After visiting Mackinac island , the island with no automobile, only bicycles & Horse carriages, stop by Detroit to see Robocop statue then grab a bite at Moms Spaghetti, was lucky to find parking at the meter cause the tigers had an early game . Eating at Moms Spaghetti reminded me of cafeteria food at a low/ reasonable price , price won't break your wallet , fast services after placing the order, I had to order one of each plus their garlic breads. Kids will enjoy it a simple menu. . After ordering at the side window, you can' go inside and eat your meal, after that you can visit Em's Memorabilia room & purchase merchandise's .
Try: Spaghetti w/ Balls! Why: Solid Spaghetti with 5 or so medium sized meatballs, Parmesan cheese, and garlic bread. Takeout box in a brown bag ready to eat! You order outside at window in side alley and enjoy meal inside. Upstairs has an Eminem museum, which was really neat to walk through. Note: I came for a late lunch around 1:30pm on the weekend. There were a couple people in front of me ordering so did not take long. After I ordered it was ready within minutes and I took my meal inside. Spacious interior with many tables and booths for small and large parties.
I was in Detroit so of course I had to stop at Eminem's spot or mom's spot don't even know which one. Anyway, it's a short menu, spaghetti with meat balls, spaghetti bolognese and vegan. They also have spaghetti sandwiches. The staff was nice, the Trailer was cool to see some of Eminem's memorabilia. As far as the food, it tastes like regular spaghetti that you make at home. Well no not my spaghetti cuz it has a little more flavor. But it's like regular home spaghetti. If you're going expecting great spaghetti go somewhere else, if it's on your bucket list then go ahead and visit the food wasn't bad at all, just not great. I'm actually happy I went.
I would have given this 3.5 stars if I could. What held me back, was the limited menu, and The taste itself not really wow'ing me with anything unique or above-average. However, the limited menu makes ordering super simple, and I think in terms of value, it's actually pretty reasonable. A cool concept for sure, in that you order at this little outdoor window and then if you really need you have the option of going inside to sit afterwards. Although there was no one at the window for us and we had to get someone from the inside to get someone out there.
I had to try Mom's Spaghetti while in Detroit -- hype and all -- and I'm glad I did. I ordered the large bolognese, which came with bread and a soda for $15, and the portion was more than generous. Yes, you order at the walk-up window (and yes, I waited in the cold ), but it was totally worth it. The sauce was flavorful, comforting, and hit exactly the way you want a classic bolognese to hit. Nothing overcomplicated -- just solid, satisfying pasta that actually fills you up. I went in curious and left pleasantly surprised. If you're in Detroit and debating whether to try it, I'd say go for it at least once -- especially if you're already in the area or a fan of the story behind it.
Such a great check off bucket list. First time visiting Detroit and of course I had to try this iconic place. Got the s'ghetti special which is spaghetti in a sandwich. This was definitely my first time trying it and I would describe it as eating spaghetti with garlic bread. Nothing super special with the taste, but the experience definitely made it worthwhile. You order outside of the window and have the option to go inside and dine in or grab and go! Either way, this is definitely a must stop when visiting Detroit!

