I came in the door, I said it before, I never let the menu magnetize me no more. But it's bitin' me, fightin' me, invitin' me to grind. I can't hold it back, I'm looking for the line... I recently travelled over 2,000 miles from L.A. to eat here this month, on a weekday around 3pm. No huge crowds, thank goodness. None of my other heroes back home in Califas would feed me, so I had to trudge to Eminem's joint to give it a shot. It's interesting to consider that all the talent in California like King Tee, Tha Alcoholiks, Toddy Tee, Ice Tee, Ice Cube, Too Short, DJ Quik, WC(dub-c), Mack 10, Kam, Above the Law, The Game, MC Eiht, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Cypress Hill, or The Pharcyde have yet to open a food establishment of their own. I believe Kid Frost may have had a place at one time, however, it closed down before I could eat there. Eminem is pulling it off in his home town and I believe that is something to celebrate! It is a true miracle for any artist to make a living from what they create. Eminem not only accomplished this as an artist, he also created something from an idea of his, that now employees others from the Detroit area. How freakin incredible is that shit! An artist that is in a position to give something back to his community is a big deal. These are what everyday miracles look like my friends. Art has purpose and meaning for the world to enjoy. Culinary art is just another example. Mom's Spaghetti is really reasonably priced. The only place I've ever been to where the spaghetti is this cheap was in Rome, Italy. I'd much rather come to Detroit again than jump on a 12 hour flight to Italy. To each their own. My wife and I enjoyed the limited menu here. I ate the spaghetti with meatballs, the bolognese sandwich, and the spaghetti with bolognese. It's comfort food with fresh ingredients served hot and quickly. No complaints from me. I knew the food might be on the mild side so I stopped at Kroger or Meijer and picked up some Serrano peppers to liven up my meal. The chilis made it all pop just right. Mom's Spaghetti tastes good and is three or four notches above Olive Garden or Chef Boyardee. Great comfort food, reasonably priced, for people that are hungry and enjoy a good time and a great value! Eminem's food joint is a must. If I lived in Detroit or if there was a Mom's Spaghetti in Los Angeles, I would have no problem eating here at least twice a week. It's affordable and it fills you up. Spice it up anyway you want to. Such a great check off bucket list. First time visiting Detroit and of course I had to try this iconic place. Got the s'ghetti special which is spaghetti in a sandwich. This was definitely my first time trying it and I would describe it as eating spaghetti with garlic bread. Nothing super special with the taste, but the experience definitely made it worthwhile. You order outside of the window and have the option to go inside and dine in or grab and go! Either way, this is definitely a must stop when visiting Detroit!
I would have given this 3.5 stars if I could. What held me back, was the limited menu, and The taste itself not really wow'ing me with anything unique or above-average. However, the limited menu makes ordering super simple, and I think in terms of value, it's actually pretty reasonable. A cool concept for sure, in that you order at this little outdoor window and then if you really need you have the option of going inside to sit afterwards. Although there was no one at the window for us and we had to get someone from the inside to get someone out there.
I had to try Mom's Spaghetti while in Detroit -- hype and all -- and I'm glad I did. I ordered the large bolognese, which came with bread and a soda for $15, and the portion was more than generous. Yes, you order at the walk-up window (and yes, I waited in the cold ), but it was totally worth it. The sauce was flavorful, comforting, and hit exactly the way you want a classic bolognese to hit. Nothing overcomplicated -- just solid, satisfying pasta that actually fills you up. I went in curious and left pleasantly surprised. If you're in Detroit and debating whether to try it, I'd say go for it at least once -- especially if you're already in the area or a fan of the story behind it.
