The bakery is inside another store, "Vintage Barn Chicks". It is just that - a bakery, and not a cafe. Don't expect to come in for coffee and dessert. It is, rather, a bakery with lots of gluten free options for breads, cakes and desserts. They also seem very open to experimenting with other food restrictions (egg, dairy, etc.) and I can see how it would be appealing to people with food allergies and problems. While I am not sensitive to gluten or any other food, I do like to vary my diet. I believe there is too much soy and wheat and everything we eat already, and do enjoy alternative foods for balance. And for taste! Many of the gluten free options are delicious! And while I enjoyed finding a place with as much options as this place had to offer, I wasn't wowed. To be fair, I am only comparing the cookies I had here with other gluten free cookies, and I must say, I've had better. Also, despite the friendly "ask about" signs, asking questions to the person manning the cash register was like pulling teeth. They weren't friendly, and made me feel like I had to hurry up and leave. As much variety they had in the store, I didn't feel comfortable looking through the items. Hence I ended up with just a box of chocolate chip cookies. That were just, as we say in yelp-land, a-OK.

Delicious gluten free bakery! Customer service was superb and I love that they sell cookie dough too.

My husband and I stopped into this bakery and got the Twinkie like pastry and that was delicious!

This shop is such a gem, offering classic bakery staples, delicious macarons, and fun, bakery-themed items. I especially love their "kindness coupons"--such a thoughtful gesture for anyone who could use a little treat. I attended one of their macaron classes, and while I don't know what their kitchen looked like before, it had been fully transformed into a student-friendly workspace with stations set up for each group. After signing in, you're directed to your station and handed an apron. The spots are semi-assigned--if you booked with a friend or a small group, Kasey does a great job placing you together. Everything you need is laid out and ready to go. Kasey walks you through the whole process, checking in along the way and sharing helpful tips she's picked up throughout her macaron-making journey. You and your partner split the batter, but you each get to do your own mixing, choose your colors, and pipe your own shells, which makes it a really hands-on experience. While the macarons are baking, you're treated to sweet bites like brownies or crispy rice treats. Once the macarons have cooled, you fill, package, and--of course--sneak a few tastes along the way. The whole class is so fun, approachable, and well-paced. Afterward, you even get the chance to take home some bakery goodies at a discount! I absolutely love their bakery items, and the class was such a blast. Can't wait to go back!

Date of visit: January 26, 2024…read more Our January version of "Coffee & Kringle" brought us to Batter and Mac in the Falls. A friend had heard that they had gotten some flack from the local Republicans for being pro-LGBT and that was enough for us to go pay them a visit. Staff were wonderful and friendly, even suggesting that I get the Wicked-themed matcha latte with strawberry cold foam, something that I did not think I would necessarily like, but she pushed it hard and you know what? She was right! It was a delicious drink that I may or may not have licked the lid to ensure I got all of the cold foam... My ham and cheese croissant was quite good, though I think it would have been better had it been warmed up. And then I went back for a Scotcheroo and that was fantastic. I had intended to just have a bite that morning and finish it later but there was no way I could do that, I ended up eating the entire thing while we were visiting. Outside of the room temp croissant, the reason for four stars instead of five here is because the bakery gets VERY cold everytime the door opens, I probably should have kept my coat on the whole time we were there. I think one of those ceiling-mounted air units would help mitigate this and get me to stay a bit longer (and order more food!) in the colder months.

There was one customer ahead of me, who seemed more concerned with making conversation with me and asking me what I would be ordering, rather than making his own decision. After it was finally my turn, I asked the employee if a specific product contained custard or pastry cream, and the answer somehow included telling me the history of the owner attending pastry school, a list of their locations and hours, and a tour of everything they carry. I was just looking to get in and out, and apparently this is not the place for that. I am used to big city bakeries, and I would say this is a small town bakery. I'm sure it's fine if you have time to kill, but I wasn't looking for that. I decided on a dark chocolate croissant. It was $6. The small part that had chocolate in it was WONDERFUL, but it was just about a dollar coin size of chocolate in a large croissant, so it was almost entirely just a plain croissant. For $6. I wanted to like this place, especially since there don't seem to be other bakeries in the area, but I likely will not be back.

We've taken her to Metcafe's (love), she's tried Metro Market, and so it was time to introduce her to Meijer one Sunday when we were out and about. This Meijer is large, clean, has a ton of variety and options for any product you may want to purchase, and is easy to navigate with nice, wide aisles. We had already been to Costco, so weren't looking to do a full shopping experience here but did easily find what we were in need of. A few things that I liked: The choices and variety of canned fruit (including the fact that they had Dole tropical fruit salad, which can be hard to find). The bread selection! So many choices of both bakery style bread and your more commercial varieties. Aside from that, we were able to find everything on our list. The store is well organized so we didn't have to hunt too long for anything and checking out at the self checkout was a snap. Get to it!

This is a clear case of false advertising. -Gave back the craft beer. We would rather pay full price somewhere else. Meijer leadership needs to look up who was working today as a manager, and align their practice with laws. Unfortunate experience. We want to warn others so they don't go through the same issue. Just buy alcohol elsewhere.
