Definitely a great date night spot if you want to lay back, chill, and enjoy good food and strong drinks. Happy hour here isn't bad at all -- the spirits are strong, and their cocktails shine. The espresso martini has a spicy kick, and the Mai Tai is smooth and sweet with that signature lilikoi foam. Food-wise, there are so many winners. The bulgogi tacos are one of my personal favorites, and the truffle fries are a must. Their pies are pretty darn good -- the strawberry pie is my favorite, but honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. I do wish they had a few more veggie-forward options, but what they do offer is consistently delicious, albeit a little salty (on more than one occasion). We came here after hearing a lot of hype. Our host was excellent--friendly, thorough, and really attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the expectations. We ordered the truffle fries, but what we got looked like the small, shriveled leftovers from the bottom of the basket. The burger was solid, but at $21 it should come with fries. The pizza was the biggest disappointment. It looked like something from a convenience store, topped with half a tomato and a single basil leaf. My coworker told us about this place. We made reservations 2 weeks prior and so glad we did. This was one of our highlight meals during our 6 day trip to Maui. We were seated outside and given a highchair. They don't have utensils for the kids but they did cap her water cup and gave us a straw. No coloring sheets. My first time here. Lots of close parking, it's on the second floor there are stairs and an elevator. I strongly suggest you make a reservation on Open Table so you can get seated quickly when you arrive. There's lots of inside and outside seating. We were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. Our waiter showed up quickly and took our drink orders he was very attentive and answered all our questions, even telling us a few funny dad jokes while we waited for our food. They are known for their mai tai and we agree they were delicous. They don't have a lunch menu-one menu for whole day with so many choices. The Mai tai here is amazing as people say. Strong but also fruity and tasteful. I'm convinced the people who said theirs was watered down just had a one off. Service is great and so is atmosphere. Food however was a bit disappointing. I got the seared ahi tuna. You do get a lot of fish however the sauce was quite salty. The star dish was the broccoli salad with some kind of anchovy paste at the bottom. I wish they had given us more bread so we could've spread the anchovy paste over it. The issue was the seating. We reserved a table a couple days ahead of time and were seated right away - always a great start to dinner! Our dishes were all good, although the portions were on the small side. The shrimp and oyster mushroom potstickers were really tasty and crispy, and the sauces it came with really packed a spicy punch if you dipped into them. My fish sandwich was excellent. The fish was seasoned simply and cooked well, and all the toppings (tomato, quick pickles, slaw, aoli) complimented the fish perfectly. Monkey Pod is a great place to visit when in the area. We come during happy hour, but the bill is still a bit much because we order a lot. You can take the stairs to get up to the restaurant or you can take the elevator. There are a set of bathrooms to the left of the elevator around the corner that can be used instead of walking through the whole restaurant to the back for the restrooms. We sat at the outdoor patio area in the front to catch the slight breeze and view the setting sun. Amanda was our server and she is amazing! She was very personable and welcoming. She assisted us in getting our happy hour order in on time. Our food and drinks arrived pretty quickly. My only suggestion on the Mai Tai is to make the lilikoi topping thicker and creamer. The server went an extra mile and created an ube mocktail for my toddler who was feeling left out. She was soo happy and that was the highlight for her. With a reservation in hand, we arrived on a weekend afternoon and chose a patio table. I made a meal out of two starters: potstickers (shrimp, mushroom, ginger and garlic) and soup (vegan tortilla). The potstickers were crispy on the ends and in the middle - heavy on mushroom, light on shrimp, but I left no crumbs. I'm not vegan, but I LOVED the soup. Monkeypod in Wailea is one of my absolute favorites every time we visit. The true highlight here is the mai tai with lilikoi foam. I love it so much that I usually ask for an extra side of just the foam because it is that good. I almost never stray from my usual order, which includes the mushroom truffle pizza, the mai tai with lilikoi foam, the truffle fries with all the different dipping sauces, and the strawberry pie. The strawberry pie is a must and should never be skipped. It is always incredible. The ambience is consistently great, and they typically have live music. This place is almost always packed, no matter when you go, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. I actually preferred the fish to the lobster, which was also cooked very well. We also ordered the lobster and truffle pizza and it was really good, but didn't have a very strong flavor. Could probably have used a little bit of sauce of some sort. What's really cool? Is they provide a small cheesy pasta for children under three years old which helps because our son is super picky.
