I'm not sure why this place has so many high reviews. I have been a few times for pedicure only (basic pedicure is $35), and the employees always upsell, and not a little upselling, like pushing and pushing until you say yes. I politely said no to a "deluxe" pedicure ($42) and the employee truly would not take no for an answer. She kept telling me she would do a neck massage (I said yes to this one time prior and it was an awful heated neck wrap and some karate chops on my shoulders). But yesterday, all I wanted was your basic pedicure. I even bring my own polish. Well, today my toenails are uneven and snagging on stuff, I'm pissed I was upsold (my fault for not leaving the salon). And the lady didn't get a tip, as that all went to my upcharge. I would only go here if you're good at saying no harshly. Or if you want to throw your money to this place. I have two stars because I got a pedicure, and they did the work. But will not be going back. I'm not sure you can tell in the photo, but my big toe nail is literally jagged. Rip off for a pedicure. Please stop aggressively upselling your services. When people say no, just politely say okay. It's absolutely NOT RELAXING, and it feels like a total rip off! I went three salons here in Annapolis, none had the supplies, interest or ability to do this. I remembered a new salon in Crofton when it was being built, today was the day that I threw up a Hail Mary and tried them. Beautiful shop, easy parking, skilled technicians, manager and all staff are very friendly. I showed Mr. Win a combination of a few designs and told him have at it. I have come here for a while, since Chan and Elvis were here. They have since gone so I have gotten comfortable with Steven, who is very good and gentle. I prefer getting the powder dips but I don't like the nails to look too thick. He knows this art and has come thru very well. I was very pleased with the results. I had to come back the next day because I broke a nail at work. Steven fixed my nail with a tip and you can't even tell next to the other nails that there ever was a problem. He is very good. I had gotten a fantastic milk & honey pedicure by Sofìe. She was wonderful and treated and massaged my legs with a rich exfoliating scrub, then a milk honey mask. Your nail experience depends on the nail technician, I highly suggest Tiffany or Chan. I typically spend about $75.00 for this service. The place is pretty clean, you are required to wear a mask to enter. They have plastic shields set up between you and the nail technician and each nail station is about six feet apart. As far as the nail color options, they typically use DND as their official nail polish brand. One reason I really like this brand is the option of getting a color you like in regular or gel finish. My favorite colors include Bellet Slipper (496), Summer Sun (506), Lilac Season (493), French Tip (473) and Pixie (727). They just brought in a few new colors from their 2021 spring collection, I can't wait to try Carmel Corn (744), Honey (745) and Ginger (714). I highly recommend getting your nails done here, the staff are professional, friendly and attentive. read more

After having gel polish removed, all my nails broke off down to the quick. When I complained, all the manager kept saying is "That's normal." I've never had trouble with my nails breaking after a gel manicure. You can feel the ridges on my nails where their machine dug into my nails. The manager tried to tell me they need to use the machine to get the gel off. Finally she admitted they don't soak them off because it takes too long. Better to damage the nails than take up their time. read more

Firstly I had a pretty great pedicure from a tall woman with short hair. However, this is the second time I got an older woman with long black hair for my nails. And I gotta say...she's just not very good. Like at all. She doesn't really listen to what you want. But also, I don't know maybe she just can't see well....but I had acrylic ALL over my fingers, cuticles, the sides of the nails. And it wasn't cleaned up well during the filing process....ar one point I took the nail file myself to fix it because she just couldn't see what I was talking about. And they look like I've already had them for a week. I tend to like this place but will have to be sure to specifically ask for someone else. I have gotten my nails done at this salon for the past few years and never had any issues until my last visit. My nail tech, Thomas has always been fantastic, however, his English is limited. The manager, Anna, had to intervene to get a better understanding of my request. When Thomas was halfway through my manicure, I brought to his attention that it was not looking like what I had envisioned. Anna jumps in, gets in my face, and begins arguing that what I asked for was what he was doing. Not only was her communication with me rude and unprofessional, but she also proceeded to call me a 'liar' and accused me of not knowing what I was talking about. Instead of her rectifying the situation and coming up with a solution, she continued to berate me and tried to prove that I was wrong. She is also the same person who acts like she doesn't know who you are each time you walk through the door. There was never a personable greeting or acknowledgment that you are a valued customer as she is very transactional with no awareness of how to treat customers. Unfortunately, great nail techs like Thomas will suffer from losing customers because of her rude behavior and poor customer service, and I will NEVER patronize this shop again! read more

Very nice people and nice salon, but terrible job. Clumpy and messy around the edges. Also used a gel light in between coats for a dip manicure? which I've never seen before. I could see polish all around my fingers under the black light. I had to ask to clean up the skin around, which is basic in any manicure. Pedicure wasn't much better. Didn't push back cuticles, clean up the edges or even buff the nails. On top of it, dip + gel pedicure was $120. Omg this was exactly what I needed! This place is not only sanitary (they use brand new covers for the pedicure tubs for each customer) but the customer service and treatment is phenomenal. Brian was my technician gave an amazing lengthy massage. I got the $65 pedicure which comes with not only your standard pedi stuff but paraffin and longer massage AND heated neck pillow followed by a shoulder neck massage while I was waiting for my toes to dry. Additionally they offer complimentary beverages such as wine and champagne. Excellent service for the price! I will be returning. I just began going to this salon when my nail tech, Chan Tong, moved here. Where he goes I go. Seriously, I'd follow him anywhere. He is that amazing at what he does and so is his cousin, Elvis. I get SNS done regularly and it always looks AMAZING. My nails never chip, I've never had any breaks, and I ALWAYS get compliments. Plus they're both hilarious and put a smile on your face while you relax and treat yourself. Modern Nail has definitely added two beyond excellent members of the team to their salon! read more

