I remember growing watching Masaharu Morimoto on Iron Chef America since the age of 5 and feeling inspired by his creativity and culture. When I found out there was a restaurant with his name, I was already looking forward to checking them out. My sister came on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm and had no problem having a few tables to pick our seats with the friendly hostess. For appetizers we tried their soft shell bao and carpaccio. The bao was ideally soft and fluffy holding a perfectly tempera fried crab with a few pickle slices. It tasted good but was made even better when dipped in the sesame and soy sauce with the carpaccio. Having a hankering for salmon, this definitely satisfied my craving since it was clean and fatty tasting. For entrees my sister got their chicken ramen while I got their tonkatsu ramen. It was almost alarming how fast the ramens as they were dropped off before either appetizer. Although I didn't try the chicken ramen, my sister said it was light and exactly what she wanted. We both agreed the ramen noodles themselves are on the more al dente side which is better than the alternative of being over cooked. I enjoyed the tonkatsu broth as it was seasoned well but lacked some body as if it was the instant version. I was additionally disappointed to find the "char su" was actually traditional slices of bacon cooked to be incredibly tender, to not entirely discredit. Overall, we had a good experience but I did have slightly higher hopes for the ramen given the restaurant name. But this was also expected given where they're located and the volume they must be able to accommodate for. Price wasn't too bad considering so I would like to come again to try more from their menu. We frequently go to Celtics games and want a real meal prior to the games. We have gone to Momosan many times and it has never disappointed. We normally sit at the bar and the staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is amazing! Momosan is a great ramen place! It is not mind-blowing, but it is still delicious, the service is blazing fast, and the prices aren't too bad considering the location and celebrity connection. I tried a Kakuni Bao, the Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen, and a Spiced Car to drink. The pork bun/Bao was great. The bun itself was pillowy soft, the pork was very tender and flavorful, and I enjoyed the sauce (Dijon mayo). My only note: the lettuce, which added a pleasant freshness and crispness, was only in the very middle. As such, only half-ish of the bites got the benefits of this component. Then came the Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen. The components that were present were phenomenal! The broth was rich, gently sweet, a little spicy, and a lot savory. I wouldn't have minded a little more heat (as an option), but that's just me, not a criticism. The noodles were fantastic! They way exceeded my expectation! They were cooked to perfection and absorbed some of that incredible broth flavor. Ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg) is always a nice touch! This same flavor also worked its way into the Chashu, making it heavenly. The Chashu itself could not have been more tender and melted in my mouth. The only 'bummer' is that they include only one thin slice. Once I happily devoured it, after a bit of searching in the bowl, I had to order more. Paying an extra four bucks for two slices of heaven isn't an issue; I wish they included them outright. I have no complaints about the miso-ground pork, but this allows me to segue into my main criticism. Other than the spectacular flavor of the broth, I found the ramen lacked layers. Everything was broth-sub-something. There were two small squares of lettuce which offered some nice contrast; however, compared to the bowl size, these weren't much. Then there was the Spiced Car drink: this one was great. It had good strength, having a nice but not overpowering bite. It also tasted bright, citrusy, and refreshing! I also liked the rim! I'm not sure what it was, but it wasn't Tajin. It had a pleasant heat, adding some pep, and it didn't flake off right away, giving you a mouth full of whatever it was. Finally, the service was fabulous! It was unbelievably fast (especially considering how fresh everything was) and very attentive. So, even though I can't admit Momosan to Mark's Hall of Fame in terms of ramen, the meal was still overall delicious. Pork baos: the meat to fat ratio was good but there was no caramelization on the meat so it lacked flavor Duck fat fries: these were ok, nothing crazy or memorable. Tsukemen dipping ramen: probably the most disappointing if the three. The egg had no flavor, the soup was really loose and lacked flavor. Tsukemen soups I've had in other restaurants and Japan, were much thicker and flavorful to cling onto the noodle. Expected a lot more from a celebrity chef restaurant but maybe that was my mistake. Won't come back since it's hard to park around this area but if you do, get something else! read more

