I rather go to seaside though for a actual ham and cheese crossiant for the worth of the money. Bf teied thebgarlic and cheese and said it was garlicky but not cheesy (see picture of what he took a bit into). He did say it was pretty ok. The bearded papas weren't so bad and were pretty full of custards. I dissected the taiyaki on the fillings of each that I get though to help. Stumbled upon this cute shop while walking to Mitsuwa market. The Beard Papa's banner on the tent wall is what caught my attention. I haven't had BP for literally about 5 years ago when My hubby brought some home when i was pregnant w my youngest daughter. Now they offer so many flavors and different fillings! It's a Really cute dessert shop w so much variety of different dessert for everyone. From Gelato, gelato macarons, milk snow/ice, taiyaki, Dippin dots, mochi ice cream & a few more. Ck out the menu and see yourself! Mostly we came in for BP after dinner at Sup Noodles, which is a few doors down. You can't go wrong w beard papas. Located in the same plaza as Mitsuwa market. This plaza has so much yummy food eateries. Parking is a bit difficult sometimes since it's in a busy shopping center. Shop is pretty big w lots of seatings inside and 2 gazebo tents filled w outdoor table/chairs and umbrellas. What I got... ~Ube flavor w Ube Filling! Omg so scrumptious...you can definitely taste the Ube flavor on the shell of the puff eclair. The Ube filling was really good. So glad i went w the associate suggestion to get Ube Eclair. There was only one left n also get the Ube filling. Other Flavored filling is additional $ .10 more besides the vanilla. So worth it though. The Ube filling reminded me of a subtle lavender taste for some apparent reason. ~Green Tea w Vanilla flavor filling was great also. Very light and the green tea wasn't overpowering because I know some Green tea products can tend to be. Highly recommend these 2 flavors. Surprisingly these flavored eclairs/puffs weren't overly sweet at all especially the filling. Had the perfect hint of sweet & such a great combination. It had that puff and crisp texture. I would highly recommend it enjoying same day or within hours. With cream puffs especially being so huge and filled w so much cream. If left to enjoy the next day. I have a feeling. It'll be soggy. ~They sell Dippin Dots here. If purchased, Look to make sure bag isn't ripped on sided the bags. the Rainbow flavor, both of the bags we bought had a rip on them. Luckily associate was kind enough to give us a new one after we told him the rip on side of bag. Also this particular flavor too seem like it was melted, so the dippin dots were stuck together when pouring into the cup provided. ~Service was great and fast. With the mad rush hour of customers. We received our items in a timely manner. They sell cute Japanese Asian merchandise here. Lots of merchandise. Of course they put it near the wall where the line is. So for those bored and want to check out items while waiting in line. Super smart! I want to return and try the Creme brûlée Eclair. It was a bit hectic w 5 kids w us. Great place for dessert especially the great variety they offer, but too expensive. We bought two cream puffs for $8. Personally I think the matcha is better than the honey cream. Both of them are not too sweet. We also bought two small scoops of gelato afterwards. White chocolate strawberry flavor and expresso flavor. Good taste but pretty expensive, $2.25 each. read more

Cute little dessert place with tea's and coffee! They also sell anime stuff and their own tea brand in here. This is also part home to a Beard Papa's which is pretty cool. I ordered the White Peach And Pomegranate tea. 3 TaiYaki's Nutella, Custard and Red Bean. The tea was pretty good and not so sweet. The TaiYaki's were delicious but they down side is I wish they really cut it up like the shape of the fish instead of leaving it square shaped looking. Not a place I'd go back to for drinks. Came here at 7:30pm on a Monday night and as a huge Nutella fan, I was excited to try their Nutella shake. But it was "not available at the moment". Bummer. But I received no explanation as of why this wasn't available. Just a "not available right now". Okay ... So my girlfriend settled for a matcha latte. I personally don't like matcha drinks as the matcha taste is usually too strong for me (yes I'm weird). She complained she couldn't taste the matcha so I tried it and it tasted like straight up milk. I, myself, couldn't taste the matcha flavor at all. Judging by the color of the drink, you can make up your own judgement... We ended up tossing the drink with 2/3 left. I don't really see a reason to come back here for drinks, after all there are about 5 million boba/coffee places in Irvine. This place has so many desserts to choose from, I was so indecisive as to which ones to get! They offer ice cream mochi, ice cream macarons, gelato, shaved ice, taiyaki, and more. They even have Beard Papa Cream Puffs! I decided to get the matcha shaved ice, red bean croissant taiyaki, and the matcha coconut cream and yuzu citrus mochi ice cream. My favorite was the mochi ice cream because the texture of the mochi was so soft and delicate. I liked the yuzu citrus the most because i enjoyed the citrus flavor. The taiyaki was crispy but the red bean flavor tasted a little weird to me. The shaved ice was also just okay to me because the snow was really powdery and there were grains of sugar in the ice which gave a weird texture. They shortened the name of their store to just Mochi but I'm guessing it was originally Mochilato since they served Mochi and gelato. This place is pretty good in terms of its variety but I'd probably stick to their specialty in mochi. I'd love to come back to try their gelato! read more

