As I tend to travel to Vermont twice a year to see friends, I always make it a point to stop in Woodstock, as it's a really nice little town. After my third trip to the town, I finally found this place, and i'm glad I did. It is absolutely delicious for breakfast and/or lunch. I have maybe been here about 6 times now, and everything has been good. I've had the french toast, lox & schmear, as well as some rotations lunch dishes. Saturday noon during "leaf peeping" season is crowded and busy time for Woodstock restaurants. The shortage of service workers does not help. Arrived here mid-morning and it was rather busy; most of the tables and seating area were already occupied and this made me think it was the place to be. We walked up to the counter and the order taker did not greet us. His body language and demeanor shouted, "What do you want?" Well, we took our time which probably irritated him all the more. But hey, there was no one waiting behind us and this being our first trip in we wanted to get the layout of the land and menu. Ordered placed and getting a "fancy coffee and pastry" was rather expensive. I am learning that VT is rather pricey than one would expect. We waited for our items to be prepared. As I was waiting for our coffee I noticed that two of the coffees were sitting at the counter - now mind you I was there the whole time. I inquired what the items were and learned that they were mine; luckily they were still hot. The coffees were decent and no complaints. If you are in the area and looking for coffee it will do the trick. I just do not think the price was worth what you got, but maybe it is VT. The pastry items were decent and like the coffee, nothing to write home about. Overall, we had coffee and a baked good; and a forgettable experience. read more

Cool little place but very crowded. There were at least 20 people constantly in a line. No guided seating. There are some outdoor seating. There is a second floor but no sign tells you the second floor has seats that you can look for. I was trying to decide what coffee to have while 20 people behind me waiting. I can only pick from what's on the board...I got a autumn foliage latte (it says maple syrup and expresso) but when I got it it is just a grosser version of pumpkin spice latte. I asked the staff (at the coffee counter) why this one contains the spices and what's the difference between the two (I didn't order pumpkin spice because I am not a big fan of cinnamon). The answer was "they are almost the same. if you want maple syrup you should order maple syrup latte" (which was not on the board). No offer "do you want to order a different one?" and it's impossible that I can wait another 20 minutes in line to get another coffee... In my opinion the right customer service, if not to give me a free coffee, at least is to get me a different one and let me pay for it without being in the line again. read more

Came late afternoon and it was a nice small place but big inside. I got a egg nog latte which was delicious, not too sweet and medium sized. It did set me back a bit more than $6 which is very expensive for a flavored coffee. They do have other flavors and regular coffee as well as food. The food was fabulous! They don't take reservations or call ahead seating. It's a first come first serve for the tables which are only outside. Then you have to go inside to order but only one in your party may do so. Here's a quick tutorial on how to not be frustrated with the chaos we experienced. One of you stay outside watching for an open table and the other go inside to order. Be sure to order EVERYTHING at the same time. Maybe this less orderly way of running things works when they aren't slammed? Even though it was a little (okay a lot) confusing, it was worth it because the food is fantastic! I came here with a friend after a hike in Woodstock. Neither of us had been before but the menu looked interesting and the coffee seemed promising. I wish it lived up to our expectations. My friend got the house-blend hibiscus iced coffee which didn't have any hibiscus flavor and overall tasted watered down. She enjoyed her chicken zesto sandwich but said the portion size for the price was not worth it. I ordered the coffeehouse brisket sandwich which had great flavor from the basil aioli and the picked red onions. While it was piled high arugula, there was barely any actual brisket. Also disappointing was that I couldn't taste the coffee marinade on the brisket (probably because there was so little of the meat). While the flavors at Mon Vert Cafe appear to be hit or miss, the ability to sit on the outdoor patio is nice. Unfortunately, like most restaurants in Woodstock, Mon Vert Cafe falls victim to being overpriced for what you actually receive. If I could rate this place 2.5 stars I would. read more

Four of us were in the area and Yelp reviews helped us find Mon Vert plus the fact that their outdoor dining area is dog-friendly, this was our Saturday morning destination. Upon arrival around 9:30 am, the outdoor dining are was almost completely full and we were lucky to find a table for 4 in the corner. At the time, there was only one other table (for 2) available. We read that you order inside, take a beeper and they will deliver to your table. Three of the four went in as I sat outside with the dog. It took them about 10 minutes at least before they surfaced outdoors again stating the line was long. Several reviews made comment about the staff so I asked my friends and they said the order taker was quirky...he never really made eye contact and was snippy about a few questions regarding menu items. He later came out to clear a table near us and looked over at us as if we had made the mess on the adjacent table while mumbling something in our direction. It was a rather strange moment. The 4 stars is for the food ... the breakfast burritos (of which 3 of us ordered) was grilled, filled with egg, salsa and guacamole. The only complaint is we wished the egg, salsa and guacamole were integrated more rather have the egg on the left, a row of salsa in the middle and the guacamole on the other side. When you took a bite, you'd either get all egg or all guacamole. The challa French toast was very light and buttery, a portion huge enough to share. The iced coffee was also great. Outdoor dining was pleasant. If they could just train the staff to be a little more helpful and friendlier, this would be a win! read more

My significant other and I stopped by this cafe after rock climbing and immediately fell in love with this cute joint. I had the Caesar wrap (on a baguette rather than the wheat tortilla) and my significant other had the turkey chipotle with avocado on toasted sourdough. Everything was delicious. The food is pretty good, but overpriced which is not a surprise because everything in Woodstock is pricey and they have no competition. I didn't get to try the challah french toast (they were out of challah), but enjoyed the eggs, potatoes and egg sandwiches I had. One day we picked up pastries to go and I was very impressed by their version of a chocolate croissant. My husband & I popped in here for breakfast for the first time. Upon walking in you're a little unsure of what to do next. Do you wait to be seated or get in line to order? Quickly we realized you get in line to order. Once you've ordered you are handed a light up pager with a number & you then find a place to sit. Problem is there weren't enough seats for the 3 of us. After a while we shared a table with a nice group that was willing. Food took a little longer than I'd like, but nothing tremendous. The kicker was, the group who shared their table eventually got their food too - a bag to go. So they were taking up about 6 seats for a to go order.
