Food is acceptable, but the absolutely rude lady who runs the place makes it not worth it to come by. Even via telephone order she rushes you off the phone, only to find at pick up there is absolutely no one in the restaurant. The food here is mediocre. I have enjoyed the teriyaki and katsu on occasion. However, the Pad Thai here is attrocious. You would never even guess that was supposed to be Pad Thai (granted, this is a Japanese and not a Thai restaurant). The Yaki Udon is also very poor and very soggy. The prices here, especially for lunch, are very reasonable. I've mostly had take-out from here and their times are never accurate. Allow plenty of time and do not order when you're hungry as the wait time is double what they say. The service when eating in is very slow and they have been rather rude. read more

I have been getting sushi from here since I moved to the area about four years ago...I've eaten inside a few times but usually get take-out. The half-price sushi menu is a great deal and the food is always ready quickly. Service isn't the best and they aren't always the nicest, but I just grab my food, pay, and go. The sushi was always fresh and delicious but recently the quality has gone downhill. The rolls are smaller and the fish definitely not as fresh. I have to say I'm a little disappointed because this was always my go-to place :( I'm going to give it one more chance but if the quality is poor again I'm going to have to find a new local sushi place. read more

I have to agree - Service, service, service = horrible. I ordered a lunch special and was charged full price. When I asked why I was charged full price I was told because I did't specify that I wanted the lunch special. I then asked what the difference between the lunch special and the regular order and was told there is no difference other then price. I told them I wasn't paying full price and that I am bringing my business somewhere else. Momotaro is not bad sushi. The lunch sushi or sashimi Special is a great value. However not in the Top Tier of sushi places. You will get good sushi. They typically only have the mainstream sushi. So update. Unlike some of the other customers, i found that the rolls were slightly less good than the fish itself. Those who complain about the "sushi" are typically complaining about the fish in particular, not the rice, but in this case, the rice itself isnt all that amazing, so I have to downgrade this place back to 4 stars. Regardless - i went back for Brunch this last time around and for $17, you get a choice of various rolls including 'special' rolls such as a dragon roll, rainbow roll, philly roll, etc - many of which would cost $8 to $12 anywhere else - and it is "all you can eat". My recommendations: the spicy tuna is NOTHING compared to Sushi Lounge on St. Mark's in NYC. The spicy tuna there is very savory and you can taste both it and the rice at once (and theirs is nice and fat, unlike Momotaro's...or most everyone else's for that matter) The tempura is good, the dragon and rainbow rolls are fine (the fish on top is far thinner than their Chirashi though. Avoid the spicy rolls, just cause they aren't very savory - neither is their rice. I'm picky about where I get eel, so I didn't feel i wanted to try an eel roll. Although you can eat as much as you'd like (i could only eat 3 and a half rolls before being completely full :P) i still have to say the Chirashi gave me a better experience. Another important thing is Soy Sauce. Theirs isnt kikoman, either - its a (not as salty as Aloha Bento) very salty and poor quality soy sauce. I would like a low sodium option so i could taste my food without blowing up like a balloon from sodium shock. Lastly, it is a very casual dining spot - supposedly they used to be very fancy, but they're in the middle of Clark - there's nothing but a couple of buildings in an industrial complex nearby and elizabeth/roselle down the road - not much in the way of high class folks. I can't expect them to stick to their original business model of traditional wear if they were forced to take in people wearing t-shirts as their bulk customers. read more

We've been coming here for years and the sushi is always fresh - meanwhile they know us and try to expedite our order a bit. Also their sweet lady roll is awesome. Lately I have been having their pork katsu and it's pretty good when you want to try something different.
