We love trying new spots and my guy found a menu he liked, so we went to Euphoria on Halloween (a…read moreFriday night), not knowing anything but the menu. The vibe inside is very Eden meets 90s lounge, and the music is R&B chill. I was jamming very song so that's a +++. We were greeted right away and service was like that all night. The staff was the best part! They were friendly, attentive, and all in costume (which was cute). I revived drink recommendations and tried 2. Both were good. Purple Rain (smoother) and the Blackberry Lemon Drop (sharper). There are many more that look delicious, too, so I'll try more one day. We started with the collard green dip appetizer and that was our favorite food item. It was served with seasoned (and warm!) pita chips. I only wish it was a little thicker. Our entrees had good portions and came out hot. I enjoyed the jerk salmon overall but wish the meat itself had its own flavor too. The jerk did it all in this case. The collard greens were good to me (my guy wished for less salt/seasoning). My guy had the lamb chops, greens, and mashed potatoes. He was okay with everything but not in love with anything but that dip! All in all I think we will return to try more of the menu and I'll certainly be back to try the cocktails.

My wife had the Cajun chicken Alfredo, which was also outstanding--rich, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. We also tried the sweet potato cornbread, which was wonderful and a definite standout. Both of our cocktails were well made and complemented the meal nicely. On top of the great food and drinks, the service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional throughout. We'll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Suitcase Social Club Dispatch No. 47: "Timmy vs. The Lumberjacks"…read more If you've ever wondered what happens when a grown man with sales quotas, a mild caffeine imbalance, and the attention span of a golden retriever discovers competitive lumberjack sports streaming on the bar TV... well, allow me to submit Exhibit A. I wandered into Main Street Bar & Eatery for what was supposed to be a "quick bite between quotes." Instead, I became spiritually welded to a barstool while the TV blasted a man in flannel yeeting a chainsaw like it owed him money. And the fried pickles. Good grief. Those things ambushed me. One minute I'm thinking "I'll just have a snack," and the next I'm waist-deep in a basket of fried circles of temptation, crunching my way into oblivion while pretending to "work." My laptop was open, sure, but let's not lie to ourselves -- I got absolutely nothing done. I was too busy yelling advice at professional lumberjacks like I'd trained for this moment my whole life. Tim the Suitcase Regular Rating Breakdown: * Atmosphere: Cozy but with the unpredictable energy of a log-rolling final * Food: Fried pickles that could ruin a man's productivity in the best possible way * Service: Friendly, fast, and kindly nonjudgmental of whatever fever dream I was living in * Entertainment: 10/10 involuntary lumberjack immersion If you're looking for a place where you can lose an entire afternoon under the noble banner of "I swear I'm still working", Main Street Bar & Eatery is the arena. Suitcase Social Club™ stamp of approval: Earned.

Heirloom Travel Tip:…read moreAvoid the Sports Bar - this is easy to do. Do visit the Heirloom restaurant - Pleasant date night with your wife. Ambience, ambience, ambience and NO tvs. Hannah was our pleasant young server; I asked Hannah to confirm that she is a lifelong resident of Spartanburg, and the pleasing Carolina voice was a moral boost. Earlier we had enjoyed the Kentucky voice of Angel- both girls were angels. Heirloom has a small menu and a small dining room, but extra large hospitality. Because of a buffet lunch, we settled on burgers - No, cannot prepare medium rare. Very possibly menu items have spent a good deal of time in the freezer. Heirloom is on our way to weeks autumn and spring at Hilton Head, so we shall revisit. Merits 5 stars (not for food) for neat dining experience.

It's my birthday!!!! So I chose this restaurant because I wanted to try something different…read moreinstead of going to one of our usual spots. We live in Greenville, so this was definitely outside of our usual scope. I love the name of the restaurant, the decor and atmosphere were nicely done. The staff greeted us with a smile and our server...whose name was "Creamer" was knowledgeable and very helpful. We ordered Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and mini hand made biscuits for appetizers which were pretty good. My youngest son and I both ordered Salmon (altered from the what's on the menu) sweet potato puree I ordered the corn and my son ordered asparagus, my husband ordered Gumbo and my oldest son ordered a steak. The presentation of the food was nice and the food was good, I enjoyed my meal but I tasted my husbands gumbo and we both felt that it lacked flavor...for it to be creole gumbo and a side of creamed corn (he and I could have shared that bowl...there was a lot). My oldest son felt that his steak was overpriced. Youngest son enjoyed his too. The food was good but I don't know if I'll be "rushing" to get back as there wasn't anything that just stood out to me.

Five stars all the way! From the moment we walked in, we…read morewere greeted with a genuine smile and seated right away. Our drink orders were taken promptly, and when the drinks arrived, they also took our food order -- smooth and attentive service from start to finish. We started with the buffalo chicken dip with pimento cheese and pita bread, which was outstanding. The pita was perfectly toasted on the outside while staying warm and soft on the inside -- absolutely delicious. For our meals, I ordered the Down South Chicken Sandwich, and my girlfriend chose the Korean BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent. We cut them in half so we could try each other's, and honestly, I loved both. The flavors, freshness, and quality really stood out. I live in Greenville, and I would gladly make the 50-minute drive just to eat here again. Amazing food, friendly service, and a great overall experience. Highly recommend -- I'll definitely be back soon!

The food, though? You'd be better off grabbing a box of Spinx chicken and a tall boy. As for the atmosphere--just a few neon lights trying (and failing) to distract from the fact that what they call "hot" is barely lukewarm. Update for the owners response: We ordered the Flocking Hot sauce on our sandwich. What we received was essentially the no-heat sauce with a few pepper flakes sprinkled in. We even asked for extra sauce, assuming there had been a mistake in reading the ticket--but the ramekin was the same: no heat, just pepper flakes. It was mild enough that my children dipped their nuggets in it. Rather than becoming defensive, it may be more productive to address and rectify the consistency and accuracy issues being pointed out.

Owners Richard and Crissy have taken a bar once known for its more conservative views and turned it…read moreinto a safe space for everyone. The crowd there is very accepting and welcomes every newcomer with open arms! They encourage an atmosphere of healthy communication and friendship! You won't find trouble or fighting there like you might at a lot of other bars at night. Easy access to a pool table gives you casual entertainment, as well as the bar sporting an arcade style bowling game and three separate TVs for watching pretty much whatever you are in the mood for. A Touch Tunes jukebox on the wall means that you can play any song your heart desires while you grab a cold one from their wide selection of beer and small selection of wine. Every once in a while, they have a fish fry hosted by a local fisherman who cooks on site, and on holidays, they offer food as well. Occasionally, they have a food truck on site. Not to mention, they have a small selection of snacks and sodas stocked at the bar at all times. Wednesday night is APA pool league night, and they welcome players to join their team, The Twisted Ducks, whether you are new to the game or an old pro. Saturday nights are Game Night and karaoke, and you can expect some great singers in the house. They offer a selection of board and card games available for you and your friends to join in on, of which the most popular are Cards Against Humanity and Heads Up! If you haven't checked this place out before, you're missing out. It looks daunting from the outside, but once you're in, the mood is absolutely wonderful! Everyone is a friend there, just waiting to connect with you! You should go down there and see what kind of fun there is to be had down by the river. You won't be disappointed!
