My friends and I were walking around Fresh Farm Outlet next door when we stumbled upon this bakery. They not only have the usual Chinese pastries prepackaged but also a decent variety of dim sum, drinks, and boxes of cereal of all things. Since we just had lunch, we picked up a few sweets like taro pastries (芋頭酥) as well as some little chicken cookies (鸡仔饼). Then we noticed they also had egg waffles (雞蛋仔) and had to order some. It was about a ten- minute wait, and the smells coming from the waffle iron made me drool. Everything tasted great and at a decent price, as well as the fact that the women behind the counter were friendly and welcoming. On top of that, there is plenty of parking at this plaza. My mom and I went to Mom's Bakery because we were actually looking for Momo Bakery...and my mom was convinced she knew where Momo Bakery was. Since we were short on time, we decided to get our baked goods from here. My parents have been to this bakery several times since the usual go-to bakery Happy Bakery shut down. It was my first time going. This bakery had the usual Hong Kong style baked breads -- BBQ pork buns, dinner rolls, taro bread, egg tarts, sliced bread loaves, etc. There are trays and tongs you can use to hold your baked goods as you shop around. I bought some egg tarts to try. The egg tarts are delicious and probably one of the better ones I've tried. The egg tart crust is made is the same kind that is typically used to make fruit tarts (which I personally like). It isn't flaky or crispy, but does hold it's shape well. The custard is nice and creamy. There is a cake layer between the custard and the tart in some of the egg tarts I ate. The only thing I wish is that there was a bit more custard filling to even out the tart crust. Overall, I'd still come back to fill my egg tart craving, although I'm still on the search for the best egg tart. They have a small area with discounted bread/baked goods (probably from the day before). They accept credit cards and share a parking lot with a market and several smaller shops. Cute small hole in the wall. Affordable and great. I got the pork green onion bread and it was amazing along with the blueberry bread. The blueberry bread is super soft and the blueberry flavor isnt too much. It felt like i was being held by someone while biting it. I also got the popcorn chicken and my lord it was amazing. For the price of 6 bucks you get a good portion and the flavor is amazing. I got mild and it was super good and tender also freshly made. DELICIOUS EGG TARTS and fresh pastries!!!! This bakery is a true hidden gem. It makes me so sad to know I only recently discovered it down the street from my office. But since I discovered it, I've already been back twice this week. Everything tastes fresh, and they do sell out pretty quick so come in the AM for the freshest batch! Location: In the same plaza as the Great China Buffet and BMC. You can't miss it! Parking: Shares the parking lot with the rest of the plaza which is plentiful. Street parking is also an option so there's never a problem. Service: Came around noon and aside from the cashier, the only other people there was a couple. The guy behind the counter was busy fixing up drinks or something and didn't really pay attention to the customers but whatever, just like a typical Asian bakery you just browse around the few selections they have out. All in all, service was alright. Not spectacular but not horrendous either. Food: I got the hot dog bun, which tasted like how most Asian bakeries make them, nothing special. The tuna and cheese bun was surprisingly soft however I didn't really taste any cheese. Lastly, the milky custard was better than I expected, unlike most places the custard didn't taste eggy at all. From what I see, they're baked freshly as well. Price: Prices are similar to 85° Bakery but if you come now during their grand opening, all the pastries are $1! I've been coming here since it opened for their yummy cupcakes (me and my mom's favorite). Recently I had a chance to order a cake for my son's birthday, so of course I stopped by. They happened to have some cake samples, and I tried the carrot cake. Not many asian bakeries make a decent carrot cake, but this one was moist and flavorful. They were very flexible about the design and decorations and the price was very reasonable. Many people commented at his birthday on how good the cake was, so I was pretty pleased. The thing to remember about this place is that their cakes are all lower sugar. That really fits my palate because I find a lot of other bakeries put too much sugar in their goods. If you're looking for something more savory and less sugary, this place is the way to go. read more

On my way to home and work, it's in the same plaza as China Great Buffet and BMC Pho. They advertise as having less sweet cakes. Having tried one of their chocolate and fruit cakes, that is true, it's not too sweet, although I prefer fruit only on top of a cake and not in the layers. They also sell egg tarts, they are decent, not as good as say, from a dim sum place. There is a sparse selections of breads to be found and picked. The breads there are pretty fresh and soft. My favorite is the cream bun that has a raisin in it. I don't like having a coconut mess so this one already gains points for that, the bread and cream are both pretty great. There's also a coffee cream bun, a durian cream, and 1 other I can't remember. It is disappointing that they only seem to make 2 cream buns of each type so in the afternoon they are already gone, but they are worth it. 4 stars for the cream buns. Their bobas are Buy 1 regular get another 50% off, I'm assuming because the BMC nearby advertises their boba buy 1 for $3 get 1 free. I've tried the regular milk tea and the sea salt cream. The regular was sweet but couldn't really taste the tea. The sea salt was sweet but only mildly salty, already mixed, I prefer a bit more salt in my sea salt drink. I've tried their fried popcorn chicken, it was alright. Seemed more breaded than meat, but I might try it again. Services is friendly, few tables, but free wifi. I was so excited to see an Asian bakery had just opened close to home! I usually have to drive to Rosemead/San Gabriel for my pastry fixes but Mom's is located in a plaza just a few blocks from me. They have a good selection of bread and specialty small cakes, as well boba/teahouse snacks. They have some specials listed by the cashier and posted on their windows. I usually get pineapple bread anywhere I go, and theirs is pretty good. Honestly, I'm not even sure if there's any pineapple in it or if it's just called that because the crust on top kind of looks like pineapple skin but it's really tasty. However, every single time I've come here, I've bought pastries to sample, only to go home and find out that they were misplaced or mislabeled! I've bought a wife cake only for it to be a mung bean cake, a red bean bun only for it to be a taro one, and a taro bun only for it to be a durian bun! Luckily, I'm used to durian, but I'm really glad I didn't offer it to my other half before I tried it, because he really, really dislikes durian. The last time I went, I tried to double check with the person working there to see if what I was holding was what I wanted to buy. He said it was, but it still ended up being a different pastry. The first time I ordered delivery from this place, I thought the food was mediocre. But the Takoyaki was AMAZING. Now I ordered 3 orders of takoyaki, milk tea /w boba and also popcorn chicken. It totaled to about 28 bucks. It was NOT worth 28 bucks. The popcorn chicken needed more flavoring and were just...lets just say I tasted better. The boba milk tea is the only reason it got a 2 star. The takoyaki...I am very disappointed. The first time around it was good, outside is crispy but not burnt and also plenty of sauce and additions on top...this time? It was burnt-ish outside and there were a DROP of sauce on each takoyaki. It was NOT ENOUGH, there were barely any additional toppings on top. Just compared to the ones I received when I first ordered, these were just crap. I cant believe I ordered 3 orders of them, such a waste of money. My sister in law didnt like them very much either.