It's part of the appeal. Why not get a "Mom's Spaghetti" from Eminem? Mom's spaghetti had all the right intentions but missed the mark. The noodles were sadly overcooked, limp and clinging together like they'd given up on texture entirely. The sauce, which should have been the soul of the dish, was disappointingly bland--no zing of tomato, no whisper of herbs, just a flat, red puddle that coated the pasta without conviction. It felt like a meal that had been rushed or forgotten on the stove a little too long, the kind you eat out of politeness rather than pleasure. But then came the garlic bread, and suddenly the evening had a redeeming arc. Crisp on the outside, warm and buttery within, it had just the right punch of garlic and a satisfying crunch that made you pause and appreciate the bite. It was the kind of bread that could carry a meal on its back, and in this case, it did. If the spaghetti was a letdown, the garlic bread was a small triumph--a crusty consolation prize that made the whole plate worth sitting through. I'm sure there's a million reviews since this is Eminem's place. Interesting layout. Order at a window in the alleyway, take your food inside if there is room, and a little shop upstairs. Me and my son both had spaghetti and meatballs. It comes with garlic Texas toast. This is exactly like how every mom in the US makes spaghetti dinner. A sweet sauce with a few extra spices thrown in like fennel. Typical store style spaghetti. The 4C or Kraft Parmesan on top. The meatballs had the texture of an actual meatball made by an actual person with actual meat, not one of those creepy jiggly meatballs with toothpaste meat. A+ on that! Is this the best pasta I have had? No way. Ut I loved it. It sounds silly but this was total and complete comfort food and the price was incredible considering I was across the street from Tiger's stadium. I cannot recommend this enough. Glad we stopped in! My partner and I were big Eminem fan's growing up so it felt like a fun experience to finally be able to go to Mom's Spaghetti. It's got a prime location right outside Comerica park. We had a show at Little Caesar's Arena and decided to stop by for some quick food beforehand. You order at a window in the alley on the side of the building. There was no line when we went and everything moved very quickly. The staff that took our order was one of the friendliest and warmest people I've ever met. The prices for the items felt pretty fair for downtown Detroit and the portions were more than reasonable. I got a regular Spaghetti with balls and I enjoyed it. The portion was larger than I anticipated and came with 3 meatballs and a half slice of garlic bread. The garlic bread is white bread with butter/oil and garlic seasoning but it's only $1 for extra slices. I would absolutely order this late nights after concerts as often as possible if I lived in Detroit. It's a very simple comfort when in a rush or not wanting to cook. There is limited seating inside the building after you receive your food. There are fun pieces of art with spaghetti as the feature. The restaurant was moderately clean but it was also pretty busy inside when we arrived. Overall, I think it's a fun place to visit in between shows or before a game. I think it's a positive that a famous artist isn't concerned about price gouging people and offering a small and honest menu. I'm not dying to go back, but it's a fun visit for fans.
Where do I start? This is a stable of Detroit as it came from the great Emenem. People wanna hate on it like it's a 5 star restaurant... take it for what it is. It's a walk-through owned by one of the best rappers of all time in his city. I thought the noodles were great. The sauce was good. You can't really go wrong with a S'ghetti Sandwich !!! Always add the extra sauce (Marshall's style)! Sauce had no meat and there's even vegan meatballs available!! Staff is alway friendly and the walk up window around the side allows quick and seamless to go service! There a a few seats inside incase you want to sit and eat. Super close to downtown venues and stadium!
When in Detroit and a Eminem fan- you hit up Mom's Spaghetti! It was a blustery November night. I stood in the alley. Made me feel real Detroit doing so. The wind was just gushing in the alley. But I was there for it all! (Cool view of the Tigers stadium.) To-go window. Friendly staff, trying their best to be fast and efficient. I did get the inside scoop that the girl working the window has never met Eminem. She said he doesn't really come around. Anyways... I went with the Spaghetti and meatballs with extra garlic bread. It took about 10 minutes and I was sent my my way with my chinese spaghetti box! I stopped inside. I grabbed a 2 top table to lean on while i tried the food fresh. Immediately I was impressed the spaghetti sauce was good. The meatballs needed a little italian seasoning or garlic but ok. Garlic bread- on point. Eventually my whole family tried it and enjoyed it. (I went with a large.) I took some time to walk through the gift shop, looks like a trailer from the outside. Looked at the BRabbit memorabilia and such. Love that this is built into the experience! Overall- it's worth it.
