Took my son in to get a haircut. Was surprised to find that they were opened on a Sunday, as they open everyday! Tony cut my sons hair... he is detailed, meticulous and listens to you. Let's start by saying I'm a haircut snob.. I would usually fly to New York and pay $300 just for a haircut. The last hairdo I had (Color, treatment, highlight etc) cost me 800 bucks. I decided to try Modern Image because I had this "Do one thing that scares you" impulse for this particular day. Seriously, they are a hole-in-a-wall kinda salon. Walked in, told Hana I just needed a trim and some layering. My hair was long enough that I know I can always fix it if she ever screw it up. She doesn't know too much English and it was nerve-wracking communicating with her. I almost walked out because I didn't trust her. But I stayed. Because you know, I was daring myself.. Little do I know that was one of the best haircut I have ever had. Her layering technique is perfect and length transition is so natural. My hair has the volume and lightness I was looking for. Did I also mention it only cost me $35? I ended up paying her X2 because I was beyond impressed. She is comparable to the designer haircut I have had in Malaysia and New York. I went to this place with my two boys because it was the only haircut place that opened later than 7pm. Only to figure out they favor others. Two customers came in after us. The employees took the people that came after us first, I was pissed. One person had an appointment, the other came in without an appointment like us. I understood with the person that had an appointment, but the person that didn't, ticked me off. I knew this customer was favored because when he came in, he asked, "Oh, are you guys are closed?" One of the employees said "No." When it was clearly after 8pm when he came in. That same employee took that customer in as soon as he was done giving a haircut with another. He told us that the other employees were going to cut my boys hair. So I waited for them. I was about to leave at 9pm because it was passed my children's bedtime. Employees begged me to stay. I argued that 2 people had their haircuts before my kids, and asked them if my kids were really getting haircuts. They kept saying, "Yes, yes! They are next!" We came around 730 before closed at 8. We stayed till 10pm, 2 hours after closing time! Never coming to this place again. read more

I walked in without an appointment and was lucky enough to get a haircut right away, but they told me it's better to make an appointment in advance. I asked Tony for a fade, line up, hard part, and a trim on top. The haircut was exactly as I wanted it, and the hot towel was a nice touch as well. I had my nails done here and the girls were nice. They take time to really do each nail nicely. I usually don't like my cuticles cut, but they really took their time and didn't rush. For regular manipedi they buff every nail, I was tempted to get french my nails looked prepped so well! They did base 2xcolor and topcoat. At one point I started coughing and one lady brought me water. They do take time, so not the rush you get at other places. It is not fancy, but the waxing chair is like it came from somewhere fancy. It was a good value for the work they put in on my nails. It seems like a lot of guys get haircuts here. If I was in the area with a bit of time, I would go again.
