all. I especially emphasized simple as I work and don't have time to maintain it. This morning I woke up and realized this is one of the biggest haircut failures in my life. First of all they said to cut my hair to the collar bone but now the end of my hair hardly touch the shoulder. Second, I have some natural curls and I don't know what they did to my hair this morning, but there not natural curls anymore, they are just spiked up. This won't happen if they didn't cut my hair too short. Third, they persuaded me into dying my hair without letting me know the price. Again, they cut my hair really short but at the end they insisted charge it by "mid-long" hair, which is 130 dollars. Ultimately it's the final product that determines the rating. If the hair was what I requested from them and looked nice, I would not have minded the overprice to quality ratio. So the two stars all go to the service (they were pretty nice), none to the haircut itself. Advice: make sure what hair style you want before cutting, think three times to let them decide that for you. Also ask about the price beforehand. read more