Located in an alley next to restaurant you can order at the window. Mom's Spaghetti doesn't have any tables to sit down. it's more for pick up and go. The food comes in cute containers. However, the spaghetti definitely tastes second day leftovers. I would say I would get this drunk and coming home from a late night. read more
The internet is not lying- this is the BEST spaghetti you will eat in your lifetime. GO! Tips to know: It's a walk-up window in the alley. You can take your food inside next-door to sit-down tables if you'd like. Visit the trailer inside for merchandise and fun photo ops with Eminem props/outfits from music videos (they rotate). First time in Detroit. So we had to stop by Mom's spaghetti. The restaurant is literally in the ally way. So don't think it's the other restaurant on the corner like I did. It's a walk up and order kinda of place. No indoor place to eat. Basically just take out. We ordered spaghetti w/balls and s'ghetti sandwich. The sauce and meat balls were good. It tastes like spaghetti you would make at home. The balls were decent size with good flavor. S'ghetti sandwich was pretty good. I'm pretty sure for the bread they used Texas toast. Toast had the right amount of garlic flavor. Parking was easy you can just pull up on the street and place your order. If you're looking for something fast and late night this is the spot! read more
The meatballs are pretty tasty. The spaghetti wasn't bad, but also didn't BLOW me away. You have to order the meatballs with Mom's spaghetti though. It was just okay. The souvenir shop inside is worth a look around. Lots of cool original memorabilia. read more

Spaghetti was awesome, vibe super chill, staff was nice and professional. Came with garlic bread wich was your standard bread but still not complaining. What was funny was you order in an alley!! Only complaint is they loaded it with spaghetti sauce but next time i could always ask for less sauce. read more
It's a cool experience if you are in Detroit! The meatballs are great, the spaghettis are kind of bland, but hey! Everybody wants to try it cuz it's Eminem's place and it is kind of a cool experience you have to order it in an alley. I'm going to label this as a good spot for drunk food . read more

The idea is cool. You order your food in the alley, the first thing to dampen the mood was the guy working the window. Note to worker pretend like you want to be there. 3 stars because the spaghetti wasn't bad it was average I just wouldn't go out of my way. The trailer/gift shop is even more average. Not sure what I was expecting but 12.00 for a jar of the average sauce I just ate. Em what are we doing here, everything is setup showing the poor condition of 8 mile then I go in the trailer and you want to charge me $12.00 for sauce? read more

You are totally going to this place for the novelty of it. 4 stars because I was expecting it to taste like Chef Boyadree and it totally didn't, so huge plus. Spaghetti Bolognese Decent spaghetti, like legit, way better than I expected it to be. Noodles needed more sauce, it was lightly coated spaghetti making it a little too dry. Sauce had good flavor, the pork and beef mix of the meat was delightful. The garlic bread, was a piece of Texas toast. Excellent garlic butter on it, complimented the spaghetti well. I thought it was cute that it comes in a container that gives you Chinese food Carryout vibes. You also order in the alley at a walk up window, very clever. All in all, not too shabby. read more
If you're gonna narrow down your menu to just three things, you have to make sure that those three things are phenomenal. This place fell far below my expectations. Clearly this place's focus is 95% gimmick, 5% food. The spaghetti was bland, boring, flavorless. The bread was decent, but if what's in the name doesn't impress me, you've lost me. Also... the system and experience are wonky, to say the least. You order from a window on the side of an alley. But that's not obvious. So you walk into the main door, get stopped by someone instructing you to first get the food in the alley, then come back to sit down. Then you discover that the place where you eat is not exclusive to this place, but shared with another restaurant. The gift shop was unimpressive. They tried to make it interesting, but it's just 10 items of Eminem memorabilia and the rest is boring merch. I don't usually say this kinda thing on a review, but don't go here unless you JUST want to say you went to a restaurant named after a bar in an Eminem song. If you're going for the food, save the money and go to one of many other delicious, far superior eateries in town, then go watch 8 Mile, if you wanna get your Eminem fix. Mom, spaghetti was a fun experience. The restaurant is literally created like a trailer park in which rapper Eminem grew up. You order through a side window or inside. And then you have