I've been to Fierce Whiskers a few times so obviously I thought pretty highly of it and so I held off on writing this review because I kept vacillating on my overall experience. I want to start off by saying that my experience with staff during my visits has always, ALWAYS been great. From the very first time I walked in and sat at the bar with my friend, every bartender has been great, friendly, engaging, very much excited to talk about the products, excellent drinks. Terrific. I liked it so much that I wanted to throw an event there and this is where my experience turns left. I emailed the events coordinator, no response. We actually went back and spoke with staff and they said they'd also try to send an e-mail. Nothing. When the events manager said it would require paying for the entire space and quoted me an astronomical number which obviously I didn't even entertain. Fast forward to that day and I brought some people there for cocktails anyway. There were like 6 people-I was quoted like 7500 to close out the room. I doubt they made 7500 that day, and now it makes sense that they've been 'temporarily closed' for a few months. read more

Doing Texas Whiskey so while in the Austin area had to try Fierce Whiskers Distillery. Dropped by on a Sunday afternoon. It was nice as the place was not too crowded. We were welcomed as we walked up to the we looked at the menu and ordered a flight of their whisky to try. The place is new, beautiful and has lots of coolness to itself. The whisky was nice but I have to be honest I have had better. Go give it a try as Texas Whisky is growing. They have great tables outside with fans and on the Sunday I went there were 3 food trucks. This distillery was a hidden surprise behind an industrial area. Plenty of parking, but beyond the distillery we noticed a lovely green space. In this space , we spotted a few food trucks and a beautiful green frisbee golf course. Inside- lots of people in parties/groups happily chatting away, drinks in hand. Cool seating areas and decor. Ordered an old fashioned, but was little disappointed that no bitters or syrup were added. Super cute distillery close to the city! Fierce Whiskers has a great lawn area to hang out, it's dog friendly and there's blankets to get more comfortable. The inside space is decorated so nicely, and the bartenders are really helpful when choosing a cocktail. They make all of the different spirits in house and the drinks run from $10 to $14. We tried the Take Two $11 and The New Austin $14. Of the two I really like the taste of The New Austin cocktail. The Take Two was basically similar to a pain killer drink. I absolutely love this place and am sad I didn't get a chance to spend more time here during my time in Austin. My friend Kevin is very fond of this place and is the one who introduced me to it. We came here one evening, hungry for some good food and a good glass of whiskey. They have a food truck which serves up some delicious Asian fusion skewers. I love the garlic rice that come with the dishes! We then went inside to have some whiskey. The bar gives off that mature bachelor vibe but also kind of feels like one of your lowkey rich friends' living room. Lol at least that's how I'd describe it! The drinks were great, bartenders are friendly... just good vibes all around! In April, they had their first bottle release party and we attended. What a fun event! We got to eat some really amazing bbq, drink some crafty cocktails, and really just have a good time! We met one of the owners who was super chill and down to earth. Neat little distillery south of Austin downtown. Their bourbon has a fragrance of maple syrup to me. The finish is pleasant and rewarding. Come in and do their offerings in a flight. What a hidden gem in East Austin! Came here last weekend with some friends to enjoy some great cocktails with the lovely spring weather and Fierce Whiskers delivered on both. The overall distillery is in a pretty large area with plenty of seating options from outdoor to patio to inside the tasting room. The menu offers classic cocktails such as the old fashioned with new favorites like the el Diablo. They also offer rum, gin & non alcoholic drinks so there's something for everyone. What stood out to me most was the distillery offered plenty of events to make it more of an experience such as tours and tasting classes as well as cocktail dinner events and live music. Super glad we visited this distillery. They have whiskey, gin, and agave specialty cocktails and offer tours a few times a day. They also have a food truck on site and a pumpkin patch in the fall. We visited on a beautiful day and all of the employees were so nice and gave great recommendations. Anything opening up in South Austin is exciting because we have such few options. But this place was a huge disappointment. The bartenders were chatting away and not interested in preparing drinks. They'd lose their place in reading the recipe - yes, reading it - while chit chatting amongst themselves. Took 15 minutes to get 2 cocktails. One was way too sugary and the other was just a big glass of ice. Seating and tables were really dirty - there's no service, you have to bus your own tables. Most of the positive reviews are for the tour. The Tasting Room experience was subpar. read more

