Stopped here for coffee on a rainy Monday. It was packed but we still managed to get a seat, though it wasn't comfortable. There was barely any space for moving around, as the seating here is cramped and not suitable for everyone, e.g. if you have mobility issues, you might find it hard to move about and find a comfy seat. Ordered a latte, it was OK. It was warm and not hot. I would normally ask for them to make me another cup but given that times are hard and I want to support local businesses, I didn't make a fuss. I'd love to return someday and try some of their food.

Cute little cafe, great coffee in ceramic mugs, yummy pastries and an all time favorite, Benedict!

Decent vintage hipster themed coffee shop. Parking here is pretty awful. The metered spots free up at 2200 though. The interior basically looks like they painted over the interior of a dumpy old building. Yes, this coffee shop takes up the famous (Flatiron style) wedge shaped part of the building. The seating is basically 1 large boardroom style table in the middle, with some smaller tables along the perimeter. The middle table can be good for groups. I didn't see any power sockets though. Staff are friendly and helpful. Got my coffee nice and quick. Tasted a bit burnt though. Knock 1 star off. Also got a kick out of their cute mini milk cream fridge. It's secured and screwed down. Guess too many people thought about walking off with it.

A cute little cafe in Gastown serving coffee, pastries and even gelato! I went there on a Monday after work, it was not that crowded and was easy to find a table for 2. I would say that the space is a little tight, so if you are looking to have a private conversation, this might not be the place. I got their Ferraro cream puff which was amazing!!! Super chocolatey and gooey on the inside but a little crispy on the outside. They also had a strawberry flavour which I was intrigued by. My friend got their 2 scoop gelato - mint and espresso on a waffle cone. The gelato was good :) however, my friend said that it made the waffle cone pretty soggy towards the end. They also had a charcoal cone and regular cone.

Ultra cute coffee shop with pastries and sandwiches right in the middle of Gastown! The gelato in the window drew us in but I was more hungry so I opted for a chicken Gouda sandwich and pistachio tart. It does get crowded and seats are tight. But it's cozy and cute! Free WiFi and friendly service!

    Matcha lattes, color is terrible

Matcha was just straight milk. They also got my order wrong several times as I tried ordering it. Blue matcha latte was severely watered down. Despite its convenience in Gastown, do not recommend.

This cafe is in a great location, with lots of seating. Good views to people watch while working. Definitely not clean though. Food stains on the floor (old teabag in window sill) and tables. Looks good from far, but far from good. The food .... All I had was the small donuts and they were not fresh and had no flavour. A serious disappointment. Especially after having local baking that was next level delicious. I also had a Spanish coffee which was new for me. It was not bad, but honestly, I won't be back. You can do better around here. ESPECIALLY for any baked goods! I'd skip this spot.

Cafe with quite a lot of seating on the perimeter of Gastown. They have some interesting drinks not seen elsewhere like a blue matcha latte and pink latte. They also have a good selection of pastries. The savoury items are limited and they only have a basic croissant for croissants. Also, many pastries were sold out by the afternoon. The staff, while friendly enough, are not very good at their job. They could not tell us what a blue matcha latte was or what was in it. They also repeatedly got our pastry order wrong to the point we had to ask them to fix it three times. They also told us they didn't have any left of an item when they had multiple left. While the drinks and food are decent, correcting the staff over and over and the staff not knowing their products is a major turn off when there are so many cafes to choose from.

I was a bit disappointed by the latte that I had at Monaco Cafe. There is a decent amount of seating but I found the cafe and the bathrooms a bit dirty while I was there (although to be fair it was a rainy dat). The latte itself was quite plain and nothing special. With the abundance of options of cafes in the Gastown area, this is sadly a miss for me.

