The calamari and tiramisu are also fantastic!! The service is always great - our servers are consistently friendly and helpful. The place is super cute and homey and can accommodate both big and small parties. It's a good thing that Sal's is 20 minutes from us, or else we would probably be here at least 3 times a week, something that would do considerable damage to both of our waistlines.

It's like they take an old slice, throw new toppings on it, and call it good. They didn't used to do this. They used to add cheese, heat it properly, and the slices were actually good. Unfortunately, the last four or five times I've ordered a slice, it's been disappointing every time. Literally the last two slices I've gotten I took one bite, and just threw it in the trash!

I had to ask three separate times for refills, and the third time I actually had to get up and find our server at the bar, where she was sitting, still discussing the schedule. When the pizza finally arrived, it was delicious. But basic things like Parmesan and pepper weren't offered. I had to flag someone down to ask. And even though we'd just received our food, the lights on the patio were turned off while we were eating, and we were brought a box very quickly, which felt like a not-so-subtle hint to leave. Overall, the food was good, but the customer service and atmosphere really took away from what should have been a nice birthday dinner for my daughter. Very disappointing experience.

Let's start with the wife, which truly speaks to the five stars because she frankly doesn't love Italian food. She eats it when I beg. And she loved it. She actually proactively mentioned she wanted to go back. That's like 7 stars right there it's so abnormal. I agree with her. The chicken parm was fantastic. Amazing. To top it off, our server was great and when I mentioned we were new to the area and it was our first trip she was so nice telling us the history of the original and the other stores, and the manager later stopped by to continue that conversation as the server told her we were new. I mentioned that I live closer to the Scottsdale store, and she said it's the same food and I'll like it just as much. I'll have a hard time deciding which shop to return to - it might be worth the drive to the original just for the ambiance, but I'll give the other a try soon because it was just that good! 5 stars. We were drawn to try the whipped ricotta appetizer and glad we did...it was unlike any appetizer I've had before...basically a smooth and sweet spread for the bread that accompanied it. We each ordered a pasta dish for our main meal...I got a spicy sausage pasta and my wife ordered the Tortellini alla Panna. The pasta was perfect sized for dinner and I was able to get a few bites of the tortellini from my wife. Both dishes were excellent. I spied a few dishes from around the restaurant and everything looked good. The to-go section was bustling with activity the entire time and the place was full except a few seats at the bar. A few things to note for those who may be curious: 1) There's no interior seating...it's built as a pickup and delivery store front. There are a few all-weather tables outside on the sidewalk but there's no shade so most of the year these do not get used. 2) Always look up pizza deals online and order a special. Most of the time you'll get your pizza or bread around 50% off full price. 3) The pizza does come in 3-4 different crust thicknesses and you can also get light/med/heavy pizza sauce. There's more customization options as well...you just need to ask. 4) The pizza can be greasy. It matters the crust and toppings, but you'll have a little grease stain on the bottom of your pizza box when you're done. Overall this is a good place for a quick pizza. The bread is average and sometimes will be under toasted or over toasted. They have the standard add-on toppings, and also have a hot sauce bar with different brands and Scoville levels of sauce. For drink selections, they have a large Coke Freestyle machine, but they more often than not have some or all the flavorings out of stock. What's the point of this machine if there's no vanilla peach Coke? They brew their own unsweet and sweet tea as well.
