San Diego Safari Park is loaded with lovely places to take a break. I have recently discovered a spot in the African Village that overlooks Mombasa Lagoon. There are plenty of tables and it is a great place to regroup. The Safari park caters to adults by selling plenty of cocktails and beer too.

Probably the best food place at the Safari Park. Lots of yummy choices, mostly BBQ style food. Ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich and it was good, above average typical zoo food. It also came with fries and cole slaw. They had pulled pork nachos on the menu, definitely going to try those next; they looked super yummy. There's lots of seating, indoor and out. We had a view of the Lagoon loop, a nice big pond with tons of ducks. It was a great and relaxing view. I would recommend coming here for your big meals, although there's tons of small snack and drinks stands all over the park.

That said, I work in the mall and timing is a big factor. When you order, it takes at least about 10 minutes for the food to be ready, which is why my coworkers and I relied on DoorDash pickup. It made it possible for us to order ahead during short breaks, pick it up, and still be able to enjoy it while supporting the business. We recently noticed the topping options were removed from DoorDash, which is a big downside. The toppings are kind of the whole point, like the sugar coating and sauces. Without that, there is no way to customize in the app. When we pick up, we have to ask in person, and even then they usually just give the toppings on the side instead of putting them on the corn dogs, which is not the same experience. We really do love this place and hope the topping options get added back soon, because otherwise it is hard for us to keep ordering

Don't get me wrong the sauce is good and decent spicy. Loved it! I wish they could make extra topping like egg or cheese optional else it just Tteok and some fish cake with tons of sauce on it. The spicy garlic gyoza is ok I gave 7.2/10. Loved the spicy sauce!! The issue is the utensils. They need to change the plastic spoon size because it's way too small and can't even scoop the sauce on Tteokbokki. The container by itself is good it just the utensils need to be changed at least size up. Is located in the 3rd floor of Escondido Mall next to escalator, inside the food court right on the left side of the food court number 2. You can go from back door next to 24h Fitness. Places is clean and there always cleaning lady or man to clean the food court or dining area, this are open space.

The batter was light and crispy and the bbq sauce and ranch were perfect condiments. Chicken Salad: Southwestern style with pico, black beans, and roasted corn. Came topped with perfectly crisp fried onions and a broken up chicken tender. I think the dressing was a chipotle mayo. Bacon Cheeseburger: Perfectly cooked but the beef patties they used are thin, tiny, and not great. If they could just upgrade it to a higher quality quarter lb patty, I think everyone would benefit. The Fries: What the heck! Why would a safari park have some of the best fries anywhere?! Crispy, thick, hot and soft in the center, and so well seasoned. They came with the burger and the tenders in a large mound so our meals were super filling. Staff-wise, Brant was amazingly friendly. He turned us onto the tiger tail fudge (peanut butter and white chocolate) and we ended up buying some of that and the rocky road fudge to take home and enjoy.

The food preparation time was a bit slow but I found that they cook their food from scratch and they aren't just warming it up. This is a plus when it's not busy but a huge problem if they are. The park could do a better job than go purposely understaff the location. The fudge was also insanely good and super sweet. I highly recommend the rocky road and the peanut butter one! Super rich super satisfying. Huge thank you to our cashier and service fam Brandt. People like him is why I patron specific places. Excellent service, super helpful, and always helped when he could! Slurp embraces everything awesome about Thai food with none of the extraneous western influences that simply detract from the food. They serve the tastiest food Thailand has to offer, street food, and they do it fast with a smile as if you were on a street corner in Bangkok. From pad kra pow to crab omelette, pretty much everything on the menu is some sort of fusion / street food goodie that is as close to real Thai food as it gets (stateside at least). Nevermind it's in the food court of a mall. Ignore the broccoli haired Gen Alpha's wandering aimlessly around. This place will transport you to the heart of the Thai street food scene by the first bite. And in true street food fashion, if you want something custom, just ask. The cooks are Thai and after a little translation (from the person at the register) they deliver made-to-order perfection. And if you want a real taste of Thailand make sure you order spicy level 10 ("fire-in-the-bunghole") but if you want the real Thai spice level ask for 20. Slurp redefines "mall food" to the extent that "I going to the mall" means I'm coming home with authentic Thai food rather than Hello Kitty artifacts from Miniso.

Since it was so spacious and well decorated we sat at the dining area to enjoy the ambiance- lots of light, young adults eating. The crab rangoons were crispy and quite filling- you get a hefty serving. You can tell they'd be amazing re-crisped up in an air fryer. The spicy noodles were also solid, and tasted freshly cooked. I prefer a more robust spice profile from Thai dishes, I don't think it was too spicy either. If you order three entrees, it's more than enough for two people. Happy I tried this spot, it was convenient and tasty.
