Today I was taken care of by Ramon and I went outside my usual and ordered the Philly Omlette without onions and bell peppers ( a sin to some, I know) and it was quite possibly the best omelette I have ever had. The fruit was good. The hash browns tasted oily without much flavor. I had a double espresso and an additional cup of coffee. All and all a great experience and reinforced my decision to stop in before heading out. I was seated at a corner table with a wall. Not my preferred spot but allowed me to pull out the laptop and get some emails done. There are lots of families so did hear a couple of little ones crying while I ate.

This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Hilton Santa Monica hotel. I recently stayed at this hotel and decided to attend the restaurant's happy hour. The layout and design of the lobby area and restaurant is very clean, modern, and chic. They have an outdoor area outside of the restaurant (that could be seen from my hotel window) and it seemed very nice; however, it was not open as there was no lighting in the area and no one was directed to the patio. The happy hour is from 5-7pm daily. For food, I'm not sure if it's just the Santa Monica area, but these were not true happy hour deals. Additionally, most of the appetizer type of food is overpriced. A six-piece wing is $19, $15 during happy hour; truffle fries are $9 during happy hour. Drinks were regularly priced $9-$15+. Both of my food items were just okay. They were good; but not anything exquisite or that tasted any different than a regular chain, low-cost restaurant. Between the ambiance and food, there's more to be desired. However, my service was very good. I would recommended this restaurant if you are staying at the hotel and would like a bite to eat or wine, without having to leave. However, I would not personally visit again as I do not think the food is worth the price. At most, I would visit the bar for drinks only. There's a lot of potential for a nice dining experience. Yet, it was a very quiet and overall bland outing.

    Old wilted salad

Disappointing overpriced salad. Friendly and quick service but as you'll see in the attached photos- it's shocking that I paid $30 (with tax) for a glorified cold salad with wilted greens. The grilled chicken was cold and there was a piece of cold steak in there too. Should be heartier, tastier and FRESH for that price.

Service was wonderful and food was convenient, a little pricy. More veggie choices should be available.

I walked in to a friendly hostess and great service from the staff. They were all very attentive and removed completed dishes in a timely manner. I had the paprika chips with the pistachio feta dip, the rosemary Focaccia and the oysters. The wait staff and bartenders, like Asher, are absolutely delightful - especially Faith, and Brian; who works the door. Brian is the nicest guy ever. A+ to all the employees! Top shelf. I've visited this place a few times and it was littered with entitled, snobby girls 21-28 who seem to pattern their lives after the Sex and The City divas ..but they are ALL Charlotte! If you know, you know. There is one gypsy girl who parties there everybody needs to watch out for. She's about 5'4," chubby, long scraggly brown hair, big black blouse, dog chain around her neck, and rolls dice while waiting outside in line with her blonde cohort. This rare girl is a psycho who screams random insults at men indiscriminately as they walk by. Clearly she's mentally ill ..but it is Venice, so ..ya know. This place always has great music, and the upstairs is divine. All the male patrons I've spoken to here have been pretty cool. I do take some pity on the single gents here just looking to meet a nice girl, knowing full well how many party girls will be trying to con a free drink out of them, but alas, it is what it is.

It was initially confusing when we arrived, because there was no host on shift, and we had to ask the barista inside where we should be going. After taking a peek in the actual downstairs basement tavern, we opted to sit outside under the eclectic mix of chandeliers, heat lamps, and lightbulbs, instead of the empty smoky basement. There was a live pianist playing in the front lawn, which was amazing and pretty much made the night. I don't know if it's a regular thing, but if it is, I'd definitely come back just for that. Probably since it was a weekday night, the place was pretty deserted, but we didn't mind - it was like a private show with plenty of seating options. The happy hour food was awesome. We got a bunch of appetizers to share, and there was plenty of food. Our favorite was probably the grilled octopus and calamari, and the brussel sprouts were amazing. The fish tacos and ceviche were not bad, but tasted basically the same. Our server was really sweet. In the future, I would come in a group of three since it seems like all the appetizers come in multiples of three and it would have been more easily shared between us.

Pretty much all the appetizers. You are allowed to pick 1 drink and 2 food items. I got the classic aperol, it had a little too much aperol for my taste but still good and refreshing. We got the Zucchini bingets and they were tasty, cheesy. Almost like a fritter but not so much. Also got the fries as well. They were good. I got the mussels marinere with the coconut cream sauce and honestly I love when places offer mussels in a different kind of sauce than just white wine and garlic. The toast was perfection. My friend got the grilled chicken Paillard and she liked it, came with a side of red sauce. I'll be back for the happy hour to try the apps with seafood. I didn't get w chance to since my friend doesn't eat it. They even gave me a the chocolate mousse with a candle.

The restaurant is on the more upscale/old school side with white tablecloths and professional, attentive waiters. They also have an open kitchen where you can see the chefs hard at work. For the pizza, we ordered the Stracciatella Pizza off of their specials menu and it was so good. The bottom was nice and crispy and there was the perfect ratio of toppings to crust to sauce. Our other dish was the Penne Al Salmone, penne pasta tossed with diced ora king salmon, scallions, green beans, radicchio and diced tomatoes in a cream sauce.
