My problem is not so much with the food, but the service. I experienced a bait and switch. I asked what came with my dish and was offered two choices, plain rice, or fried rice. I was told this server is a LONG time employee, and why does she not know better??? I went with the fried rice, but when the bill was delivered, a 3 dollar cost was associated with the rice. I asked why, but was told it was an additional charge. I protested the charge saying was NOT TOLD of upsell. I was refused. If I could give this place a -100000, I would. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour and ended up waiting over FOUR HOURS. Not a single order was correct, every one was wrong. When I asked for a refund, the manager was rude, dismissive, and acted like the chaos was somehow acceptable. The most disgusting part? I watched staff take food back from a customer who had already taken it home after being given the wrong order, repackage it, and then give it to the person who was originally waiting for it. That is beyond unsanitary and honestly shocking (or maybe NOT shocking based off of this experience.) Total incompetence, zero accountability, and downright nasty practices. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. Or just starve. That would probably be better than this place. Truly, I wish I could give a lower rating. I waited for 3 1/2 for my to-go order to come through after ordering. All while watching countless DoorDash orders be filled and dine-in customers be served. After finally receiving our food, half of the orders were completely wrong. Filled with allergens that we'd requested to be removed. Then upon requesting a refund for the order, the employee was incredibly rude and dismissive. We used to love this place! But since the ownership has changed, the prices have gone up, the quantity per serving has gone down, and the recipes have changed (more sugary thick sauces, different noodles, and completely different items under the same names -not for the better). They almost always mess up the take out order and we haven't gone back in the last 8 months, until tonight. We probably won't be back again unfortunately. This is hands down the worst Chinese food I've ever had the broccoli beef only had about a quarter ounce of beef and the fried rice was a mushy nasty mess with nothing in it , the beer was warm and skunked and didn't come with a glass and service was tired and not friendly but the price was absurd for tiny portions of garbage I will let everyone I know how bad this place is as often as possible they desperately need to close no one should have to suffer as I did hopefully they shit down asap. read more

We had a great dinner there tonight and tried one of the family combination dinners. The potsticker appetizer and crab puffs were tasty. Our 4 item plates were freshly prepared with nice crunchy vegees like we enjoy. The mar far chicken was lightly breaded and tender as we like. What's up: After spending a day at Crater Lake, we made our way down to Medford. We had a craving for Chinese food and did a quick Yelp search to see what was around. Parking: This place has parking right up front and around the restaurant. It is right next to the Chevron and the Royal Crest Motel. Environment: They are currently accepting take out orders only. Indoor dining will resume July 5th. Once you walk in, you can place your order at the counter. There is a menu posted on the wall next to the waiting area but you can also ask for a paper menu. The indoor seating is currently blocked off. What was ordered: - String Bean with Black Bean Sauce (tasty) - Ma Pao Tofu (more on the sweet side, but still pretty good) - House Special Low Mein (a bit on the salty side, lots of ingredients) - Steamed Chicken Vegetable Deluxe (it was ok) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. My wife had a craving for fried shrimp so we had lunch here the other day. We were very pleased. The portions were very generous. The service was terrific and the ambiance was great. We had the two item lunch; I had the chow mein with shrimp and she had the fried rice with shrimp. The chow mein was delicious, the main ingredient was bean sprouts which i always prefer over cut celery. The fried shrimp was delicious, cooked to perfection not greasy and not raw. The fried rice was very good and cooked just right. The lunch also came with your choice of soups. We chose the egg flower soup; the soup was very tasty, although it was made a little thicker than we prefer. read more

This place is waaaaay underrated. It looks a little sketch from the outside. This is primarily because it's connected to a hotel and has a gas station in the same parking area. The inside is lovely and the food is incredible! Even the egg flower soup was better than average. read more

The deluxe meal was reasonably priced at under $20. It came with BBQ pork,pork main,pork fried rice, deep fried shrimp and a shrimp egg roll. My mother's dish is visible in the background. We had ample leftovers as shown in the pictures. As a culinary professional, I found the flavors to be well-developed and nothing was bland, with the exception of the egg flower soup, which was pleasant but could have benefited from salt and pepper. Oh Baby-our new favorite Chinese restaurant! Easy on and off the 5 in southern Medford on Barnett! Prices are very doable but it is the food and the service that will bring us back! My wife had broccoli and chicken-I had pork chop suey and shrimp fried rice. The portions are huge and the food was some of the best Chinese I've ever had and I've been around the globe! The shrimp in the fried rice were huge and there had to be at least 15 of them in the dish! The pork chop suey was outstanding-great taste and lots of good veggies! My wife's broccoli chicken was perfectly cooked and also very good! Clean place and the only gripe is they need more help but so does every other restaurant because nobody wants to work-they had help wanted signs in the windows! The people working were a great team and did what they could to keep all happy! I love this place and will definitely be back soon! read more

