I haven't had their pizza in months so I got excited. The lady behind the counter was super nice and quick. I created my own and took it to go. I ended up eating the whole thing in the car (don't worry I was still parked:)) oh my gosh!! It was delicious!! I'm typically not a huge pizza fan, but really love the simplicity of MOD pizza. The dough is delicious and the flavors are always satisfying. I was debating to leave a slice or two for my daughter for when I pick her up, but I decided I might cause more harm than good since she might get upset I didn't get her her own pizza (I was so excited about getting myself one I forgot about my daughter, oops) so I decided to just finish it and pretend it never happened. There are plenty of tables inside for bigger groups and easy street parking right out front. My pizza was about six slices. It's the MOD size and it was around $16. read more

Been seeing this chain left and right, and thought to try it since our kids like pizza. The menu on the wall didn't have a lot of good options to me, so I just picked the JASPER and TRISTAN to try. The pizza is really small, but they are pretty tasty. I added pineapple to Jasper, and black olive to Tristan with pesto sauce and garlic butter. The balsamic fig sauce was pretty good. The garden salad was a bit disappointing. But overall I would say for the price $50 and the amount of food, it's totally not worth it. Again tho, the pizza was tasty and very fresh. read more

In Illinois one of my favorite places to eat make my own pizza. Always my pizza is different not the same off the shelf one with same flavor. I have loved all the different toppings, sauces and add on sauces. I have only been to Vernon Hills location the people working there are very friendly & helpful. They helped me pick a sauce with tastings. I actually mixed couple of sauces mixed them and poured as a base with garlic then added various other toppings and once they cooked it I added siracha+ranch which was a fun toss. While I was assisting my two young children in the bathroom, my disabled 81 year old father in law was assisting my two nephews out of the restaurant. My father in law is deaf. Then as he was limping to bus our table, a third patron approached us and said she had never seen such inappropriate behavior from an employee. I want to like this location, but have been let down so many times, tonight was no better. We were the only ones in the place at 6:30 on a Wednesday night, first red flag. I never understood Mod's training program, or lack of, the girl behind the counter didn't know the ingredients in the two pizzas we ordered, we had to walk her through the steps. The final straw was the burnt pizzas. We stepped away to get drinks, then waited what seemed like an overly long time for the pizzas to be ready. Once they were played we saw two burnt pizzas. We were offered replacements, but due to time we settled for extra crispy. In my opinion, a dessert or gift card would have been a nice gesture to earn my return business. My advice, stay away from this location. The Vernon Hills and Deer Park locations are better. To the Mod management, pay attention to this location. Fix the staffing and you might get more business in there. read more

To me, MOD pizza offers a lighter alternative to your average pizza place. When you dine in, you also have the ability to create your own pizza up close and personal. Today, we chose to have it delivered. I paid extra for the "mega dough"! However, I was left slightly disappointed when I opened the pizza box to find regular dough. The employee at the counter was fine, but as I'm sitting and eating my pizza about an hour and a half before they're supposed to close, these two employees are dropping pretty loud F-bombs with little kids sitting nearby with their families. They're stacking up chairs and mopping the floor already (again, they close in 90 minutes) and the one guy is daring the other guy to slam the chairs on the tables really loud on purpose while they're stacking them up. It basically made this an unpleasant experience just because of the "atmosphere" the employees (the ones not behind the counter) were creating. Maybe have some pride in your work and realize you reflect the company you work for. Or go work somewhere else. This place feels like a free for all tonight. Best great fast food pizza and sorta healthy depending on what you put on your pizza. The staff is very friendly and very efficient. It takes around 5-7 minutes to cook in the hot oven, and bam your pizza is ready. It's a very convenient place for fast food pizza and a plus is the bajillion of toppings to put on your pizza! There is something for everyone here, and pizza (mini, MOD or Mega) size. I would recommend that you don't put more than 5/6 toppings depending on the weight so it doesn't weight down the slice when you eat it! The staff is very accommodating. Excellent customer service .Upbeat ,cute place also an area outside to eat before Jack Frost comes . My pizza had arugula , basil, oregano, sundries tomato, spicy sausage,black olive ,roasted garlic, red onion, anchovy, red sauce, Asiago , Parmesan. Sounds amazing was just ok. Lot of food was pleasantly stuffed on half of two generous slices . And the lucky winner for the leftovers was my eldest who said the roasted garlic was literally crack . They also give you a choice of six drizzles for the topping if you wish. I tried this mod in Northbrook and if my memory serves me I had the glue ten free crust which I preferred over this cracker crust. They also have an outdoor area as I mentioned earlier and serve beer with an array of different drinks and juices. I will try it again with the vast variety I'm sure I'll find a hit!! read more