I came in the door, I said it before, I never let the menu magnetize me no more. But it's bitin' me, fightin' me, invitin' me to grind. I can't hold it back, I'm looking for the line... I recently travelled over 2,000 miles from L.A. to eat here this month, on a weekday around 3pm. No huge crowds, thank goodness. None of my other heroes back home in Califas would feed me, so I had to trudge to Eminem's joint to give it a shot. It's interesting to consider that all the talent in California like King Tee, Tha Alcoholiks, Toddy Tee, Ice Tee, Ice Cube, Too Short, DJ Quik, WC(dub-c), Mack 10, Kam, Above the Law, The Game, MC Eiht, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Cypress Hill, or The Pharcyde have yet to open a food establishment of their own. I believe Kid Frost may have had a place at one time, however, it closed down before I could eat there. Eminem is pulling it off in his home town and I believe that is something to celebrate! It is a true miracle for any artist to make a living from what they create. Eminem not only accomplished this as an artist, he also created something from an idea of his, that now employees others from the Detroit area. How freakin incredible is that shit! An artist that is in a position to give something back to his community is a big deal. These are what everyday miracles look like my friends. Art has purpose and meaning for the world to enjoy. Culinary art is just another example. Mom's Spaghetti is really reasonably priced. The only place I've ever been to where the spaghetti is this cheap was in Rome, Italy. I'd much rather come to Detroit again than jump on a 12 hour flight to Italy. To each their own. My wife and I enjoyed the limited menu here. I ate the spaghetti with meatballs, the bolognese sandwich, and the spaghetti with bolognese. It's comfort food with fresh ingredients served hot and quickly. No complaints from me. I knew the food might be on the mild side so I stopped at Kroger or Meijer and picked up some Serrano peppers to liven up my meal. The chilis made it all pop just right. Mom's Spaghetti tastes good and is three or four notches above Olive Garden or Chef Boyardee. Great comfort food, reasonably priced, for people that are hungry and enjoy a good time and a great value! Eminem's food joint is a must. If I lived in Detroit or if there was a Mom's Spaghetti in Los Angeles, I would have no problem eating here at least twice a week. It's affordable and it fills you up. Spice it up anyway you want to. It's part of the appeal. Why not get a "Mom's Spaghetti" from Eminem? Mom's spaghetti had all the right intentions but missed the mark. The noodles were sadly overcooked, limp and clinging together like they'd given up on texture entirely. The sauce, which should have been the soul of the dish, was disappointingly bland--no zing of tomato, no whisper of herbs, just a flat, red puddle that coated the pasta without conviction. It felt like a meal that had been rushed or forgotten on the stove a little too long, the kind you eat out of politeness rather than pleasure. But then came the garlic bread, and suddenly the evening had a redeeming arc. Crisp on the outside, warm and buttery within, it had just the right punch of garlic and a satisfying crunch that made you pause and appreciate the bite. It was the kind of bread that could carry a meal on its back, and in this case, it did. If the spaghetti was a letdown, the garlic bread was a small triumph--a crusty consolation prize that made the whole plate worth sitting through. Sandwich was messy, spaghetti was... okay? The water was cold but went warm in 5 minutes despite it being freezing outside, and the guy had a lil attitude. The merch shop was fun though I got a shirt which was overpriced for images on a white shirt but I guess. The inside was hard to find a place to sit and eat and napkins were thin and horrible for the messiness. It's definitely the concept and experience over the actual quality.
I'm sure there's a million reviews since this is Eminem's place. Interesting layout. Order at a window in the alleyway, take your food inside if there is room, and a little shop upstairs. Me and my son both had spaghetti and meatballs. It comes with garlic Texas toast. This is exactly like how every mom in the US makes spaghetti dinner. A sweet sauce with a few extra spices thrown in like fennel. Typical store style spaghetti. The 4C or Kraft Parmesan on top. The meatballs had the texture of an actual meatball made by an actual person with actual meat, not one of those creepy jiggly meatballs with toothpaste meat. A+ on that! Is this the best pasta I have had? No way. Ut I loved it. It sounds silly but this was total and complete comfort food and the price was incredible considering I was across the street from Tiger's stadium. I cannot recommend this enough. Glad we stopped in! Food was good. Odd that you have to order outside. Food came quick in a bag but then had to find the entry. Once inside, it was a pretty cool vibe.
If you want a fun experience this is it. You order outside, have optional seating indoors and the food is reasonably price for in a city. It's always a fun time and be sure to stop at the store inside for Eminem merch and to view some super cute memorabilia
My partner and I were big Eminem fan's growing up so it felt like a fun experience to finally be able to go to Mom's Spaghetti. It's got a prime location right outside Comerica park. We had a show at Little Caesar's Arena and decided to stop by for some quick food beforehand. You order at a window in the alley on the side of the building. There was no line when we went and everything moved very quickly. The staff that took our order was one of the friendliest and warmest people I've ever met. The prices for the items felt pretty fair for downtown Detroit and the portions were more than reasonable. I got a regular Spaghetti with balls and I enjoyed it. The portion was larger than I anticipated and came with 3 meatballs and a half slice of garlic bread. The garlic bread is white bread with butter/oil and garlic seasoning but it's only $1 for extra slices. I would absolutely order this late nights after concerts as often as possible if I lived in Detroit. It's a very simple comfort when in a rush or not wanting to cook. There is limited seating inside the building after you receive your food. There are fun pieces of art with spaghetti as the feature. The restaurant was moderately clean but it was also pretty busy inside when we arrived. Overall, I think it's a fun place to visit in between shows or before a game. I think it's a positive that a famous artist isn't concerned about price gouging people and offering a small and honest menu. I'm not dying to go back, but it's a fun visit for fans.
