We are pleasantly surprised to find such an Asian gem in Simi. It really felt like a ramen shop you'd find in Gardena or San Gabriel Valley. Food: Very tasty menu, lots to choose from and they servings are quite large. The chicken katsu rice meal was very large, but fried well and the vegetables complement it well. The ramen we selected were tasty, hot, and filling. I loved the pork and think it's the best in the 805. It has a nice texture on the outside that you don't get with other ramen shops pork slices. And I loved their sweet tea. Very odd to have an Asian restaurant serve quality sweet tea, but it's a win for me. My only ding here would be no offering of kid's menu or portions. Service: Very friendly and attentive staff. We came in around 7pm on a weeknight and it was packed. But we were lucky to get seated quickly. Our food came out quickly and the staff checked on us regularly. Ambiance: Despite it being a small restaurant, the decor and energy felt traditional in a sense to how a ramen shop would be in L.A. on a busy evening. You are going to be seated near other customers and may have to share a large table with strangers. But the food is good and service is welcoming and quick. You will get seated before you know it. The food here was genuinely great -- flavorful, well-prepared, and definitely the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, the service really missed the mark. My son, husband, and friends all received their meals at the same time, but my food didn't arrive until about 10 minutes later, when everyone else was nearly finished eating. I asked the waiter twice about my meal, and there was no apology or sense of urgency. On top of that, he forgot my son's lemonade and my husband's beer. Good food can't fully make up for poor service, especially when it disrupts the experience for the entire table. This place is terrible. I had high hopes for the only Ramen restaurant in Simi Valley. The worst part is every time we go there broth taste different. Sometimes it's great. At others it's terrible but either way they don't care they won't refund your money even if you don't eat the soup I feel like their customer service needs to be better and understand that consistency is key. read more

I don't taste broth that has been cooked down from chicken feet / bones / pork fat... with proper flavor that can only come from slow cooking for hours. So.... I'm not one to usually leave reviews but this time I was beyond disappointed. My boyfriend and I went to this spot cause we had been craving it for a while. This wasn't our 1st time going we have been there a few times and have enjoyed it but the service this time was terrible. We get there and it's not busy we say for 2 and the server sits us gives us our menu doesn't introduce himself and leaves. We were already ready to order and had been waiting for like 15 minutes and were being patient when a group of 7 walks in and another guy by himself. The server sits them and we are like okay waiting another 5 minutes and that's when the servers goes to the group of 7 and starts taking their order. It was 2 of us having already been waiting 20 minutes and he goes to the group of 7. Didn't even check in with us about drinks or anything. We have never encountered a Server with such an "up" personality and she was hilarious too. MoneyKey Ramen is already a fan favorite in Simi Valley and I can see why. It was smart for them to open on this side of town as there really aren't any traditional ramen spots here. They have only been open about two weeks the staff told me but on a Saturday around 12pm most seats were filled. So happy to see! MoneyKey Ramen is the perfect example of how an overall experience can make a restaurant 5 stars. When every component is done right that truly elevates your experience. The ramen is more a solid 4 stars but with 5 star service, ambiance, meal pace, and price, it wasn't hard to give them a solid A+ 5 star review. First let's start strictly with the ramen. I have to agree with other reviews that this ramen is heavily Chinese influenced. Imagine a creamier wonton soup but sub wontons for ramen noodles. That's the flavor profile this ramen gave me. I did really enjoy it. There was clear depth to the broth. However, if you are coming in for a traditional rich Japanese tonkotsu broth you won't get that here. Regardless though, once I could put a name to the profiles I was tasting, I was pleased. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the pork was fatty and tasty. The egg was cooked perfect. Only upgrade again is the broth isn't as rich or flavorful as I would normally like, and unfortunately they don't have pure chili oil at this time. That would have really made the dish. So instead I added a little bit of soy sauce and chili paste which did make a big difference. The restaurant itself is very cute. It's a longer restaurant than it is wide. I was happy to snag a two seater by the window, made for a nice view and when eating alone that made it more cozy. They have booths and high top tables so a good variety. The customers ranged in age, race, and gender which was refreshing to see. Locals are clearly digging this place. The menu could use a few more ramen options being a ramen shop but maybe they will grow with time. They did have a nice small selection of sushi rolls, sashimi, and appetizers if you want to skip the ramen or get some starters to share. Menu prices were very reasonable. My bowl of ramen was humongous and was only $18. Trust me, it's a good sized bowl and I couldn't finish it. Staff were very nice and they are quick here. I appreciated that my ramen came out within five minutes of me ordering it. Also the check was out quickly once I had finished my food and I was grateful. Seeing how busy it was in there I did assume it would be awhile for my check and meal but that wasn't the case. They are top of it here and very friendly, genuine vibes. My server was Xian and he was a doll. Very friendly and kind. Made me feel valued as a customer. This spot is cute and if you're on this side of town it's worth checking out. read more

The only slight criticism I had is that I wish there was more beef in the spicy beef ramen - if it had 1 more beef chunk it would be more proportional to the amount of noodles. We got the Philadelphia roll as an appetizer and that was a good move and a good price ($11.50). We really liked the food and will be coming here again and again because service here is exceptional, the servers were attentive and very kind, and the ambiance is a 10/10. I love the theme/decor. Last night, I was there with two friends who had never tried ramen before. It was their birthday, and the staff overheard, creating a welcoming and cozy atmosphere of just the right size. Despite the 3 star review I still recommend trying this place for yourself! The nearest ramen place that I consider worth it is 20 miles away from my house in Simi so having this place open up and be something I even consider is saying something. My credentials are that I frequent Rococo, Nagi, and Iki so I consider my bar a little higher than the average ramen eater. Parking: Small-ish plaza but enough for the size of the restaurant. Service: attentive and polite. Ramen: I base my ramen reviews on the tonkotsu before all else and it's a solid "not bad." The noodles remind me of top ramen noodles with less bite which I find odd but not as displeasing as thin noodles. The chashu has a nice roasted pork flavor depending on the cut you get but it can be chewy and dry on the more meaty pieces. The broth is the strongest part of the dish being middle of the road in flavor but definitely spoonable. My wife had the garlic ramen and the chef's mushrooms are sooo good paired with the bamboo shoots. The noodles, chashu, and broth on her dish get the same description. My BIGGEST gripe is that the noodles appeared to be broken, like how some people break apart the dry instant ramen before boiling. If this is an actual practice then I don't know what else to say aside from who hurt you? If the noodles improve and get more bite/texture without being so short that would make this a frequent visit. If the chashu was improved to not be dry and chewy then paired with the improved noodles it would be a gem of a ramen spot so for now it's a good maybe in my book. read more
