Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken with Spring Salad and Garlic Noodles (+$1)
    Mike L.

Now that the new/novel feeling of food trucks has come and gone, it's not hard for me to see why some of my friends have lost their enthusiasm for them. The food can be gimmicky, the lines can get long, some are way overhyped, they can be pricey...totally get it. However, while I certainly don't disagree, I have to say - I'm still a fan! Whenever I see one I've yet to try, I'm (almost) always down to check them out. Not to mention the fact that the sheer number of them spread around the Financial District and SoMa always makes it easy to find something new to Yelp about...ha! Before stumbling across MoBowl, I actually knew nothing about these guys. After looking them up on Yelp and scrolling through their photos, though, it didn't take me long to get genuinely excited about trying them out. The menu seems simple, but they've got plenty of options - first choose one (or two) of the eight proteins they have to offer, then two of their five sides. All told, there are numerous creations you can make, suiting whatever your taste buds are craving for. -- SWEET & SPICY FRIED CHICKEN (Breaded Boneless, Skinless Chicken, Sweet & Spicy Glaze, Sesame Seeds, Scallions) with SPRING SALAD (with a Sesame Sambal Vinaigrette) and GARLIC NOODLES (+$1)...$12 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mobowl-mountain-view?select=iDoBSsWSo2JzkwQmyDVOCQ) Pretty damn tasty! The chicken was juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside (even despite being only lightly battered), and not overly dressed with the glaze (which was pretty flavorful). As for the sides, the salad was more or less fine, but I liked how garlicky the noodles were. -- FIVE SPICED PULLED PORK (Braised Pork, Five Spice Mix, Sriracha Aioli, Scallions) with BROWN RICE and GARLIC NOODLES (+$1)...$11 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mobowl-mountain-view?select=YxzHimkmZvySY_8GYU4X5Q) Not bad, though the fried chicken was better. The pork was flavorful and complemented nicely by the aioli, but it was a little heavy on the five spice and a shade dry. It didn't help that the noodles fell a little flat this time around (some strands were kind of tough). Beyond the food, I also liked how MoBowl's price sare actually pretty reasonable, particularly by food truck standards. While they're probably slightly higher than what you can find at brick & mortar restaurants, $11-$12 for a garlic noodle "bowl" isn't too shabby at all. Add in the more unique protein offerings and it's a pretty solid value for the Financial District and SoMa! All in all, despite feeling more impressed with them the first time around, I was still more than satisfied by both of my orders here. At the very least, they definitely provide a nice reprieve from the daily routine of salads, soups, and sandwiches! THREE AND A HALF STARS ROUNDED UP.

5 spice pulled pork with white rice and garlic noodles

Brisbane food truck finder no longer works so we have to walk or drive by and see what brisbane now offers in regards to food trucks, today mobowl was offered never tried it so figured take a look at the menu and give em a shot. First option listed on to was a vegetarian option... pass, hahaha next was five spice pulled pork, beef option and a fried chicken option. Sadly the fried chicken was sold out so I stuck with the five spice pulled pork, paired with white rice and garlic noodles all together plate cost $12, decent portioned food Here are the likes and dislikes of the plate, portion was good for what your paying it decent amount of food. The dislike would be with the 5 spice pulled pork, seasoning wise it was decent nothing over powering each other especially with the white rice and the garlic noodle, sadly the meat was slightly dense and dry, maybe it is because I ordered later in the day around 1pm but hey dense is clear indication that the meat has been sitting out for awhile. If I do venture back to this truck I would like to sample the fried chicken option, usually that is made to order I was told, but everything else was good, white rice portion was good, it was sticky, the garlic noodles were interesting, some of the noodles were undercooked, but most of it was nicely done, semi hard noodles with garlic flavoring drizzled on for these guys, I would come back and try other plates, primarily the fried chicken, again food was good, I may have to come earlier if I want fresher 5 spice pulled pork food *** price $$ service *****

5 spice pulled pork with seasoned fries and salad-- dank. ( this was a salty combo ,should have gotten rice)
    Lydia Z.

Very reminiscent of the asian ghetto food in Berkeley. Dank, cheap, and fast. If you like heavily seasoned food, this place isn't bad, but the prices seem high for the type of food they serve (panda express/star wok/americanized asian food). I read that they were known for their 5-spice pulled pork so that's what I got. You are supposed to choose 2 sides with the meal so I chose salad and fries. Ended up paying $11 but I don't think the meal is worth any more than $7. First off, their house sauce has a watery base (probably soy sauce) which floods the bottom of the box and it's rather salty and overwhelming with the salad. The fries are your regular frozen bulk fries-some of which were not fully cooked and cold on the inside and they soak up flavor from the salad sauce and the pork (bleh). The pulled pork was disappointing. I had expected some juicy and spice-infused pork but this pork was a bit dry, way too sweet, and the only juice came from the oil/sauce(unknown what kind of sauce it was). They might have had added ground up spices (anise, cinnamon, cloves, pepper) but with all the other seasoning they added (sugar for sure), I couldn't really understand what I was tasting other than heavily spiced pork. I don't really trust this food truck enough to come back and try other dishes. And as I'm writing this review, I'm getting thirstier and thirstier. Such a dehydrating meal with all that DANK.

    Kimberly H.

I'll update my review once I have the galbijjim. The fried chicken and biscuits were wonderful. The chicken meat was juicy but not greasy in the least and had little fat, mostly meat. If you're contemplating whether to try their new ordering option, based on my experience, I'd say DO IT. The food is great, the people really amazing and I definitely hope they are here when COVID is not.

Food was not the best but when your tipsy and starving it will do. If I had to have it again I would just order the fries and garlic noodles. Service was awsome but food was cold and bland.

