Such an eclectic place for brunch . Style and decor was very 90s inspired . They were even playing Thomas the Train on the big screens . Astoria is a place filled with hidden gems/restaurants but Moms Kitchen is an already known hot spot. I was always told to expect to wait so I was hesitant in coming but we came on a cloudy/rainy Saturday afternoon around 2pm and we were able to get seated right away! We ordered 2 iced coffees, pancake burrito, woodland omelette and a side of bacon. It came out real quick and it satisfied my hunger. We saw people ordering mimosas and they were massive! Although we didn't drink I'd definitely come back and have a boozy brunch. I don't think we'll get seated right away next time but I will definitely be back! read more

This place is worth the wait. They do not take reservation so you have to be at the restaurant to join the wait list. On a busy weekend the waitlist is around 1 hour. I went to both the Manhattan and Astoria location the food was amazing. However the menu is a bit different. I would totally come back for brunch and try new food. Went for Saturday brunch for a party of 2 ~12:00PM. We were promptly put on the waitlist since Mom's gets incredibly busy for weekend brunch and ended up waiting about 25 minutes before being seated. There's indoor, bar seating, outdoor (under an awning) and outdoor (makeshift enclosure, heated). Chicken and bacon waffles are always superb, the shrimp and grits were delicious. I didn't grab a photo, but the giant chocolate, nutella, something something milkshake was SO good (with a shot of baileys +$7). The seasonal drink (a cranberry, fruity drink) is incredibly strong and comes in a hilarious 250 mL IV pouch (fully functioning clamp btw for my healthcare folks out there, ). 10/10 would recommend! I've been there twice and the food was good. I got the mac and cheese pancakes the first time and then the chicken and waffles the second. Both were great, however the "sauce" thats drizzled was very similar if not identical. Not a problem by any means since it's delicious. But would love to see some variety. Since NYC is under a state of emergency I figure what better time to write a review for my new favorite place to go. I just moved to Astoria not too long ago and was told by many Astorians that this was the place to go when you want eatttttt. Last weekend I went for brunch and got the chicken and waffles (minus the bacon bits and cheesy sauce) and then came again for dinner this past week (I got the crispy chicken and gravy with the Mac and carrots for my sides). I tried the adult Capri sun and the dirty Shirley temple and was very pleased. The wait staff and bartenders are lovely and I love the vibes in this place. I was excited to try Moms since I Love Halsey's so much. I ordered the Mac and cheese pancakes . Let's just say it was Awful. I sent the order back politely because it was not edible. Something I hate to do. The server spoke to her manager and they laughed it off. The response was that they would charge me half of the order because I had eaten " a good amount". (3 bites ) This is horrible management and customer service. It was the indifference and lack of service recovery that stunned me. I was treated as is I was trying to get over. I gladly paid the $10 for the meal and I will gladly Never return. I used to love Mom's. It actually was a must have place for brunch or fun drinks. It was always pricey but I got k Dr that because the staff was great and the food was really good but I just went back recently and I was pretty disappointed. BUT I think I may have came at a bad time? I've had the chicken bacon waffle before and it was great but I'm guessing they received complaints about having the entire ordered covered with cheese sauce so they've opted to giving it to you in a cup? Either way it definitely took away from the presentation which Mom's always has done s phenomenal job at. The waffle I had wasn't very fresh and neither was the bacon. The cup of cheese was just like warm. I left with my fiancé asking "dang that was kinda odd today?" Maybe it was a bad day. I'd gladly update this review next time I go if I have a better time. 3.5 stars I decided to come here for brunch after seeing that it was a pretty popular spot. There is definitely great decor inside but it's pretty small. The tables also felt pretty squished. I came with a party of 5 so we had to wait a little over an hour before we got seated. They do take down a name and a phone number so you can wander around before the table is ready. After being seated and placing our order, it took about another hour before the food even came out. My friends and I got several items on their brunch menu. The portions were decent and the food was good. The return of the mac seemed to be a popular item on the menu but it was pretty small and wasn't as cheesy as I expected it to be. The chicken and waffles was great. The waffle was very fluffy and the chickens were fried well. They also have excellent texas toast which I got to try with the tex benedict. It also had brisket which was tender but still didn't pull apart nicely. Overall, the food was alright but the service was too slow so I would not return. read more

My friends and I (group of 13) visited Mom's Kitchen for brunch on Saturday. If you're with a big group of people like I was, I recommend going there right at the opening at 9 am - we had no problem getting seats outside. I haven't been here until then but it was fun to see all the different food my friends ordered. Mom's Kitchen offers dishes that have childhood comfort food vibes with a grownup twist (like spiked capri sun). There were crazy stuff like mac and cheese pancakes which no one from our group was feeling adventurous enough to try. I got the chicken and waffles because I simply was craving waffles for far too long. The waffles came with spicy maple syrup and cheese sauce. I liked the cheese sauce on top of the chicken but the spicy syrup was a bit weird and I didn't really enjoy it. The waffle and the chicken was good. Staff were friendly and very attentive. She asked if I wanted the sauce/syrup on the side as I was ordering and was too lazy to ask to get them on the side (I was really glad that I got them separate later). The worst Bloody Mary of my life, the "candied bacon" was a piece of old bacon covered in raw brown sugar, with chunks of the sugar mixing in the drink. We returned & once seated we order drinks I tried the Campfire Cutie I must say it was great, loved the taste good on the alcohol hubby had the Cinnaboozy Latte decent as well. Appetizers we tried the Buffalo Mac & Cheese balls, yumm they were so good. I had the Waffle Taco this was good, great tasting waffle, plenty of eggs, cheese good sausage & home fries. Also tried Pancake Burrito lordd all mighty this thing is hugeee easily feeds 2 people interesting combo here it was good. Tex Benedict tried this a previous time very good, great Side of Bacon since it's that thick cut style delicious! Located on a busy but not the main thoroughfare, its perfectly situated in a residential neighborhood to serve both locals and newcomers alike. The menu here is comfort food all the way but with its own take. Pancakes, fried chicken and waffles, avocado toast are all on menu for diners to try. We got the avocado toast revamped with brisket (kind of like eggs benedict) as well as the steak and eggs (surprisingly tender and flavorful). Both dishes were scrumptious and highly recommended. Service here is excellent - friendly and fast. Prices are fair. I will say that due to COVID, the outdoor dining area is huge and beautifully done. I hope the enclosure stays since the actual restaurant is tiny. Who says the pandemic doesn't have some unintended benefits? Thumbs up big time. read more

Pretty decent spot. Honestly I was kind of expecting more but the food didn't blow me away. We ordered the Bedrock pancakes and the Chicken and Bacon Waffles which seem to be two of their most popular menu items. The Bedrock pancakes were extremely sweet. They were pretty thin pancakes too which I wasn't a huge fan of since I prefer fluffier pancakes. Now I'm a huge fan of chicken and waffles but their version were just okay. The chicken was kind of dry and was pretty hard to cut. I had to drench it with the sauce lol. On a positive note, the food came very quickly and the service was decent. Our server was kind of awkward but I guess she was nice. Overall, I don't really foresee myself craving this spot much. read more