Absolutely wonderful and magical place! We arrived around 5:45 after braving Austin traffic, which forced us to skip dinner. When we arrived we were over the moon to see two families of trucks on the property... highly recommend you try them out. The tour was expertly conduced by Colin. It include every step of the process from grain to mash to distilling and removing all but the alcoholic drink. Rick house smells like heaven. Every barrel laid out, including the first. What a hidden surprise this was! Honestly can't go wrong with any drink from here, they've got a great cocktail menu that has all different flavors and is sooo refreshing especially sitting outside on any of their benches where you get a beautiful view of the property. Great sunsets and so wide open, perfect for doggy dates or enjoying the summer sun. We happened to have came on a trivia night which was so fun with our friends, and we each got 3-5 drinks each because they were so freaking good! We were here for hours and still enjoyed the time as it passed. Love the interior just as much as the outside. Really great decor and cute seating areas. They've got food trucks on site as well for any hungry customers, it's away from the city and the noise. If you can, then I suggest the tour! Sophie is very knowledgeable and personable. They just opened in October but this is already one of my fave distilleries ever. The drinks (they have cocktails) are fantastic and creative. They specialize in whiskey and rye. I suggest their bourbon. They also make gin, rum, and agave spirit (tequila basically). What a gem of a place! I go down the street to Meanwhile all the time, but had no idea this place even existed. Fierce Whiskers excited me as a whiskey fan, but I do like that they have options with rum, agave, gin and other spirits. There is definitely a lot of potential for this space, it is so cute, however they've only been open for 6 months, so they still have room to grow, they don't have much seating outside, and it would be nice to have some music, or yard games, or something to do as you're enjoying a craft cocktail. Hence the lack of star to only 4 stars. I had the Gold Rush for my drink, a whiskey, honey, lemon concoction. That being said, I was here for a happy hour with an organization I am in, and we had a great time. We spread out in the lawn area and everyone had a great time. They also have a delicious food truck on site: Char ATX. More on that in my next review where I'll be talking about the food I got there. Definitely a cute date spot, catching up with friends, but wouldn't say it's great for families or a large group really. I hope that they continue to add on to the space and grow to utilize the space more. I'll be back for sure. read more

I can't believe it's taking me so long to check this place out... I always saw the sign but never made it over. It's a beautiful spot! I love the indoor decor, but the outdoors is where it's at. So much open space, tables, live music, and a few food trucks. Drinks are on the pricier side, but that's Austin now. I wasn't super impressed with my old fashioned--I don't think the guy cleaned the spoon, and it had a tequila taste to it from the previous drinks he had made. Very nice distillery sitting on a large piece of land. Kid and dog friendly.There were outside games like corn hole along with picnic tables and food trucks. We did a tour for $15. We were able to try the whiskey before it went in the barrel and after. Pretty cool experience along with a behind the scenes look at the full process. Extremely underrated Asian owned distillery in Southeast Austin.. It's just around the corner of Meanwhile Brewery, an extremely popular and tending brewery that also has a large outdoor offering. The stark difference in popularity despite being right around the corner of each other is shocking. You have difficulty finding parking at Meanwhile. Meanwhile at Fierce Whiskers, the bartenders actually tend high quality careful drinks. Otoshi Kushiyaki skewers and Texsueno food trucks are also not going to disappoint. I'm in love with Fierce Whiskers! The main interior tasting room and bar area is gorgeous with deep tones of dark blues, leather and wood textures, and moody lighting. The large glass doors open up to a spacious outdoor seating area. The drink menu is fairly priced with cocktails that allow you to taste their very own whiskey, gin, and rum. If you prefer straight whiskey, they have flights/tasting samplers you can ask about. I loved the food truck parked in their lawn (Char ATX) with delicious yakitori (Japanese meat on skewers). They have tours of their facilities