As per usual I had a great experience at Modern Spa. I had an appointment. I had an appointment with Chloe at 1:00 but she was able to see me an hour early. She did an amazing job with my nails and I got a beautiful metallic blue manicure. It wasn't a polish or a powder, but it was a kind of tint that she put on with a plastic applicator. She told me that she could make it last and I think they look great. I'm not surprised that I had a great experience at Modern Spa and Chloe is always the nail tech that I trust the most. She's very talented, quick, efficient, and knowledgeable. I look forward to my next appointment and I'll make sure to call ahead to book an appointment with Chloe.

I've never had my nail look this bad so quickly after getting them done. They looked pretty clunky right after being done- which should have been my first clue. The top coat start chipping days after and this is what they look like 1 week later. I've truly never had my powder gel nails do this before. I also had a strange situation where I had someone from the nail salon two doors down do my nails. I didnt think much of it (thinking same management or something) but now I don't know if this horrible manicure is a reflection of Modern or the girl herself. Needless to say, I definitely won't be back here. Going to have to get them redone somewhere else and much soon than I normally would for powder gel. Not worth the $!

Clean!! The service was great and everything here is spotless. I always come here when I am in NYC for a full body massage and pedicure.

Worst manicure I've ever received! First of all when you book on the website, it says that the manicure is gonna last one hour... kidding me I was in and out in less than 15 minutes!!! The woman rushed so quickly, and she didn't even soak my nails! Which made me bleed. And gave me one coat of polish, and it looks like shit. DON'T COME HERE!!!!!

This review and pics are a week late. Modern Spa has always been my go-to spot, and I've even left a review before. But after my last visit, I just had to share how amazing it was! I finally found my nail artist--Lili! She did an incredible job on both my toes and hands. She was super careful and took the time to go above and beyond what I had asked for. Her creativity and kindness really stood out. From now on, I'll always request her! Overall, Modern Spa is fantastic with their service. It was a super hot day, but the owner and Lili made sure my friend and I were well taken care of, offering us free tea and ice water. Their attention to detail and customer care is just top-notch!

Cannot recommend for dip/SNS. While the service was good, my nails were cracked, scratched, and chipped almost immediately after I left. They gave me a free massage, which was great, but due to the poor quality of the manicure, I will not be going back. Picture shows my nails about 2.5 weeks after manicure.

Update: after reading the reviews I see the same exact manicurist who served me yesterday was rude to another woman. I asked for a nail polish change and was willing to pay full price for the color change. I requested another manicurist because I felt uncomfortable. I spoke with the manager and 15 mins later THIS same exact manicurist approached me with an attitude AND pressed 2 fingers into my upper thigh and asked rudely "you want color change?" I replied I want another manicurist to do it and she walked away. Extremely inappropriate, unprofessional service by this woman. The manager offered for me to come back tomorrow and they will do a free color change. I declined. I'll get serviced else where. Pedi rate 0/10 star. I went out the way for this salon after reading 4 stars but NEVER AGAIN. Pros: I was immediately greeted. The manager up front was kind. I received a complimentary green tea after I asked. Cons: My stylist started off pleasant. I don't know what happened. The regular pedi doesn't include a foot scrub. She seemed irritated with me or it may have been something else. All I can say is the vibe was off. The massage chairs in the way back of the salon look older than the ones up front. It was not a comfortable chair. There were nicer chairs available but I was put all the way in the back of the salon. When I asked the stylist how to turn on the massage, she seemed irritated by my question. I couldn't find the remote. ‍ The shape and polish of my nails, unsatisfactory. Based on reviews this place looks like a hit or miss depending on the stylist. In this economy, I won't be visiting establishments like this. I've had regular mani and pedis at a couple other salons in the area. I'm used to regular pedis that included 5 min foot rub and a good foot scrub. After a long day at work I was really looking forward to this but overall it was just an extremely underwhelming experience. I wouldn't come back or recommend to a friend. Run, friend!

Japanese gel manicure, all nails broken and chipped within a week!

