This place is located conveniently inside the Tempe Marketplace close to Charming Charlie's. This was supposed to be a quick bite to eat but it turned into an experience. At 8 bucks, unlimited toppings the sky is the limit with options. I decided to try one of the specialties in which I did the Mad Dog with half white sauce, half marinara sauce with extra garlic all over before the rest of the toppings went on. I even added red peppers for the personalization effect. Once it came out I added Sriracha and ranch and went to town. I must've been hungry from all the shopping cause I finished the entire pie! The crust was thin was held all the toppings well and had an amazing crunch. I paired the pizza with red wine in the can. Yall it was very good wine and I did get a buzz off of it! If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been a customer for years and today I ordered 3 pizzas and one of them was completely wrong. I called and got placed on hold for forever and then asked to call a different number. When I finally talked to someone they said they could only give me $3 back for the mistake because it was just a topping error.... Keep in mind that I live 45 minutes away and could not go back and the person who's pizza was messed up couldn't eat it. Clearly there is a lack of care for customer service. I was treated so rudely and when I got off the phone they called back to say they wouldn't issue a refund unless I emailed their support email. It's clear they don't train their employees in basic manners. Im not sure what has happened these last couple months but this location has gone downhill. It appears they are cycling through employees fast and cannot stay organized. The trash and drink areas are a mess, toppings are constantly "missing" and dirty on the line. I've waited awhile to update my review with hopes it got better, but it sadly hasn't. Also, the employees more recently haven't been asking if you want additional sauces at the end, they just close it up and call your name. I always have to ask them, then they take back the pizza and add whatever sauces I asked. read more

There's so many variations of "make your own pizza" chains now, but MOD Pizza is hands down my favorite. Greatly priced and LOTS of variety to choose from makes MOD Pizza stand out for me. I also love their garlic strips and they are less then $3! They also provide you 4 different types of dipping sauces and don't charge you for extra. Some places are stingy on sauces. They also have great seasonal lemonades that are refreshing. My personal preference for how I build my pizza is: -White Sauce -Mozzarella -Sausage, Chicken and Bacon -BBQ Drizzle after Might be bland for some people, but I love meat and BBQ. read more

By far my favorite Personalized pizza place! Okay I may be biased because MOD started in my hometown of Seattle but still it's the best! The service is so nice and friendly and treat you like a friend. They are quick and efficient! I love that MOD allows you to add unlimited toppings for one standard price! While we were out birthday shopping we stopped here for lunch. We actually orders o li e at 1:14 & did not receive our last pizza until 1:55. That was a long 20 minutes no straws, most of the fountains sodas were out, the place was a mad house. I felt sorry for the staff because they would doing the best they could to get things done. This was good, I secretly didn't want it to be good though. I often have a resistance to restaurant chains, but Mod Pizza is good and healthy apparently. I ordered their "Dillon James," which is basically a Margherita Pizza. However once I saw they had Pesto. I thought I can have a fancy cheese pizza anywhere. So I decided, I must seize this pesto pizza moment. Sadly enough pesto pizza is becoming an endangered entree. So I played with the Dillion James recipe by subbing and adding with a caption cloud above my noggin of me wearing a lab coat, safety goggles and holding beakers looking smart and such. The red sauce..gone, in is the pesto and tagging along was his friend ricotta. Washed it all down my gullet with a pompous craft draft San Tan Devils Ale and it just couldn't stop there. I also had a pretentious can of San Pellegrino Blood Orange bubbly agua. This pizza deserved the beverage theatrics. I'm like this most of the time dining out....okay all the time, Happy now!! Ok tonight was really the last straw here. I've been to this location many times because I live in the area and it can be hit or miss. Tonight though after a long travel day we decided to split a mod size pizza and mega sized salad. The pizza lacked toppings and half the crust was black it was so burnt. Then the salad... absolutely gross. Pulled out a ton of soggy brown pieces of lettuce and multiple pieces of stem that should have been cut off and thrown away. The mega size is supposed to be huge (especially at $18) and it literally filled up half the container. Not to mention they sent one little half filled ramekin of dressing when they should have sent at least two or three. Then as for ingredients it was missing spinach, pepperoni, artichokes, and spicy peppers. Both were pretty much inedible. Neither ever should have been sent out. Very disappointed. read more

One was supposed to be without pork due to an allergy,and came with pork. If you ask any of my friends, MOD is my go to pizza place. And it's a justified decision too! Here's what makes this location particularly AWESOME! They offer a variety of gluten-free options which is important for me and as a GF victim. Their topping always look fresh and delicious, and if they don't, they make sure to bring out fresh product to replace it. They are always SUPER friendly and try to make your experience with them unique. The pizzas that come out of the oven are always enjoyable, and if they're not up to par, the staff fixes it. They are incredibly helpful and try their hardest to remember regulars. And there is one more perk of going to this location: - As an ASU student, you're offered a 15% discount with your student ID. Such a convenient place! I love how affordable the pizza is, and you can create your own without having to worry about extra charges for toppings. Most of the time the staff is friendly and greets you, sometimes they say nothing to you. The place is always clean which is great and should be kept, although I've noticed that sometimes the employees are chit chatting to their friends that come in to visit or are just not doing anything behind the counter. This last visit the staff member making our pizza didn't really look at us or acknowledge our conversing with her as she was making our pizza. They actually ended up burning it a bit. I love their lemonade and tea choices, they're always so good but sometimes too sweet. You get what you get, but for most of the tile having a great and cheap pizza it's worth it. We had a long layover yesterday on our way back to Alaska so decided to leave the airport. My friend LOVES Mod Pizza and was SO excited to bring me to a restaurant I've never experienced before. Our server was wonderful and helped me choose ingredients to compliment my basic choice. The cauliflower crust was wonderful and our server went above and beyond, treating me to a No Name Cake in honor of my birthday. I had two amazing experiences here and one dreadful one. Had I not gone the third time I'd be raving and giving 5 stars. Yes, everyone can have an off night, but this was sad. I'll give them another shot when I'm in AZ again and update this review with more detail. They do have some great craft tea options. From the first two experiences I can say they use quality ingredients in the pizzas. It's at an outdoor shopping plaza, so plenty of parking, but often a lot of competition for that parking. The line even when short didn't move fast. This is one of the new fad "chipotle of pizza" type chains, so you're at the mercy of the others in line as much as the staff, so well trained staff is a must. Proper prep and oven temp and oven sweeping are critical so you don't end up with half raw and half burnt crust on the same pizza with burned crumbs across the top from when they shuffled pizzas in the oven. I've been to many chains using this concept and seen it done very well. I suggest more complete training. There is a variety of seating options including some outdoor seating. Comfortable place, even if slightly loud. Two times the staff were courteous and efficient and warm. The last time less so, all the bad in that one visit. read more
