This place could be great hit the atrocious service from multiple visits makes me never want to return (no care, no concern, no empathy, no sense of urgency to serve). Food is fine and plenty of options but this doesn't make up for their service. Waiting 20+ minutes while watching multiple tables sit empty or needing to be cleaned is a dealbreaker for ever returning. Worst part is that they are so close to where we live!!! I had the opportunity to visit Modern Margarita again, and because of my experience at Modern Margarita last year, I brought some friends who were visiting. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite of what I experienced last year. I would give this one star, but the food quality was still good so two stars it is. But the service was abysmal, and that's me describing it lightly. We came on Cinco de Mayo and arrived shortly upon their opening time at 11:00am. We wanted to get there early because with it being Taco Tuesday + Cinco de Mayo, we expected it to be busy. So full disclosure: We did have 12 people, and it seemed they were not staffed for a large group upon opening. According to my receipt, we had Cameron J serving us. He didn't actually disclose his name so I'm not 100%. We walked in, and he stated he could sit anywhere so we sat at the largest table they had which accommodated all of us. He promptly came over and took our drink and appetizer orders. Personally, I ordered a tequila flight because I had never tried the crystalino flight, and as a tequila enjoyer, I wanted to try some new drinks. Most of the people in our group ordered margarita flights, and I fully expected drinks to take awhile to be delivered because there were so many different margaritas that needed to be made. When my flight finally arrived, I asked which one was which, and he said didn't know. That totally defeated the purpose of ordering the flight in the first place! In his words, "It will be like russian roulette." It took quite awhile (I'm unsure of the exact time) for him to come back and actually take our food order. I know it was about 12pm by this point, so we had already been there for an hour. However, he only took the food order for two people in our party then walked away. Those two people received their food pretty promptly after ordering. However, our server didn't come back until 12:20pm, and that's only because I said, "Excuse me, can the rest of us order?" He took my order. I ordered the taco entree which includes two sides. After I indicated that I wanted the rice and beans, I asked if there was any cheese on the beans, and he said no. Okay great. I'm very lactose intolerant. But more on this in a little bit. And rather than continuing around the table, he walked away again! Needless to say, the rest of our party was pretty upset. He did come back within about 10 minutes to finish taking orders. My food gets delivered, and the first thing I see was cheese on the beans and all over the rice. He didn't come back to check on us very quickly, and I (once again) had to flag him to our table, and I said, "You had mentioned there wasn't cheese, soooo what's up with this?" He said, "Oh crap." and then he said he'll go get it fixed. But he didn't take my plate away? He just brought me a side of beans without the cheese but he clearly was not concerned about the cheese contamination on the rest of my plate. I didn't touch the rice and ate what I could as I had lost all trust in this person to be able to do any part of their job in a correct fashion. Perhaps he was new? Perhaps he was overwhelmed by the large party at opening time? Either way, this isn't necessarily a negative review for him. This is a negative review for poor planning for the holiday, and clearly poor training as he was not capable of delivering a positive experience on his own. Also, he was not able to actually charge us correctly, as my tequila flight was changed to an 1800 Cristalino for $15 instead of the $28 Cristalino flight. I did mention it to him as I saw the total math out the way that I was expecting, and he said there were two cristalino flights? I don't know. I was ready to get out of there as soon as possible. I went here for National Margarita day on Sunday! I was very excited and walked in and it was "seat yourself". We sat outside at the patio and it was nice, the cushion seats are a little wonky but do the job. Our server was amazing, she was also the only server working and was taking on 6+ tables. The food was good, not great. The happy hour deals are amazing!! The drinks especially the frozen margs were 10/10. Quaint, lively, bright. Those were my first impressions walking into modern margaritas for the first time. We were immediately greeted by our server who seemed to be the only one on the floor. She brought us water right away and gave us a moment with the menu. We were only visiting for drinks and a snack and we left completely satisfied! Sunday was happy hour all day so our margaritas were only $7. Two of us got frozen with flavor shots and one got the OG Rita. The frozen margaritas were perfectly blended but the flavor shots made them initially overly sweet. Once mixed with a straw, they were much more balanced. We also got chips and salsa with the regular and spicy salsa. Both were good but the spicy had too much of a chipotle flavor for my taste (I much prefer jalapeños). Overall a great first experience and hope to try the tacos sometime soon. read more

Stopped in for lunch one day. Fast friendly service. Great dog friendly patio in Chandler. Both of my tacos were delicious and had just the right amount of heat. The veggie one with mushrooms was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more. read more

I never knew this place existed until my friend brought me here for dinner. Upon entering, it's a cute place but wasn't busy at all so I wasn't sure what to expect. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised and have since been here multiple times. I'm actually writing this review while sitting at the bar eating the delicious burrito in the picture lol. The food is really good and the service has been great. The staff have been wonderful each time that I have visited here. I've been here about 3 times and neither time has been busy with patrons. Not sure why but this place is great. Darn it now the secret spot is out and I might have to wait to be seated next time lol. All seriousness, I sure hope so because this place is cool. read more