Not even one week of Japanese gel manicure and each nail has already chipped and broken off. The soak off prior to this was rushed and the nail tech did not properly cure each coat before moving on to the next. I felt pressured to tip and I'm just so upset that I wasted so much money on this set. They typically do not provide refunds and instead insist you come back so they can fix it but I'm out of town for several weeks, such a waste. I do not recommend this location. Avoid at all costs.

This gel manicure is less than a week old

I came here on the evening of last Tuesday September 19th for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I arrived at 7:45pm, which was probably too late and my fault. Unfortunately, my manicurist rushed my nails and it shows. I'm posting this review on Tuesday September 26 with photos taken less than a week after. As you can see, my gel manicure has uneven opacity and is flaking off. It has cracks in some areas and is completely peeling. It looks awful. Gel manicures should last at least two weeks!! I can't believe that I spent $70+ 20% tip for such a horrible job. I'm not one to complain, but I'm mad that I wasted my money on such poor service. I will have to go somewhere else to redo it. My pedicure was a similar color. During the pedicure, the manicurist did not wait at all between applying layers. Unfortunately in her rush, my manicurist had me put on my socks and shoes to leave way too soon after. I probably should have spoken up. When I got home, the pedicure was completely ruined. It was squished and the polish had to be redone. I went back a couple of days later and the staffer happily agreed to redo it free of charge. I had it redone on Saturday and paid a small tip regardless. I came here once before for a gel manicure which was good. This time was a disaster. The staff was nice and accommodating enough, but this quality is unacceptable. I would recommend: 1. NOT visiting this salon after 6 to avoid a rush job 2. Wearing flip flops for your pedicure 3. Only using the OPI or CND brands 4. Speaking up during the service, even if it makes you look like a Karen

I got my nails done with a friend on July 4th. Firstly, the original manicure itself was poorly done with corners missing polish. I took pictures right after as I planned on returning to the salon ASAP. Then, the polish started fading shortly after I got them done. I returned to the spa today Sunday 10th and I was told I could not get a refund although they did offer to redo the service or allow me to get another service done. I let them know i could not accept this as I was uncomfortable getting anything else done at this spa. DO NOT GO to this spa if you want well done nails. The store manager also tried to blame me for the faded nails although I have documentation of everything. She also accused me of taking a picture of the wrong color. I have never had an experience like this. As a business, you should be embarrassed to have a customer walk out of your salon with these nails. Shame on you Modern Spa. read more

I paid $85 for this service... Gel X. Should last at LEAST 2 weeks I've been getting gel x on and off for a few years. My nails didn't even last me 4 whole days. The woman in charge had the audacity to ask me to tip my tech more at the end of a rushed full set. Service $85 plus their service fee which adds another $10-13. I tipped my nail tech $7 and the owner looked at me and said that was an expensive service can you tip her more? Well $17 tip later here are my $115 nails. They have amazing reviews so I went to treat myself to some nail art for the holidays. I showed them 2 pictures and asked if they could fade in tortoise? Granted, my nails are short, but they said they could do it. My nails are the first picture, reference photos were the 2nd and third. Truly look nothing alike. I was bummed. I then went back to remove the design & they kindly offered to redo the "marble." She tried which was nice but said my nails were too short. I don't know if marble was just too difficult or how they have so many great design pics. I was really excited but ultimately just went back to a very expensive bill for plain beige. There is still some brown left on my nails which isn't the best, but I felt bad asking for anything else. I'm disappointed. I don't think I'm passed going back but I'd be careful what you ask for. read more

After a little Yelp research, my boyfriend and I went with Modern Spa for our pedicures. It was a Sunday afternoon and it really was not that packed. Everything was very sanitary and the pedicures were great. We went with the milk and honey spa pedicures and they were worth every dollar. My boyfriend said that they gave him new feet; HAAAAA!! The pedicure included massages on each foot for about 15 minutes. Oh, and while my polish was drying up, I got another massage... this time on my shoulders and arms. I took away one star because their nail painting is basic; one of my toes was messed up... BUT I would return for pedicures ONLY. read more

