    Onion rings
    Simran B.

We visited Mono BBQ on a Wednesday night around 8pm. They were super accommodating to our massive party of 20 people, and the entire staff was warm and welcoming. I ordered a vodka mojito which was really well done, and then brisket with grits and onion rings. The brisket was great, and let me tell you these guys have such a nice selection of sauces! There's really something for everyone. The onion rings were super generous and really tasty, they basically gave me half an onion. My only pitfall was the grits - I think they were too garlicky (words I've never used in that configuration as I'm usually a "you can never have too much garlic" girl) and could've been balanced out better with a little more cheese. Everyone in my group had great things to say about the food here. Also their salads are a generous size! I'd definitely go back here if I lived in Jacksonville, but visiting from out of town, it was obvious that this place is great.

First time to this location of Mojos and I was delighted to see that they execute just as well as their other locations. This location on University Blvd delivered all the same great standards that I order from other locations. The pulled pork quesadilla was seasoned well, cooked well and just delicious. There is a good argument to make that their onion rings are the best you'll have anywhere. I will say that the burnt ends were the best I've had. I don't know if that's because we arrived early in the day but they were fantastic. This location honors the blues and you'll see pictures and theming that matches. Really cool idea. Just a bit of constructive nitpicking here. I would have liked some fixings with the quesadilla. Lettuce, tomato maybe and I had to ask for sour cream which comes standard at other locations. I also ordered Cheerwine Zero which I know comes in a bottle but I typically get a cup with ice in it at different locations. Great location, great theming, all the same great flavors that Mojos does so well. I highly suggest you give them a try.

Huge portions on the whole hog! It serves 4-6 and comes with ribs, turkey, chicken, pulled pork, sausage and 4 sides. They offered to substitute meats for extra of something else, so we substituted the sausage for extra ribs. For sides, we ordered onion rings (upcharge), corn, fries and Cole slaw. All of the sides were good, but I would probably not get the corn again, personal preference. Food came out quickly, tasted great and service was friendly!

I've been to another Mojo before and was not impressed with their bbq. This time I had the blackened catfish with potato salad and mac n cheese and was blown away. The fish was delicious and it came with what essentially equals out to be an entire bottle of tartar sauce. This is the correct amount of tartar to fish ratio. Theresa was my server and she was so friendly and attentive. Will be going back!

The blackened catfish is the best I've ever had. Been coming here for years. Always a great experience.

First time dining at this location as we usually dine at the one in Avondale as it is closer to home. We also enjoy the location in St. Augustine when visiting there. We were in the area and are so happy we tried this location. We arrived not too long after opening on Sunday to a bright and clean restaurant. We were told to pick any table and chose a booth. There were only a few other customers when we arrived but the restaurant was busy as we dined. Our server was fantastic, friendly and helpful, we even learned that the onion rings appetizer could be ordered as 5 or 10 which was great since we did not want to have leftovers in the car with our other appointments. My Pepsi zero was never empty and I always enjoy the offer of a to-go cup when departing! Our food was delicious and so fresh. I am a big fan of Mojo's burnt ends and these were honestly the best ones I have had. I'm not sure if it was because it was so early in the day, but they were so juicy and perfectly cooked. Tender with just the right amount of crust that was not overly burnt. My salmon salad was also amazing. I order my salmon well done and it was delicious, moist and flavorful. My husband enjoyed both his onion rings and pork quesadilla too. Highly recommend Mojo's at any of the locations mentioned, and today's visit has given us another great local option.

Definitely one of my favorite BBQ places! The food was fresh and DELICIOUS! Restaurant and service were excellent - love the homage to Blues musicians and guitarists in art throughout the restaurant.

Brisket and turkey combo with Brunswick stew and green beans

I really like the bbq here and the fact that they have a good mustard based sauce. I have had the Mojo Q Salad before with the meat combination and it was so big that I got half to go right off the bat. On this visit, I got the 2 meat combo with brisket (fatty) and turkey with Brunswick stew and green beans. The brisket and turkey were so tender and delicious. The stew had a good consistency that I like but honestly I though it as well as the beans were lacking flavor. The portions are good and the prices are on par. They do serve wine and beer although I have only been here for lunch so I haven't had any or enjoyed a happy hour here. Overall, it is sold bbq. My service has always been good and the servers are always on top of things.

Got there early and was seated right away. Place is like the other mojos but one big exception. No bar. They have beer and wine but nothing more. I had the 2 meat combo. Turkey and pulled pork. Sides were Brunswick stew and smoked corn. Best sides around. Can't go to mojos without trying. Actually anna tried mine and she asked for an additional side of smoked corn. That good! Anna had the salad with the pulled pork. It looked really good. Service was super fast. Food good and hot. Mojos is worth the trip. At any of them.

