I've been coming here for a long time, but my last experience during checkout was really disappointing. The woman at the register, who I believe may be the manager, was extremely rude when we were paying. She questioned how many to-go boxes I had and asked how many bowls we were taking home. I politely asked when they started charging extra for portions because we've been coming here for years and had never been charged before. She responded by saying we had two "XL bowls." I asked what qualifies as an XL bowl, since people tend to fill their bowls differently. Some put noodles on the bottom and meat on top, while I do the opposite, which may make it look fuller even though it's not much different in amount. She told me the policy has been in place since 2020 and said if the bowls fill halfway the bow it counts as an XL. This confused me because there were several other bowls on the bow as well, so I wasn't really sure how that determination was being made. The most disappointing part was the way the conversation ended. She said, in a very rude and snarky tone, "Well if you don't like it, you don't have to come back." I told her that response was rude. I understand businesses having policies, but the way customers are spoken to matters. After coming here for so long, the interaction left a really bad impression. read more

There are a couple different options to eat. You can get a single plate or all you can eat. And some other stuff. If you haven't eaten here before just do a single plate because I did not enjoy my meal got full and regretted it. It was okay. My food got burnt and was bitter. They cooked it such a long time the bowl of sauce I picked out had dried up. They even put more on while cooking it. My second plate was a bit better when there was a shift change. But still dry. It seems like a very casual place not very fancy. Probably a great place for college kids especially on Sunday's they have some sort of deal. So you grab a bowl and go down the line to pick what you want but there are a ton of signs threatening you not to overfill your bowl or they'll charge you extra. It was not fun it felt like a test I wasn't prepared for. There's also only one bar so if you want to think about what your going to get other people are waiting for you to get out of the way. The whole sauce thing is confusing too. They have sauce "suggestions" or make your own. But if your trying to follow the recipe on the glass they're aren't laid out clearly and once again you get in someone else's way. Also the cook is at the end of the sauce line demanding your bowl before you've finished your sauce. They also don't explain your supposed to use a different bowl for your sauce than the ones at the end. It didn't happen to us but I saw the staff call another customer out for this. I think it would be better to have an option to check off what you want and let the employees do it since it has to be done so specifically. read more

Went there for the first time today and had an excellent experience. We appreciated the very clear communication about options and pricing. The food was well stocked and fresh. The cook did an excellent job cleaning the grill between customers even though it was busy. We sat outside for COVID safety and they were incredibly cool with serving us out there. Drink refills were prompt, the food was delicious. A couple suggestions to add would be chopped garlic (in addition to or instead of garlic water) and fresh eggs to crack into the food. Although the fresh vegetables had a large selection and meats were adequate, my friend & I were absolutely floored and taken aback at the cost for 1 time thru lunches!! $52.10. I couldn't believe it and neither could she. Apparently which they did not inform us of if you keep your bowl too high or you have an extra bowl for your meat and vegetables in another bowl to go to the fry cook they charge you extra so there was an additional charge that we felt was unneeded unnecessary. Food is fresh and plenty of it.. they charged to an all you can eat during lunch times, aprox 15. And well worth it. Very clean and great service. The vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly with my choice of meat, chicken, beef or pork! And your lunch comes with white rice.. yummy ! It appears this place might have changed management. Bad service -- cold food that had not been cooked long enough -- wait staff that didn't serve the correct drinks with appropriate silverware -- overcharged on our bill which had to corrected -- given dirty spoon to use with my sweet tea (by the manager!) & the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting to say the least. Since the new owners have taken over there have been a lot of changes. One of the big changes has been how they have the food bar arranged and the change in how they price their food. I go in once or twice every other week as I work nearby. Today when I went in they determined that the amount of food I got was "too much" and up charged me. This was surprising because I got the exact same thing with the same amount of food I have always gotten. The normal price is around $15 for a to go bowl, this is already somewhat expensive but typically I have a small second meal out of it so I have continued to come in. Today, after I got charged I asked how much it was and was told it was instead $20.90. When I asked why, I was told it was because my bowl was too full... Why wasn't I told before being checked out or even cooking the food? Why has it not been an issue any of the other times I have come in to eat in house or dine out? I understand them as a business needing to make sure people are really not packing the food in but that isn't what happened here. Very disappointed. I won't be going in anymore. read more

Dirty and grimy. The cook uses the same tools to cook raw meat and then to serve up your finished food. The cilantro was black and molding. Apparently, there's no sharing so if you bring a small child who eats two bites, you still have to pay for a child's meal, which is eight dollars. read more