I've yet to place an online order yet where I haven't had to wait a half hour after I arrive for my pizza. Then tonight to top that off, they gave me the wrong order though it was clearly on my receipt. Avoid this one at all costs and choose another mod. Cute concept! Some of my local area colleagues have raved about this place so before we left for the airport back to Canada we decided to make MOD lunch. We arrived right about noon on a Friday and the place was lined up out the door and into the parking lot. Three things went through my head. The first, we were a bunch of dummies for coming right at peak. Second, I wondered how long we were going to have to wait and was kind of annoyed. The third, this place must be busy for a reason. Ok, I can't help that sometimes our timing sucks and that is on us and the wait in line wasn't that bad- about 10 minutes. Considering they were lined up the door I would call that a big success for MOD. And yes, the wait was worth it. A good pizza made fresh and to order. We got a table for 6 even during peak lunch. The restaurant is clean, the staff friendly and MOD is licenced! Fabulous after a week of meetings! My only complaint... eek! (Sorry, this is soooo minor). I couldn't eat the whole thing by myself, all at once and I was really looking forward to snack time on the plane home, but they were out of small boxes. Love this concept! You pick your size of pizza and then can put whatever toppings on it you want. They have a bunch of suggestions or you can create your own. They charge by the size of the pizza (Mini, MOD or Mega) and once you choose your size, you can have as many toppings as you want (no upcharges for any of them). I ordered a Tyler, which had canadian bacon, pepperoni, pineapple, tomato sauce, cheese & bbq sauce. It was so good! The crust is really thin and was perfectly crispy. We ate there, so I don't know how long it stays crispy or if it gets soggy if you do carry out. Two flavors of iced tea (I really liked the non-caffeinated pear tea), regular lemonade + fruit lemonade, in addition to a soda fountain & beer/wine on tap. Our only complaint was that the Mega is kind of strange - instead of being a larger pizza, it's actually a "double decker" pizza - crust + sauce + cheese + crust + sauce + cheese + toppings I think. This location was hopping at 6 PM on a Saturday. Families, teenagers on dates, and other adult couples like us. The atmosphere was lively, but not obnoxious. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with me figuring out how it works. It was super quick from order to eating - it only takes a few minute for the pizza to be cooked and it really is cooked to perfection. If you are feeling more creative, put together your own pizza - be it the sauce or the toppings! Feel free to indulge by adding all or few of the toppings. In all of the above "Price Remains the same" - How cool is that? Gone are the days of paying $0.75 - $1.00 extra for every additional topping. (ridiculous). Choices of pizza size vary from Mini (6"), Mod (10") to Mega (18"). The location at Vernon Hills is simply fab. In that they offer super fresh ingredients, awesome customer service, brisk & prompt with the orders and most importantly SPOT ON with taste! I went over to MOD last Saturday and had basically a meat lovers, I don't remember the name. It was 11AM so the place was empty so service was rather quick but again I don't know how it would be if the place had been packed. The staff was very friendly, they did a good job explaining the concept. I love that you can ask them to put any topping and it's not going to cost more. I do wish they would add more cheese, although I didn't try asking to see if they could just add more, maybe they would have. This is certainly not the place I'd go to for pizza with a big group. The largest Pizza is an 11 inch and, well, for me that's basically personal size. So if you have a big group you'd be needing a lot of these at about $8 each. However for a few friends that just want some grub, this place is great. So, how was the actual pizza? It was very good, it's thin crust, obviously that's needed in order to make it so quick, and they did make it rather quick. The curst comes out very nice, not soggy at all, I was able to easily grab a slice and fold it like a man. The location is also great, it's like a TARDIS, it looks smaller on the outside. I noticed they have a patio section, when I went it wasn't set up but that's going to be a fun place during Summer. Only thing I didn't like are the chairs. Luckily I was able to use one of the boothish tables where I was able to sit comfortably, but if you have a large rear or just big thighs then the chairs just suck because they are the kind that just squeeze you in there, like metal lawn chairs with useless arm rests that just hurt your sides. So those are definitely not big people friendly, but, like I said, there are other options that work fine. Overall I enjoyed MOD pizza and I look forward to going again. Oh yea, one last thing I didn't like, I hate it whenever I go to any place where they don't serve me my food but there is still a TIP line on the receipt. I don't feel like I should leave a tip, I ordered my food, they made it, I took care of going to get it. I recently visited this place after 2 years and I I was extremely disappointed and disgusted. The whole build your own counter was extremely messy, and the people preparing the pizza were so rude! I am a vegetarian so I am sensitive to meat falling into veggie containers. They had all meat stuff dropping into everything else. It's like you left a toddler in there and they mixed up everything!! I requested the lady preparing the pizza to change her gloves as she clearly had meat stuck on them, and a young guy next to her rolled his eyes and laughed at us, there was something very racist about him!! Moreover, they mixed up our pizza as we waited and we had to go and identify our pizza among the online orders. While P John's is standard, I like my thin crust pizza the best. When MOD entered Vernon Hills, I was so excited. Quick, Subway like pizza, I'm here for it. The pizza combinations are pretty tasty. I tend to stick with a bbq chicken pizza with a fig balsamic glaze sauce at the end. Like Subway, you can customize it your own way. One of these days, I'll do that, but for now I just get my quick delicious pizza with an already dreamed up one. One of my favorite items here is the iced herbal tea. It's seriously the tastiest herbal iced tea I've had. I think it's caramel pear. I have to get it every time I'm there. The staff is super nice.
