While she is absolutely lovely and seems sweet, I was horrified to be asked to spend $1 to use my ATM card/credit card to pay for a dental visit. I mean, I expect to pay 40 cents at Arco, and 65 cents at the inexpensive clothing places, or even $1 to at the nail salon to use the ATM card. But for professional services? And while being presented with a tidy estimate for work not covered by my insurance? I was also asked to sign for the HIPPA disclosure (hadn't gotten it-they needed to run more copies). Seems all paperwork is run on a copier. so as to be exceedingly illegible in spots! The dental assistant is a doll, but the clerical front office needs a LOT of help. I ended up having to walk out of the exam room after waiting 1/2 an hour for a previously scheduled appt for dental cleaning... I called to request the return of check I used to pre-pay my cleaning and received it in an envelope, photocopied with an old sticker showing the address. I worry about a Dr. who can't afford stationery. I'm so sorry, I'm a supportive person, but am VERY disappointed in the Blue Shield approved dentist. This would have been my first visit and a bad impression on the first visit. I'm in the parking lot after having the appointment for a month, then get a call they did not verify my insurance and I need to schedule for next week. I advise the office is very incompetent and they can verify my insurance in 5 minutes I have my insurance card with my name on it. I was told she did not know how to do it and the office manager is not in. I advise this was incompetent and not how to run a business either the dentist was not in. I am posting the result of the investigation on Dr. Moniaga cuz I just heard from the investigator for my son's case. The Dental Board of Ca issued Dr. Moniaga an administrative citation (1680 section P in business & professional code) and a fine in March 2018. If the dental board gets another complaint like this, she would have to go to court and possibly lose her license or have her license suspended. People like her should not be in health care profession. What makes my son's case especially upsetting is because my son has autism and cannot speak for himself. He is helpless and defenseless. Often, his aides would take him to see doctors. If anybody else had taken my son to see Dr. Moniaga (and if I were no longer around), they may not have caught her fraudulence and unethical practice, and she would have drilled on 4 perfectly normal teeth and my son would have lived with the consequences for the rest of his life!!!! (She said that my son had 13 cavities on 4 teeth when he had none!!!). I know of at least one other case where Dr. Moniaga did the same thing. I suspect she did this to more people. But so far no one else is taking the time to complain to the dental board. She also tried to get me to sign and pay for oral cancer screening and for just taking a look inside my son's mouth. That's absurd!!! I told her no other dentist does that and I refused to sign and pay. When I requested copies of my son's X Ray, she actually refused to give them to me, even though I had the legal right to because I am his legal conservator. I had to get Regional Center involved and they requested the X Ray and forwarded them to my son's other dentist. When my son's other dentist got the X Ray, he found to his horror that she actually sent somebody else's dental X Ray along with some of my son's dental X Ray!!! She also violated several Medi-Cal regulations which I do not want to get into. I would give her negative stars if I could. Don't see this dentist if you can help it. She should not be practicing dentistry. Period. I took time to report to CA dental board and am taking time to write this review because I don't want this to happen to anybody else. For your information, 1680 P administration citation means the following: 1680 P. "The clearly excessive prescribing or administering of drugs or treatment, or the clearly excessive use of diagnostic procedures, or the clearly excessive use of diagnostic or treatment facilities, as determined by the customary practice and standards of the dental profession. Any person who violates this subdivision is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) or more than six hundred dollars ($600), or by imprisonment for a term of not less than 60 days or more than 180 days, or by both a fine and imprisonment." read more

She left a hole in my tooth which my preferred dentist later found. During the procedure for some of the same teeth where she left a hole, I was in pain and able to feel the work she was doing. When I told her it was painful she insisted she was almost done and didn't add anymore numbing medication. Definitely DO NOT recommend. read more

I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. She was extremely rude to her staff and gave me a hard time when I asked for more numbing during a wisdom tooth extraction. On top of that, she is fraudulent. She said that my four front teeth were eroded from them grinding against each other so she recommended bonding. She shaved my teeth down then took X-rays, and it was after her shaving them down that I realized that she was doing so to make the "erosion" look worse than it actually was on the X-rays. The bonding fell out a year later. read more

Dr. Moniaga just finished sculpting my front teeth to straighten and lengthen them . Two hours later I have beautiful and very natural looking front teeth. I feel 10 years younger. I was Dr Moniaga patient for a long time before I left because I experienced the same thing like other reviewers. She said I had 20s something cavities while I did not. They were just old silver fillings plus sensitive areas on teeth near the gum that she wanted to redo in white. This dentist used software to check teeth and when there is red color on the software it means she needs to do some work because red color means future cavities. I was hesitate to let her drill my tooth because I thought my tooth was fine and there was no symptoms, but I let her did jt. When I checked with other dentists, they said they would not drill any tooth until patients had symptoms. I referred her to some people and some of them stopped seeing her because of the similar situation. Overcharges also happened in her office. You really need to know how much before she does the procedure. The plus side is her quality of work is not bad. As a patient, I think having trust with your doctor is very important especially after you have been in her care for so many years. I left her because I no longer trust her. She got awards from Consumer Research Council (CRC). When I searched CRC, I found a story conducted by ABC News related to CRC credibility. I do believe the negative stories that people posted are real because I have heard, seen, and experienced them. She really needs to fix her integrity and I hope she can find new happy and trusting patients. She deserves another chance. read more

I haven't been to a dental office in such a long time. But coming here, I felt welcome and the staff were super nice! I was really worry when I heard that I needed to remove one of my wisdom tooth. This place is a rip off. The dentist wanted to charge me for a prescreening for oral cancer with out my consent. I refused because it was never on my treatment plan. As a result the receptionist audited my file & charged me $90 for a cancelation of appointments as a form of retaliation. I paid for my own dignity & will never come back with my children. BEWARE!
