Have you ever had food that surprised you? Something that you didn't recognize but once you started eating couldn't stop. That's what dinner is like at Moms Dishes. When you walk in you think that everything is primarily to go which looks like a lot of their business. Once you find a seat you get a large menu that's posted above the to go area and to your right on a rotating screen. We ordered two dishes that were delicious, the special pho with beef and Mom's Special. Mom's Special was definitely the favorite. Egg roll, shrimp, roasted pork and egg noodles (cold). It's served over bean sprouts with a sweet chili sauce. This dish hits all your taste buds. Yakima needs variety. I'm excited to try other dishes soon. read more

Took my kids so they could try something different than Mc D's At first they were not sure, but they loved it and asked to come again. Food was great and the service was great. Made sure that the kids had kid chops sticks and extra bowls to split their pho. Everything seemed super clean and fresh! read more

(11/9/2025) We were passing through Yakima and craving pho, and this spot had great reviews, so we decided to stop by. I really do understand the challenges of running a family business -- everyone pitches in, the hours are long, and it's a lot of work -- so my feedback comes from the perspective of hoping it can be helpful. Service & Atmosphere * The interior is clean and modern, which we appreciated. * The setup initially made it look like we should order at the counter, but when we went up, we were kindly told to grab a seat instead. * We ordered one pho and one banh mi. There were at least six people working and only about four tables occupied, so we were a bit surprised that it took longer than expected for our food to arrive. * The staff seemed quite busy, and we didn't experience much warmth or friendliness during our visit (no smiles or casual check-ins). * One staff member checked on us before our food arrived, but after the dishes came out, no one came by to see how everything was or for water refills. * Check-out is at the counter, which is confusing. * I understand space is limited and family members need breaks, but two people were watching videos on their phones at a fairly loud volume near us. Normally this wouldn't bother us much, but the videos had a lot of loud laughing, and they were on at full volume, which made it a bit hard to relax and enjoy our meal. Food I'm not sure if this is a different regional style of Vietnamese food or a unique take, but it was quite different from what I'm used to. * The pho, for me, lacked depth of flavor. It basically was a bowl of hot water with MSG. I didn't taste any beef bone broth, so I ended up using quite a bit of sriracha and hoisin to add more flavor. 1/5 * The menu mentioned cilantro, but our bowls came with green onions instead and no cilantro. Big deal! * I ordered a large pho, and the portion felt closer to what I'd consider a regular size elsewhere. * The pork banh mi was okay, but it didn't have the charred, grilled flavor I usually associate with this sandwich. Again, it was topped with green onions instead of cilantro. 3/5 * Prices felt higher than what I'm used to in Seattle and Bellevue: the large pho was around $19, and the banh mi was about $15. I recognize there aren't many Asian or pho options in the area so I can understand why this place is popular. Unfortunately, it just didn't quite match what we typically look for in pho and banh mi. read more

I came at lunch time, which tables were filling up quickly. Coming back to Yakima, I noticed this new shop that served Vietnamese food. Every 6 months or so I visit Yakima. There's been only a few Vietnamese restaurants I've found in the city. The wait staff was pleasant, attentive, checked on me and asked if the food was good. Parking is a little tight due to a shared parking lot with the coffee shop next door. Restaurant was clean, modern display signs for menu and food. Besides not having the usual cilantro and basil with the pho, not too biggie of a deal. I found the broth very beefy with umami flavors before adding Siracha and Hoisin Sauce. The various beef slices of brisket were tender, beef rib was tender, and the meatball texture... splendid! I could tell the meatballs were made in house. Overall very good pho soup. Came by for some dinner on a cold winter night and what better than some Pho! There was parking in front, which is really convenient and once you walk inside, it's brightly lit, and a large space. You can either order to go or dine in. We dine in for a table of two. We ordered a Thai tea drink while we waited for our food items to arrive. We got the mix vermicelli, special bowl and the Mom special pho. Both of which were large portions and super tasty. If you're coming here for the first time, I would definitely recommend these items as they're great starters. For two people it was more than enough food but we were able to finish everything. We were passing through Yakima and needed a quick spot to grab a late lunch. My husband and I ordered the grilled chicken and grilled pork banh mi, along with egg rolls and crab wontons. We were blown away by the flavor of the banh mi and the generous amount of meat in each sandwich. I especially appreciated that they included pâté--it's something we rarely find in the more "toned down" versions of Vietnamese food we're used to in the Snoqualmie Valley. Would probably not order the egg rolls or crab wontons again. My husband crab wontons but no matter where we go I think it's too much cream chase and barely any imitation crab. The sauce that came with both seemed a bit watered down and the egg rolls lacked the seasoning I'm accustomed to when making egg rolls at home. To-go ordering was quick and while we wanted food on the go, the banh mis were so filling that we ended up eating half in the parking lot and saving the other half for dinner. read more

