My default place to go to in Mountain View. Drinks are decently priced, and they have a nice selection of beers. I have to say though, out of all the places I've been to in MV, Molly's definitely has the best bartenders. Every time my friends and I have gotten mixed drinks (long island, sex on the beach, malibu pineapple, cosmo, etc), they were delicious. This is definitely the place to go if you enjoy girly drinks because you will not be able to taste the alcohol. Be careful! :) Wednesday nights seem pretty quiet, so it's a good place to hangout. If you want to hang out with the crazy crowds, you should go on a Thursday or Friday night starting around 10PM. Dance floor is pretty amusing with its light-up tiles, and the place gets pretty packed. The music is pretty decent for dancing, unlike some places that play songs that absolutely have no beat. A downside to this place is that they occasionally charge cover to get in. Really, Molly's? Who do you think you are, a club in SF? Also, if you're looking a younger crowd, this is definitely not the place to go. If you're just looking for drinks and a place to hang out with your own group, then it's fine. It's a tolerable place. You can either chill at the bar, get up and dance or hang out and talk with your friends in the patio. I come here only when I get dragged by friends. Otherwise, this wouldn't be my first choice to go for drinks. (whether it's busy or not) I've stopped in multiple times because I really enjoy bars that have patios and theirs is super cute. It's a pretty straight forward place with an actual Irish staff. I like it here. Have spent a lot of interesting nights at Molly's. Birthdays, anniversaries, drunken hair-flinging... Friendly, mixed crowd. Dancing here is fun with a lot of good music. That's my preference though,if someone doesn't like current pop/hip-hop and crowded places I can see if they don't enjoy it here. But when my friends and I have a hankerin for booty-shakin, coming here definitely satisfies. Their drinks are good and priced fair. The last time I came here it was a friend's birthday, so I ordered her a shot of Patron. I told the bartender it was for a birthday girl, so he gave her an extremely hefty amount, probably $30 worth! Wonder if it is from the walls or the patrons at this quality establishment You have unappealing and mouth breathing types hanging out and grinding away on the dance floor. It is an equal opportunity place as you will find idiots from all ethnic groups at this place: White, Black, Latin, Chinese and Indian at this place. I am an Indian guy and I am embarrassed about the obnoxious Indian neanderthals that pester, grope and harass unsuspecting girls on the dance floor. Me and my friends came here a handful of times and for most part it's enjoyable place to chill and drinks. They also have a DJ there and a small dance floor if you in the mood to dance. The drinks here are okay, we usually pre-drink before we go in. The prices are pretty fair, not a rip off like at clubs. The music is a hit or miss. Last time I was there, the DJ was wack. One song he's playing EDM, next song is Hip Hop, next is old school Hip Hop, then back to EDM and playing some rock music. Like wtf, make up your mind. Personally, I'm a dive bar girl but I went here this weekend to celebrate my friend's birthday. The bouncer/security guy was very nice. We were waiting for our friends, so we didn't want to be in the bar drinking too much with out them so we left to go grab a bite to eat and come back. When we returned, the line was all the way out to the end of the side walk by the street! The bouncer walked up to us and said, "Are these the friends you are waiting for?" I replied, "Yes." He then said, "You can bring them in and get them stamped." That was nice of him. So we all walked in, started our drinkin and did some dancin! It does get crowded but oh well. I prefer it to be crowded so I am not sticking out like a sore thumb somewhere on the dance floor dancing. I feel the energy more with everyone close by dancing too. The bar tenders were super nice also. They helped each other out. The lemon drops were yummy and she hooked us up with a little extra. The cover charge was only 5 dollars per person. I give it a 5 because all of the staff made it a pleasant experience and I enjoy a small dance scene. I'd definitely come back to celebrate. read more

First of all, this is a great pub and a great club. Huge variety of liquor and beer, you won't leave disappointed. But I'd much rather touch on some points I see other yelpers reviewing on: 1. Cover. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights after 9 Molly's turns into a club (DJ, light up dance floor, the whole bit) so yes there is a cover $5-$7 depending on what time you get there. Don't harass the door man about the cover he's got no say, and in comparison to other clubs in the South Bay Area $5 is not a lot. LGBG/Charly's is $10-$25, Monte Carlo is $15-$25 for guys. "But I'm gonna spend a couple hundred inside!" Calm down big spender. 2. Security. Just like driving on the freeway, don't break the rules and you don't have to interact with them in a negative way. They are there to keep the peace and make sure you and your group has a good time. Also, don't make the assumption this is their only job; a lot of them work at gyms, tech companies, other security jobs, or even law enforcement. 