the choice to eat upstairs or take your food to go. On the top level, you can enter a makeshift simulated trailer and there's a lot of memorabilia as well as merchandise for purchase associated with Eminem. As far as the food goes, I'm going to be honest with you like the name says it's simply mom spaghetti. It wasn't nasty, but it wasn't Divine. Would I go back absolutely for the experience however I'm not raving about the food. I did like the fact that they had rabbit balls, which were vegan meatballs. Overall, if you are a fan of Eminem's music check this place out however the food is nothing to cry home to mom about. The staff was incredibly friendly and there's so many Easter eggs around the restaurant that you'll definitely find some on each visit. read more

We stopped by for a late-night snack, and since the restaurant was about to close, we had to place our order from the side in the alleyway. Thankfully, the wait wasn't long after we ordered. The spaghetti and meatballs were decent, but nothing truly remarkable--other than its affiliation with Eminem. However, my husband really enjoyed his spaghetti sandwich and said, "This is my childhood food." If you're in the area, it's worth a try! read more
Right after a concert at the Fillmore, we popped over to the walk up window of Mom's Spaghetti and were the second people in line (even though we were also front row on the main floor of the concert), which was truly surprising because I expected way more people to be in this line by the time we got to it. By the time we got our food and were walking away though, the line had wrapped around that first corner. Mom's Spaghetti is truly the perfect late night snack/meal to get when you're in the downtown Detroit area, especially because it's sandwiched right in between The Fillmore and Fox Theater, right across the street from Comerica Park, and just a little down the ways from Little Caesars Arena. It's in the prime spot and has a super small, straightforward menu of spaghetti and spaghetti adjacent options, and very reasonably priced too! I know that there's a small, super limited seating interior to Mom's Spaghetti as well if you want to go inside to order, but the walk up window is just so convenient and easy! Being second in line, we were up next at the window and it didn't even take 5 minutes to place our order and get our food before we were heading back to our car. We both got the spaghetti with rabbit balls (the vegan version of meatballs) and it really hit the spot at 11 pm on a Wednesday! It's not the best spaghetti ever, but it's still mighty tasty and exactly what we wanted after jumping around and dancing our hearts out at the concert previously! We got the regular sizes of the spaghetti and it was $11, which feels super reasonable. And truly it was so much spaghetti! We were both saying that we probably could've gotten the large for a few dollars more and split that between the two of us! The spaghetti comes in a to-go container so if you don't want to finish all of it, it has the flaps at the top where you can close it and save it for later. Each spaghetti comes with garlic bread too and it was proper good garlic bread! The rabbit balls were super interesting too - definitely very tasty! They tasted like beans rather than meat, and paired super well still with the spaghetti! All in all, I had a great experience with Mom's Spaghetti and will probably get it again whenever I find myself in this area late at night. It's certainly not one of the best places that you *have* to try when you come to Detroit, despite it being owned by Eminem, but it's a great option to have in the city and in this area given that they stay open until midnight, so thanks Eminem! read more
I was asked to check out Eminem's restaurant for my daughters back home. Let's just say it delivers the good for the crowd it attracts. If you are looking for a bucket of inexpensive carbs before or after at an event at the two stadiums downtown, this is your place. You order in the alleyway and the food is delivered to you quickly. Considering they pretty much make spaghetti all day, I wondered why the noodles and sauce were just lukewarm. The noodles and sauce should have tasted like they were freshly made. The sauce, which you can buy by the jar, is pretty bland and lacks a spicy Italian punch. But overlooking those comments, you can fill your belly quickly and inexpensively at Mom's Spaghetti. You come here for the experience, not the food LOL. There is no parking so beware if you are driving. They only serve from a takeout window and you can sit inside but only about 10 seats so plan on eating somewhere else. The food is obviously not the best spaghetti, it gives homemade vibes like something you get a bottle of spaghetti sauce and heat and serve. I'm from San Francisco so at $10 this was a great value but I wouldn't go out my way to come here. read more
