We tried Modern Market Eatery (aka Mod Market) for dinner last night and had a pretty good overall experience. I ordered the Thai Coconut Salad, and it was delicious--fresh, flavorful, and definitely something I'd get again. My husband went with the Buddha Bowl and mentioned it had a bit more spice than he was expecting, but still enjoyed it. Our daughter had the cheese pizza, which was good, though the crust was thinner than she prefers. We also had the lemonade and iced tea, both of which were really refreshing and a nice addition to the meal. When we arrived around 7:30pm on a Sunday, the place was surprisingly empty. Service was fine--nothing standout, but no complaints either. Overall, a solid, healthy option for a casual meal, especially if you're in the mood for something fresh and light. read more

This place is usually a winner, but not tonight. This is a reminder to ALWAYS check my order before leaving. I ordered a steak salad and specifically asked for no croutons, which was printed on the label on my salad, and guess what I got? Croutons. I can pick them off, yes, but why when I asked not to have them? I also was given the wrong salad dressing. Second, I ordered a side of mac and cheese and got home to find only a small corner of mac and cheese in the container. Sometimes I wonder what goes through the minds of people working in restaurants. Prepare customers' food like you would prepare your own. I certainly give second chances, but with the cost of eating out, it's hard to do when the standards seem to keep dropping. read more

We just moved to Longmont and tonight was my first time trying Modern Market! I went in with steak on my mind and when I went to order, the team member told me it would be a 30 minute wait. We ended up ordering the steak anyway, the team was so nice and accommodating during our 30 minute wait. Everyone was so positive and welcoming. The food was great and a big portion for me so I will get a couple meals out of it! We will go back for the food but we will mainly go back for the customer service we received tonight. This was the first place we went to when we landed in Boulder! I have to admit, I was impressed with the pumpkin curry bowl, it was the right mix of veggies/protein/carbs in a bowl that I can't find anything like this in California! It was very good! It's very low key but has vegan options as well. - Order at the counter: Bowl, Salad, Sandwiches - Self serve beverages (the teas are good) - Nice restrooms - Self seating - Bus your own table Would definitely go back here again. We placed a large order for curbside pickup. It was a treat for us to order food as we have been staying in and have only gotten takeout a few times since March. Tofu was the protein for three of the meals, Buddha Bowl, Thai Coconut Salad and Lemongrass (Tofu) Bowl. We also ordered the Wintergreen Salad, Mediterranean Bowl and a quart each of heirloom rice and roasted vegetables. The flavor was good on everything, the food was fresh. So why 3 stars? Because we've eaten there before and always have been satisfied with our meals, enough but not too much, just right for the price. So it was a huge disappointment that my Thai coconut salad had just 3 pieces of tofu. The Buddha bowl had just 4 pieces and the lemongrass bowl had more, but still just 5 pieces. A paltry amount of protein, and far less than we have received in the past. If this is the new portion for tofu (but each dish had a different amount), it is inadequate. If the restaurant ran out, they should have offered another option, so that we could have received a fully satisfying meal with adequate protein. I don't know if I will go back, it was extremely disappointing to finish dinner and still be hungry. read more

The menu says "breakfast all day," so I was excited about a burrito for dinner, only to be told that "breakfast all day" was only on weekends, which if it's on the menu outside is very hard to see. The cashier said, "Yeah, a lot of people think that's confusing." I wish it was marked more clearly. So, I ordered the 3 cheese pizza. It arrived drenched in sauce with a scant amount of cheese. There was so much sauce that the sauce and toppings fell off completely every time I picked up a piece. I finally was so frustrated I quit eating it. My family liked the protein bowls and my girls liked their kids meals, though they were quite small and had no sides, so they ate again later. I took my wife and daughter to the the Longmont location this weekend. They split a bowl and liked it. I ordered half of a chipotle steak sandwich. My bill seemed a bit high when they rang me up but I trusted them. When I picked up our order, they made me, and charged me, for a whole sandwich instead of half. There's no way that I can eat one of the whole versions of their sandwiches. Their sandwiches are pretty big. My wife and I always split one when we do order one. Another problem was that the meat was somewhere between lukewarm and cold when it arrived. Otherwise the sandwich was delicious. I returned the half that I didn't eat and they adjusted my credit card. I haven't verified that with my bank yet. We will return to "Mod" Market (wish they hadn't changed their name), and will enjoy their wonderful dishes. I will be more vigilant when I order anything in a half portion. read more

Extremely poor customer service! I mean bad, really bad! Ordered takeout and when we got the food home, an integral part of each plate was missing. When we called, we were not helped in any satisfactory way. No refund, no help! We received a telephone number to corporate. When we called the number, it was merely a recording that eventually disconnected on us. When we called the establishment back we were told the manager was too busy to speak with us, despite knowing we were calling about unsatisfactory service. Also filed a complaint through the website and over 24 hours later, we still have not received any response. Sadly, I do NOT recommend this restaurant! read more

