Besides being rude, they don't do what you request. We brought in our truck to have the tires rotated, we left it there for hours, picked it up and they claimed they were done. Nope...we marked the tires beforehand and they were exactly the same. Been here a few times for tire installation and one time was totally off balance. Thought we'd give it a second try. Modern Tire and auto service. Stay away. Can't even do an oil change without the oil filter leaking. Then the rude manager denies it's leaking. I had to bring the car to my Nissan dealer to have the problem corrected. I did a full review but Yelp would not accept. It exceeded 5,000 letters. read more

I had a broken lug nut that I could not get off. I asked them if they could do it and was told yes. They called back and told me it might ruin the wheel to get it off and told me a new wheel was 280 dollars. I told them I could get a wheel cheaper and I told them I would order it and bring it to them. The next day the wheel came in and I brought it to them at 1PM the next day. They told me they would try to get it done that afternoon. I did not receive a call that day that my issue was solved or even worked on that day. The next day I thought they would get me in first thing in the morning and try to help me because I had told them that I needed to do a brake job on my daughters car before she left for vacation and that rain was expected the next couple of days and I would be working on the brakes in my driveway and I needed the broken lug nut removed so I could do that. After dropping off the new wheel the day before I stopped at the shop the 3rd day at 10 in the morning to see if the car was being worked on and the wheel was still on the floor where I left it the day before and I asked when my work was going to be done and was told that they would bring it in next. Five hours later at 3PM I called to see if the work was done and was told the car had not been worked on yet and that they would be bringing it in next. I told them I needed the car done today so I could get the brake job done for my daughter before the rain. I called again for an update at 4PM and was told the car was finally being worked on. At 4:30 they called me and said the car was done. I went to pick the car up and they told me it would cost about $300 dollars for 1 hour labor and new lug nuts that they were charging me $10 dollars a piece for the lug nuts and $180 dollars for labor. i was extremely unhappy with the price and told them based on the time I called them and the time they called back to say it was done that it did not take them an hour for labor and that cheap lug nuts cost 7 dollars for 5 at the auto parts store and the solid lug nuts cost $3.64 apiece at the parts store and they put on the cheap ones and wanted to charge me $10 dollar a piece for them. Totally unacceptable! I told them that charging me close to $300 dollars to get a broken lug nut off my car was too much. I told them I thought they were going to help me, not rape me. They did deduct some money off the lug nuts but I believe I was lied to about them getting my car in when they promised and that they overcharged me for the labor. I still wound up paying $229 dollars to have a broken lug nut removed from my wheel. Needless to say, I will not be taking my cars to be worked on at Modern Tire again and i will not be recommending them to any one I know to have their cars worked on there as well. i wish there was something at least one good I could say about my experience but there isn't. All I have to say is wow! They will know exactly who is writing this review as my issue was very rare. I made an appointment at Modern for 12:30 on a Friday. When I arrived they had no record of the appointment, surprise, surprise. When I walked in, I stated exactly what needed to be done to my car, as I did when I made the appointment. Instead of doing what they were told to do, they thought they knew everything and completed ignored my request to remove the drivers seat to retrieve a tool that was under the carpet. After an hour and a half of being there, they come to me and say, "we couldn't locate or retrieve the tool". I asked why they didn't remove the seat and was told "they wouldn't do it". No explanation, just no. Couldn't believe it. Not only will I never set foot in there again, but I would suggest you look for a more reputable place than this. I'd give 0 stars if I could. read more

Auto Repair Warning!!! Don't use Modern Tire on West Main Street, Cheshire. I brought my car there for front brake work. I was charged over $700. Soon afterwards the front brakes began to sqeak loudly after driving for about two hours. I drive medicaid and disabled patients to their medical appointments. My regular mechanic advised for me to return my car to Modern Tire as he showed me that the rotor was "scored " and there was a "lip" on the rotor. I have a picture of this. My mechanic further explained that the brake job was not done properly and would need to be done again. I returned to Modern Tire and manager, Brandon told me that he would need to view the brake job. I wanted my money refunded. After having my vehicle for another day, he informed me that there was nothing wrong with the front brakes! They would do nothing. So, I am out over $700. and will to have the job redone at my expense. A woman and a senior....clearly been taken advantage of! I am reporting this to the DMV and several other agencies. After posting this information on the local sites, I have had over 100 people reach out to me sharing similar stories regarding poor treatment from Modern Tire as well as providing me with very helpful advice and support. I called three day's before I went there. The man I talked to told me to bring my vehicle in on Thursday and they wou0ld look at on Friday and let me know why 0the Check Engine light was on. I went there on Thursday and the two men working claimed not to know anything but again said to leave it and they would look at it morning. Because I didn't have a ride home then I got up at 4:OOam and brought my vehicle to them. I went there at 1:15pm and my tr0u0ck hadn't moved and I was told they probably wouldn't get to it. I removed my vehicle and will go elsewhere. I explained to them I was traveling and was going to head back to Florida by the end of next week. (didn't care). I gone here on multiple occasions, never had a problem, never been overcharged. When they find a problem with my car, the service manager/supervisor always offers to show me what the issue is and they never do that "thing" other shops do where they fix something and then surprise you with the bill. They work quickly, the prices are fair, and they do a good job. I've given them all my business since I've moved to CT and I send my friends and family their way whenever it comes up. read more

Let me first start by saying I created a yelp account solely to write positive reviews of restaurants I visited. With that said, I can't resist my urge to write about how disappointed I have been with modern tire. First, when I had my new winter tires and wheels installed I was overcharged by more than $200.00, after about a week of calling to talk about this, they finally admitted that it was a "mistake." I took them at their word with this and was happy to be refunded. Then, the other day, I made the switch from my winter wheel/tire set to my summer set and noticed that on my summer wheels, which they mounted the tires on, there is a chip from the mounting process. This really bothers me. This place is supposed to specialize in tire work and they can't even mount a set without chipping a wheel. Needless to say, this place has lost my business. They can keep the free oil changes they gave me when I purchased my tires through them! I also recommend saving your money and sadly your wheels and not go to them either! read more

This place has turned itself around! I was going to find another service provider after having some problems in the past but since Larry has been there, the place is fantastic! Larry and his team went above and beyond to fit me in to have my snow tires put on. They were super busy with the snow forecasted for tomorrow and I had to wait a while but I didn't care because they were helping me out. It was after closing time by the time they were done and when I asked if they had a minute to schedule my oil change. Larry said he'd do it right then! Why wait he said, you're already here! For starters they over charge you unnecessarily and flag issues that don't exist, for example, they charged me $1,000 to change my break pads and change the oil on a 2013 chevy Silverado, which after there fact, would have cost me 450$ at other shops (quoted). Not only were they incredibly expensive, but when I asked them to do a tire rotation while the tires were already off, they actually charged me extra!!!! The biggest issue I have had with them is that when my mothers car was brought in for a tire change they ended up dropping it off the lift!!! The car suffered moderate damage on the front left quarter of the cars frame, right under the drivers side door...not only did they drop the car, but hey tried to let it go unnoticed until I saw the bend in the frame, to which they admitted a month later. They offered to pay for the repairs in the end after a big argument and their bullshitting. These people are extremely un-proffesional and sneaky.