While visiting Detroit I was suddenly reminded of the 90s like cheesy commercial I saw of Eminem's restaurant he opened earlier this year so I had to check it out. The restaurant is right by the Fox theater and you line up in an alley to order from a small window before you can enter the restaurant to dine-in. The menu is quite simple. You can get spaghetti with or without meatballs that comes with a slice of garlic bread, and spaghetti sandwich that's sandwiched between two garlic breads. There was also a vegan option too. I arrived on Sunday around 3pm and there was probably 7-10 people ahead of me in line and the line was moving a bit slow. Once you order you might have to wait on the side to get your food. I ordered spaghetti and meatball. It tasted good but it's not special. It's what you can expect from any spaghetti and meatball. The portion was big enough to feed two though which I appreciate since we paid around $14 after tax. We went inside the restaurant to check out 'the trailer,' which is really a Eminem merch store with some memorabilia displayed. The trailer closes a little earlier than when the restaurant closes each night so check the hours. If you are a fan of Eminem then this is a spot to check out. If you are craving spaghetti then this is also the spot to check out in downtown. Other than that you're not missing much. read more
Mom's Spaghetti is Eminem's restaurant that is in partnership with owners Curt Catallo and Ann Stevenson, the husband and wife team who owns Union Kitchen. This restaurant is located on the south side of Union Assembly Restaurant and right across the street from the Comerica Park. For those of you wondering, Mom's Spaghetti is named for the famed first verse of "Lose Yourself," Eminem's single for the 2002 movie he started in, 8 Mile. The scene where Eminem's character is locked in a bathroom, drenched in sweat and washing off regurgitated spaghetti to his hoodie. The lyrics play "Knees weak, arms are heavy, there's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti"..... I am a fan of Eminem, more so of his older stuff and was actually surprised to find out that this restaurant exist. Being that my husband and I were on a road trip in the Midwest, I decided to add a stop in Detroit, MI so that we could check it out. After getting parking several blocks away (just our luck to come on a Friday evening when there happened to be a Detroit Tiger's game on the same night.... parking was definitely a challenge), we walked over here down the alley way and arrived a little after 9 pm. There was only one person at the window, but he had already ordered so it was nice that there was no line. After looking over the menu, we ended up getting: Spaghetti Bolognese, $12, tax included- Just as everyone has said, the portions are huge and can easily feed 2-3 people. I really liked the sauce and thought it was very flavorful. The noodles were cooked perfectly. This was served with a half slice of garlic bread, which was oily but tasty. Spaghetti with balls, $12, tax included- My husband wanted to have his own meal, so he ordered this. Just like mine, he also got a half slice of garlic bread. He had at least 6 meatballs in his container. He also thought the spaghetti was tasty. ---------------------------- (Total= $24 after tax) Honestly for the amount you get, the price is actually quite reasonable and I really enjoyed the spaghetti over a few meals. The employee who took my order was friendly. She was so kind to ask if I wanted a paper bag for our order since I was trying to place our order in a plastic bag that I had in my pocket. Because the paper bag is a bit flimsy, I asked her if I could have a second one to double bag so that the bag doesn't rip on me (with such large portions, these meals are heavy). According to an article I read from the New York Times, the pasta is made a day ahead of time because noodles do take a while to cook. The food is reheated in a wok and served to the customer. This doesn't bother me since spaghetti typically taste much better the next day, once the sauce and the seasonings used have time to mingle and get more flavorful. Anyways, if you wish to consume your purchase, you can go next door to Union Assembly and eat either on the first floor or the second floor, with designated seats for Mom's Spaghetti customers. But of course the major draw of stopping by here is the trailer on the 2nd floor to browse and purchase souvenirs. You can also view the Robin costume from the music video for "Without Me" that is in a display case. There are no prices on any of the items for sale, which I don't know why it's like that. But anyways, Mom's Spaghetti shirts and hats are $30 each. Eminem shirts are $25 and shot glasses are $10. Definitely worth a visit if you are an Eminem fan. read more
I LOVE this place. It's a very short walk from the hotel indigo and I was walking back from work with a friend. If anyone's curious, January is the coldest month in Detroit, but I made him wait for me so I could get a spaghetti sandwich. To be fair, a friend had wanted to go too, but got transferred and wasn't able to join us. Fun place to say you've been. It's gimmicky. It's $12 for spaghetti and meatballs. It is a large portion though. Waited 10 minutes before it opened at 4 on a Tuesday. Third person on line. By the time 4 rolled around, there was a good 15 people online. They opened at 402PM and the food took about 10 minutes to make. I walked around the museum on the second floor. Pro tip: go through Union assembly to get there if the door is locked on moms spaghettis side. I got a shot glass with the store logo. Some cool Eminem merch. A must-visit for Eminem fans and a nice place to stop even if you're not a stan. I got the b rabbit order which is spaghetti with vegan "meat"balls. The portion is quite large so it's worth the $14, and the food tasted quite good. It also came with a slice of garlic bread! One small complaint was that none of the artwork on the first floor of the trailer had any Eminem-related references. Upstair there's an amazing collection of Eminem swag and memorabilia, including the Robin costume from Without Me, some excerpts from his notepad when he was writing lose yourself and lots more. I was really excited to finally try Mom's. Ever since I found out Eminem opened this restaurant I've been wanting to check it out. And today it finally happened. I've been fan of Eminem and really came to say I tried it and to get some photos. The spaghetti just wasn't hitting the spot for me but that's ok. It wasn't bad but I wasn't expecting the spaghetti to be out of this world delish. I really came for the experience. The portions were big for the spaghetti w/ balls was $12 served in a Chinese take out container. Soda cans were $3 each. Also comes with a slice of garlic toast. The restaurant is located at the lower level of the Little Caesars Headquarters in downtown Detroit on Woodward Street. Mom's Spaghetti shares the space with another restaurant called the Union place or something. You order at the side of the building in the alley. It's all takeout and you walk into the Union place restaurant and head upstairs for seating. Upstairs is also where you will the Trailer which is the gift shop and you'll see some Eminem memorabilia. read more

