We come here about 2 to 4 times per month and love it. Today we tried the Homestyle meal - Angus beef with mashed potatoes and veggies. The meat and veggies were delicious, but cold. I absolutely hate, having to give a bad review to a brick and mortar place, as we are slowly running out of them, but it is simply impossible, not to do so at this point. I really enjoy Modern market's food. I got to know them, because they cater to my work place quite often. It is fresh, healthy, and affordable. However, when ordering from the Longmont location, there was always, and I mean ALWAYS, something missing, and they never tell you anything or even verify who picks the bag from the rack. Either they forget to add one topping, or replaced the drink with something we didn't order, or miss the main protein completely. Many times you added extra salmon or tuna, and it was simply not there. A couple of times they were out of the dessert or a specific drink and would put something else in the bag. At first, we only realized it when we got home, so oh well, it happens, they were probably busy and forgot to tell us. But it kept happening, I ordered once a week or so, and the order was always missing one, two things, every single time. And you know what is worse? They, literally, let you walk out the door without telling you anything. I mean, your chicken dish, is missing the chicken, but they think that it is better you figure that out at home.... As we loved the food, we would order but would investigate the order, thoroughly, before we left the place. Every single time, we had to bother them about this or that missing, and they simply shrugged their shoulders and acknowledged that yeah, this or that was missing, and they just didn't think they had to say anything.... The last drop was ordering a day in advance (paid and confirmed), and them not even having the order in the system, and saying we were mistaken. Magically, they finally found it, and then acted absolutely outraged for having to put it together at the last minute, like we were not owed it that much. I am very sorry for the company itself and other locations, but the Longmont one is absolutely not worth your money, the service, and the workers are absolutely terrible. read more

Like the byline says modmarket is a farm fresh eatery with fresh goodness and tasty cuisine. They have a nice assortment of salads sandwiches and soups (I love the butternut cashew) for every palate and an assortment of local breweries breweries to drink from. A lot of their product offerings are gluten-free and sodas using organic sugars. For the practical side they have Oskar Blue in cans. The Flank steak was melt in the mouth tender. Could have been served a little warmer temperature. Like their biography says you could eat here each and every day. I eat here every time I come to town. read more

Our first of many dining experiences to come. We were extremely pleased with our meal tonight. The first thing that made us happy is the beer and wine menu. The beers are reasonably priced at $3.25, and the wine is $5 glass. For dinner my husband and I ordered pizza, a half order each. My husband ordered the pepperoni and I ordered the Prociutto Pear Gorgonzola & Arugula Pizza. Both were cooked to perfection! We are fans of their thin crust and wood fired oven. I also ordered the cashew butternut soup. I thought it was very, very good. The service was exceptional, and we did not have to wait very long for our food. Fantastic food, horrible atmosphere. Parents seem to come so they can talk with friends while letting their kids run around like maniacs. It created an unsafe situation for the servers as well. Kids next to us were banging on the seats and hiding under our table and other folk's tables. The management really needs to rein in this situation. I'll never eat there again. read more

In the past I have enjoyed the food at Modern Market, but our experiences lately have been so bad I couldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. We have eaten here regularly (at least 2x a month) for the last year or so. Tonight my husband tried to phone in an order for pickup. We were excited to take advantage of the free kids meals on Sunday. The woman who took the order said he'd have to pay when he got there to get the kids meals for free. No biggie. He went to get the food and the cashier refused to take them off the ticket since he'd phoned in the order. What?! It would not have been a problem to order in person. Why one employee stated they'd be free and the other refused makes no sense. It was an $11 difference and the free kids meals were the only reason we'd decided to get dinner tonight. One of the 4 entrees we ordered was missing from our order. My husband had to sit and wait for an additional 10-15 minutes. This meant the rest of the food was completely cold by the time he left. He got the order home and a salad was missing it's dressing. The chicken in the homestyle plate was unsalted and totally bland. None of these thing were that big of deal alone, but almost all of our to go orders in the last few months have had similar issues of missing components (or burned black bacon, barely filled sides cups, not fresh ingredients etc...). The quality control that used to be great here seems to be gone. We paid $60 for our meal tonight and were extremely disappointed. read more

We've eaten here a lot. Or did. Dinner I don't think I've ever had an issue with; the pizzas are fantastic; hence the 2 stars, but breakfast is a major fail. And I don't eat here enough for dinner to base my whole review on it. When we first moved up here a couple of years ago we came in every Saturday morning; now I'll probably never go back. Although I will say the staff is pleasant. The first change they made was to the potatoes (it's been awhile for this); instead of small chunks that were always cooked well they went to a larger chunk that either comes out cold, mushy, or undercooked. And always over seasoned. They switched coffees; which Coda is fantastic, but there's always grounds in my cup. The toast never comes out hot enough to melt the huge chunks of butter, and recently they switched from strawberry jam to what I'm guessing is the blueberry compote for waffles. It's not sweet like jam should be and doesn't spread well. I used to switch it up but the main course would have issues as well; cooked spinach went to uncooked, bread on sandwiches was hard as a rock. The only thing that comes out worthwhile is the chili and eggs; but is that worth it? Not anymore. read more