Staff was really sweet! I asked for my food cooked separately and the grill cleaned because of an allergy and the cooks completely disregarded what I said and cross contaminated the food! And the taller one with dark brown hair literally said "why do we have to clean the grill it doesn't make sense" then the other continued to cook other food people food with mine! Mongolian BBQ used to be one of my favorite places to eat at in Medford. When I was in college, it was great to go get a large bowl to go because I had leftovers for two days. Staff was always very nice and the cooks were always the best. Since the business sold after COVID, I haven't had as great of an experience with the food or the cooks the last three times I've been in. The change in bowl sizes is fine, whatever, but now all of the "rules" for filling your bowls, as well as using the separate sauce bowls, is just confusing. First, the cook determines on his own whether or not your bowl is "too full" and whether or not they will be charging you overage for that. Second, the last time I went in I got yelled at by the cook when I went around to the other side of the buffet to access the sauces on that side and was told to remain on one side (there were no signs) with no explanation; so, how do you get to the sauces all the way across from you without contaminating the other sauces in the front with both sauce spillage and hair (I have long hair)? The cook never cleaned the grill between customers, so my food ended up tasting like the food of all the other people in line ahead of me. There was also charred pieces of previous food, and the meat tasted burnt. I'm disappointed in the changes and will not be going back unless staff eases up on their ridiculous rules and the cooks actually learn how to use the grill. read more

Actually I love their food but the biggest draw back is that you cannot share. I understand their issue of people who cheat the system. However, my husband & I are a senior couple who generally share plates because our appetites are smaller now & because of our now limited income. There is no other restaurant in our area the doesn't allow us to share our meal. So, when we eat there we have to get it to go. Sometimes we'll eat it at their outside tables, out of the to go container. This restaurant should consider not penalizing their clientele for the bad behavior of others. I think they could be more creative to problem solve this issue. They would have much more of our business it they did. read more

Great service and generous portions. We moved to the area a little less than 2 years ago and had yet to find good Asian cuisine. Mongolian BBQ is almost a weekly outing for our family. The owner and family are wonderful people, who always treat us with a smile and great attitude. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a great meal. read more

Never going here again in. We both always get the all you can eat so we can take some home, however on this visit we were told that if we got the all you can eat we had to eat it there and couldn't take anything to go. So we both got a size we could finish there. I happened to not finish mine so when were getting ready to leave they asked if we wanted a Togo box..........still has me confused on this one. Also they didn't have a huge selection of stuff to add and as we were getting ready to add the sauce to our bowl the cook yelled at us that we had to put the sauce in a separate bowl to keep from contaminating things and as soon as we gave him out sauce selection he mixed it with the food....... on top of that the place wasn't very clean and the service wasn't the best. read more

1st) My new bride has fonder memories of Mg BbQ 2nd) Me ... not so much ( sigh ... not so much ) Most medium sized cities have a "Mongalion Grill" Guess Medford has one too ... the Medford version ... here's my impression of a far east eating experience ... Where do we begin ... ? Walking in ... looks tired, using very bland 80's style chairs and formica covered tables, of which almost all the table corners are chipped off and the formica missing. The room looks blaaah ! Nothing Mongolian versus a vacant large empty low maintenance un-inspired blaaah dining hall for retiree's and 1980'z paddle fans. They have sighs pasted everywhere explaining the sm, med, lg bowl charges ... and maybe they could/would charge extra for over-stuffing the ingredients... Okay... I get it ... ! Heading to the ingredients bar ... many of them were nearly empty ... with only salade bar type scraps in the bottom The serving tongs all tossed around ... laying inside the bins & contents ... looking picked over from lunch (we ate @ 3) Funny thing ... im a spinal patient, and decided to go back to my table waiting for the Mongolian Grill Cheff to toss the contents of the bowl I assembled ... anyway ... note the pic of this crusty "tips can" for chef ... Tacky ... grubby, slopped on, stained ... the counter i was leaning on... had that tacky/grubby cleaned off feeling with a bucket wash cloth ... table to table to table to table ... you get the idea. The chef had stopped swishing my meal, slid it into the bowel, placed it on the counter ... and walked away ... Guess it would have been a nice touch had he walked it over to my table with the meal... VoooWaahLaaaa ! Nope Oh well, we needed to move to another table anyway, the paddle fan over us ... was not wurkunnn & my wife needed a cooler space Any way ... there were only about 4 couples there ... The meal was as I made it ... it was hot ... it tasted fine ... thats all Nothing special ... but this afternoon meal was not worth the $30+ ticket, in a tired, aging resturante style model. I would have a better meal most anyplace else, feel more satisfied and had enjoyed the space. There is little effort by the owners of this space as they continue to charge high prices for so little. I was not transported to a plesant dining experience in Mongolia ... nope! So go elsewhere and support any other more enthusiastic eateries in Medford.