The young gents and I had a rare dude evening when our matriarch was at a church event one random Wednesday. We had heard about this spot and decided it was time to check it out! It's Located on the corner of first and mead, in the same building as Inaba coffee. The set up here is very nice. It's a cute little restaurant with lots of seating and a very comfortable atmosphere. The service was very quick. You order at a counter and then they bring you your food and grab drinks, and what not. The food options. Here are quite solid. They've got tons of noodle dishes, some great sandwiches, and they even have Vietnamese bao! we ended up ordering way more food than we needed, including a number of different bao, delicious Bahn Mi sandwich, and some spring rolls and a really nice vermicelli noodle dish. Everything was very very good! The surprise hit, however, was the sandwich! The meat was juicy, crispy and flavorful. The bread was and delicious, and the whole thing was just magic! We had heard good things about here, and our experience was as good as we had hoped for. This is definitely a great addition to, the area! read more

Food Was great. There is a LOT to choose from and it all looked delicious. We got a bowl and Pho, and wontons and a bao bun. Let me tell you, the wontons were some of the best Ive ever had. The Bao bun was good, but not anlot of flavor. The bowl was decent, the moms special pho was bland and mest was rubbery, but it hit the spot after it was doctored up. The service was great and we'll likely be back to try other things on menu. Absolutely 100% recommend the wontons. read more

The food was excellent, and the service was friendly. We enjoyed it a lot. The prices were high, which is to be expected in Yakima, I guess. That and the slightly cold, hard and bright feel of the dining room itself are my only reasons for a four star review. The big screens playing food preparation were interesting, but give off a fast food vibe. We did like it, and we will come back to try more. Food.- I was craving Pho and thank God the other place was closed and forced me to look for a different restaurant, I ordered Mom's Pho plate, it was by far one of best pho I had, the broth was rich in flavor, protein portions was more than expected, overall a good dish, second plate was fried rice again protein portion was great and flavorful. Service.- waitress was nice and professional, don't expect a perfect english when you are in authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Love it! 2nd time ever being here, I don't remember it being so hot inside tho. Food is served really hot too. The spring rolls taste so fresh and the peanut sauce served with it is warm. Get the potstickers pan fried, they are really good. They put a wide variety of condiments on the table, which is nice. Service is, meh. Food came out randomly and one of us had their food a good 4-5 minutes before the other, which is a little awkward for us. Prices are a little high, but the quality makes it worth it. Upscale and very nice atmosphere. Staff is so kind. Very fair prices on things. Not a crazy huge menu, which I believe makes everything else better. I ordered the mango smoothie and crispy pork bahn mhi. It was very delicious. Large portion as well. I'm coming back!   The Food:  Our party of four enjoyed our meals, though some more than others.  I enjoyed the Banh Hoi which was served on one plate.  The vermicelli was awesome - not individual noodles, but rather small square mats of noodles.  The  pork sausage and grilled pork had great flavor; and the veggies were fresh and crisp.  Husband ordered the Special Vermicelli Bowl which was served in a good sized deep bowl.  His bowl contained vermicelli noodles, grilled shrimp,  shrimp paste sausage, grilled pork, and crispy veggies.  He thought it was terrific.  Friend One ordered the Vietnamese Pan-Style Sandwich - this meal took up a lot of table surface - the hot components arrived on double plate, one being what looked to be cast iron.  This plate held the meat, a sunnyside up egg, and a wedge of cream cheese.  A separate plate held lettuce and greens.  Lastly there was a basket with a baguette.  Friend One liked her meal but it was not a Wow for her.  She used the baguette to sop up the juices/egg on the hot plate.  Friend Two's meal was a Meh for him.  He ordered the Bahn Xeo with shrimp which did not fill him up and was bland.  We all thought the crepe pancake was a thin omelette, but actually it has no egg (rice flour, turmeric, coconut cream, and other flavors).  The pancake was on one plate and a separate plate held lettuce and greens.  He was glad he had also ordered a Bao Bun which he said was good. The Restaurant:  Spacious, clean, bright, and not loud.  I thought the handwashing station was a thoughtful touch.  There were two entries into the parking lot which were somewhat awkward depending on the direction.  Parking in the lot was easy.   The Service:   Here's where I have to recap several shortcomings.  Service was spotty but friendly.  Our order was taken at the table.  Each meal was delivered as it was prepared.  After receiving our dinners we were left on our own.  There were no water refills, no 'is everything okay' checks, and no bill presentation.  After we realized the bill was not coming to the table, one of us walked up to the counter to pay.  The result of having to do this is an excellent example of why a bill should be presented at the table.  We were charged for the wrong table and since we didn't have the opportunity to review the bill as a group, we trusted the staff to get it right.  Once a staff member discovered the error, it was a lengthy process to reverse the charge and recalculate the bill.  So please Mom, consider changing the way your patrons settle their bills. read more

Went for the soft opening. The food was very delicious and the staff was very accommodating of someone who had an allergy and informing what could and could not be modified. The food comes out in a more "to-go" style and not plated. Only items i saw that came out in an actual dish was noodle and pho orders which seemed to be large portions. Waters came out in a bottle with a cup of ice. The inside is very bright and the whole feng shui was very nice. A nice touch I noticed was off to the side there was a sink in the eating area dedicated to being able to wash one's hands before eating. Our first time here. We have eaten at many Vietnamese places around the United States. This the best spring roll and dipping sauce, the noodle salad , beef was very delicious. The servings large. Well went back got the grilled pork noodle dish and the grilled meatballs and the spring rolls. The pork noodle salad was ok the pork could have had better flavor the meatballs was ok too kinda pricey for what you get. My wife ate the spring rolls she liked them a lot.