Terrible manager chooses to scream at me the moment I walk in because of a DoorDash order that I delivered incorrectly which wasn't even my fault because I only grabbed the items I was told to grab by one of the employees on the food line. Screaming at anyone right off the bat is completely unprofessional especially when the manager herself was responsible for making sure the order went out correctly. Again I only did exactly what I was instructed to do so for her to do that was extremely disrespectful, rude, and immature. If you want healthy, tasty, affordable food in generous portions, this is your ticket. A person could eat every meal here and still feel great about both their health and their wallet, which can't be said for most restaurants. Definitely come here if you have any sort of dietary restriction, as these folks can substitute pretty much anything. Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, paleo - you name it, they can probably do it. Everything can be done gluten-free (they have GF bread and pizza crusts), you can substitute cheese or quinoa for meat, and the salads are mostly paleo (and freakin' delicious - I recommend the Thai Coconut Salad with chicken). Some of my favourite dishes include the BBQ Chicken Pizza, the Prosciutto Pizza, the Tofu Dinner Plate with mashed sweet potato, the Lentil Curry Soup, the Mushroom Pear Salad (bring it back!!), and the Bacon Spinach Breakfast Scramble (just substitute tofu for the eggs, if need be). Portions here are awesome. I can eat like a horse and I am satisfied by this place. The salads are enormous! A nice slab of meat and a mountain of veggies, fruit, nuts, and delectable house-made dressing. They also have kid-friendly dishes, like mac'n'cheese, grilled cheese sandwich, chicken tenders, if I recall correctly. I see lots of homeschoolers having lunch here, and families with children eating dinner (and I've found that the kids who come here are very well behaved). This chain makes a point of using local and seasonal ingredients, so the menu does change as the year progresses, which I think is a good way to cook. There are individual tables and also long communal tables. Food is served cafeteria-style on trays and you bus your own table. The employees are great. The music is a little weird sometimes, as though it would be more at home in a nightclub at 4am when people are ready to wind down. This is the future of food, in my opinion: healthy, convenient, community-oriented, and humble. Not to mention toothsome! My partner and I both got bowls (curry salmon, and protein with tofu, roasted veggies, and sweet potato mash) and they both were delicious. Extremely bad service. I ordered a blueberry Pesto sandwich to go from MOD Market Longmont. They put chicken in it. It's not supposed to have ANY MEAT in it. I am NOT an avid meat eater and like to avoid it as much as possible.Since the order was for to go, I am not spending more of my time and money to go back to get another one. My husband and I first went to Modmarket a month or so ago, and have been back around 6 times since. It would probably be more, but we live in Fort Collins so we only go when we are passing through. I will start by saying the staff is always happy, friendly and readily available if anyone has any questions. The atmosphere is casual and it hasn't been overly crowded any of the times we went. We love this place because we were looking for healthier options (as our New Years resolution was to lose weight/eat healthier) and this place has them. The calories are right on the menu (and conveniently printed on your receipt with a total at the bottom so you know how many calories you are eating). For lunch, I find that the half portions are just right, though my husband needs a little more to feel full. I am a big fan of their variety of salads. Everything always tastes so crisp and fresh! The last time I went I had a Winter Cobb. I am not a big fan of brussel sprouts but they actually went great in this salad. I ate every last bite. I also really enjoyed their M'Rita Pizza, but my favorite by far is the Prosciutto Pizza. The Green Chicken Chili is very flavorful and hearty (almost more like a stew), and the Chicken Plate is also quite good, and filling. I don't think I've had anything yet that I didn't like. Lastly, I think it's fantastic that they use locally sourced food. Everything tastes fresh and wonderful and their menu changes up frequently. We frequently go to the Longmont location and have always had excellent food and service. It's an order at the counter, take a buzzer, grab your food when it's ready kind of place. I typically get the Asian salad which is very good with a peanut sauce dressing. We've had the pizza which was also very good and more than enough for one person. They have an all natural soda fountain which is very cool, no crappy high fructose stuff so the kids can get a treat. My only complaint would be that there are frequently many open tables that haven't been wiped down and I've had to ask to get a clean spot on more than one occasion. read more

Bling! ModMarket is the type of restaurant that shames all the others. They use in-season ingredients only in their dishes, so the menu will change. Also, they have an open kitchen, which goes to show that they have nothing to hide and use fresh ingredients. I don't think theres anything fried on the menu. The design of the place is simple, modern, & clean : similar to their food. They offer quality sandwiches, killer salads, and pretty good pizzas. Beer & wine too. None of it is that expensive either. My Chipotle Steak sandwich was too spicy to enjoy. I like spicy, that's why I ordered it, but it just overwhelmed the sandwich. The heat and the difficult Ciabbata bread made my lunch just something I wanted to "get through." Quick Rant: Every sandwich was on Ciabbata. I've been to Mod on three occasions in the past couple of weeks, once for breakfast, once for a glass of wine with a friend and this morning for coffee with a friend. Breakfast was really good, eggs cooked to order, wonderful sausage and nice grain-y toast. Service was excellent. Even on the two occasions when we only had coffee or a couple of glasses of wine, service was friendly, no looking down their noses for a small tab. One of the staff comped my friend's diet cola so she could taste it. I'm becoming a regular. Also like that it's next to Lucky's Market. Since I originally posted this, I've been back for both lunch and dinner on several occasions. Everything I said the first time still applies. I had the curry salmon bowl and my bf has a steak sandwich. The salmon was over cooked and dry, and his steak was undercooked and chewy. The flavors were all there, as far as sauces and such. It was tasty but way overpriced for the portion sizes, in my opinion. I do appreciate the safety taken for allergies and celiac disease, and there are lots of gluten free/vegetarian options. I ordered takeout here. Ordered my 5 year old son a cheese pizza and they gave us a beef sandwich. He is a vegetarian so he had to eat two pieces of bread for lunch. I ordered extra tofu (and paid for it) and there wasn't a single piece of tofu on my salad. We didn't realize this until we were way too far to return to the restaurant.