which sound really interesting. I think those tours are about $15/person (please verify with Fierce Whiskers for most up-to-date pricing). Nestled off Burleson, near Meanwhile Brewery, this distillery has a lot to offer. Smart interior, crafty mixologists with jaunty banter, and a beautiful outdoor area. Not to mention their spirits. They make more than just smooth whiskey; they have gin and rum, too! Great space for a date, group of friends or coworkers, or even a big party. Spent a lazy Sunday afternoon here. The summer menu is awesome and will definitely come back to try more of the menu. I opted for the old fashion to try their bourbon and it was smooth. Since it was a hot Memorial Weekend, we also had a few of their frozen slushes. What better flavor than 'watermelon sugar' and what a high! The candied straw was a nice touch. Very chic cigar whiskey bar with a view. I loved my experience here. The general manager Grant was our tour guided, who was extremely knowledgeable. Date night: The indoor couches give you the opportunity to have an intimate conversation or the chair in the grass looking up at the sky. Live music: We enjoyed listening to live music and drinking Paloma's and Old Fashions. Food: Food truck onsite is A-amazing. Just go for the Brussels sprouts if you don't drink. Outdoor experience: Frisbee golf. Why not! Just give the bartender your ID to hold and start playing. Cornhole. Show off your skills. Kid friendly: Sometimes you want have a place that allows your kiddos to run free without judgement. We saw several kiddos during the day playing in the grass while the parents listened to music and enjoyed the refreshing cocktails. I'm sure they played paper rock scissors to see who was DD. Overall, the whiskey is good. I enjoyed how they were able to make some of my favorite beverages with whiskey. Like a Paloma. Fierce distillery is odd in that I actually like the grounds and the vibe more than the drinks. The interior is classy and upscale, the grounds are sprawling, and the food truck options are great (with a special not to texsueno). That being said, the drinks are...just okay. Maybe above average, depending on what you order. The old fashioned was just okay. I chatted with one of the bartenders and he recommended a boulevardier, which was also just okay. One of the bartenders had an attitude and seemed like he absolutely didn't want to be there...bummer. Still worth a visit for the ambiance alone. It's just around the corner from Meanwhile brewing, but it couldn't feel more different (read: calm and classy). If you're visiting on a Summer day, get here early. i visited fierce whiskers for the first time for their cinco de mayo event. wow, this place exceeded all my expectations. it's literally a minute away from meanwhile and i didn't know about it until recently. the vibe is so chill compared to meanwhile. the bar space inside is small but tastefully decorated. the outside has SO much space and beautiful trees. also, there's no chaotic children running around. it's a great place for adults who just want a relaxing time. the old fashioned and cinco drinks were all outstanding. even the maraschino cherries were delicious. you can tell the bartenders are passionate about their craft. there's a mexican food truck (texsueño) and asian food truck (otoshi) on-site. i prefer otoshi but they are both great options. in a way, i'm kinda glad not many people know about this place. it feels very special. it feels very austin. i can't wait for my next visit. read more

I feel apathetic about this spot and won't go out of my way to return. The whiskey here is a bit below average in my opinion. It's hard to make whiskey in Texas because it gets so hot here that the whiskey evaporates fast in the barrels. So they can't age it as much as in cooler places or they would lose too much of the product. Thus it tastes young and not very complex (in my opinion). And it should be relatively affordable because it doesn't age for as long. Their whiskey was fine, but nothing great. The pour was affordable, but I would never purchase a bottle at the prices they are asking. For the same price you can get a much better product that was aged 10-12 years instead of 3. I was shocked by their prices, it's very presumptuous. Buildings themselves are in an industrial area/ office park which is odd. Once you get onto the property it feels like its own place and is pretty and peaceful, but you can still see office park buildings around. It feels forced. The Interior of the buildings are very nice. Their rickhouse was cool, similar style to the ones in central KY with a modern twist One of the bartenders was nice and welcoming, the other was a bit cold when I was asking basic questions about the property and brand and product. Kept telling "they wont tell me that stuff, I'm just a bartender" I didn't take a tour, so I can't comment on it. Overall the place felt engineered and it lacked a soul. Kinda synthetic read more
