Yes, it is inside of a Gas Station and it seems odd, with outdated decor, and sometimes it can take longer than you'd like to prepare your food....But this is by far the best Indian food we've ever had. Definitely worth the wait (we call our order in ahead and come pick it up) and definitely worth trying. Wife is pregnant, and craves their Chicken Tikka Misala all the time. read more

Mom's Spice is in a gas station but don't let that turn you away! Great Biryani and Tikka, Naan and more... If you need it a little milder tell them like I had to. Buffet was not appealing so ordered Chicken Tiki Masala. Big portion fed 2 adults along with naan & rice. Definitely a dive but very authentic Indian cuisine with lots of hot spice. Mom's Spice may be a little hole in the wall inside a gas station but the food is 5 star extraordinaire! The lunch buffet is small but VERY delicious and satisfying. The chef does not hold back on the spice either. It tastes rich and authentic! Thursday evening's they have a Bengali Buffet that I will be trying out tonight for the first time. Rude, slow, and dishonest service. Food is decent, but they have a surcharge for using your ATM card, not that they actually told me, I had to ask what the extra charge was for the guy said, "Oh we have to charge when you use your ATM"...I said I would pay cash he said I was too late the charge already went through...Nowhere in their store does it say there's a charge for using your ATM card, obviously it's not the money it's the principal. I went for buffet after reading very positive review in Star-Telegram. Wow, that meal slapped me upside the tastebuds! The place was packed, and had many natives from the sub-continent.I took this as a good sign and asked the opinion of one and he said this was like excellant homecooking from his region.That was the ultimate endorsement to me, so i took the wife and she liked it too. My wife and I have been enjoying Indian cuisine for years - from London to HURST TX! and many, many points between. We love the freshness and personalization of individual entrees but are slaves to the variety of the lunch buffet. Mom's is the 99% solution, with an addictive and unique fresh spiciness that you just don't find at other Metroplex Indian buffets. Granted, the selection and ambiance are not at all overwhelming, but the spinach side* and cauliflower side* are superb staples regardless of meat/chicken offerings of the day. Tuesdays and Fridays are chicken masala days, and although it is a tad light on chicken, the masala sauce, as I said, addictive. One nice sized side of personally prepared spicy fish comes with each buffet (if it's extremely busy they sometimes don't mention it to newcomers, so ask for it- good stuff!, and the fish goes wonderfully with the naan that is also individually prepared. One side note for newcomers - because they use the "real thing" spices, once in blue moon you'll find a piece of seed/spice* in the meat entrée - maybe eat a bit slower and savor?? Locals, please support this place.. we've lost too many Indian upstart options in HEB over the years. I often keep these little secret places to myself for fear of overcrowding, but I always go early and you'll see me leaving when you get there. Finally, midweek specials on Tandoor chicken and chicken briani- you can get the briani regular or spicy; either way it's moist, fresh, spicy, and unlike some Irving take-aways, actually has some chicken in it. *I should know the names, but I always get them mixed up. The food is absolutely amazing. I went for the buffet and it was fabulous!!!!!!!! Seriously, I've never had Indian food as amazing and flavorful such as this. The owner is absolutely down to earth and kind. I went another time to order food and the owner made sure we were completely satisfied and made the food exactly to our liking. This is a hole in the wall restaurant inside a gas station. The buffet is simple and limited but everything was excellent. Tandoori chicken was probably the best I've ever had. Buffet was 7 1/2 bucks compared to $13 for burger fries and Coke at five guys. They actually do serve burgers here, if I were them I would push the burgers just to get people in the door. read more