I came here for the first time to get a manicure with my friend for her birthday and I was majorly unimpressed. While the two girls I was with love this place, I was very disappointed with my experience. I got a powder manicure which looks just okay. The manicurist cut my nails unevenly, didn't want to fix the inconsistencies and bumps in my nail length, and didn't clean my cuticles. When I mentioned fixing a couple things, she was initially dismissive. Then, I got a regular manicure with the same person. The water was super cold and when I asked for it to be heated up, she made it more lukewarm. There was basically no soaking period and she did almost nothing that is included in a regular pedicure besides trim and paint. She only added one layer of regular polish for the manicure and then said it was done. Then, when she gave me the bill, she stood over me and watched and mentioned the tip a couple of times. Plus, the pedicure was overpriced for what was essentially a basic paint vs a true pedicure. Needless to say, I have zero intention of coming back, especially on my own. read more

I am blown away! I contacted modern spa at 8:30pm and they got back to me right away and said I could come on in. When I arrived they called me by name and knew what service I was looking for-a dip manicure. They brought over the color selection and oh my goodness! I have never seen so many options! It was refreshing to be able to find exactly the shade I had in mind instead of settling for one close enough. I also know they do incredible nail art which I can't wait to experiment with once my nails grow out! I didn't feel rushed in the least despite me being there very close to closing time. The salon it's self is spotless, very tastefully decorated, spacious, and most importantly clean!! The manicure itself was very impressive. The nail technician took their time and asked me questions for all of my preferences. One thing I really appreciated was that they took the time to cut my cuticles rather than just buzzing them off with the drill which is my usual experience with a dip manicure. The technician was also very friendly and I enjoyed our conversation. I was so impressed I will be going back for a pedicure today! Definitely found my go to place for nails. A+. read more

My gf and I came here to get a gel mani and pedi and the overall experience was okay until I saw the final result and it was time to pay. The tips of my nails were all crooked and ugly. My nail technician quickly went to the cash register and walked back with the bill. She also barely scrubbed my feet or took the time to paint my nails. She did everything so quick that there are spots that are missing nail polish. When it was time to pay, she saw how much tip I put on the receipt and she was not happy. She walked back and pointed to the suggest tip amount of 18% and forced me to tip that amount. She definitely did not deserve any tip at all for the way that my nails look and also the experience. I definitely would not be coming back here.... read more

This place does a terrible work . I usually get my gel pedicure done in Brooklyn and it always lasts a long time . In one week the nail polish was coming off . I came back to fix it and the person was kinda complaining and didn't explain what she meant to say to me . Really confusing . I felt I was doing something wrong . She paint the gel again and color and said for me to wait 15 min . Didn't tell me to dry at the uv machine . She disappeared and I had to move and walk to the machine to make sure it would dry properly, without ruining my nails . After a week the nails got ruined again . Never coming back ! Not worth the time and money . It's tempting because it's looks cheaper than other places . But please stay away ! read more

I'm back and got another review for U! . it took a lot cuz I Had a big ole bachelors party (TRUBLE!! ) . luckily I Googled, "relaxed but also chill vibes" the next day & this spot popped up. Not gonna lie, never gotten a pedicure before but this pic made me feel like it was like okkkkkk okkkkk this could be a cool!! Any place that allows my red solo cup. Ummmm. Sign me uppp plz SIR!! The pedicure was phenom but the bathrooms... were OUT. Of. This. World!!! For those just tuning in.. to life?!? Idk lololol bachelor parties are always a leeeeel tasking on the ole tum tum (just think lots of the te-kill-ya & nachos flowing) so having a bathroom with relaxing spa music & warm towels makes umm LIFE CHANGING!! I can't lie they do a good job here with the nails. However, unless you are really trying to spend an arm and a leg, I wouldn't recommend this place. There's far better cheaper options out there that do just as good and don't charge this much. Also the lady who did my daughters nails seemed very upset with a $10 tip. Mind you, her nails alone were $110, yet she kept showing me the recommended tip amount of 18% and up! And I told her I'll just do $10, and she took it and walked off upset , didn't even say thank you, nothing she just stormed off upset. Like wow that was very rude and made me feel uncomfortable and for that I wouldn't ever come here again nor recommend this place. read more

