I only gave it 2 stars because the food is good. The lady who serves is very rude and does not crack a smile at all. We ordered Gyoza one beef and one shrimp and one comes out pan fried and the other fried, when they should have been pan fried. I do not like Miso soup so she said she would give me the clear soup for a $1 extra, but it was not good at all. Then I ordered Spicy Tuna roll with crunch. I did not get any crunch with it. When the bill came she charged $2 extra for the crunch. I told her it was not in the sushi at all. she argues that it was put inside the roll and she watched him make it. I understand fully that yesterday was Mother's Day, but have the courtesy to be truthful. When at 7:05 PM to pick up an order that was placed at 5:50 PM (we were told "a little after 7), there were about 8-10 people spaced between each other waiting for orders. There was one lady who questioned "why are you lying to people? Just tell the truth and we'll come back." Her money was refunded and the young lady said she's a regular, but her and her family would not return. She continued to tell people their orders were almost ready and CONTINUED TO TAKE NEW ORDERS! At 8:09 PM, she told me that my food was "almost ready". At 8:48 PM, I finally left with my order. I lived 5 minutes away. I could've gone home and returned later. If I knew our food wasn't going to be ready on time, we would've eaten elsewhere. She was apologetic and offering free sodas, but not exactly a consolation for spending almost two hours on Mother's Day waiting for dinner. read more

Got takeout from them a few times but it's really not impressive. There are several better sushi places in Clark so you should consider those first. One thing that always annoyed me besides the average rolls was that they would charge extra for a cup of spicy mayo if you asked for that. Most if not all places just give you that little cup instead of charging you a buck. It's the little things that separate the ok places from the good ones. HORRIBLE in every way. I was 1 of 2 tables, which should have been an indication from the start, and yet still the service was terrible. It was nearly impossible to get water refilled and when the extremely rude waitress finally made her way over to our table, she only refilled 1 glass and not both. Now onto the food - the edamame was overlooked and soggy (how can you mess that up) and same for the spring rolls. The tuna roll was tough and more like beef carpaccio than fish and king crab roll was so fishy that it was inedible. When we explained this to the waitress, she kept asking if we wanted to bring our leftovers home (duh) and kept insisting that the tuna was purchased that day and she had the receipt. The woman who runs it is SO rude you would think it is impossible for someone to be that way. But she is and she's terrible. Rushes you. Stares at you. Doesn't give you time to look at the menu. Gets mad and gives you actual attitude if you are not ready to order instantly after sitting down. On top of that don't fall for her "soup ah salad?" Trick. She makes it sound like it comes with your meals then you get the bill and charged for it. On top of that service is slow and basically non existent, until they're ready to give you the check. She "yeah's" you to death when you order, doesn't ask if you need anything and makes you wait for the check while she plays on her phone. ONE HOUR....for UNCOOKED sushi!! I went her with my husband on a Friday night. I ordered a sushi bar entree which the menu says comes with soup and salad. I mentioned this to the waitress and she looked at me and asked, you want soup and salad? Like this was a ridiculous request. Yes I do, it's what I'm paying for! Ordering was slow, and once we finally placed our order, it took an hour to get our sushi! When our food finally arrived after an hour and a bottle of wine, there was no apology for the long wait. The sushi chefs were working non stop, which makes me think they have a huge take out business and ignore customers who dine in. Totally disgusted!! Ordered take out..sushi & aged tofu with seaweed toppimg. The hostess was rude and when we got home and looked at the tofu, the seaweed topping was moving!!! We called and spoke to the rude women and told her i think there is worms on my tofu. She said no no , its seaweeed..its very good. I said nooooo....its MOVING like WORMS!!! She did not want to here that ...kept saying it was good. Never, never again will i eat there. Really excellent food- My husband had 2 different kinds of sushi rolls, and I had chicken yaki udon. Service was very prompt, and all the waiters were attentive (e.g. refilling the water glasses practically every five minutes, it was great). This is the second time we have eaten here, and the staff were much more friendly and smiling than the first time. Everytime we come we wait over 15 minutes just to have someone take our drink order and thats typically after we appoach someone, the food takes forever and the hostess doesn't smile, AT ALL!!! My best friend and I would always resort to this restaurant mainly for the half price menu. We would go pretty regularly, however, every time we went we had an awkward experience with the owner. She is so weird and really has no people skills whatsoever. She leaned over me while I was eating to turn the "open" sign off, she constantly calls if you're barely late to pick up your food, and she argues with you while you're trying to make an order over the phone. I've been coming here for years. The sushi rolls are always good quality, the California Tempura is a nice delight from the Half Price menu - 8 pieces. They have the best fried rice around. The tempura ice cream is a nice dessert option, very hard to find that in other restaurants. I expierenced an authentic japanese sushi dish. The poeple were nice and cordial. Didn't have to wait long at all for my food. The food was over the top. I've come here a few times before, and have just about had it with coming here. The first time I came here was somewhat pleasant, but as I came back other times, the quality of my service declined drastically each and every time. The lady that owns the place is completely rude, cuts you off when you're talking and always thinks she's right. She gets orders wrong and misunderstands you and tells you that it is your fault for not knowing what you're talking about. The sushi that I have received in the past has been rotten fish and smelled very old, and is more rice than anything else. The worst is finding hair all in the sushi, which crossed the line for me. The place stunk like a dirty seafood restaurant mixed with a tanning salon? Owner greeted me, asked me what I wanted to drink. I ordered a beer she told me "no liquor license". However, the 2 tables next to me and the couple at the sushi bar were drinking sake? She recommended the iced tea? 1 minute later she wanted to take my order. I always check the quality of a sushi restaurant by the SASHIMI not the funky mayo covered rolls. The owner told me NOT to order sashimi but tried to get me to buy 3, $14.00 rolls? I argued with her and told her I only wanted 2 of them. She then tried to force me into a soup and salad. No thanks lady. Sushi came, it tasted allright but funky mayo makes styrofoam taste good. Fish was very low quality and the hamachi was seared b/c they either can't get fresh fish or can't keep it fresh very long. Long story short, I got my bill and she charged me for an ice tea refill? Im giving this place 2 stars because its food is decent and the restaurant is nicely decorated. My last and final experience at this place-- i ordered my food for pickup at 7:15, i arrived to momotaro at 7:45, i stood next to the register for about 15 minutes until the woman(possibly the owner) thats always at the register comes over and says "they are making it" since she knows i order the same thing to go all the time. Another 15 minutes later my food is finally ready but the woman decides to organize her receipts instead, fully aware that I've been waiting for close to 30 min for my food -- I honestly should have left. The customer service at this place is probably reasonable when its not for pick-up/dealing with her. I will not be returning to this place again. This wasn't the first time this has happened. Fortunately this isn't the only sushi place in the area anymore - id recommend checking out avenue east in cranford, asian taste in clark, sweet basil in clark or the pizzeria across the street instead. read more