We had a catered meal at Mom's Spaghetti after the Detroit Marathon. We were at the top floor venue of the restaurant. The food was so good. The view from the top floor was also amazing. You have a great view of Tiger Stadium. The bar and service staff were very helpful. read more
During my birthday getaway to Detroit Michigan, I made Mom's Spaghetti a priority to visit since my visit a few years ago was unsuccessful due to not being able to find a parking spot. Mom's Spaghetti sits within downtown Detroit, a highly congested area right across from Comerica Park (ballpark of Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers). Rather than attempt to drive to the location and have another unsuccessful visit, I chose to catch a Lyft instead which worked out well. In spite of visiting during the winter-time, I was grateful that the line to order was not long because it was freaking cold outside. And because of that, the wait seemed excruciating alongside the lackluster service. However, I was dead set on ordering from Mom's Spaghetti, so I hung in there as my legs shivered, tehehe. Seeing women walk around downtown in less layers than what I had on, like mini-skirts, dresses, leggings, and even faux leather pants helped me psychologically. Oh my Lord, I can only imagine what that felt like wearing something like a mini skirt when it is below twenty degrees. I ended up ordering the spaghetti w/ rabbit balls (vegan) which had been on my radar since my discovery of Mom's Spaghetti years ago. If not for me wanting to try the rabbit balls, I would have ordered the spaghetti sandwich which I must point out is some straight up 8-Mile sh*t! Tehehe, I will have to try the spaghetti sandwich on a different visit, maybe when it is a lot warmer in Detroit. Since I did not drive, it forced me to dine-in because it would have been ridiculous to wait to order, pick it up, then schedule a Lyft back to my hotel. And dining in gave me the chance to thaw out my shivering body, enjoy my food while it was warm, plus make the experience worthwhile. I really enjoyed the spaghetti w/ rabbit balls! Tehehe, rabbit balls! As one that loves and considers spaghetti as one of my favorite foods, I have to say that it was very delicious and worth the visit. Being that the rabbit balls were vegan, of course they did not taste like your average meatballs, but I did enjoy them. To date, the rabbit balls are honestly the best plant-based meatballs I have ever had. Being that I had a good experience, I would gladly revisit and order from Mom's Spaghetti again when visiting Detroit, as I mentioned in this review. A small corner window by a concert venue and the Tigers stadium serving iconic "Mom's spaghetti", the food was alright. I got a serving of Spaghetti with Balls which comes with a side of garlic bread toast. The service was adequately fast. Since there is no indoor seating, I snatched up the to go bag and ate it in the car. Filled to the brim of a Chinese-style to go box was the pasta and meatballs sprinkled with parm. The taste is very average and a mix between cafeteria and home-style. The balls were springy and finely ground, definitely more akin to factory made meatballs. The garlic bread was a regular triangle half slice of Wonder bread schmeared with garlic butter seasoning. Overall, I could see myself craving this after a drunken night at a concert read more

I was stoked and excited about trying Eminem's restaurant. I visited Mom's Spaghetti on Tuesday, 5/16/23, for a late lunch. I decided to settle for the Spaghetti & Meatballs. The pasta was saucy and flavorful. Also, the portion was huge and filling. I almost couldn't finish it. For $12, that was a great price for the amount of food given. I liked how I was able to order from the alleyway. It was a unique experience. Overall, I'm glad that I visited Mom's Spaghetti. read more

What do you do when you're in Detroit? Eat at Eminem's restaurant, even if I'm not a huge fan. Everyone recommends checking it out when you're in Detroit. Maybe it's a novelty for a Canadian. Was it worth the trip across the border? It can easily be missed. It's in the middle of an alley, with just a window and tiny sign. You can go inside for sit down seating, feels fast food-like. But it's connected the Union Assembly (same parent company/owner) and they give you a hassle even if you have a group eating from both restaurants. Prime downtown location. The food portion was good. I was very full. There's a lot of spaghetti, with a few meatballs, and a slice of garlic bread. It's very carb heavy. Not the highest quality. The food is just sitting there. Service is quick. Reasonably priced. I think the coolest part is the experience and "The Trailer" on the second floor. It has some overpriced swag and clothes. It also has some album and pieces from his music videos. Without this, the food isn't special. But life is about the experiences and I'll remember this. read more
