Roast quarter chicken with side of gravy squash, and roasted potatoes
    Alan C.

I had some food delivered from Modern Rotisserie the quarter chicken with squash and roast potatoes. I also got a side of potato salad and the butternut squash soup. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. Very tasty. The roast potatoes were good as was the squash. The butternut squash soup was amazing delicious. The food comes very well packaged it was a tasty satisfying meal.

Solid spot similar to Boston Chicken. Attached to The New England Soup Factory. Chicken was good and juicy. The side dishes were either solid or better. Service was fast and friendly. Will definitely return.

Another Phantom Gourmet spot I had to try! Modern Rotisserie is a very lively spot because of the bold color schemes. You can grab your food to-go or eat here which I've never tried before. It looks a wee bit tight in the room next door, New England Soup Factory, which they own too. Prime Rib Sandwich- They only served this on Saturday, so of course I grabbed this bad boy and oh my, it was a mountain of meat! This was served with their own au jus dipping sauce. Such an excellent succulent and juicy sandwich. Apple Brined Roasted Chicken- Very tender. Surprisingly it was lacking a little flavor (it may have been too dry) so we ended up dipping it in the au jus. Cheez-It Mac & Cheese- A nice spin on the classic mac & cheese. It's creamy with familiar crunchy topping. Very good. Roasted Brussel Sprouts & Kale- Eck. Too lemony and watery. It definitely did not tasted like it was roasted. Carrots- Same thing! Stop sautéing your vegetables with that lemon sauce. Lemon Pudding- This lush dessert tasted like a sweet lemon meringue pie. Delish. The only thing that should taste lemony! Overall Service: Super friendly folks. I told them I'm going to be traveling with the food for 45 mins so they sealed it up nicely and not a single spill. Thank you guys!

Mango habanero chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac & cheese.

Tried this place after seeing their video on Phantom Gourmet and was pleasantly surprised. Got the half chicken meal with two sides, so I chose the mango habanero chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese. Real homestyle, comfort atmosphere that matches the food being served. Chicken was juicy and tender, mashed potatoes and gravy was very tasty, and the mac & cheese was creamy, fresh and delicious. Only gripes would have to be the price ($16 for this + a can of soda), and my chicken was flooded with the mango habanero sauce, which made it difficult to manage in the tray provided. A little less sauce would have made the meat stand out more as well. Overall a good experience.

Wow cherry chicken / sounds odd but really works

I had the very good fortune to meet Chef and talk with her. Chef's style is to find and make the eclectic- foods you may not consider that work together. We enjoyed a great conversation about food styles, supplies (of food) and so on. They make everything fresh - nothing processed here as near as I can tell. I devoured the black cherry chicken and wanted more! This was one of the most awesome places I have ever eaten and when my travels bring me here again - this is where I'm going!

    Great presentation!

Had a BBQ beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and the sauteed kale brussel sprout mix. Dish served nice and hot. The mashed potatoes and gravy were an excellent flavor. The kale and Brussels had just the right combo of garlic and lemon. The sandwich, however was not so good. I would stick with the chicken next time. I've had the Mac and cheese here which is a favorite of mine but they didn't have any so I chose the other sides! Quite disappointed since i asked for it and he didn't mention that shortly after making my plate they would bring out a fresh pan. I would have waited, so one tip is to ask if there will be more if you don't see what you want available. Upside, Staff very friendly and fast

After seeing this place on phantom gormet this morning we had to go! We were dying for the French dip sandwiches they had advertised as their Saturday special. We were very disappointed to arrive after a 30 minute drive to find out they had run out of said special well before lunch hour. We were informed by the very patient and kind staff member that we should arrive when they opened to enjoy the sandwich. I wish this was advertised. We ordered some of the famous chicken and it was very good. I'd love to go back and try that sandwich but we may choose a closer lunch spot in the future.

Thigh and leg with kale and brussels sprouts and country potato salad.