I don't really get it what good bout this place to have five star reviews. I think these people never been to other fast food indian restaurants to compare. Greasy rice with chicken (mostly naked bones only), they called em' "biryani". That's not biryani, period. If u really want fine biryani, go to any indian fast food restaurant in irving, you will see the difference in food, taste as well as in price. They charge $4.99 for so called biryani whereas any fast food restaurant in irving charge only $2.99 (some place even for $1.99 only), you can get quality biryani. Anyway, let's make it short. Friend of mine took me there few weeks ago for dinner buffet. Guess what, there was only 4 peeps, us two and two other patrons. Total 5 dishes, out of five, 2 were only eatable. Fish tray was all empty before we get there, the owner saw it but he didn't even bother to refill it. I was like, r u for real?, it is dinner buffet after all. We spend almost half hour, and he didn't care at all. I told my friend, well that was amazing customer service. And, i never knew that u get charged for "naan" in dinner buffet. I have been to hundreds of indian restaurants, and everywhere "naan" is included in buffet. Oh yea, one other thing they intentionally made their food super spicy hot so people eat less. That's their motive. The food was so super spicy hot that it literally burn your throat with hiccups. And, the price was $8.99, which is too much for the quality of food and service they serve. Omg this place is so dirty! I really start getting into chicken biryani so I wanted to give this spot a shot since the place I go to is far ( Al Marqaz in Carrolton). Long story short I ordered my food and wait for it to be ready since I wanted to go. As I was sitting there I observed the place and was disgusted. The floor was disgusting didnt look like it havent been mop for days. The table we sat got all kind of food stains on it and seem like all tables around it were that way, nobody care to even clean it up. Even the worker look dirty, her apron were so dirty looking it got all kind of white stuff and brown stuff all over. I am all about mom and pop restaurant and usually the "hole in the wall" places usually are very yummy. But being that this place look so dirty and didnt seem like they care about hygience so I feel like I dont trust them with my food, I couldnt even get pass that. By the time I got my food it was no longer appealing to me and although they give alot of food for the price I had a few spoon and was done! The owner seem nice though, there are two mexican ladies that work there. The older one seem nice, the younger one looked like she hate her job and when she told me to signed the credit card receipt she just slammed it on the table. I think I'll pass with this restaurant. Zero ambiance, but the food is great. I had the buffet, a bargain at $7 everything tastes real, like it was made in a kitchen rather than a factory. Finally, Indian food that is spicy, I was tired of eating bland curries and, despite other comments, I loved the nan. I was at this hurst restaurant mom's spice on 21st november2017 around 2 pm.I had ordered biryani special paid up front when owner was out.He then came in.I wanted to pick up 2 items off buffet to go then pay for gulab jamun.He suggested small containers instead of the usual cups. then he did not want me to get off buffet.usually to go items are by the lb. I was under the impression that's what it still was.He then tried to dissuade me from obtaining the spinach saying it was the last leftover.i told him what did he care as long as he got hisssss money.He then brought out the containers . I filld them put it on the weigh counter.Then he said those items were not by weight.He then tried to charge me an outrageous price.I refused.He then said they were free.I told him I did n"t need it that bad to pay an outrageous price.I then paid for jamun.As I was leaving,he asked if I wanted more water.I asked him sarcastically"that's still free, isn't it". and left.He came running the parking lot saying I left the two item containers behind.I told him I did not pay for it.So he could take it and scam the next unsuspecting customer outrageous price!!!!.This old man is committing deceptive trade practice.He cheats his waitresses of charge tips the Mexican girls said.I do not leave tips on credit card no more.I make it a point to give them cash tips.He is very predatory towards Hispanic employees.He is disgustingly evil.He allows the indian customers to reuse their plates for the buffet.Health hazard.I will not be going there anytime soon.While I give 5 stars for their quality of food,I give 0 stars for the old man owner.Its all about money with him.Pakka stingy guy.I truly feel sorry for his mexican employees. read more

Mom's Spices at Chevron Gas Station off Hwy 10 opposite to Bell Helicopter in Hurst TX is not very fancy place but food is excellent. Adnan the owner and staff are friendly and very courteous people. If you never tried its lunch buffet then one of this day you must check it out which is available only on Mon. thru Fri. very reasonably priced menu. Besides buffet items complementary baked fish and fresh naan are out of this world. If you never been to this place then Lunch Buffet will give you better idea of its consistent quality and rich taste. Often I order chicken biryani to go with some gravy on top of biryani with raw onions and raita is very filling and something you ought to try.Once you go to this place, I bet you will become addicted or one of its regular customer. I am very fond of biryani and this place has excellent biryani, fried onions mixed with while cooking in very flavorful basmati rice with fully blended in Indian spices makes this place's birayani one of the best in DFW Metroplex. Check it out, you will not regret. By the way this place used to be in Irving off Hwy 183, after owner lost his lease due to highway expansion he moved to this location in Hurst, TX change of place but no change in quality at all. Mom's Spice provides excellent value with their food, that highly makes up for the lack of aesthetically pleasing hole-in-the-wall appearance of a restaurant inside of a gas station. I've been trying many different Indian Food restaurants for decades and this one is by far the best and authentic. It's our new favorite place to eat. The owner is awesome, warm, friendly and genuinely cares; taking time to speak with the customers even though the restaurant is usually very busy. The Chicken & Vegetable Biryani are my favorite meals so far and my boyfriend enjoys the Beef Curry. We each order the Naan bread to aid in getting every last drop. The bread may not be the type of naan I've had in the past, yet Mom's Spice has a way of making it to be soft, chewy and even with parts like a cracker. So it provides a good variety of options while eating. Even though the food is pretty spicy, we feel healthier since we've been eating there. It's so delicious, too! Mmmm, my mouth is watering just writing this! ... Hhhmm, next, I think I will try the Aloo Kebab and Samosas. Yum! read more