I came here for my wedding manicure. I had called for an appointment for a gel manicure, and when I arrived I mentioned again a gel manicure. I waited for more than half an hour before my service actually started, and my nail tech brought out the dip powder. I mentioned again I had wanted gel and not dip, but my tech assured me it would look nice and not too thick. My nails came out looking chunky and I was so frustrated with myself for not standing my ground and saying no to dip, hence the two stars. It was very obvious that the nail techs were talking about us, which only made me more uncomfortable speaking up. I will be going elsewhere to receive the service I originally wanted. read more

I've never been rushed through a pedicure so roughly. My standard pedicure was approx 18 mins. They went through all the steps but everything was handled so abruptly. Not only that but they filed my toes into a straight horizontal line, no curve to the edges or anything. My second toenail was filed into a diagonal line. After tax $32.68. Not worth it. Jenny began meticulously working on cleaning my cuticles and sizing me up for the tips. I don't know what they look for, but she definitely worked through the different size options, and even re-applied one of the tips bc she noticed something was off. Honestly, I don't think I have have noticed but I do appreciate her attention to detail, she obviously cares about her craft. So 7 pm rolls around, the 3 other customers that were still there and had wrapped up their nail sessions. Julie, the other nail tech offers to finish up my polish design to let Jenny go home to her kids. I'm definitely feeling bad for keeping them past closing, and I am secretly hoping they rush through the polish so they can leave. NOPE! Julie takes her time on my design, and finishes up with a nice neck and hand massage, warm towel, and we all finally close up at 830. I am super grateful they continued to dedicate time to my service, while not sacrificing quality. Left a fat tip since I know Jenny and Julie will be splitting. She then got up and told me that another woman was coming after she ate her lunch for 5 mins. The other nail tech came and looked confused nearly the whole time. First she obviously didn't know what I wanted to do with my nails - the previous woman came up and told her something. Then I showed her a picture. She started putting the gel x on and I thought ok it'll be fine. But once we were at applying the French tip she made it so thin I had to keep telling her to make it bigger and where the line should go. Almost like she never did this before. I gave up and I was already so late to leave to pick up my son from daycare I paid and ran out the door. I looked at my nails closer and realized even the sizing of the gel x was not right. My nails looked like fake doll nails. They were bumpy too. I had to get in to a nail place close to home to have them fix it which of course the only way was to change the color entirely and try to shape them as best as they can without damaging my nails. Don't go here. I been to other locations and they are not much better but definitely don't go here. In general what you see on social media from QQ is only a couple of good nail techs work. I have been to 3 locations now and all were not very clean, rushed and frantic service, and now just a horrible nail job. I also want my $120 back you can keep the tip.

They told me $70.20, and no one mentioned that the price could be higher. During the appointment, it became clear that they didn't know how to remove my previous gel properly. It wasn't a "different type of gel" -- they just didn't know how to do it correctly. Instead of properly filing it off with the machine, they only removed the color layer. Then they wrapped my nails in foil and left me sitting there while the nail technician did a full pedicure for another client, without saying a word to me. I was just waiting the entire time. When she finally came back, she seemed surprised that the gel was still there -- and only then started removing it with the machine. She never explained anything to me, and I felt very uncomfortable because they were clearly experimenting on my nails. In any professional salon, hard gel is removed completely with a machine -- not like this. At the end, they told me the total was $164. I was shocked. They said it was because of a "different gel" and a "different service," which wasn't true -- I had told them in advance that it was hard gel. If they had informed me that the price would be higher, I would have decided whether to continue or not. When I calmly explained that no one mentioned this, they refused to listen. Then, when I asked to speak with the employer (the boss/owner) who wasn't there at the time, she got on the phone and spoke very rudely, claiming the nail master had told me about the higher cost -- which was a complete lie. The worst part is that they both started threatening to call the cops, even though I was polite and honest the entire time. I ended up paying with my foreign card, using my last money, but the way they treated me was absolutely unacceptable. While I was talking to the employer, the nail master stood there chewing gum and didn't even look at me. It was clear they were covering for each other. She never told me about any extra charge. I left the salon very upset and disappointed. I believe honesty, professionalism, and communication are the most important parts of good service -- unfortunately, I didn't experience any of that here. How can professional staff, instead of listening or offering any solution, threaten me by saying, "We will call the cops! We will call the cops!!!"? I've been doing my nails regularly for five years, and I've never had such awful quality and service. They didn't know how to remove the gel properly and then put all their mistakes, my waiting time, and the extra costs on me and my pocket. To make things worse, the final work was low quality -- on my pinky finger, they added Gel-X and didn't even file or shorten it. It's longer than my other nails and hurts

DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!! The staff/management is rude, dishonest and they take no responsibility, blaming everything on their customers. Go elsewhere!!!! I was in for a manicure/pedicure last night, very much looking forward to relaxing. After saying hi to my pedicurist (Susan?), I laid back and tried to relax. I looked down as she was rubbing cream and squirting oil on my legs from a bottle and saw that a stream of oil from the bottle conveniently made its way onto my handbag ($145 Longchamp + tax). She didn't say anything, so I did. I pointed at my bag and asked her what happened and she said oil from bottle squirted on the bag. She apologized and then attempted to put it under water and I asked her not to as all of my stuff was inside!! So she and an extremely rude manager in a yellow sweater abruptly came up to me with a plastic bag and told me to empty everything out of my bag and into the plastic bag. I told them that it's not going to come out as it's oil and it needs to be replaced. Manager insisted and I told her that it's leather and cannot be submerged in water - she promised she would blotch it by hand and still proceeded to throw it in the washing machine (after telling me that she would hand wash it, followed by dryer... which I asked her not to!!!). She came out with my bag that not only still had oil stains, but now water damage due to the cleaning. She claimed that all of that was there before. Even after she heard her employee admit to doing the oil stain and telling me that if it didn't come out the employee would have to pay for it (which was super awkward in itself, but if that's how they want to manage their employees go for it). Fast forward 15 minutes. I asked my husband via text to come help me as I felt like I was going crazy, after I told her that she needs to replace it and she laughed at me and told me that there's no way it's $145 and that it's not brand new so it's not worth that much either way. Oh, and she walked away from me mid-convo to help other people bc she didn't want to talk to me anymore. 15-20 mins later, my husband shows up -- he calmly asks to speak to manager. Manager is working with customer and tells him he needs to wait. He waits 10 minutes. She LIES and tells him that the oil is on the bag because I brushed my leg up against it. That is not true and she knew it. I told her that she was lying, that she knew the pedicurist did it and she rescinded comment and said there's nothing she will do. At this point multiple staff come up and surround us, speaking in Chinese and then telling us in English that the value of the bag is less than what we paid for because it's not new and they won't pay for it. NOT MY PROBLEM. Their employee ruined it. And now it's soaking wet and has water damage because manager ruined it. Then another manager named Michelle (who is the moderator of their Yelp page, so she'll probably try to refute all of this) says that we should have compassion because the money would come from the paycheck of the girl who did it and we told them that that's between them and the girl and not our problem. It's their business and if that's how they want to run it, fine with us. They offer us to dry clean bag, which should have been done BEFORE she ruined it in the wash. Which again, I asked her not to. We proceeded to ask for money for the bag. They continue to gather and speak in Chinese and then disperse and ignore us. So we again ask if we can talk to one person. Manager ignores us. Then someone says they're calling the cops!! For what?? They ruined the bag. They were yelling at us (when they weren't ignoring us) and completely making up lies. We felt ganged up upon, unsafe and in an alternate universe. Since we had no interest in having them tell a completely fake story to the cops and felt threatened, we decided to leave. We also had no time to deal with this, as we did nothing wrong and given that they were speaking in Chinese in front of us together (basically in a huddle) we knew they were going to tell a lie and all support each other to the cop. Instead, my husband calmly told the manager that we are leaving and will be suing them in small claims court for the cost of the bag. She asked us not to. We walked out. DO NOT COME HERE. This place