This was probably one of the worst ramen spots I ever went too. Definitely in the top 5 worst ramen places I ate at. The service was fine/ehh. My boyfriend ramen came out 10 mins before mine. I would hope that ramen would come out at the same time since it was both of us at a table. The ramen lacked overall flavor. I disliked my ramen so much that I only ate 1/5 of my bowl and did not take it home as left overs. The Peking Duck was a specialty that claims to start at 5pm. I got there at 5:15pm and they didn't have the pico de galio that goes on top of the peking duck. The Duck Fat Fries were probably the best thing there. The popcorn chicken tasted like there was to much mayo and was over powering. In terms of ambience, the place was loud since it's located in a food district. If you want ramen, this is not the place to go too. If you want to eat around and go to bars. this is the spot. And if you're drunk after big night live or after a game at TD, stop by then. it's still not that special. read more

I wanted badly to love an iron chef restaurant, but the totally undeveloped flavor profiles and decidedly average versions of dishes I've had better elsewhere made my Momosan experience a disappointment overall. I started with the edamame, which came out almost simultaneously with our mains. Generously and yet unevenly salted, and crying out for seasoning like soy or tamari sauce, or something more inventive. For ramen, I selected the chicken ramen, which was one of the only ones not featuring pork broth. The broth was soy-heavy and not rich, the protein was just cooked (literally), and the noodles plain and unglutenous. My companions had the spicy tonkatsu ramen, which they denoted as "not the best they've ever had". Even your standard ramen joint in the suburbs would give this place a run for its money, and a named ramen joint would easily top what I had here. With curt service at the check-in and a loud ambiance, I'm not sure I'd ever come back. read more

Terrible first experience at the Boston location. I arrived off a first class flight from Miami to Boston & came directly to get some ramen due to the cold weather. I ordered from the small kiosk for Momosan & proceeded to sit down in the restaurant where a young lady came up and basically told me i wasn't suppose to eat take out in the restaurant i just ordered from. Then my guest wanted a burger and they said he could not join me. Guys it's a food hall and the whole point of food halls is to bring a bunch of restaurants together and have people try different foods at the same location and eat together. In the end i got refunded and left but the staff treated me poorly like trash so instead of having lunch in writing a review . I hope u guys can be more kind to the next person and maybe train u team on asking a simple question like would u like "are you dining in or is this for take out" that would have my my experience much better and u guys would have gotten a 5 star review. waiiiitt.....why is this place not hyped up more? This cute little ramen spot has great service, great vibes, and delicious rich broth! Thick, juicy, and fall apart in your mouth pork belly! Flavorful marinated chasu! My personal favorite is the tan tan ramen. The broth is a creamy, rich, and wonderfully flavorful! The broth tastes kind of like spicy miso with a hint of coconut milk? Some kind of milk or creaminess is in the broth and it is so addicting to me. I can drink the broth on its own! The noodles are also perfectly cooked, the noodle itself has a fresh bouncy texture and taste! The waviness of the noodle also picks up the broth very well! The porkbelly bao is a 10/10 for me but FYI there is wasabi in it! I definitely didn't realize that but personally I can handle spice so it was fine for me. But just a warning if you can't handle the surprise heat! The porkbelly was huge and thick and so tender! I absolutely needed like 10 more of these. The karage is a great starter! Freshly fried and perfectly crispy! I believe they use chicken thigh so its very juicy and tender! I also enjoy the sweet and tangy glaze that they drizzle it in, I wish they coated the chicken in the sauce more evenly or gave us more sauce. WE have been to this place twice now. Located in the Hub hall right inside the TD garden it has a good vibe to it. The food is good. Chicken Wontons in that chili garlic oil is amazing and so is the Spicy vegan ramen with some extra toppings of mushrooms , bamboo shoots etc. WE also tried the friend chicken and it could be better if they gave smaller piece than large greasy mess. Not a big fan. Duck fries are really nice and so are the crispy Brussel sprouts. The drinks are good and pricey and really very small quantity iced up. That is the issue is the pricing is already up there and then the quantity of drinks are so small and also for ramen they only put couple toppings on it so you have to pay for extra which should already be on it. Stopped by for a quick lunch-just happened to be passing by. Our server was top notch-super friendly and attentive. The blueberry non alcoholic bevs were refreshing and the salmon avocado roll was a great start. I enjoyed a solid bowl of seaweed salad followed by salmon sashimi topped with ikura over rice. Salmon was excellent as was the ikura. The rice was not quite finished...I think they rushed to get this particular batch out (it was still very warm and didn't taste like sushi rice). I