    Wings
    Laura G.

The wings were great...seasoned and juicy. The rest of the meat was served dry and not very good. It's probably because it was past lunch and kind of early for dinner when I ordered. The result...disappointing. The sides did not disappoint...the onion rings seemed as though they were cooked to order and the coleslaw was fresh. The French fries were hot and the baked beans tasty.

Meeeh. It was barbecue. Ordered the brisket and asked for the fatty point. It was pretty lean and very dry. Sides were not bad. Maybe it was the midweek blues (2pm We'd) Paid $21 and change. I mentioned that they should update their prices online ($14) She said that it was because it was on Yelp (?) Ok, if you've read this far deduct at least on more star. I wrote the above after one bite. This is my opinion after I finished. Again, the sides were good and to be fair it might have m pretty good brisket..... day before yesterday. Today it should not have been served. Very, very dry. It looks MUCH better in my picture, but it was not very pleasant to eat.

We were on this side of town for a sporting event for my kiddo and needed some good food before heading home. My husband suggested BBQ and we found this place! It was early on a Saturday, so not crowded when we sat down and service was quick too. Prices were very fair for the portions and we left with lots of leftovers! Variety of sauces at the table for you to select from and a good amount of choices on the menu too for all your bbq cravings. Separate children's menu too which included ice cream at the end - happiness for my two littles! Meat with cooked well, full of flavor and served hot. One of the better bbq places I've had here in Jacksonville!

Barbecue salad with brisket and chicken
    Alisa J.

We have been coming here for over 15 years now. Been awhile since our last visit but tonight confirmed Mojo is just as good as always. Good quality, same great food. My favorite is the barbecue salad with their brisket and pulled chicken. The jalapeño cornbread croutons are delish, and the chipotle ranch packs a kick. Of course I add more chipotle sauce to my salad! Best salad ever - and enough for two meals. All the meats are good, and the Smitty is a great sandwich. This place also does amazing catering - we've had a few family get togethers catered and everyone always loves it - and we love if anything is leftover.

They could have used more seasoning. It's an ok place and definitely very popular. Lots of after work traffic dropping in. I just don't get the appeal of a happy hour short on pour and bland bbq. We came in on a Wednesday evening. We asked about the menu and were told at the counter that it was Wing Wednesday and the wings were $1 each. Well how could we not add those onto our order. We ordered a Burnt Ends platter with mac and cheese, and corn nuggets, a Brisket Platter with corn nuggets and beans. We also ordered a large mac for my son and a side of lean brisket. For the wings we ordered the Cajun ranch. Our food started coming out in about 5 minutes. Firstly, I was shocked at the wings. I love wings, but they aren't something I usually order often as I find them just OK. There are only a couple places that I visit specifically for wings. Well, let me tell you, I would make a visit back just for these wings. OMG, the Cajun ranch was simply amazing, really addictive. They were my favorite item. We devoured them. The burnt ends were very good. I appreciate they are big chunks of brisket with no pull pork filler. The flavor was amazing as well and the bits of fat melted in our mouth. The corn nuggets were fine and the Mac N Cheese was quite tasty. We enjoyed the meal so much, were were trying to figure out somewhere for a family lunch the next Sunday and came back again. This time my sister, son and I brought my dad. We of course ordered more wings and burnt ends and brisket with lots of Mac N Cheese. The food really is something special. The wings are absolutely wonderful and the burnt ends are a hit. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants and will always be on my list of visits to enjoy when I come back to Jax.

Safe to say, work and school season is officially underway, but this was the perfect weekend escape! The decor is gorgeous inside and out, and the food? Absolutely amazing. Here is the breakdown of our feast: The Starters: Crispy eggs (that hot sauce on top is a treat!) and fresh-milled cornbread that set a massive bar for the meal. The Mains & Sides: A combo plate with pulled pork (great!) and smoked turkey (just so-so, skip it next time). Paired with rich, creamy mac n cheese and jalapeño grits with the perfect kick. We also got fried shrimp and yuca fries! The OMG Moments: We split a burger and fries... and y'all, the fries are fried in beef tallow! The Sauces: Six sauces on the table mean you have to do a DIY flavor flight. The Alabama white sauce is incredible, but if you mix it with Ben's mustard sauce? Heaven. Cornbread was good, just note it does have jalapeños. I would say the only feedback was the brisket appeared to be more lean than moist. When we ordered the moist brisket a few weeks ago, it was a lot more marbled, looser and fattier than what we received in this order which was less marbled with leaner cuts. So it appears the staff may had gave the lean than the moist cut... Other than that, everything was good, but perhaps the staff could have additional guidance in brisket cut differences.
