This place has really good taco plates and I appreciate that they let me replace my beans with more rice!!! Speaking of their rice this is one of the best Mexican rice I've had because sometimes it's usually dry but this place is fluffy and moist! We ordered some takeout for us and our neighbors. I got the #16 Deluxe Molcajete Wet Burrito with Carnitas and done fajita style. I loved it! Wife got the #22 Tamales with chicken. She loved that. Neighbor guy got the #21 Chili Relleno and Beef Tamale combo. He loved that. Note there's a typo on their menu and the #20 actually is Chili Relleno and Enchilada. Neighbor lady got the Molcajete Tostada Salad and said it was fine. Apparently the tortilla was a bit stale. We also got a large cups and salsa and a large guacamole. Both of which were excellent! Normally I do takeout but today we ate in the eating area and it was super quiet and there was plenty of tables and seats. The employees are also very kind and friendly. Fantastic spot for excellent, fresh, very well-priced Mexican food. We ordered tacos, taquitos and quesadillas. The order took longer than we expected, but worth the wait! It was a clean shop and lots of great options for food. Fish tacos were incredible- the shrimp was 'okay'...steak quesadillas was excellent- very well flavored. Only reason why I'm giving 2 stars cause the service was good. Took our orders correctly and food came out quick. Small restaurant plenty of seating not a lot people there when I showed up. I'm coming from LA where I must say our street vendors have better tasting food then this place. I was starving and we saw it was called Molcajete so I assumed they would be serving Molcajete in a Molcajete Bowl with several meats with that good sauce. They do not serve any type of dish in a volcanic rock bowl. So I decided to go with the sopes. Yea sopes tasted as they were frozen and thawed. Shredded chicken had no flavoring. Overall just not good Mexican food. Way better places I'll rather eat at. Thanks for the food though cause I really was starving. Won't be back. Also usually at the Mexican restaurants I've ate at chips and salsa are free. They aren't here. read more

Long review: To start, the chips and salsa was great, they're not stingy with the chips and the salsa was flavorful with plenty of onions and cilantro, and not overly blended. Wet burrrrito? Yes please. My family was surprised, I rarely buy or choose to eat a burrito. I'm a three taco kind of gal. But there were no tacos with the molcajete name of approval on them (don't worry tacos are still good and my brother recommends the fish taco) so I stretched myself and feel that I had the best meal on the table. I chose the carnitas meat and it was so tender, flavorful, and juicy, I ate way more than intended. The other part of the Molcajete experience is Silvia. She is such a lovely and welcoming person that my grandma felt compelled to introduce us all to her after one or two prior visits. Anyways, I definitely recommend the molcajete burrito. read more

We went for dinner on Sunday and even though we got there at 7:30 and they close at 8:00 we had great service. Portions are big, but the carne asada was a little chewy. Everything was packaged well for my to go order. The person who took our order was super friendly, but it took a while to receive our food.