thought that a restaurant carrying Chef Morimoto's name should somewhat a good place to eat. However we are kind of disappointed. Tonkotsu ramen we ordered was not as good as we had in some other restaurants. First, it was much too salty to our taste. Also, our noodle was a little bit overcooked. Also, kakuni port in spicy Tonkotsu ramen was quite chewy. However, ajitama was very good. We also ordered sticky ribs, which was well done but the sauce was a little too sweet. This is a Japanese restaurant that caters to mostly westerners so the offerings are probably very Americanized. But, I love the setup. Convenient, clean, and the menu is very straightforward. They do a lot of business at this location so they are fast and efficient. Service was outstanding on our visit. We started with Seaweed Salad and a Spicy Tuna Roll as appetizer. Both were very good, but I especially liked the roll. It was beautiful, and the ingredients were fresh. For my entree I ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. The broth had a nice flavor. Initially it didn't seem spicy, but the spiciness snuck up on me. This bowl and would be perfect on a cold Boston day when you need a warm-me-up. Lots of potential, beautiful plating, mediocre food. My family and I had reservations on a Sunday afternoon and were hoping for a wonderful experience. The service was not great - the server seemed uninterested and inattentive - we had to flag her down every time. The space was mostly empty and we asked to be moved away from the drafty doors to a warmer section of the restaurant. We were moved but it was as if we were making an unreasonable request. We ordered a few appetizers and two entrees and my entree- Dan Dan noodles had a scoop of cold pork on top. It had no trace of being spicy or the promised Schzechuan tingle. Most of the food came to the table at a room temperature except the fries (which were outstanding). The Yuzu margarita was pretty good though I would likely choose something different next time. Pretty good place. If you are visiting and short on time, I would not put this on your bucketlist. But if you are staying near the area or work here, it is one of the better options. Drinks are not as expensive as the Seaport. The staff is great and the bar is super comfortable as it has bag hooks and a foot stool. I finally got to Iron Chef Morimoto's restaurant and try out his ramen! It was a rainy Sunday night but I scored free street parking and avoided paying a $20+ parking fee. More money for food! The decor of the restaurant was modern Japanese, with its simple lines and the tables were provided with an assortment of sauces to tickle your senses. The window seat was bright and airy. Note, upon entering, you agree to have any pictures of yourself to be used by the restaurant. The popcorn shrimp was fun to eat. The batter was light and crunchy to reveal a delicate shrimp inside. It was doused in a fun mildly spicy, gochujang aioli. The wontons were decent but the sesame chili oil sauce was good. I was expecting the wontons to be laid out flat and more delicate. But I came for the ramen and ordered the Tonkatsu and presentation was amazing! Their long strips of pork were coated with a a sauce that was then brushed giving it a striated look. The broth was rich and mild. The ramen itself was a curly yellow ramen that had good bite. I was still hungry even after all of this so I ordered one pork belly bao and it looked beautiful! There was no skimping on the pork belly in the soft warm bao. Needless to say, it was delicious and it was eaten in three bites. The manager, a woman with a friendly attitude came by and we talked about the Boston Ramen Crawl from this past December. I had told her that I finished eating at all 8 ramen shops and she said she'd do it next year. I'll be looking forward to that. I was really impressed with the food here, the sushi rice was the best I've ever tasted and I've eaten a lot of Japanese food. We had roasted brussel sprouts in soy sauce with parmesan cheese, an odd combination that works, soft shell crab bao buns, salmon poke bowl, spicy yellowtail roll --very spicy, and shrimp tempura roll with cucumber and avocado. We stopped in for ramen specifically and honestly the only down side was we both left hungry still. Kind of have Small portions. Definitely don't go in if you haven't ate yet. My husband and I got the pork dumpling which were good without the vinegar and green stuff that comes on top (it doesn't really give flavor besides mush so what's the point) other than the the dumplings were good besides the portion. We also got a the Tokyo Chicken ramen it was good husband said noodles were a bit undercooked but I thought they were fine. Maybe request a preference? The worker at checkout told me that if I ordered a poke bowl that it would take 25 minutes for them to make the rice, so I order ramen instead, but it STILL took 45 minutes. I literally saw people order and receive poke bowls in the time I was waiting. I should have just ordered poke to start. You can definitely tell that this was opened by an iron chef! Everything here from the food, drinks, and presentation were all top notch. For appetizers, we ordered the duck fat fries and the pork gyoza. The pork gyoza came out sizzling hot and then the server poured sauce and garlic on top which really elevated the taste of this dish. The duck fries tasted like regular fries to me. My friend got the Peking Duck which came with hoisin sauce, green onions, and wrapping. What really made this dish pop was that it came with a hot metal stone that you used to cook the duck more. For the entrees we ordered some of the ramen dishes and everyone loves their food. My friend and I came on a Friday around 5pm - I was pleasantly surprised that we were seated immediately. It was very full when we came - there was also a Celtics game happening so that may have been why. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and the crispy rice with spicy tuna. The aesthetics were on point, but the flavors didn't meet my expectations (especially given how much hype there is around Momosan). The crispy rice with spicy tuna wasn't very flavorful - I barely detected any spiciness that I was expecting from anything with spicy tuna. The crispy rice was a fun texture that made eating the dish an interesting experience. I was a little disappointed in the tonkotsu ramen. The entire dish was pretty bland/very mild in flavor. I also thought that the pork was sliced way more thinly than I've experienced in pork ramen dishes at other ramen restaurants. Don't get me wrong - the ramen was good, just not something I'd rave about or necessarily badger my friends to try. Overall, we had a decent experience. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive; the same is true with all the other waitstaff that we interacted with! Momosan is inside a food court, within The Garden, with their own dedicated space and tables. We had eel, yellow fin, and tempura shrimp rolls, sweet and sour chicken, pork dumplings, and fries. While the rolls were priced nicely, they were the size of a nickel, and the shrimp was more like shrimp jerky. It was fried past well-done. The dumplings were a little burned on the bottom but they were tasty. The fries and chicken were good and service was great. If we go back, we wouldn't order sushi. read more

Located in the Hub Hall at West End/North Station. I had the tonkatsu ramen and the tsukemen. Prices are average with other ramen places that I have ordered in the past. The chashu is very tasty and good size. The broth is cooked very well. Momosan Ramen is located right in front and you cannot miss it. I definitely want to try the peking duck next time as I have had it in his other restaurant in Disney Springs in Orlando, FL. Great service and just a good vibe. read more

Lemme start off by saying if I stopped going out to eat AND drink, I'd have so much more money saved. Unfortunately, the world didn't prepare for what I would do and order when I turned 21 and fortunately today I will be rating something from Momosan's drink menu. For a ramen place I was a bit perplexed on why they served sushi but despite craving sushi at the time, I leaned in and ordered a house classic - their ramen (obviously). WHAT I ORDERED: Spicy tan tan ramen (broth), Yuzu margarita Yuzu Marg: This first came out and costed $13, I'll be honest I would go again JUST for this drink. That's it. The way I inhaled this after only a 5 hour shift surprised me. First the salty rim hits you, then the rest is history. Blended with a nice sweet and sour flavor of yuzu, lime, and TEQUILAAAA this drink surely won me over as both refreshing and delicious. Bonus points for it being strong. (RATING: 8/10) Spicy tan tan: Next that came out was the main event babeyyyyy. But I was first surprised by one thing, despite the menu not mentioning cha shu pork - they served me one. single. slice. So I asked if I could have more and they thought I meant I wanted an extra portion. Thank goodness the pork was pretty good because I was charged $4 for that portion. But it's not worth it for a SLICE of meat. Alright enough of that, now onto everything else about the ramen. The broth was a nice sesame-y/nutty taste that wasn't too overpowering with spice but it sure was salty. Personally I'm a Pho girlie through and through due to my taste buds not being able to handle how salty ramen broth can get. (Don't worry ramen, I will still love you no matter what). The noodles were soft and not too chewy and their ajitama was a soft, umami flavor I appreciated. But I mean after that whole experience, walking out of it I didn't have the experience I would except. As people we eat with our eyes and despite the presentation being a great one, it was a little lacking. Nothing too memorable. In total I paid $20 for this due to the miscommunication of an extra portion of cha shu so really (16+4). Which in my opinion can be pretty overpriced for a bowl of ramen. (RATING: 4/10) FINAL VERDICT: I chose to go to Momosan for the second time again after almost a year because it was close to me at the time and I saw the convenience. I really loved the immersive atmosphere of Japanese decor and drinks mixed with the loudness of football games blaring from the food court television. Would I come again for a third time? It's leaning towards unlikely, unless I went with a group of friends. :) With that being said, thank you for the meal Momosan. read more