It's in a wonderful location, right in the heart of gastown. However, the blue matcha latte was just straight milk. Didn't taste like matcha at all. The tiramisu was ok, nothing special. Both the treat and the drink came out to $17.. far too expensive in our opinion

We also ordered the roast beef sandwich, which was cold when we got it. The roast beef sandwich also came with one pringle chip and like a half of a cracked one. I should've took a picture of that, but we were kind of just shocked by it, to be honest. The service was good. There was a language barrier, so definitely some miscommunication and misunderstanding, but they were nice overall. The bread was hard like croutons, not sure if it's supposed to be served like that since I'm not from this area... The mocha was good. I think if I got their pastries, then I would've been satisfied but I got their food because I came in during breakfast time in the rain and didn't want something too sweet and wanted something warm. If you like your tomato soup without cheese or cream, then you will like it. If you like it more on the orange side, you should probably order something else. It had good flavor, but again, didn't have any cheese or cream. They also said we couldn't do take out for the soup because it was hard to pack or travel with, so I asked if I could just get the mocha to go and they put it for here. Again, I think there was just some miscommunication because of the language barrier. The ambiance is nice. Feels like somewhere you would study if you want some peace and quiet. The music was nice and calm. I would come here again for a quick coffee.

    The food display.

Their pastries are good, but their coffee is not the best. Great location and a pretty atmosphere, but also busy because of this.

We ordered the following: Tiramisu Latte Caprese Bite London Fog Apple Cookie Cherry Matcha Tonic Tiramisu Sea Salt Caramel Gelato The Cherry Matcha Tonic was pretty but wasn't too crazy about the flavor. I should have just gone with my original gut instinct and chosen a hot beverage like Hojicha Latte or something like that. I was sort of thirsting for something cooler for a change though, and the Cherry Matcha Tonic was the first "cool" drink that caught my eye so I decided to go for it. Won't do that again. Everything else was good though. The Sea Salt Caramel Gelato was the star of the show! In the store there's a sign beneath their gelato section that says "Canadian Gelato Champion". I believe it after tasting the Sea Salt Caramel! They had Nama Chocolates too. I was tempted to get some but...only so much a person's wallet and waistline can handle at one time. Will try the Nama Chocolate some other time. You can order in person here, or you can place an "Express" order at the Kiosk. We tried both ways of ordering. Ordered at the counter first and then after finished my Cherry Matcha Tonic decided I wanted to try the Sea Salt Gelato so then tried ordering that from the Kiosk. Most of the parking in this area is paid but I lucked out and got a free spot right around the corner from this place!

I could tell even from outside that it's a popular work and study type of coffee shop with your free wifi and outlets. I hope this post doesn't give it away and make it way too crowded for me to find a seat next time. There's a steady flow of people visiting the stores while I was there on a weekday between late afternoon and early evening but there's always extra seat for anyone new looking for a desk to work or chat with friends. A few could be better are the pricing and temperature. They offer free oat milk substitute and -$0.35 for bringing your own cup but no more employee discount. And it was so cold in there, I could see a lot of people kept their winter jackets on, I don't think it's a heating issue but the constant windy seems to suggest the AC is on rather than the heater, oh wells Im out of there now. For that reason, unless I'm bundled up, it'll be a hard sale to be back again! I got a hojicha latte and it as pretty good, perfect sweetness and temperature for my cold with no ice. The barista was super great to work with.

Knowing how good 49th Parallel is with coffee I thought I'd try their version of the London Fog. I wasn't disappointed. In fact it was best London Fog I've ever had. I've had them at other places but I've never seen a preparation like 49th. They use loose leaf Earl Gray tea in a tall paper tea bag. They put the bag in your cup pour the steamed milk in and the tea steeps right into the milk. It's the smoothest London Fog I've had and isn't cloyingly sweet like many I've had.

I was in need of a snack and this was a short walk from our hotel. 49th Parallel is well known for their thoughtfully sourced, house-roasted coffees and their cult-favorite donuts, but they also offer a small menu of sandwiches if you're looking for something more filling. It wasn't too busy when we got there, though most of the tables were taken. We ordered a mix of sweet and savory: the chestnut brûlée donut, a salted caramel old fashioned, and a couple of breakfast sandwiches--the Doug and the Cascadia--both served on soft, buttery brioche buns. My other half also grabbed an Americano to go with it all. The chestnut brûlée donut was my fav of the bunch. The chestnut flavor was perfectly balanced--nice and light. The sandwiches were also good, especially thanks to that pillowy soft brioche. Overall, 49th Parallel was the perfect stop for a small, simple snack! Would recommend.