I found the interior to be hella cute, clean, and friendly. The cashier was very patient and customers are usually eating indoors -- many seats! This is a fun place to meet up for a sweet treat. I've been here for quite some time when they only had the beard papa and coffee and a couple mochi options. It's been really wonderful to experience new products as this shop has grown over the years. my experience has been at the customer. Service is not exactly friendly but is very polite and efficient. We really like the mochi on their coffee bar is pretty awesome. We recently have been into the milk snow, strawberry seems to be our favorite so far. The mango when we recently tried was really soggy. They have lots of neat trinkets on sale so if you have kids, definitely put on their blinders before you go in. I know it doesn't sound like much to complain about, but there some be some size listings on their menus as well as what is NOT available that day. It's a bit more effort than they want to put in, apparently, and that's why my rating is so low. First, our cashier didn't seem to know what was going on or was too busy to fully mind what was going on? Second, there was no sizing mention on the boards, so the shock of our shaved ice milk was a surprise. Not to mention, there were very little to no non-milk items what was inconvenient since both my friend and I can't drink milk and were aiming for the non-milk items... that they didn't have and we didn't find out until we reached the register. But when I came here last night with my husband, and we ordered our usual shaved ice, we saw a woman (who I can only assume to be a new manager) yelling at her employee. I am not 100% sure if he made a mistake of some sort, but there has to be a better way to deal with issues than to scream at your workers in front of customers. First time trying this place on Friday and I can say in confidence I will not be back here.. it's overpriced and while it's nice and cute and spacious inside, the amount of dessert you get doesn't justify the price point. $6 for an ube lava cake that was so tiny it looked like a dallop of purple cake inside a small to go container. The mango milk snow was just okay. I mean - $16 for a small order - and the sweet mango cream/milk didn't even get to the bottom of the tiny bowl. The service I have to say is just okay too. The soft serve came out in a few minutes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I opted in for the red bean filling, expecting it to be sweet like azuki beans. But instead they were much more bitter, the soft serve's sweetness saved it though. The soft serve swirl of green tea and vanilla was creamy and delicious to my tasting. Went here a couple weeks ago to get the green tea shaved ice and a beard papa cream puff thing. Both of them were pretty good. I think it was a bit pricy but not terrible. I think I would have preferred the snow over the ice, but the green tea shaved ice wasn't bad either. I haven't been able to find another place that serves croissant taiyaki like they do - they add a touch of sugar to the top of the croissant, which adds a crispy, subtle-sweet that tastes AMAZING with the savory fillings (try the ham n' cheese!). Beard Papa's cream puffs never disappoint, either, and I typically grab a box whenever I'm going to visit family. Now, ambiance. I sometimes come here for a comfy place to work on my graphic design projects, typically in the afternoon on weekdays. Recently, however, I made the mistake of coming on a Friday night with friends. Although we found a table pretty quick, the cafe was full of families with screaming children -- not crying, just screaming for fun while the adults ignored them, yelling at each other to carry on their conversation over the noise. Now, I'm not some crotchety hermit - I enjoy a lively venue! But I had to fully roar at my friends to be heard. And it wasn't just a single family causing the ruckus, but four separate groups. Mochi's staff obviously can't control who dines there, but I wanted to throw this warning out there. Are you the type of person who would like to enjoy a pastry in relative peace? Perhaps they should rename to "Mishmosh" to have a more thorough name. Mochi is a dessert shop tucked in a little corner next to Daiso's Irvine location. I was walking through the latter when I spotted the former on Yelp, and I felt that I could handle some dessert despite being between hefty meals. I managed to locate the shop after walking around the projecting corner of Daiso. Cream puffs (from Beard Papa's, possibly a different business contained in the same space), sweet and savory taiyaki variants, Dippin Dots, and teas were on the menu, but I didn't try any of those. However, I did grab one of the ice cream-filled mochis ($2), which was labeled as Yuzu but ended up being Yuzu Coconut. The mochi exterior was soft but chewy. I did get both flavors strongly, but I would have strongly preferred just having the Yuzu and not having to deal with misbranding. As for the flavors, they have a lot of variety, but I'm not sure that the quality is any better than what you'll find in a supermarket freezer aisle. I also couldn't resist trying some of the gelato selections, and I got a couple of flavors. Well, I would've grabbed more, but their only size option is two scoops for $4.95, whether it's a cup or cone. I picked out a cone of passion fruit sorbet and espresso gelato. The passion fruit tasted just like a sweetened version of the actual fruit, but the espresso (which I only chose due to mom's desire) had more of that not-quite-coffee candy flavor and wasn't very creamy in texture. When I asked, an employee stated that the gelato was by for them by somebody else, but she didn't state who was responsible.