We were 6 people, bill was around 380..with the tax, tip & recommended 4% for the kitchen staff, another 80 in fees, which kills me after traveling through Europe fairly often. So 440 total. Way to much for one drink each for 5 of us, no drink for the 6th, no bottle of wine, split 1 app 7 olives, no coffee, 2 desserts. Way too pricey. When did 34-38 dollar entrees become the norm ? I would never return for one reason..that 4% tip for the kitchen. Pay your back of the house staff from those $$$$ entrees. Perhaps another idea is to take a % off each $15+ cocktail and pay their kitchen staff with it. I have not seen this done in years..absolutely no where. During the height of Covid, yes. But it faded away rather quickly and left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Also, I'd recommend lighter plates, those poor ladies hauling in those large & heavy dishes is not a good look.

We walked into a spacious, contemporary space with a large bar and plenty of seating, the kind of place that works equally well for watching a game with friends or a relaxed dinner. The interior had a comfortable, polished energy that struck a balance between lively and approachable, and the extensive beer and whiskey selection added to the inviting atmosphere. The menu goes beyond typical bar food with a mix of elevated comfort dishes, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and seasonal entrées. We ordered a few items and found the Chilean sea bass standing out, paired with a flavorful sauce that complemented the fish without overpowering it. The lamb with gnocchi was another popular choice, offering a hearty and well-balanced dish with tender meat and pillowy gnocchi that absorbed the rich sauce. The burgers were cooked to order and made a reliable option for something more casual, arriving juicy and well assembled. For drinks and appetizers, the calamari, burrata, and flatbreads were good options to share, each coming out fresh and well seasoned. The bar program was another highlight, with a wide selection of craft beers, whiskey, and classic cocktails that were well prepared and paired naturally with the food. Service was friendly and welcoming, with staff happy to make recommendations and accommodate different group sizes. While some visits could experience slower service during busy periods, the overall experience tended to be attentive, and the team worked to create a comfortable atmosphere for both families and larger groups. The pacing of the meal stayed steady, and the food came out without much delay. Parking is available in a small lot, though it could fill up during peak dining hours, and the restaurant's location near shopping on Needham Street made it a convenient stop before or after running errands. Overall, District 118 Kitchen & Bar is a solid choice for anyone looking for elevated pub fare in a relaxed setting. The combination of quality food, a strong drink selection, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it equally enjoyable for a casual lunch, dinner with family, or an evening out with friends.

The wood interior, historic décor, and cozy atmosphere gave it the feel of a longtime local favorite without feeling outdated. The dining room had a comfortable, lived-in energy with a layout that accommodated both small groups and larger parties, and the warm lighting and traditional furnishings made it easy to settle in for a casual dinner or drinks with friends. It was the kind of place where the relaxed setting encouraged lingering over a meal rather than rushing through it. The menu focuses on elevated pub classics with several house specialties that are worth ordering. We started with the eggplant fries, one of the signature appetizers, and found them having a light, crispy coating that made them surprisingly addictive. The steak tips were another standout, cooked tender and packed with flavor, and the steak frites were a great choice if you are looking for something more substantial. There were also plenty of comfort food options throughout the menu, including seafood cakes, meatloaf, and seasonal specials that gave us a reason to come back and try something different. The food arrived hot and well assembled, and the portions were generous without being excessive. The service was one of the highlights of our visit. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant had the kind of hospitality that made us feel like regulars even on a first visit. The atmosphere stayed comfortable throughout the meal, making it just as suitable for a family dinner as it is for a casual night out. There is a small parking lot along with some nearby street parking, though it could fill up quickly during busy dinner hours. The staff moved through the room with ease, checking in at the right moments and keeping the pacing of the meal steady without making us feel rushed. Overall, Dunn-Gaherin's Food and Spirits is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that consistently delivers a comfortable atmosphere, friendly service, and well-executed pub food.
