Fun distillery to go to. The whiskey is very delicious and they make very good cocktails. I'll definitely return there soon.

I want to start off by saying that my experience with staff during my visits has always, ALWAYS been great. From the very first time I walked in and sat at the bar with my friend, every bartender has been great, friendly, engaging, very much excited to talk about the products, excellent drinks. Terrific. I liked it so much that I wanted to throw an event there and this is where my experience turns left. I emailed the events coordinator, no response. We actually went back and spoke with staff and they said they'd also try to send an e-mail. Nothing. When the events manager said it would require paying for the entire space and quoted me an astronomical number which obviously I didn't even entertain. Fast forward to that day and I brought some people there for cocktails anyway. There were like 6 people-I was quoted like 7500 to close out the room. I doubt they made 7500 that day, and now it makes sense that they've been 'temporarily closed' for a few months.

It's definitely a destination, in the sense that you're not going to just stumble across it on your next walk. I happen to love this vibe. The crowd skews a bit older, despite the fact that cocktails range from $8 - 10. When I went, it was chill, and a big country band was out jamming on the gazebo. There's also a smaller stage indoors. They brew/distill everything on sight and I've been told there are sporadic tours, which I really want in on. Hopefully those start up again soon! I know I'll be back for a bottle of whiskey, regardless.

They have 2 rooms with a lot of seating, and an outdoor stage where the band was performing. I really enjoyed the band, and they drew a good sized crowd. I enjoyed my drinks. I forgot to take a picture of the last one, the Mango Volcano, made with chipotle rum, and it was my favorite. The drinks are well made and reasonably priced which I loved. Everyone at the bar was very friendly. I do wish there had been a little more outdoor seating, but it looked like they were repairing some of their picnic tables. The location and band made for a fun Friday night. Link to the band's website: http://www.bookthecovers.com

Both are quite drinkable neat. But we also had fun making old fashioneds with both, as well. At just $45 a bottle, it's a heck of a deal. So much better than most is the $50 to $80 whiskeys we buy. Plus, as an added bonus, the Kooper family is very hospitable, informative, fun to hang out with at the bar, and they offer nice tastings at a great price ($16 for three pours), which allows you to determine which bottle is your favorite. You can't get that experience or that level of service at any liquor store! If you find yourself within an hour of this place, you need to visit! While you're in town, checkout the big antique store in Giddiness and have lunch or dinner at Los Patrones. Giddings will soon become one of your favorite towns.

Unfortunately, the bartender who sold me the bottle failed to note my purchase or communicate it to the other staff. When I later picked up the bottle and informed a different bartender that it had already been purchased, he took the bottle from me and refused to verify the transaction, even after I showed proof of payment from my bank account and asked him to look up the purchase by amount and time. Only after the original bartender was located and confirmed the sale was I allowed to leave with my bottle. The entire situation was embarrassing and completely diminished what should have been a great experience. I have a whiskey review channel and have been a devoted fan of Still Austin. A brand is defined not only by its products but also by how it trains its employees to treat customers. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of that standard.

This is in the downtown area and it was a nice stroll from where we parked. We saw on Yelp that this place had a very good overall score average so we definitely made a point to get there. I do love Moscow Mules anyway but the fact that they had a small menu of different ones was great to see! This drink Steve and I shared and we both enjoyed it immensely. The owners, a friendly husband-and-wife team, are wonderful to meet and greet you with a warm welcome. The whiskey experience here is pure Texas style, with a fantastic selection of house-made options. You can't go wrong trying any of their offerings. They also provide samples if you want to explore their variety before committing. The menu features classic bar food, including hamburgers and pizza--simple but satisfying. While I was there, they didn't have live entertainment, but they do regularly advertise performances on their Facebook page. In fact, they mentioned there would be live entertainment later that evening at 6 p.m., which was a bit of a disappointment since I couldn't stay. Their food is all made in house and very delicious!! I had the Texas Ranch Style burger with fries. The burger was very flavorful and I am glad I added jalapeños. In addition to whiskey, they also brew their own beer, which I didn't get a chance to try but will definitely check out on my next visit. They even offer tours upon request, depending on availability, which adds another layer of fun to the experience. They also sell meat products here. Banned for many years in the US and parts of Europe, small batch distilleries have been popping up in the US since 2007. The anise flavor is quite strong and it's recommended you cut it with water. I've heard sugar cubes are common as well. Other in house offerings include an Elderflower and Jasmine Liqueur. Girlfriend and I's personal favorite was the Jasmine and we took home a bottle to pair up with other local spirits. A top notch experience from start to finish.