Mod Market has become one of my favorite places for an easy sandwich and oddly enough pizza. The ingredients are always fresh and tastes so much better than the other fast food places. Over the last few years I have never seen the quality of the food or the service from the staff ever go down. If anything it keeps going up. The portions are also very good for the price usually leaving me with leftovers or enough for dinner if I stop in for lunch. A normal sandwich in boulder of this type usually tends to be the standard size of sliced bread, but these rolls and breads seem to be slightly oversized with the Basil Chicken measuring almost 8 inches across which is pretty big. I can usually comfortably eat half of one and be good for lunch. Same goes for the pizza which honestly is my favorite thing about this place. The pies are about 10 inches and cost less than $10, but the ingredients you get are very fresh and a step above any of the local chains you find around. The same pizza's in Denver run about $18 and honestly taste the same if not worse. Also being able to order food online and then going and picking it up makes it even better to help avoid the lunch rush which can get pretty chaotic. The staff also has no issues with any special requests from allergies or if you just like something a different way. I always take a base pizza they have and tweak it to what I want with no problem. The inside is also always clean and welcoming and the staff is polite and friendly and usually can help recommend something new or if need be make something special when the time calls for it. I highly recommend stopping in if you want a change from the normal quick sandwich chains. Also every receipt you get has a discount on it for your next visit, which is pretty awesome. read more

Good luck if you're planning on using or buying a gift card. Every single time I have used mine, the staff acts as if I'm using some kind of foreign currency and inconveniencing them. After posting my first review, the owner of ModMarket contacted me and offered to give me a salad on the house since the first one was sub-par. I will say that customer service and follow-through are such a huge factor; I was very impressed that he was so quick to respond to my review AND offer to make it right! Of course, I can't turn down a free salad so I took him up on it. We redeemed our free meal last night and I will say that I was very pleased. We got the Flatiron Salad and it was perfectly portioned this time around. My only complaint (and it wasn't really even THAT bad) was that the flank steak used in our salad was a bit gristly - quite a bit of fat. It's really easy to overcook flank steak and make it tough but it was very tender and the flavor was tasty. We also got the whole Proscuitto and Pear pizza (which their manager on duty also graciously comp'd for us!!) which was outstanding! It's got gorgonzola cheese and arugula on it and the flavors were great together. I will note AGAIN that the pizza was done to perfection (often times wood-fired pizzas are a bit charred). BRAVO, ModMarket. I will also say that your staff is phenomenal. At this style of dining establishment, it's easy to be friendly but hard to leave an impression and your employees did just that. The guy who took my order was very friendly going so far as to recommend the pizza I ended up choosing; the manager who made sure that our meal was taken care of was so gracious and wanted to make sure that we were extra pleased with this visit. Lastly, the order coordinator who was the one to put our order together and hand everything to me was great. I'm very impressed! Oddly enough this place never hits my mind first for places to go but I enjoy the food, atmosphere, and service. They have a really informative menu, with nutritional information, ingredients, allergies, and so forth. They also have half and full size portions, very nice for mix and match or small amounts of food. The oven pizza is thin crust, good toppings, hot and enjoyable. I personally love the superfood salad, perfect dressing, toppings, very good. Sodas are special options and yummy....beer and wine are also available. You can sit inside or outside, with large tables available for groups and smaller tables for more intimate dinning. The inside is casual though, and a bit hard to hear as there isn't a lot of soft wall/ceiling sound blockers. I usually bring guests here and plan on doing so again. read more

Yuck! What a dismal excuse and disgrace to Pizzas everywhere. Firstly, your using the wrong mozzarella cheese. It doesn't melt, doesn't get stringy - it is rubber and disgusting. The sauce is like a flavorless tomato soupy mess that makes the crust as soggy as a maxi-pad. Gross! I've had pizza from all places around the world and Mod Market's pizza is voted the worst pizza to ever exist! Yuck!!! EPIC FAIL Farm? Farms don't force you to sign into their wifi network each time to track your behavioral analytics. Long wooden tables are too short on the underside - knees smash into it each time. Chairs are ergonomically incorrect forcing the user to sit on the edge of the chair to avoid the metal bars from digging into your kidneys. Ugh! Wondering just how the 'sticky layers' of previous customers are cleaned off the surface. Oh yes, from my arms as I peel them off the surface. Yuck! I ordered extra cheese on my pizza and was pleasantly surprised to know I should have brought my microscope and lab kit to test for the presence of cheese. Come on ModMarket! After eating here, I discovered just how big of a chain it is. The fact that there are so many is certainly a good sign for their business model and menu. It's similar to other semi-fast food establishments in that you order at the counter and receive your food a short time later. However, rather than having staff bring your order to you, they hand you a buzzer and you retrieve it at the counter. I appreciate that they use real plates, cutlery and glasses to cut down on waste. The staff was helpful and the tables were spotless from an employee constantly flitting about with his towel. I ordered the Tender Belly BLT with avocado at the recommendation of my friend and it was DELICIOUS. I had requested a kombucha and had already paid when it was discovered they were out. They offered to refund or provide another drink, I chose a glass of the chardonnay. The only slight downside I saw was that I didn't think trays were necessary for every order and was a waste of water in cleaning later on. Also, the buckets with dishes at the bussing stations were quite full. I would certainly go back as the food is fresh from the farm and mostly made from scratch. I look forward to trying more of their menu when given the chance in my future travels. read more