My margarita was good small but good. No one was near the door to greet us, but eventually someone came. The place is clean. My tacos were good. My husband's burrito was dry and not very tasty. Very expensive for what you're getting. We ordered an appetizer of walk and chips. That was very good. However, not very much walk for the amount of chips. I don't think we'll come back. It's a little pricey for what you get and I'm not sure how the rest of the menu items are. I would say if you go order the tacos and the guacamole and chips. Be prepared for a bigger bill and the margaritas are good. Just not a lot of it.. We came on a Friday night. I was surprised that they were not busy yet at 8:30 PM. The service was excellent. The girls were great! The margaritas tasted great! The monster nachos were very disappointing. It only had some queso and crema with very sparing pico on some very salty chips. No salsa or anything. The food was disappointing. I looked at the other pictures of nachos so this was not a one time incident. The food was good. First time here for a team lunch. I liked the Mahi tacos, and tried the Miso Steak Tacos. I didn't like that when you order a taco plate it has to be two of the same taco... defeats the purpose of wanting to try more than one. The plate also comes with rice and beans. I got mines with double rice. It's a cilantro lime rice with onions and a hint of green chili. I also liked the salsa that came with the chips. Pretty good! My teammate ordered the queso and seemed to enjoy it! The weather was nice out , we sat outside.. they have umbrellas along the patio that don't provide any shade at all because they can't even fully open. The ambiance was nice. Fun cute photo op walls. Came here for quick lunch with my friend. Looks like a fun place to hang out and drink with your friends. I came here for lunch. Menu looked pretty unique far as the style of food. I was going to try the wings until bartender/waitress told me it comes with 6 wings.. Hmmm I'll pass. I figure I go with tacos since the name of the place. Went with grilled fish as recommended by the waitress and Nashville hot chicken tacos.. Something different. Taco Tues so it was $1 off per taco. Well lord have mercy. Taco was sooo tiny.. I don't know why I only ordered 2. Presentation was nice and they looked yummy. Far as flavor I have to say it was pretty good. Fish taco was different then traditional. Nashville had lite kick to it and it was pretty tasty. My friend ordered chicken strips . Which I mean it was chicken strips. Service was pretty good food took way longer than expected. Over all, was not bad but $5 per small two bite size tacos seems way over board. Proably won't be coming here again. read more

The margarita we ordered was small and had more ice than liquor. The food was decent, except beef nachos shouldn't have a small bone in them. We could have looked past all of that if we were deaf, but we aren't. The music was so loud that we had to shout at each other. If there were mostly couples looking for a club atmosphere I could get it, but it was a few families and us. We did ask if the music could be turned down just a little and were told no. Apparently they have loud music on Fridays and Saturday, but I don't think we'll be back on any days. read more

Had a late-ish dinner at Modern Margarita with the family after my son's practice nearby. It was a weeknight and they weren't very busy, but had a handful of diners. We were greeted immediately and asked to seat wherever. We chose a big booth. The space has a party vibe and I could see it being lively on the weekends. We started with queso before ordering our entrees. The queso was okay. The small portion was also disappointing considering it was $8. We all decided on tacos for our entrees. I chose one fried fish taco and one miso fish taco as well as a side of elote. The tacos were great and tasty. They start at $5.50 and are a decent size. Once again, I was disappointed by the small portion of the elote. It was $10 for a tiny bowl. Overall had a good experience. With so many Mexican food options in the area, Modern Margarita would not be one of our top choices. However, I wouldn't mind returning to try their margs! read more

My visit was pleasant, the atmosphere was in fact modern. I got there during happy hour. They have a little happy hour menu that's has some food and drink options. I opted for an OG margarita and two Asada tacos for a total of $14+ tax. The tacos were topped with all toppings necessary to make it very flavorful although i feel the meat itself could've tasted better. The combination of taco and watermelon flavored margarita to wash it down was delightful. This place hosts tons of exciting events like DJs on the weekend, video game days, corn hole tournaments, adopt a dog friday, etc. It's worth following them on instagram to follow up with all the events. Every time I go to the gym right opposite I have wanted to try this place. This area is fasting growing and there's so much to do. Finally went in around 6:30pm on a Friday and it was still happy hour. There were a lot of people for a Friday evening and the ambience is casual and sporty. We were seated immediately but the waiter took some time to take our order. We went with the happy hour menu and ordered some veggie toasts which was a crispy taco topped with corn, guacamole, cheese and many more, it was really good. The food is pretty tasty For drinks we picked OG Rita and OG Rustic both were decent. The service was quick and friendly. We were glad to try the food and the drink. SO glad they put one of these in Gilbert (I used to live by the one on High Street)! LOVE there frozen margaritas, beer cheese with chips and bean dip. There tacos are awesome too, very flavorful and there a la cart street tacos (blows a kiss to the air) DE-LISH and their burritos are huge!!!! Syerra was my bartender and she was AWESOME, 5 stars! Haven't had such amazing service for a while. She was incredibly attentive, checked in on me and other bar guests multiple times, very efficient and truly a delight!