Reluctantly went to New China tonight, as they've typically been a disappointment in the past. But I like to check back into places to see if it was just a fluke or if they've improved. To begin with, there was a party of 11 or 12 people in that side room and then one other couple in the main dining room. Yet we waited for over an hour for our soup, then it was another 20 minutes before we got our food. The waiteresses were pleasant enough, but were not thinking about us at all. Anytime we wanted anything, we had to get their attention and call them over; they weren't even looking at us. As far as the food goes, the General Tsao chicken was really stringy, even though the sauce was decent, and the fried rice was completely devoid of anything that goes into fried rice, except rice. My sister said there was nothing good about her dish at all. The tea was good. There were several that came in after us and waited around quite a while. Also, a homeless guy came in at one point, talked to the waitress, and she pulled some money out of the drawer and gave it to him. Another homeless guy came in and went straight for the poker room. Nope, this place is definitely not worthy of my return! read more

I found this restaurant on yelp. Omg, the restaurant is very nice. We sat in a booth and handed the menu. The menu has lots of options I went with the number one. It has pork chow mein, pork fried rice and sweet and sour pork it comes with soup. I had the hot and sour soup. The soup came out and one taste I knew I made the right choice I found the food here to be hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had. This doesn't seem like authentic Chinese food. We ordered the Garlic Chicken, which the menu said it was in a Szechuan sauce, but it wasn't a true Szechuan. It didn't have the flavor of Szechuan, and it was way too sweet. My hot and sour soup was also really sweet. I don't think they make their sauces from scratch. I think they come "premade." It was a good portion size, which it should be for $17. It had a great variety of fresh vegetables but was disappointing on taste. I doubt if we ever go there again. It's more of a "Chines Style" of cooking rather than authentic Chinese flavor. It's a shame. The chef needs to up his game a bit. read more

I ordered a spring roll, chicken chow Mein and fried shrimp. The spring rol skin was like crackle and about as big around as a nickel. No flavor. The chow Mein had exactly four pieces, small pieces, of chicken. My friend had the sweet and sour pork. We've come here several times over the years. The food and the atmosphere are okay, but the service has been hit or miss. The prices are probably a little on the high side, but not terrible. On several occasions we have encountered poor or rude service. The last time we were in was on Christmas Eve. A party of five or six came in and I saw the hostess inform them that a reservation would be required for any parties of more than four. A woman in the party informed the hostess that they had just called in to find out if they could accommodate their party, but that nobody said anything about needing a reservation. The hostess actually told this woman, "When we are busy we don't really have time to answer questions over the phone. Sorry." It was very awkward as she turned the party away with an insincere smile on her face. When the party left, I watched her and a server stand in the door to the kitchen and laugh as they talked about the interaction. I think I've had enough of New China. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants in town that actually offer friendly service without turning their dining room into an episode of mean girls, especially on Christmas Eve. read more

First time at New China and we loved it. Lemon chicken "perfect", broccoli chicken "delicious ", shrimp lo mein "great" plus we had appetizers spring rolls and pot stickers! OMG had we known the portions were so large we won't have got these. But hey, left overs will be good to right! The place was packed for take out! Chinese food in Medford, Oregon? Remember my experience with eating Chinese food in Kalispiel, Montana -never eat Chinese food in a place with no Chinese (Medford is 1.5% Asian). We came in on a rainy night on the last day in September. Could not figure out how to get to this place from the opposite side of Barnett road, as the turn in lead to a couple of addresses downward, and ended up driving way up the road and making a U turn on the opposite side of the bridge, before coming back. Driving while Asian! Typical Asian restaurant with fish tank, and Far East décor. Fish tank with tropical fish for looks only, not to eat. Large place with plenty of booths, with black vinyl. Few people, and all whites, both customers and staff. Extensive menu, but we didn't want any leftovers, so we choose one entrée, the $14.50 house special seafood, which came with one portion of rice and one portion of soup. So we ordered a second portion of soup. We wanted the hot and sour soup, but they were out, so got the egg flower soup instead, as their daily soup special. Not spicy, but bits of egg white flakes, with corn and peas in a flavorful broth. Hit the spot on this drizzly wet evening in Southern Medford. The service was prompt, with our house special seafood dish arriving quickly, with chicken, pork, shrimp, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, cabbage, broccoli, and snow peas mixed in a delicious sauce, spicy only to the local white folks! Food served on the table was fine, but I didn't care much for the waiter cleaning off the tables. brushing the food on the floor. At least there was no food on the floor in our booth, as I was wearing sandals, and would have hated to have dipped my bare foot in food crumbs! Final bill was $16.50 - $14.50 for the main dish with soup and rice, and $2 for the second soup serving. They take credit cards, but bill says cash tip preferred. I got takeout. The service was friendly enough and actually really helpful when I was ordering. The food was ok, not amazing. The restaurant itself looked and smelled really nice. I imagine it would be a nice place to dine in. It was Thursday evening at 430 and not too crowded when I arrived. Food was made and ready in a reasonable amount of time. I'd go back again. I saw two front of house staff, but they were working well as a team and handling everything that was going on including at least one table checking out, another table getting it's food, 3 other tables, and two other takeout orders besides mine. If New China gets 4 more staff like those two girls they'd easily be able to fill the dining room and keep all their customers happy. Can't give five stars because I saw the alcohol options and it left a lot to be desired. read more