is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! I would have rated this place as ZERO Stars if possible. I've never seen a ruder business than this one. They treat their customers like garbage, lie constantly, are aggressive, dishonest and terrible in every way. Let me explain - this place spilled oil all over my wife's new purse and what transpired afterwards was awful and disgusting. FIRST - they took the purse against her will, proceeded to try an clean it themselves in a washer/dryer despite her requests not to, which only ruined the purse even more. Everyone knows that you shouldn't try to clean or treat an oil stain yourselves and should never put an expensive purse in a DRYING MACHINE. Afterwards - they called my wife a LIAR and claimed that it was already damaged before she came in. They proceeded to ATTACK her and then IGNORE her to the point that I had to go to help her. Upon my arrival - they immediately LIED TO ME, called my wife a LIAR and attacked me in front of their other customers. I tried my best to be polite and request that they reimburse us for the ruined purse but they were MEAN, AGGRESSIVE and DISGUSTING in the way they spoke to us. We spent an hour trying to reason with us and during that time - they 1. IGNORED US WHILE WE STOOD THERE 2. TALKED POORLY ABOUT US in another language 3. LAUGHED at us and 4) GANGED up on us to attacked us. It was HOSTILE to say the least - easily the WORST we've ever been treated by a small business. They're behavior and approach was DISGUSTING - they eventually called the cops on us EVEN THOUGH NO ONE BROKE ANY LAWS. They're delusional and insane to deal with. I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT NO ONE VISITS THIS BUSINESS as they treat people terribly and don't deserve the business. I was recommended by my friend to get my nails done with Kiki. My friend was telling me that the environment is relaxing, friendly, and clean and I had to try it. I made an appointment with Kiki for a manicure and pedicure with back massage. Scheduling the appointment was easy, and when I got there I was taken care of right away. They have a variety of nail polish brands and new colors to choose from. Kiki was very pleasant. She was very gentle with my mani and pedi. I have sensitive cuticles and she manage to clean my cuticles without cutting me. I really appreciate that because I almost always get cut. The color was applied neatly and it's been 1 week and my manicure still looks fresh. The massage was also amazing. She really got into the right areas. Was looking for places that were covid safe and found them online. Cant be too careful now. My girl's name was Sue and although I originally went in for just a gel manicure, she recommended the powder gel cause it lasted longer and boy did it! Ive had it done before elsewhere and didn't last as long, maybe it was her or the product (they have SNS and another brand I don't remember), but it worked! Its been 3 weeks now and the only thing is that its grown out so I gotta get it redone. They have SO MANY COLORS!!! Took me forever to pick which one and you get a little confused.... It's truly disheartening when an experience that's meant to be enjoyable and relaxing turns into an embarrassing situation. I recently visited a nail salon, which I believe is owned by an older lady. I was taken aback when, in front of other customers, she demanded payment in cash, even though I had intended to pay by credit card. This public confrontation left me feeling incredibly embarrassed and uncomfortable. As a customer, I value respectful and professional interactions, especially in a service-oriented setting like a nail salon. "Modern Spa is the BEST salon. I have been a regular client at Bonnie's Nails (same owner, Michelle, super nice) for many years. Then Modern Spa opened this year & it's a much nicer ambience (much more spa-like). They are conveniently located on West 72nd St. & they are open late which is great (10pm). They never turn down a customer. I have closed the place many times. I get regular mani/pedis & massages but they offer a full menu of spa services. I like all the people who work there & it's a very comfortable friendly environment. And very relaxing!! I come at least once a week, if not more! I highly recommend Modern Spa!" read more