In Detroit for a holiday party, I knew this was a must try. Being a fan of Eminem and his music, I was excited to test out his restaurant. The menu is small and simple. My friend and I opted for an order of spaghetti w/balls and s'ghetti sandwich. On this frigid day in Detroit, we placed our order at the outside window and then sat inside waiting for our food. Our food was ready promptly and it was an okay portion for the price. The sandwich was tasty, I've never had spaghetti in Texas toast, but the bread held up well and the extra cheese was a nice touch. The spaghetti with balls was good, the meatballs could've used a little bit more flavor. After our meal we went upstairs to the small memorabilia store. They had a nice selection of merchandise and it was a replica of the trailer Eminem grew up in. This place is right across from the ballpark. Overall, it was good not great. Definitely something to add on places to eat in the Detroit area. read more

3.5 stars if I could. Had been trying to hit this spot a few times but the line was too long. Got into town before they opened and was able to find a close by parking spot. Peeked in the windows while I waited to check out the decor. Was first in line for the 4pm opening and just got the spaghetti sandwich. You can take inside the restaurant that it's attached to and eat it in the designated area. Upstairs they have some memorabilia but not a ton. I did enjoy seeing the photocopies of Eminem's thought process on putting lyrics to paper. Staff was super friendly . The food-spaghetti sandwich. Nothing spectacular but it wasn't bad either. Definitely tasted like a childhood classic. It's not a must repeat when in town but if someone I was with really wanted to go I wouldn't refuse it. read more
I will admit, being an Eminem fan, Moms Spaghetti does get a little biased 5 star review. But the whole concept is pretty cool. The ordering window is outside in the alleyway across the street from Comerica Park. The staff was very friendly and cheerful. The food is already made and you get your food as soon as you order it, so you really don't have to wait too long. I ordered their Spaghetti w/ Balls. It cost $12 which is such a great price because it's very filling. It's served in a large black "Chinese takeout box" with their Moms Spaghetti log on it. The spaghetti itself was also pretty good as were the meatballs. It was also served with a slice garlic bread and topped with Parmesan cheese. It's always cool to try these places at least once, but I was definitely impressed and wouldn't mind coming back in the summer before a Tigers game. read more
Congratulations to Marshall for being a 2022 inductee into the Rock & Roll (alcohol) Hall of Fame. His downtown Detroit spaghetti eatery was less than a block away from where I was dining so afterward, I strolled over and visited. Mom's Spaghetti is housed inside a corner of a full service restaurant (Union Assembly) on Woodward Ave just a couple of addresses south of The Fox Theatre. The menu was a simple listing of four spaghetti entrees, two spaghetti sandwiches, Pepsi products, and water. You order at an outside service window in an alley and then can take your food to-go or dine inside Union Assembly. It's a strange setup because you have to head north from the alley to the main entrance of UA, enter the premises, and then walk back south to a cramped corner of small booths and countertop seating outside the kitchen preparation area of Mom's Spaghetti. Apparently, there was upstairs seating too, but I did not venture to check it out which was unfortunate since Eminem memorabilia was on display in that area. Since I had just finished a meal, I bought an order of Spaghetti Bolognese to-go. I do have to say the prices for all the items were very reasonable for the amount of pasta served. It is definitely cheaper than what I pay for something similar where I currently live. My item was stuffed inside a quart size takeout carton branded with the business logo and doused with a heavy amount of grated parmesan cheese. A triangular slice of garlic bread was added to the top of the noodles. More sauce was needed as noted by others so heed that advice. Otherwise, the spaghetti quality was fairly average. read more