So far so good. They just recently opened up and the place was very cute, clean and of course modern. They have a whole wall of colors which I loved because hello I love options even if I do choose the same three shades of pink every time! They did try to strong arm me into getting gel but I kindly declined. Same with a pedicure but that's expected. I walked in without an appointment and just asked for polish. They had me pick out my color and sat me next to the only other person in the whole place which was kind of awkward. But the nail techs wanted to be close so they could talk to each other I guess ? Anyways what threw me off the most was that the nail tech did two coats and maybe lost count on the other hand which she did three coats on. I could tell the difference because I'm knit picky like that, and asked her if she could do another coat. It was a very light pink so you could notice one was darker. She thought I was crazy but of course did it anyway. The final product was a little messy but I was just glad they came out better than I do them myself and it was only $9. The receptionist checked me out when I finally thought my nails were dry. (My nail tech had already taken another client at that point and left me to dry). I'll be back to see if their pedicures are worth it and review once more! read more

had appointment august 5 2024 at 2.00, came in they took me to the back. i was suppose to get a pedicure, they put my feet in the water and left me there for 45 minitues, nobody came to service me, i ask for a towel and dried my feet off and left. my neighbor was treating me, they work on her, but never service me. i saw some one come in the door, and they immediately took them back. if they did not want to service me they should have said so. i have neurofibromatois, which is a bunch of moles all over the body. so it's a handcapped. so if you are handcapped they don't service you. they should put a sign on the door saying the don't service people that are different. read more

This nail salon is clean (almost) and for walk-ins there rarely is a wait. When there is a wait they are honest and tell you "20 minutes" rather than just saying "in a few minutes". Today was the manicurist was walking to start my nails and opening the package of tools, the tools fell out and on the floor. I was impressed he went and got a replacement set versus trying to use the set dropped on the floor. My reasons for not giving 5 stars - the bowls and the glass stones they give to soak your fingers in are not cleaned between clients. They just empty the water out. Secondly of the manicurist hurt me when cutting my cuticles. I only get regular manicures. read more

I've tried several different nail techs and none of them have ever ever done my nails properly. I waited 45 minutes on Labor Day because they were the only ones open. I got a pedicure which was mediocre and a cut down and fill in for my nails.... well! Today is Wednesday, how is my nail lifting after two days!!! I also had red polish on prior to my fill in. She didn't even bother to try and get all the red polish off my entire nail and had the audacity to think I was going to allow her to add the fill in on top of the polish she didn't get off ... Over expensive and average work. The pedicures are sloppy, polish left on sides of toes. They rush you for everything, whether they are busy or not. The technicians don't follow directions very well. I came with a picture of how I exactly wanted my nails, it took 3 technicians to "TRY" to get it & failed. I left the shop with a design I didn't want, the worst experience, and paid $90. My technician skipped the paraffin treatment and the neck message that is usually included. Didn't offer a beverage or neck pillow. You pay more for the niceties but they didn't give you it to us. Charged $45 for a 20 minute mani pedi for an 8 year old. Gel manicure very sloppy and didn't put on the required amount of coats to cover my nail line. I am not Sasquatch nor do I have any kind of excess facial hair issue. I'm guessing she was just trying to make a higher sale...but this wasn't the way to go about it. This was my 2nd visit and I guess I will never be going back. The first visit was for SNS dipping system. Not a bad experience. They charged me $45.00. The 2nd visit was terrible. The guy who seated me seamed annoyed that I was Deaf and was very rough with my hands and kept sighing and showing me how annoyed he was I couldn't understand him. Then he ditched me and went to give a new customer a pedicure while leaving me to sit for nearly 20 minutes with my nails wrapped in foil. Another tech came to retrieve me and was equally as rough. I had to say "ow" loudly several times while she was filing my nails because she was much too rough and filing the SKIN! She would act exasperated and show me my finger to ensure I wasn't bleeding, but wtf?! She continued to roughly clean up my cuticles but not carefully because it HURT. Then, after telling her not to shorten my nails, she files off half the length. I left with mishapened nails, and SNS powder all over my fingers. Here's the kicker... first visit was for the same type of manicure and just 2 weeks prior, and they up-charged me $5... $50 dollars! Terrible customer service. This place use to be great with the services & prices. I have been going here for a two years now & now I am starting to have problems with my nails lifting and breaking 4 days after I get a new set. They pick & chose what to charge you. For example one week a full gel set will be 45 and the next time just a fill ends up being 55 it is way over priced and my nails should not be lifting and breaking. I will never return. read more

I'm in the middle of an *amazing* pedicure as we speak. This spot is brand new and sparkly from top to bottom. Equipment is in perfect working order. The massage chair is giving me a desireably vigorous back rub so I'm being extra careful not to spill my red wine on my white top as I type this. I sprung for the Cucumber pedicure which includes a warm herbal neck wrap. It's heavenly. I can't put my finger on what it smells like but it's somewhere between your grandma's house at Christmas (cookies) and heaven. I'm on leg massage number 2 right now and it's indescribably good. Perhaps it's due in part to the fact it's been a while since I've had a good leg and foot rub from a man, but I'm sure you'll love it, and I'd bet the lovely ladies here are just as great at it.