For what it is- 5 stars! Spaghetti in to go containers from an alley window in Detroit! The spaghetti sandwich is what I ordered and it hit the spot. The garlic bread toast and the gooey cheese made this sandwich so good!!! If you are in Detroit and an Eminem fan this is a must for an easy quick dinner. We were able to get seats inside, but there aren't many. If you have a larger party, plan on taking the food to go. Before you leave, make sure to check out the exhibit upstairs with Eminem's collection of memorabilia and items from his music videos. read more

A must try when in Detroit. The set up is pretty unique. You order through a window in the alley of the busy downtown area. At first glance you'll be a little discouraged to see the amount of people huddled around, but the wait time isn't too bad and I would have to say it's definitely worth it. There is very limited indoor seating. We didn't have an issue finding a table. Now to the food! We weren't expecting much, but to our surprise it was really good! Fresh, hot, comfort food. You know a restaurant is a big deal when you have multiple out of state friends reaching out to you, absolutely insistent that you give it a try -- luckily for my friends, I needed very little convincing to try out Mom's Spaghetti. I've been a fan of Eminem's music for years, and the prospect of trying out a restaurant themed around one of his lyrics was reason enough to swing by! Unlike Slim, I'm not able to hit 7.3 words per second so I'll keep it brief. If you're remotely an Eminem fan and/or you like good food for a reasonable cost, you should swing by Mom's Spaghetti. You'll order food from the window outside, and it's ready quite quickly (less than 10 minutes for our group of 3). I'm thinking a big part of that is due to the simple menu, but no complaints here! The menu offers exactly what you'd look for from a simple spaghetti themed restaurant, and they're able to make vegan options as well. Once you've picked up your food, you can eat inside the Union building where there's a corner marked out for Mom's Spaghetti customers (especially helpful if you're here on a winter night like we were... because as we know... it's Cold in the D). Additionally, if you head upstairs, there's another seating area designated, and there's The Trailer, which houses some awesome Eminem memorabilia (available for purchase) and some historical items which are cool to see too! The quality of the food is decent, pretty much what I'd expect from spaghetti and meatballs. The quantity is the big star here, it's a ton of food and could easily be 1.5-2 meals from a standard order of Spaghetti and Meatballs. Overall, I have no reservations recommending that you swing by Mom's Spaghetti at least once! The novelty of the restaurant is cool, and the speed & quantity of the food make it an appealing choice even if you're just looking for a bite while in the area. read more

