Get the chicken and chicken chili momo! It was a random Sunday afternoon that I got to spend by myself while Gavin's at the temple learning about Buddhism and Vietnamese. I drove to the temple in Palo Alto to visit my grandpa (his picture is there) and decided to get gas on my way back. Had no idea there was a food truck meet up here. I was determined to stop by after Costco. I was excited to see momos on the menu. That was the first truck I saw. I didn't eat it the same day. These tasted great, still. I microwaved them but if I wasn't super lazy, steaming them for a few minutes would do the trick. The chicken momos were succulent. The chicken chili momos were earthy and had some heat to it. This place came highly recommended by the hubby's coworkers, however we found the food to be very underwhelming and salty. We got the fried chicken momo, chili chicken momo, and Szechwan chow mein. The sauce (given on the side) for the momo was very salty and the chili momo itself was very salty as well. Giving the place three stars because the szechwan chow mein - mild in comparison to the overly salty momo sauce - was pretty good (it wasn't spicy though so I'm not sure how it differed from the regular chow mein that was on the menu. We got the chili chicken momo, the regular chicken momo, and the chili chicken entree. Everything was decent, nothing crazy. It may have been what we ordered but everything kind of tasted the same? The sauces that came with the chicken momo weren't really right either, other places are much better. There was an herb in the sauce that we weren't crazy about, it was overpowering and didn't really go with the rest of the flavors. The chili chicken was also okay, super super spicy. Luckily we eat really spicy food and could handle it but any spicier and it would have been too much, and that was really the only flavor. The chili chicken momo was also decent but we were expecting it to be a little crispy since it was fried but it was pretty soggy. If you eat XLB or dumplings before, these are those not so good chef making dumplings but failed in execution. Dumplings skin breaks in no time, doughy, and most importantly cold. Any dumplings needs to hot. We eat on the spot and it is not hot if you are wondering. If you over steamed your food, dough will break. I think that is what happen. Or they store dumplings in wrong temperature (refrigeration issue?) so dough will melt before steamed. How is it served is also wrong. They stacked steamed dumplings in a small box (see my picture) instead of give space to dumplings. If top one is good, bottom ones will have too much moisture and therefore skin of dumplings falls apart or over steamed. If you are home chef, just go to other Asian dumplings store and buy handmade frozen ones to steam at home. At lease these come out hot. Free tea if you do yelp check in. +1 star. All these problems can be solve if they have a permanent location and steam dumplings as people order. With limited resources at a food truck, these results are hard to achieve. Management should look for a location to expand this business. read more

I seriously did not feel like I was in NorCal while I was at this Momo truck, experiencing the hustle and bustle around me! I really loved the whole experience that the food trucks offered ... That being said, the momos were amazing! I'm a huge fan of dumplings, gyozas and momos - and this was just perfectly cooked and flavored. The chicken and the veggie momos seemed like they were almost home-made and took you right back to the momos you may have had in India ... The one worry I had was if the wrapping would be so thick that it would take away from the stuffing, but happy to report that that was not the case! The sauce also was perfectly salted and flavored! I was really excited to eat the food here because I LOVE momos! I got 2 orders of the chicken momos but was pretty disappointed with the result. (Yes, I ate it right after it was made fresh). The filling was way too mushy! I suggest that they beat the mixture in the mixer longer so that the meat will firm up more. Alternatively, it could be that the momo was steamed too long or had too much filler like egg or cabbage giving it that mushy unpleasant texture. Texture aside, I was also left wanting more flavorwise. Please be more heavy-handed with those spices! More ginger, more garlic, more cumin, whatever spice, please add more!! The sauce on the side also left me wanting more - I was expecting a curry on crack, but tasted a watered-down curry instead. Again - more spices or umami boosters like tomato paste please.