Book an appointment with Coco now! She's fantastic... a professional and patient perfectionist, and definitely the reason why I'm giving this place 5 stars. She's the kind of technician that makes you feel all generous when it comes to tipping (on top of the already significant UWS price...not gonna lie). My nails look great (Coco suggested the color) and I feel like I got all of the pampering that I wanted from a spa experience. I'm honestly surprised this place has such good reviews. This is by far the worst manicure I've ever gotten in NYC! My biggest issue with this place is that they didn't bother to soak my cuticles in water or put gloves on my hands so that my cuticles would soften up. My technician just sprayed some water, barely pushed them Back and then proceeded to cut my cuticles and buffer them so aggressively that I was bleeding! She also put so much polish on my nails that the nail polish smudged right after my manicure even though I waited 20mins under the dryer. read more

And today, I got a chair massage and reflexology massage from Leo. It was the BEST massage I've ever had! He has the strongest hands Ive ever felt! Aside from being a little pushy about leaving a review, it was a decent manicure. Nice place, tons of choices. $12+ tax for a regular manicure, without tip. Within a day, my manicure chipped/smudged, which was disappointing considering I had sat drying my nails for well over 20 minutes! Young worked on my nails and I was discouraged by many reviews on Yelp that said he wasn't up to par, but it could have been worse. I'm still on the search for the perfect nail salon. read more

I get the most complicated designs and have done acrylics , gel manicures, and have even added gems to my nails and no matter what I get she always does an incredible job ! Definitely one of the best nail salon in Manhattan... and there are many to choose from. people are nice and friendly, and the manicures/pedicures seem to last longer than a lot of other places. It is reasonably priced, clean, and offers the best manicures and pedicures. The warm lotion technique leaves your extremely relaxed. Typically, the dip powers last a very solid amount of time (3 weeks) and grow out strong, healthy and full of life. I would not recommend this salon--and I especially would not recommend Laurie. Laurie is incredibly rude and dismissive the second you ask a question or give feedback about the nails YOU are paying for. I overlooked it several times because I liked the salon and other techs, but my final straw was my WEDDING nails. I specifically asked for a white/ivory shimmer and clarified that I did not want anything pink because Laurie had previously given me a pink base after we discussed white nails. When I questioned the color this time, she showed me the actual powder--and it was PINK, despite the sample looking white/ivory. When I asked what we could do to get closer to the color I actually requested, she literally shrugged and said, "Nothing." I asked if we could at least test one nail. Instead of trying to help, she continued being rude, dismissive, and argumentative. This wasn't an isolated incident. In previous appointments, she's rolled her eyes when I politely pointed out an issue with a nail, refused a simple design even though we ended up having plenty of appointment time left, and disregarded a color request I had explicitly discussed with her. After I finally told her that if she was going to continue being rude, someone else could do my nails, she REFUSED TO FINISH REMOVING THEM. Another technician had to finish taking them off. The receptionist was equally unhelpful and somehow claimed she didn't know how to contact the manager OR when the manager would be available. Four years as a customer, and this is how I was treated while trying to get my WEDDING nails done. Laurie's customer service is atrocious, and the salon's handling of the situation was just as bad. There are far too many nail salons to spend your money somewhere that treats paying customers like they're an inconvenience. I will never be back, and I absolutely would not recommend this salon or Laurie.

Before my appointment, I called and asked if it was possible to come earlier. Instead, I was told that THEY were running behind and wanted me to come later than my confirmed appointment time. When I said I would simply arrive at my originally scheduled time, the front desk employee suddenly told me to CANCEL my appointment -- approximately ONE HOUR before it was scheduled. I was honestly shocked by the way I was spoken to, so I went to the salon and asked to speak with the owner/director. The same employee involved in the situation refused to let me speak with anyone above her. And this is where it became absolutely absurd. Afterward, I started receiving long, legal-sounding messages signed "Celebrity Nails Studio Management," accusing me of "threatening" behavior and warning me about legal action -- despite the fact that I never threatened anyone. Based on the conversation and circumstances, it appeared to me that these "management" messages were coming from the same person I had just had the issue with, rather than from an independent owner/director. When I had specifically asked to speak with the actual owner/director in person, I was not given that opportunity. So instead of a manager simply addressing a customer-service complaint, my first appointment ended with the salon canceling on me, refusing access to higher management, and then sending me intimidating legal-style messages. I never even made it to the manicure. An unbelievably bizarre and unprofessional experience from beginning to end. If this is how a brand-new client is treated before they even sit down for a service, that tells me everything I need to know. I would absolutely not recommend this salon based on my experience.