Ohkay, yes. Admittedly I am a huge STAN. I was a Stan before the term Stan was even a thing. I was a Stan before the song Stan even dropped. So bottom line- I am the biggest Eminem fan, and perhaps that does make me a little biased. BUT TRUST ME!! When I say this place is a MUST try. This review is split up into two ratings because it's a museum/gift shop of sorts and a restaurant all in one. It is an Amazing spot for a restaurant , right in the middle of downtown, across the stadium. I came into Detroit just to try the place but I got to see a lot of the city because of the location. It does share a storefront with another restaurant but it definitely stands on its own. It's so casual and welcoming. Warm, welcoming retro Italian vibes, with an edge of course. Pinball machines, and even a small selection of convenience store items from candy bars to condoms Lol! And you can bet your A** there's great music. So, you pull up on the side of the building and order your food Walk up window style. Workers are draped in Eminem Merch. And then you take your food inside or to go! It was DELICIOUS. Absolutely perfected the idea of fast food spaghetti. I ordered the spaghetti sandwich. And my boyfriend got the classic spaghetti and meatballs. The portions are FAT! A solid like two pounds of spaghetti. If I lived in town I would probably order from their any night I didn't feel like cooking. Garlic bread is so buttery and soft. Spaghetti was not too dry and not overly sauced. Meatballs were juicy, THICC. Guys. I could go on and on- but any Stan or otherwise has to give this place a shot. read more
When in the 313, a visit to Mom's Spaghetti seemed like a no brainer! The restaurant sits among other Motor City staples including Comerica Park, The Fillmore, and Fox Theater. The set up is interesting, we ordered from the take out window and brought our food inside when ready. We ventured upstairs and sat outside "The Trailer", a gift shop featuring Eminem memorabilia and merch for sale. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese served with complimentary garlic bread while my friend had the spaghetti sandwich. The flavors were familiar and nostalgic and the experience overall met my expectations. read more

Overall it was a cool experience, the food was very tasty and very well priced. I wish I would've arrived earlier, the shop was already closed at 10:15ish when online it says they close at 12am. It was near a lively area of the city and it had a parking garage near by. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by Mom's Spaghetti! The huge portions were served up quickly with a smile through the take out window located on the side of Union Assembly restaurant. There are tables if you prefer to sit inside and enjoy the yummy sloppiness. The prices equal the portions. Give Mom's Spaghetti a try! It's the best comfort food in Detroit. Open late! read more

Moms Spaghetti!! Wow the iconic Eminem Togo food! I thought it was incredible!! When we were waiting in line after a concert, people would walk by and say "overrated" or good not good. But I don't care I had to experience this!! I loved it! So do much! The garlic bread was awesome and I'm a picky eater- the spaghetti was awesome. Great taste and it didn't have a bunch of chunky onions and tomatoes. I just loved the spaghetti, sauce and meatballs. It was the fastest service I ever recieved and the in store seating was just a great atmosphere. I wish I checked it out more and toook more photos. I would definitely visit again! read more

So this place is actually inside another restaurant. Took us a minute to find it because I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Literally across the street from Comerica Park, inside the Union Assembly. The seating is upstairs but you actually order from a small window in the alleyway. The menu is pretty simple, as is the concept. The spaghetti was actually pretty good. Portions were huge and the price was cheaper than expected. Don't show up here thinking you're at some fancy upscale Italian restaurant, because you aren't. You ordered from the alleyway. There is a small gift shop/museum upstairs that could stand an upgrade. As iconic as the rapper and the song is, he could make as much off the merchandise, than he could with the food. This is really about Detroit, Eminem, and the spaghetti. It's nostalgic and fun. The concept of this place is interesting. Order in the alley, go into a portion of another restaurant, and eat inside of you want or take it home. The spaghetti was good but nothing extraordinary. The spaghetti samich was an interesting concept but tasted good as well. There was plenty of garlic on the bread, and the spaghetti was cooked just right. Was afraid it would be mushy, but it wasn't. What really impressed me with mom spaghetti was the staff. Super friendly and helpful. I didn't feel like just another number and from being out of town always heard detroit locals were incredibly rude. Great first example of local people proving Detroit does have friendly ppl! Eminem's window serving only Spaghetti leaves a lot to be desired. Mom's Spaghetti is a small little windows with a seating area on the corner of Union Assembly off of Woodward. After waiting in line for 30 minutes, it still took them 10 minutes to throw overcooked pasta and bland tomato sauce into a takeout container. There definitely is a great vibe to the seating area with relics of Eminem's career and a shop up top with really cool merch. As a restaurant I can't recommend it, but if you want a little piece of Detroit and Eminem then you're in the right place. read more