Garlic noodles, 5 spice pulled pork, honey black pepper steak, fries, chicken bites, and white rice topped with sriracha
    Jay G.

To kick off a milestone at our company, we were fortunate enough to have MoBowl cater our company lunch. As much as I wanted to have a buffet of Mobowl, we were only limited to certain items. Some of the items aren't listed on their regular menu. So, the items I got for my bowl were: - 5 spice pulled pork - Chicken bites - Honey black pepper steak - Garlic noodles - French fries - White rice All the items were packed into a to go box and fitted perfectly. The meats were tender and flavorful. The garlic noodles were soft and had a light garlic taste. The fries were on the soggy side due to the pulled pork placed on top of them. And the white rice was cooked perfect. I kinda ruined my picture by placing sriracha on my food. Thank you MoBowl for the great food. Too bad I couldn't go for seconds, thirds, or fourths!

Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken w/ Garlic Noodles and Seasoned Fries
    Adam B.

This truck reminded me of Hiyaaa!!, so I was quite excited to try it. You pick from differently seasoned proteins served over your choice of carbs. My favorite item from Hiyaaa!! is the spicy fried chicken bites over fries, so I got the same thing here as a benchmark comparison. Sadly, it was very much "Meh. I've experienced better.", hence the 2 stars. Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken: The chicken was really dense and tough. The breading felt like a halfhearted battering you'd get from a mediocre fish & chips joint. The sweet & spicy sauce was nice, but was only sparsely drizzled on. Sadly, you can get better glazed fried chicken at Panda Express. Garlic Noodles: Not terribly garlicky. Some of the sweet & spicy sauce dripped on the noodles, masking any flavor they may have had by themselves. The texture was a nice al dente, but it just had no personality. Seasoned Fries: Not terribly seasoned. Kinda just run-of-the-mill fries like you might get a nondescript pub.

Five-Spice Pulled Pork (braised pork, 5 spice, honey, siracha aioli) - 3.5 stars (Off the Grid at 5th/Townsend, Friday lunch 2015-03-13)
    Ziyan C.

I tried MoBowl at Off the Grid at 5th and Townsend on a Friday. MoBowl by far had the longest line so I had to try it out. Their line still moved fast and our food came out within minutes. COST: $21 total for 2 bowls, a filling lunch for two. * Umami Tofu (Vegan. Organic tofu, shitakes & tomato compote w/ scallions & sesame seeds) - 3 stars pic, w/ salad side: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mobowl-mountain-view?select=ZITD7QDJFiM3J3FZUF9n1Q#oYwz8Z-5Vr7bPbIxXTThKA The sauce was too americanized, like a generic sweet & sour. The tofu was quite hard. I thought the asparagus was random and seemed out of place. My veg friend really liked this though. * Five-Spice Pulled Pork (braised pork, 5 spice, honey, siracha aioli) - 3.5 stars pic, w/ garlic noodle side: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mobowl-mountain-view?select=ZITD7QDJFiM3J3FZUF9n1Q#ZITD7QDJFiM3J3FZUF9n1Q Not very spicy, a bit dry, but still tasty, and much better than the Umami Tofu. The noodles were soft and garlic-y as promised; also quite oily (that pool of oil at the bottom of the container isn't super appetizing). Again, mentioned my customer experience in my SJ Eats review so this will be based purely on taste and it was great tasting indeed. I had my tofu bowl yesterday after a few days of it sitting in the fridge.. the steamed white rice, the tofu.. still soft and delicious although I did throw away the lettuce and cucumber slices; my fault since I knew I wasn't going to eat it right away. Though I ordered the cheesecake eggrolls, I did not have any.. my Mom took it and ate both in one sitting and said that it tasted very good- also after it being in the fridge for a few days.. I will enjoy my Hari Cari today and will update my review for that. Again, awesome service from this truck.

Bacon blue burger with serrano chiles
    Cindy M.

If food trucks offer eats this awesome I would gladly travel to the corners of each nearby town to partake in creations that make you happier with every bite. I just had a bacon blue burger that was all that and a bag of chips. So tender and juicy with grilled onions mixed greens, and thick, crispy bacon doused with a homemade blue cheese dressing on a toasted brioche bun. Being a spice addict, I asked for them to oblige with sliced serrano peppers. Hot hot hot! On to the star of the day. Pork belly tacos. Not only was I reminiscing on the smoky pork and fresh flavors of the pineapple salsa for days, but this could easily be a meal that I would request before I die. We were literally fighting over who got the last bite. It's always a day to celebrate when every morsel is worth savoring. Mmmm. Now I have to find out when/where this food truck will be.

5 spice pulled pork, garlic noodles and fries with aioli $11
    Benita M.

Wow long lines for this truck! Food is made somewhat quickly. 5 spice pulled pork garlic noodles and fries $11. Garlic noodles weren't special IMO. Just a hint of garlic taste. Fries topped with aioli sauce was delicious. The fries were already a little seasoned so even without the sauce, it is still good. Pulled pork was cooked nicely. Next time, I'd skip the noodles and get double the fries!

    Garlic noodles, fried chicken, salad
    Melanie P.

This food truck came to my work for our Food Truck Friday events we have every 3rd Friday. We got a choice of one entree and 2 sides. I chose the garlic noodles, the salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and sweet and spicy fried chicken. The noodles were delicious. Flavorful and garlicy. The meat was just ehh. Like most of it was good and crispy just the way I like, but a few were doused in too much sauce and not enough breading. The salad had dark leafy greens which were good, but there was barely any dressing - which I guess is better than too much dressing. Good but not great.