3. Dress code. Fellas, I know those new boxers you got are pretty thug, trust me I believe you. But no, I don't want to see them or have those be the only thing protecting me from your junk while on the dance floor. Hats/beanies: why are you wearing them to a club? **slams head on bar** 4. Bartenders. Last but definitely not least. Where else in the South Bay can you find legitimate Irish bartenders that can pour a perfect pint of Guinness? Besides fibbars. Molly's! That's where. And folks, splashing them with water or your drinks will not get you better service, it'll get you introduced to security (see #2) and a trespass order from both Molly's and Fibbars, and more than likely every bar on Castro. I guess I never remembered to review this place even though I've been here quite a couple of times. There's usually a cover charge on weekends, but no more than $10. Drinks are strong and cheap. This is your typical casual, Irish Bar with a dance floor and back patio. Be warned, it gets SUPER crowded and at times, rowdy in here. Bar tender at 8:30 PM on Tuesday, 3/21. My card had some issues, and this particular bartender looks at me and says "your card is denied". After I explain its a debit card and that that's incorrect, he yells "dude, you have no funds. Don't come to a bar if you have no money". Absolutely inappropriate, inaccurate, and unacceptable. I called the bank account and, low and behold, I had funds, and as I went to pay him back, he informed me someone else had paid. There is a mature and profesional way to handle a situation like this without resorting to condescension and disrespect. If I were a bar, I'd wanna be Molly Magees. You've got your classic 90's music videos playing, your cheap well drinks flowing, and the dance floor absolutely filled with A+ people watching. I've found South Bay nightlife...confusing, to say the least, with a lack of fun dive bars that aren't dead or regulars-only, and this place totally fills the void! Cash-only cover charge, so prepare for that. Go in and head straight back outside onto the heated patio. The bar out there is WAY less crowded, and there are a few tables as well. I've only had good interactions with the bartenders and staff here (hurray for so many female bartenders!) They're personable and quick and even the security guards keepin' it secure outside are hilarious and fun. It does get extremely hot in here (damn, cue the Nelly, the 90's music videos are inspiring me) so plan ahead with your wardrobe. It seems like some nights are Latino-themed, or else the DJ that night just really loved Selena--who doesn't though? The vibe here is really fun and you'll easily find people to dance with if that's your vibe. Out of all the bars on Castro, I would highly recommend this spot for a guaranteed good time. Came here on Tuesday after a really rough day. This place is tough to find at night when you've never been here and don't know what you're looking for. It seems to be for the older crowd, but I had a decent time regardless because of the company, which was just a small group of coworkers. I felt out of place since there weren't really any Asians there. It was a bit of a drive for me, too, so hopefully things will be more local the next time.... Gets pretty packed Friday and Saturday, but never had too much of an issue getting drinks. There is a decent amount of seating available if you just want to sit down and have a few. Molly MaGees is a perfect spot if you want a bit of a good time when you go out. It's very dynamic, and it has a nice energy. It's not too crowded and yet there were quite a decent number of people on a Thursday. There is a broad selection of beer you can choose from. You can have a varieties of regular beers, or if you prefer something more sweet, like I do, this is the place for you. My recommendation is Redd's apple ale. It is not too sweet, you still have the taste off beer, but it also has a sweet refreshing apple taste. That with the combinations of peanuts was awesome. There is also a pool table if you feel like playing. All in all, in my opinion it's everything a nice Irish pub should have. I will definitely return for another visit. read more

Molly Mcgees is a pretty great spot. This use to be a spot for the locals of Moutain View, but now it has become a spot for tech transplants. The bar has definitely upgraded its technology by adding multiple big flat screens around the bar that will play sports and music videos depending on the time of day. Pros: One of the cheapest spots that have a cover on Castro. Other bars tend to be $10 or more on the weekend at different points in the night but this places stays constant. Popular spot!- this place is always packed with people. Some nights the crowds could vary by age and ethnicity but its always crowded. Great bar and tap selection Pool and music to entertain! Cons: Small dance floor if you want to dance. Sometimes can be too loud inside and not enough space at the outdoor tables. Bathrooms arent the cleanest. I just went here for the 1st time last Sat and I had so much fun!! Now being honest - they said it was an Irish Pub but that Sat night was "club night" so there was music. At 1st I thought that was lame, if its a pub it should act like one!! But then we got there and it was actually hella fun. There are booths up in the section before you get to the outdoor patio/bar area that are great to listen to music and chill with your friends on. AVOID this place at any cost. Group of us went there on Friday night. Fight broke down on the dance floor. I asked the security to get those couple of girls who attacked one of the girl for no reason which everyone witnessed it. He asked me why would he do that. Really? First of all, they have bunch of security guards walking around but no one monitoring the dance floor. That should be the first priority because most of the time fights starts there when people are drunk and bumping into each other causing fights. Girl was pretty hurt. I asked security what happened to those girls who attacked her. He said that he took them outside which was a lie. As walking outside, I saw those girls at the bar. REALLY? What kind of security is this!?!?! Place is really ghetto. We should've known as, they charge only $7 cover. No one monitors the dance floor causing innocent people to get hurt. Totally incompetent security to resolve any conflict. Restrooms are super dirty and place stinks.