A funky little place - literally a hole in the wall in an alley - with pretty good food. I had the spaghetti with balls. It was tasty and the portion size was large - too big for me. My son had the spaghetti bolognese sandwich. He said it was fantastic, but needed a bit more sauce. Overall a good experience. read more

Basically you order in an alley way then you may be able to eat inside if you can get a spot at the limited seating. On the day that I went, I had to go through the adjoining restaurant and order inside. The manager of the adjoining restaurant was a little peeved that we were in there. And was a little rude. So it was an awkward experience. Also, because it was weird to be standing inside a restaurant where other patrons were eating...and we were just standing around behind them. You get lots of spaghetti. It's pretty basic. Not bad, but also nothing out of this world. Meat balls are inconsistent, some were dry some were ok. They are quite small...and not enough meat balls to spaghetti. You also get a piece of toast. Would I go out of my way to drive through this area to eat this again? No. read more

What a treat to eat here. I honestly didn't know this was Eminem's restaurant until I got there. We had the whole top floor reserved for our group event to celebrate finishing the Detroit Marathon. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly. The chicken was moist and the green beans were flavorful. Everything was great. I hope to come back here when I visit Detroit again. read more

Served in Chinese take-out style containers, this well sized spaghetti is served hot, either on its own or with meatballs (regular or vegan) and a side of garlic bread. The spaghetti is done with a basic sauce, and is very good. I personally would have liked a tad more garlic on the bread, but that too was delicious. We got four meatballs with each order, and both the regular and vegan options were tasty. Having gone there later in the evening, we walked up to the window (which faces the alley) and took our order to go. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit. I mean..how could you not? read more

We visited the moms spaghetti food truck at the NFL draft and how cool!!! When we went back to Detroit, we stopped in at the restaurant. The order from the alley was cool.... Then upstairs you can eat and tour/shop the trailer!!! read more

How can you not visit Detroit and got to mom's spaghetti?! Walked up to order meatballs and spaghetti. The dish comes in a nice fold up box with garlic bread , 3-4 meatballs and spaghetti . Very filling. You can go around and eat to the inside left area. The eating area is connected to a restaurant. Fun experience and casual dinning. read more

I'm an Eminem fan as well as a Detroiter and this is a fun and unique Detroit experience. The food is pretty good and it's literally just spaghetti. Perfectly cooked noodles with enough sauce to coat the noodles but not drown them. You get a HUGE portion in a takeout box which is enough for a least 2 meals. The s'ghetti sandwich is actually really good - spaghetti sandwiched in between two pieces of buttery, garlicky Texas Toast. You really can't go wrong with that! Again, quite basic but that's the whole experience. They have a Vegan option as well. The pricing is on point for what you get. The same group who owns Clarkston Union, Vinsetta Garage, Union Assembly (and more) are joint Owners in this. All of their restaurants are generally very consistent in food and this is no exception. You order your food from the takeout window between Union Assembly and The Filmore. There is seating inside on a few different levels. You'll see the separation between this and Union Assembly since they are joint. The atmosphere is cool if you've ever watched 8 Mile or just an Eminem fan in general. Be sure to go up to the Trailer on the third floor to check out some memorabilia from his music videos and merchandise. My niece and nephew love coming here when they're in town and it's our new tradition! read more

What time does the restaurant actually open, google says 4 but I just went onto the website and saw it said 11:00 AM? Even Yelp has it open at 3/ 4 each day