I always like when I randomly come across places I'd heard about and wanted to try, which is exactly what happened with Mom's Spaghetti. Nate and I were in town for a concert at LCA and had dinner reservations at Union Assembly, which technically houses Mom's Spaghetti too. I probably wouldn't have sought it out, since it's in a bit of a busy area near several venues, including Comerica Park. We decided to stop by after the concert let out around 10 pm and there was just a short line at the ordering window that moved really quickly. We ordered the spaghetti with balls for $12 and got our food right away. There is a bit of seating designated for Mom's Spaghetti customers inside Union Assembly, so we went around and grabbed a little booth. The spaghetti was average, but hit the spot as a late night snack. Some of the noodles at the top were dried out, but the meatballs were pretty tender and not dry at all. They had good flavor. The spaghetti sauce had a lot of dried oregano, which isn't my favorite, but I liked the use of the Kraft parmesan cheese which is just very nostalgic for me. As others have mentioned, the portion is large, and you get a half slice of garlic toast on the side too. The trailer with merchandise and memorabilia wasn't open so we didn't get to check that out. A friend said we should check this out while in Detroit so we did! It was unfortunately busy, from the time we got in line to the time we got our food it took about an hour. Not an ideal stop if you're on a time crunch. The staff was helpful and friendly though and the food was pretty decent. My friend and I agreed that the sauce lacked in favor but it made up for it in portion size. We both got regulars and it was more than enough! The garlic bread was delicious and my friend said the meatballs were really good as well. The indoor seating is limited, something to keep in mind. Overall, probably a great summer stop but not great for windy winter days! read more

Stopped by here after a Tigers game when my friends and I were in Detroit for the 4th of July holiday weekend. We weren't expecting anything too fancy or amazing, really. You order your food by the side window outside and if you want to, you can eat indoors (which is kind of confusingly attached to another restaurant's dining area). I got their spaghetti with plant based balls - the portion was generous and the taste reminded me of school cafeteria spaghetti and meatballs. Not bad but certainly not a culinary marvel. So, why the 4 stars? In the dining area, on the second floor, is a store called The Trailer Park. The store also serves as a mini museum of Eminem's career and offers a few things for sale, including kitschy Mom's Spaghetti themed t-shirts. Admittedly, I'm not an Eminem fan, though I can recognize his talent, and I thought the store was pretty cool. I did end up getting a shirt for my partner, who is a fan, unlike me. The worker at the store was very nice, so that certainly helped shape my opinion of this place also. Worth a peek into if you're a fan of pop culture, Eminem, and memes. read more
I liked it! I'm really glad I stumbled upon this place during my walk downtown because I've been meaning to come here. I had the spaghetti with meatballs. Easy ordering at a window outside. Fast and friendly service. There is a small inside area where you can eat, which is really nice and it's air conditioned too. It has a few booths and also some bar stools. While visiting Detroit I was suddenly reminded of the 90s like cheesy commercial I saw of Eminem's restaurant he opened earlier this year so I had to check it out. The restaurant is right by the Fox theater and you line up in an alley to order from a small window before you can enter the restaurant to dine-in. The menu is quite simple. You can get spaghetti with or without meatballs that comes with a slice of garlic bread, and spaghetti sandwich that's sandwiched between two garlic breads. There was also a vegan option too. I arrived on Sunday around 3pm and there was probably 7-10 people ahead of me in line and the line was moving a bit slow. Once you order you might have to wait on the side to get your food. I ordered spaghetti and meatball. It tasted good but it's not special. It's what you can expect from any spaghetti and meatball. The portion was big enough to feed two though which I appreciate since we paid around $14 after tax. We went inside the restaurant to check out 'the trailer,' which is really a Eminem merch store with some memorabilia displayed. The trailer closes a little earlier than when the restaurant closes each night so check the hours. If you are a fan of Eminem then this is a spot to check out. If you are craving spaghetti then this is also the spot to check out in downtown. Other than that you're not missing much. read more
Mom's Spaghetti is Eminem's restaurant that is in partnership with owners Curt Catallo and Ann Stevenson, the husband and wife team who owns Union Kitchen. This restaurant is located on the south side of Union Assembly Restaurant and right across the street from the Comerica Park. For those of you wondering, Mom's Spaghetti is named for the famed first verse of "Lose Yourself," Eminem's single for the 2002 movie he started in, 8 Mile. The scene where Eminem's character is locked in a bathroom, drenched in sweat and washing off regurgitated spaghetti to his hoodie. The lyrics play "Knees weak, arms are heavy, there's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti"..... I am a fan of Eminem, more so of his older stuff and was actually surprised to find out that this restaurant exist. Being that my husband and I were on a road trip in the Midwest, I decided to add a stop in Detroit, MI so that we could check it out. After getting parking several blocks away (just our luck to come on a Friday evening when there happened to be a Detroit Tiger's game on the same night.... parking was definitely a challenge), we walked over here down the alley way and arrived a little after 9 pm. There was only one person at the window, but he had already ordered so it was nice that there was no line. After looking over the menu, we ended up getting: Spaghetti Bolognese, $12, tax included- Just as everyone has said, the portions are huge and can easily feed 2-3 people. I really liked the sauce and thought it was very flavorful. The noodles were cooked perfectly. This was served with a half slice of garlic bread, which was oily but tasty. Spaghetti with balls, $12, tax included- My husband wanted to have his own meal, so he ordered this. Just like mine, he also got a half slice of garlic bread. He had at least 6 meatballs in his container. He also thought the spaghetti was tasty. ---------------------------- (Total= $24 after tax) Honestly for the amount you get, the price is actually quite reasonable and I really enjoyed the spaghetti over a few meals. The employee who took my order was friendly. She was so kind to ask if I wanted a paper bag for our order since I was trying to place our order in a plastic bag that I had in my pocket. Because the paper bag is a bit flimsy, I asked her if I could have a second one to double bag so that the bag doesn't rip on me (with such large portions, these meals are heavy). According to an article I read from the New York Times, the pasta is made a day ahead of time because noodles do take a while to cook. The food is reheated in a wok and served to the customer. This doesn't bother me since spaghetti typically taste much better the next day, once the sauce and the seasonings used have time to mingle and get more flavorful. Anyways, if you wish to consume your purchase, you can go next door to Union Assembly and eat either on the first floor or the second floor, with designated seats for Mom's Spaghetti customers. But of course the major draw of stopping by here is the trailer on the 2nd floor to browse and purchase souvenirs. You can also view the Robin costume from the music video for "Without Me" that is in a display case. There are no prices on any of the items for sale, which I don't know why it's like that. But anyways, Mom's Spaghetti shirts and hats are $30 each. Eminem shirts are $25 and shot glasses are $10. Definitely worth a visit if you are an Eminem fan. read more
I LOVE this place. It's a very short walk from the hotel indigo and I was walking back from work with a friend. If anyone's curious, January is the coldest month in Detroit, but I made him wait for me so I could get a spaghetti sandwich. To be fair, a friend had wanted to go too, but got transferred and wasn't able to join us. For what it is- 5 stars! Spaghetti in to go containers from an alley window in Detroit! The spaghetti sandwich is what I ordered and it hit the spot. The garlic bread toast and the gooey cheese made this sandwich so good!!! If you are in Detroit and an Eminem fan this is a must for an easy quick dinner. We were able to get seats inside, but there aren't many. If you have a larger party, plan on taking the food to go. Before you leave, make sure to check out the exhibit upstairs with Eminem's collection of memorabilia and items from his music videos. read more

A must try when in Detroit. The set up is pretty unique. You order through a window in the alley of the busy downtown area. At first glance you'll be a little discouraged to see the amount of people huddled around, but the wait time isn't too bad and I would have to say it's definitely worth it. There is very limited indoor seating. We didn't have an issue finding a table. Now to the food! We weren't expecting much, but to our surprise it was really good! Fresh, hot, comfort food. A must-visit for Eminem fans and a nice place to stop even if you're not a stan. I got the b rabbit order which is spaghetti with vegan "meat"balls. The portion is quite large so it's worth the $14, and the food tasted quite good. It also came with a slice of garlic bread! One small complaint was that none of the artwork on the first floor of the trailer had any Eminem-related references. Upstair there's an amazing collection of Eminem swag and memorabilia, including the Robin costume from Without Me, some excerpts from his notepad when he was writing lose yourself and lots more. There's a bunch of t-shirts and hoodies available too. They're reasonably priced, around 25-35 for a t shirt and 50-70 for hoodies. read more
